If I recommend one baked good in all the City, it’s L’Appartement’s cheese boule — crispy crust, cheesy layers. So tasty and flavorful but effortlessly so. I eat it alone or with toppings, and always make sure to buy extra to bring home. Will be back whenever in Brooklyn!

Wonderful Cafe for getting the best croissants in Brooklyn. There's a small seating area upstairs so you may not be able to find a seat depending on the time of day. If you do see a line it goes quickly so don't be deterred. They also have a variety of other baked items. If you're lucky enough to be there when they have croissant cereal, be sure to pick up a box!

Famous bakery with long but fast-moving lines. Some seating on a cramped second floor. The croissant’s delicate layers felt much thinner than typical, yet they remained so well-separated. With each bite, you can feel your teeth go through the layers one by one. The crust’s more browned (“bien cuit”) for a darker, toastier flavor. The jambon beurre’s well made, just not to my preference. The baguette’s got a really thick crust, quite crispy, but it’s so tough to chew it felt like a workout. I know lots of people love this style.

These pastries were incredibly good. We didn’t have too much of a long line but we waited around 10 minutes. We got the chocolate chip cookie, butter, croissant, raspberry, almond croissant, cinnamon roll, and regular almond croissant. We also got an almond milk cappuccino. There is very limited seating upstairs, we waited around 10 minutes to get a table. Overall, there are a lot of options for bread and sandwiches, as well as pastries. Highly recommend coming here on a weekday when it’s not super busy. Overall, very cute, bakery and café!

My first experience with this incredible bakery was this: I went on a 5K run beginning and ending at High Street in the morning summer heat. I was dehydrated, exhausted, and hungry. I found a bakery that had bagels on Montague and walked about 10 minutes there. When I arrived, I saw a line outside L'Appartement across the street. I was curious, and ditched my original plans to find out what was so great about this place that it deserved a line that long at 9am on a Friday morning. Had the most incredible pistachio rose croissant and cappuccino. The croissant was lightly sweet yet massively flavorful. The cappuccino was mild and smooth and not bitter at all. Not only was my stomach filled, my soul was too. I loved the upper level seating looking over the bustle of orders below. The place is decorated tastefully, white walls, dark wooden chairs, assorted portraits with gold frames and accents. I'm back in NYC again 6 months later and had to stop by the Brooklyn location again. Same order and just as delicious. I want to box this feeling and take it home. But I can't, so can't wait until I visit again!

The most flaky croissant you will have. One of the best I have had. The raspberry almond croissant and chocolate croissant also were lovely. The kicker was the cinnamon bun which also had a beautiful flakiness. It had plenty of icing too which I love. This is a no brainer to visit when in the area. Check it out! So good.

French cafe in Brooklyn! Croissant is good! Other bake gods looks good too. I try pistachio croissant and it was amazing. Lots of sitting space at second floor, window side table is so lovely. But our chair is sticky, so we use a paper on it to cover. The bathroom is clean.

POV: It’s a sunny fall afternoon in Brooklyn and you’re sitting inside L’appartement 4F by the window, people-watching. It’s cozy, warm, and the wooden chairs and petite marble tables offer the perfect place to rest your freshly baked treasures. You bite into the most TENDER, BUTTERY, and FLAKY almond croissant of your existence and wash it down with a RICH oat milk latte (the perfect shade of brown). As you leave with a HEAVY SLAB of olive focaccia, you bump into a matcha-loving, Birkenstocks-wearing, feminist-literature-reading performative young man who just so happens to be 6’2” with curly brown hair. You lock eyes. You share the bread. You fall in love. Ten years later, you’re still together. You’ve adopted a rescue cat named Biscotti. Every Sunday, you return to L’appartement 4F. He still wears Birkenstocks. You still order the almond croissant. God-tier pastry. Life-changing bread. A healing temple of baked goods. True love? Optional. But highly probable—especially if you start with the croissant.

Awesome bakery. Excellent raspberry croissant with a strong raspberry flavor, excellent cinnamon roll that kind of tasted like french toast and had a flaky texture. The croissant cereal was expensive but absolutely amazing as well . And holy crap DO NOT sleep on the cookie , easily one of the best cookies in NYC.

