Lucky Dog Brooklyn Reviews
I love to stop at this coffee shop before I arrive at the office. The staff is always cheerful and welcoming and it makes you feel like you are being invited in by a friend. I usually order the matcha ginger latte or the matcha coconut latte and a pastry to help start a long day of listing appointments and market research. If you are walking down bedford and need a coffee shop that serves great coffee and will not have you waiting forever then this is your must try place. I love the quality of the matcha and the nutella brioche. I will forever be a patron just for the quality and great conversations. Only 2 customers allowed in at a time and face masks must be worn. Be safe and enjoy your morning cup of matcha!
I'm a coffee freak who travels the world and goes from one coffee shop to the next. Black Brick is possibly my favorite coffee anywhere. They have the balance just right. I never taste too much soy (or milk) or too little and bitter - it's the perfect cappuccino with the right thickness of foam even though soy is harder to get cute with. Oh and let's not forget their backyard. It's a very cute, pleasant and well designed place. However, some mosquito repellents would be a good touch - either placed in the garden or offered to customers.
Nice staff, Will and his coworker were welcoming and lots of outlets in the back table.
I appreciate how they encourage using them as a workplace and at the same time limiting where and when computers can be used. Would be cool to add some ready made sandwiches to the pastries on offer. I’ll be honest, I use BBC just for their fans and AC sometimes. Staff is always friendly. I recall a time in 2020, before we knew we could un-mask outside, when it was hot. I came in for an ice coffee, and got dizzy once I started standing still. The barista dropped everything, ushered me to the back room (which was blocked off because COVID rules), turned on a giant fan, gave me a couple glasses of water, told me to unmask and stay as long as I needed. I should have posted back then. Anyway, walking into this place always reminds me of a time someone was kind to me when I didn’t know I needed it.
Great, underrated, coffee shop. It’s not a chain or its own roaster but black brick is a true local favorite!! Solid coffee, plenty of seating with a pleasant outside garden when weather permits. Inside the vibe is cozy and mellow. Something i really appreciate is Definitely does NOT have a somewhat sterile “lets have a business meeting vibe” like many others.
Amazing place and very eclectic coffee shop design! The ceilings is soooo nice and the back garden is definitively a gem in this metropolitan full of no green space - very peaceful to see some green. The coffee and the baristas were very good. Definitively a trendy place to sit, relax and sip on your well made coffee with good quality roast.
Very nice vibe - big wooden tables, lots of seating, beautiful reclaimed wood everywhere. Fast service. Lots of laptop free tables too. Great vibe good sunlight.
Fantastic little coffee shop with so much personality and warmth inside. Its the kind of place you just want to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee on a rainy day or enjoy a good conversation with a friend. There is decent amount of communal seating and some individual tables tops plus I think there is also an outside area towards the back. On this occasion the mocha outshined my daughter's latte :).
This review is about sustainability! Thank you so much for offering real, reusable mugs, plates, and silverware at this café. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastic that we consume does not get recycled, but rather ends up in landfills, incinerators, or our waterways. As a customer in this waterfront city, it means a lot to me to be able to find and support businesses that offer the dignity of food or beverage without plastic trash. I love that your baristas ask each customer if they are taking their drink to go or having it to stay. Just having that choice is unique, and it feels like an intentional way to foster community and a culture of care amongst your customer base. Also, your coffee is delicious! So thank you again for asking your customers if they would like the option of a real mug, and for offering the mug and the glass in the first place. Keep up the great work! And to any current or future, customer is reading this, you can ask for your drink to stay!
Such a cute and cozy vibe here! Love all the aged wood elements and vintage aesthetic. The backyard was also pretty covered in colorful leaves; though it was a little cold to sit out back at the time of my visit. Service was great, I had the ginger turmeric matcha latte and it was quite delicious!! The menu is very simple and straightforward, I think that was the most interesting thing for me to order (though I'm not really a regular coffee drinker anymore due to medication). Was a lovely space to grab a sit down drink with a friend, there were also plenty of people working on laptops, but there's not exactly a ton of space for that so if you were to want to work there I would think you should try to go early.
