La Taq Brooklyn Reviews
Incredible lunch special deal has gotten me hooked! For less than $12 dollars during lunch hours Monday-Friday enjoy a full meal that includes a beverage of your choice. The location is perfectly situated in a warm and cozy part of Brooklyn. You’ll be delighted to have helpful customer service for those who can be a bit indecisive (like myself). Excited to try many more dishes and come back soon. The cherry on top is that they also have great taste in music 😁
Taq-o bout the biggest breakfast burrito I ever had, big as a baby, soft as a bunny, thick as a- well, you get my point. I personally also love a shrimp in my burrito, but if that’s a journey you decide to take, I’d recommend it after 3pm and with at least a 6 hour resting period after its breakfast brethren.
My husband and I worked up the nerve to take our two children-under-two out for dinner here last night for our oldest child's second birthday. Without getting too long-winded, the food was delicious and served quickly, and the staff were true champions and absolutely the kindest, most delightful humans. Parents know that it's really stressful trying to enjoy yourself as an adult in public with tiny kids. The staff helped us situate two high chairs, brought us food quickly, served it in an expert way where no kid could reach anything they weren't supposed to, and even happily offered to have us dock our giant stroller next to the register. At the end of the meal, my husband and I were making one last sweep to clean up stray table and floor bits from the kids, and my husband accidentally spilled his entire frozen margarita on the floor (awesome). Again, the whole staff was outstandingly chill and graceful about it. From the two (I assume) owner/managers to the ladies and gentlemen front and back of house, every single person was relaxed and smiling, making us feel at ease. We will likely be picking up from here for a while until we get the courage to venture out again, but seriously, we'll be back again and again to La Taq to support good food and great people. Thanks y'all! We appreciate you!
Their San Diego Fries are the best Carne Asada Fries I've had in a long time. No beans or lettuce that most New York places put, but california places never use. Better meat flavor than many places in California where I grew up. The portions are the largest in New York for a reasonable price. It could have fed 2 people or one really hungry person. Also a free salsa bar gives you the option of different flavors. This place is the closest to a Cali Mexican place I've found on the East Coast.
At first I was a little taken aback by the price: $22 for 3 tacos and a water. However, when I saw the food, I realized it’s worth it. The tacos are packed with good quality meat, and all ingredients were very fresh and tasty. I was stuffed. They have 3 homemade sauces available too. Certainly a step above the run of the mill Mexican fare in Park Slope! You order at the counter and sit down. They have a nice interior with a decent sized seating area. Will be back!
listen — the one thing i won’t do is sugar coat, lie or exaggerate here. that being said — the shredded beef taco w the works is hands down the best taco i’ve had in recent memory. juicy, tasty and legit. large too. great as takeaway — just be sure to pick up some salsas and peppers from the fixings bar!
authentic taco joint packing flavor bit pricey, for tacos had el rey, carne asada, and carnitas, fave and smokiest being carne asada with rey being giant. the rosita was a steak and shrimp burrito that was a monster as well, also had great hot sauces including el diablo which was fun spicy red sauce, and the green sauce was refreshing and our fave. horchata was also not too sweet which is a plus
We went for a lunch and the food was great, each taco was well thought out and individual, they were slightly larger than most taco spots with quality ingredients. Our order was the Pastor, Carne Deshabrada and a special of Lobster taco. All excellent. We met the owner briefly and he seemed to be a stand-up person.
Authentic tacos and burritos lovingly prepared by a friendly staff. I particularly loved the chicken taco with very flavorful chicken stew and interesting green sauce. It was filling and satisfying. The atmosphere has an interesting southern California vibe to it with a Mexican artistic finish. So glad we have a high-quality Taqueria in this corner of Park Slope now. There is ample seating.
Wow, wow, wow. As a Californian I’ve been griping about the lack of good Mexican food in New York for 5+ years since moving here, and La Taq changed all of that. I came here as excited as a kid on Christmas morning. Classic taqueria vibe, fresh tortillas being made in the window, SUCH juicy carnitas. New, instant favorite. Come here!!!
I’d definitely say this is the best spot for Mexican food in Park Slope and the general area (for burritos, tacos, etc.). I really enjoyed the San Diego burrito though it was a bit heavy on the fries. The interior is beautiful and reminds me of the taco shops in CDMX. Looking forward to coming back and trying out the taco options since I really enjoyed the carne asada in my burrito. It does get quite busy but there weren’t many people when we came, it really depends on the time of day. Stop by if you haven’t yet, this will be my spot for Mexican food going forward and I’m happy about it!
As with most things in NYC, they start out great and quickly decline. The first time I order from here I received a well-filled, tasty San Diego burrito. Second time was still good but less flavorful. Third time now and I received a cold burrito filled with pico, sour cream, tons of unmelted shredded cheese, and scant steak or fries. It tastes nothing like the first time I ordered it. The value is pretty awful. Over $20 for any burrito is insane, $20 for this burrito is even more insane.
Ingredients were delicious and fresh. My 3 rating is on product delivery. First, too damn big. I feel the US continues to suffer the chipotle effect when it comes to stuffing and rolling burritos… less is more! So much filling stuffed in can only go outward, which happens here after 2-3 bites on one end and the bottom blows out. Second is too wet… the pico adds too much liquid adding to easily slide stuffing out of the bottom, and just all over.
Had the San Diego burrito (filled with French fries 🍟) and the steak and shrimp burrito (I forget the name). Both unique and different from typical offerings of the multitude of burrito shops around the area, so was very excited to try. First impression: HUGE burritos which justified the price. Tasty but nothing special. The structural integrity of the burrito was lacking as it opened up after only my third bite. I am prone to messy eating, but this fell apart too easily. The vibes are very cool and the place feels authentic. I wish I got the tacos as I saw the culinary team freshly pressing the masa into tortillas when we were leaving. The price deterred me from them ($7 for one taco?) but they seemed to be popular amongst other diners in the restaurant.
I have never been so disappointed in the level of customer service from this place yesterday. I was born and raised here in Park Slope for over 40 years, and what I experienced at this place with my family was embarrassing. I have been coming here by myself several times and really enjoyed the food and the service. However, when I came with my family, we were appalled by the dismissal of my child, who simply ordered a bean and cheese taco that was far from satisfying. The staff absolutely dismissed us when we asked if they could make us a new taco or offer us anything else like all great restaurants do, right? No, the young lady in the front said, "Since you tried it, there is nothing we can do." UNBELIEVABLE, considering the family neighborhood Park Slope is and this was for a child!!!! The taco was greasy and so messy we needed utensils (for a taco). The manager that I have seen before and has been very accommodating was not present. I am not sure if I will ever be back, but if I do, I will make sure they will remember how they treated my family. Please drop a comment 🙏 or send me any message that will quantify why this is acceptable. Thank you, and remember, "Spread love is the Brooklyn way."