You know what we say in New York: a long line is a good sign. Luckily, I can affirm what others are saying about the line moving quickly. And it’s a worthwhile wait—the croissant selection is amazing, and it was so hard to make a choice! I set my heart on an almond croissant, but then I panic switched to a pumpkin croissant at the counter. I figured it was a seasonal flavor since I didn’t see it on the permanent menu and wanted to try. Amazing decision, past self. In a world where very few pumpkin-flavored things actually taste like pumpkin, this croissant had all the flavors of your favorite pumpkin pie packed inside courtesy of a creamy filling. It was next topped with delicately toasted (and perhaps caramelized) pecans and powdered sugar. Heaven. I’m coming back for you, almond croissant. I also tried the tahini chocolate chip. In all fairness, this is a Parisian bakery (one of the founders is literally French), and I think the tahini chocolate chip cookie might just be a little too high brow for me, but I see why people love it. It’s very creamy, gooey and has a nice umami flair from the tahini. If you could score a table upstairs, I think that would be just the cutest little date spot.

Amazing!!! A little mini Paris in Brooklyn. Pastries were incredible!! Try the kouign amann. It doesn't look exciting but it's by far my favorite! Super flaky, buttery, and caramelized sugar. Latte was also great and the vibe is straight from Paris. So beautiful, great french music playing. I love it all so much!! Get there early cause there's a line, esp on weekends. But it moves fast.

Stopped by to try one of the raspberry croissants. The line wasn't too bad on a Sunday morning. I love that they have the window outside and you get your pastries while you are there. This croissant was everything a croissant should be - buttery, flaky, and delightful! Definitely recommend checking this place out - its worth the hype.

Best bakery in nyc! The smell alone is heavenly! Regulars for their raspberry and chocolate almond croissants!! Everything here is delicious. We love the pistachio rose, the cinnamon role. The croissant muffins - cruffins? Amazing!! Their bread; basically can’t go wrong! We also had dinner here for my bday weekend and it was so romantic and cozy. Food was top. Love this place!

Very cute bakery in a fun area of Brooklyn, be prepared for the line outside that moves quickly. We tried the raspberry croissant and a cinnamon roll. I liked the cinnamon roll more than the croissant. The croissant was too sweet for my taste, it had a heavier topping and was different than what I've had in other bakeries. Their bread and other items looked great, I'd opt for something less sweet next time. There is quite a bit of seating inside and it's super cute, plus there's a restroom. The staff moves quickly to serve customers.

This place has such good pastries! I got the raspberry almond croissant. It was very flaky and very delicious. It was a good amount of fruit with filling. I was told the pistachio was also a very good choice people often get. The staff was very nice, lines can be long as it is very popular. There is seating upstairs for you to relax and enjoy your pastry.

WOW - the inviting smell of butter drew me right in! I have tried the kouign amann, raspberry croissant, baguette, and coffee here. My friend enjoyed the raspberry kouign amann and a latte. Delicious pastry shop, really down to earth people working there, and the upstairs is the perfect lofted space to catch up with a friend or get some work done. Plus if you sit up top you have a great view of the warm pastry fresh from the oven. Cant go wrong with anything here!

Cinnamon rolls are really good but that sells out very early. Lots of other pastries available and they are good too. Coffee is decent and while there can be a long queue, it moves quite quickly. Quite a bit of seating available on the 2nd floor and a nice place to escape the heat and take a break.

Most well known for their raspberry almond croissant and I can see why! Was hoping for slightly more fruit forward punch but was def my favorite over the eye-catching pistachio rose croissant. Cinnamon bun was delicious- the frosting was perfect (but can get a little messy). One bathroom stall upstairs, cute small seating upstairs. Line for pastries goes quickly. Good coffee that does the job.

Despite the long queue and the influencer hype I was not that impressed. Pain au chocolat had very little chocolate. The regular croissant was just fine. Not worth lining up in my opinion. Cute inside and some nice seating upstairs.

I LOOOVE this place, but the almond, raspberry, nutella chocolate croissants have a little too much filling. It’s really rich, and I felt the fillings were a little too generous. Their olive focaccia will rock your world and redefine what focaccia should taste like. Highly recommend 😍😍

Live in the area and there is always a line. Went by on a Tuesday morning around 930 am when it wasn’t too busy. We purchased a pistachio rose and almond croissant. We took our croissants to go as there was no open seating outside. Almond croissant was ok, I have definitely had better. It would have been a nice touch to have almonds on the outside of the croissant for a little crunch. This gets 3 stars. The pistachio rose croissant was better in my opinion, but I don’t think it’s a) worth waiting in line or b) worth paying $8. I would give this 4 stars. Maybe I would come back here again, but only if there wasn’t a line, and it would be to try the raspberry croissant. The guy at the counter said that was their most popular, but that it was on the sweeter side. Worth the hype? I don’t think so. But OK if you want to blow $8 on a pastry.