I really liked the vintage vibe of this coffee shop. My order was a latte as usual, which had a very distinct fruity flavor and a great texture. If I talk about the service so I would say it was pretty average, nothing exceptional. Overall, it's a decent spot in my opinion, but with so many amazing options in the area, it's hard to say that I'll revisit but their lattes are really good. Definitely worth a try !
OMG this place is a great great energy. Backyard seating, gorgeous sunlight. For-here cups are great. Coffee is delicious (it’s stumptown). Inside vibes are dark academia. Very decently priced baked goods too. Will seriously come back to do some journaling and reflection! Laptop friendly on weekends.
This was the best coffee in new yoek in my opinion. Not only was it really flavorful but the prices were great and the atmosphere was as well. Most of of is wooden with warm lighting and little touches of personality scattered throughout. The coffee itself was creamy and rich and under $4 which was a steel. They also had an assortment of good looking pastries and specialty coffees that we will definitly get the next time we are there. This makes it into one of my favorite coffee shops and ill definitly be back
Delicious coffee and a scrummy pumpkin cookie. Loved the vibe here, industrial decor with friendly staff
Update 2024: still my favorite. Great staff, all around nice people. People complain about the laptop policy, I for one appreciate it and think that it's very good. During weekends there's a large table in the back that fits 6 people or so and a couch where 2 more can sit that allows laptops. The rest of the seating is for people having conversations and doing non-laptop things like reading and conversing. During the week there's another 5 tables were laptops are allowed (most of the cafe!). This is a nice balance and frankly very helpful so that you can find a place to seat and have a conversation most of the time when meeting a friend. It also gives the place a nice charm missing in places were everyone is at their laptop. If I know I need to be on my laptop on a weekend, yes, I consider going elsewhere. It's inconvenient at times since I love this place, but that's part of why it is great. ---- Original review: It's my favorite coffee shop in the area. The staff is nice, the ambience is great, their coffee and drinks are the best, and their prices are great. If you specify that your order is to stay they'll also use proper cups, not disposable ones, which is also very nice. For pastries, their chocolate croissant and the tahini chocolate chunk cookies are wonderful.
Favorite patio of all the coffee shops - it's so beautiful and big. They have space inside too; good for reading or working. Good coffee and tea - their Chai latte is my favorite. This place can be hard to spot since their entrance is quite low-key.
Honestly I love this place. I have lived in the area for about 4 years now and this is by far my favorite place to sit and work. The backyard…truthfully hate to gas it up because I like that I feel like I have it all to myself most days…but it really is the best. They don’t play music outside, so you are actually able to focus. The lawn furniture is so comfy and there is plenty of shade for people who love shade and plenty of sun for those who love sun. There are a few harmless bugs, but that makes me feel like I’m not in NYC, so I don’t mind at all. Their coffee is obviously great, and the couple of pastries I’ve had are wonderful as well. They prioritize the experience here, so they have requests on the weekends that you don’t work in the cafe so people can socialize freely and come and go since it gets busy. But on weekdays, I have stayed here for hours at a time. Anyways, I love it here.
The owner is nice and always a smile on his face. We ordered an iced latte with oat milk and hot Macha latte with soy milk. Taste balanced. There are plenty seats offer you to take a rest or even work with your computer quietly. Of course you can also order a to-go. The door is wide open so the room is very ventilated. Overall a comfortable place with reasonable price and good coffee!
Black Brick Coffee's vibe is as rich as its dark roasts. The dark yet inviting interior perfectly complements the bold coffee flavors. Their generous seating space offers an inclusive atmosphere, whether you're out for a quick coffee run or planning to linger with a good book. Highly recommended!
Like a 2010 hipster caricature but now so rare it's nice. Kudos for going their own way. Coffee is decent.
Best coffee around, served with a smile and a chat. Loved the music as well although it would sound better with another 🔊.
Coffee is delish!!! Iced or hot you can’t go wrong. The atmosphere is superb along with the aesthetic. I visited the shop all three mornings I was in town and the third morning is when we were introduced to their back yard/patio area. Absolutely adorable!! I’m not from the area but I’ll definitely visit every time I’m in Brooklyn!!
One of the best coffee shops in Brooklyn. Fantastic coffee and delicious pastries and skilled baristas. Have a look around the cafe while you’re waiting for your coffee - the interior design is very unique and there are so many little details (the crate ceiling!) There’s free WiFi, if you need to get some work done, and there’s also a beautiful backyard if you just want to hang out for a while. Lush and green in the summer - feels like a hidden oasis in Williamsburg.
I've been coming to this place for years and years and years, and it is truly one of the last strongholds of Williamsburg. Their prices are cheap. Their drinks are delicious. They get really good pastries, and the staff has always been incredible. I wish them many more years of success!
Nice staff, Will and his coworker were welcoming and lots of outlets in the back table.
Very good coffee!

Really delicious coffee, chill atmosphere and nice staff
Delicious latte. Love the calmed atmosphere.

Coffee ★★★★✩ Atmosphere ★★★★★ Food ★★★✩✩ Workability ★★★★✩ Music ★★★★✩ WiFi : Yes ; blackbrickcoffee, HOWELL300 Location : 300 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211 Finding the right coffee shop to study, work, hangout, and talk is hard to find in NY. There are many options to choose from. Many of which are either too noisy, too bright, uninviting vibe, or simply bad coffee! Granted, my criteria of the perfect cafe will differ from everyone; but like most one of the important things is the coffee. Let’s start with that … The coffee in Black Brick Coffee is from Stumptown which I do enjoy dearly. As for every new cafe I enter, I always order the usual espresso. In regards to the presentation, I look for the tiny details such as the color, plate and cup, and more importantly the seltzer water they (give) you. As for the taste, if you’re familiar with Stumptown you’ll get that nice nutty, acidity coffee. If you’re the type of person that is more into a light and fruity taste, I don’t recommend this. As for me, I always enjoy this roast, but would like to have it slightly lighter. Food choice is limited to a small number of pastries and cookies. I ordered the Almond Croissant, which was on the dry side, and not as flavorful as others … For the Atmosphere, I am not a big fan of extremely polished, modern cafes that makes it look like something out of an Ikea catalog … To me, I much prefer a rustic, industrial, slightly modern take. This cafe knocked it out of the ballpark; It has an awesome brick wall layout (as the name suggests), industrial stools and tables, mismatched plates, and warm filament lighting! … Now for the second most important thing on my list, the music and workability. Music I don’t care for as much because I either I listen to my own or I’m watching a video. But when I’m meeting friends to have a chat, I would like to have good music. Here, they offer nice acoustic rock music with relatively low volume; though it would be nice if it was a bit lower. As for the workability, WiFi is nice a responsive, plenty of work spaces, but limited on the amount of outlets …
A nice quiet place to drink some coffee and get some work done. They have a nice large space with many chairs to get work done, outlets, and a nice bathroom. The baristas are usually chatting with customers or making drinks, the atmosphere feels very calm unlike most places nearby. The star of the show is the backyard.
It’s very dark, they also have a bright outside which has a big of a rusty vibe. Coffee is excellent, chocolate croissant is delicious as well. Service is average and you have to pick up your coffee yourself. I’d be happy to tip but not if they don’t bring your stuff.
Amazing coffee and prices. $4 for a flat white is nuts. Only downside is the wifi/reception. Always feels like a dark zone, but that can be a positive if you just want to catch up with a friend or read!

I would recommend if you r looking for somewhere chill and lowkey to hang out. But the drink is bland and not worth the price. Coconut matcha latte was matcha with coconut milk. It was unfortunately not flavorful, losing both the matcha taste and coconut taste.
The ambient is such a cool vibe. It is just the service. This guy stumbled and did not repeat himself. He did not smile we had to pay instantly and everyone who dined in got a to go cup and when we said we want to drink it here he semed upset that he had to fill it in a normal cup. Why is it so hard for new yorker to be friendly?
If you like your coffee with a sprinkle of attitude, this is the place for ya! The physical atmosphere is the only good thing about this place. They have decent coffee and teas but nothing you can't find around a corner. I've been here a handful of times and I've witnessed the barista being bitter, bored and just rude to multiple guests. It's always the same woman. She's very condescending and always acts as if you walked in unannounced into her own personal kitchen and demanded a drink. She also speaks in a whisper probably because she can't be bothered to waste her vocal cords on the plebs. Her time is more important and she moves the speed of snail. If you hate your job so much, move on! Maybe something BOH next time?
