Mekong BK Brooklyn Reviews
The pho was incredible. Went here with my family and friends. It’s one of my favorite spots to go to in the city! Staff was friendly and the food was delicious😋
Update: they refunded me, appreciate it! One of the waiters told me tip wasn’t included but actually it was so I was double charged - annoying. Pho was ok, banh mi was great.
The best spot in the neighborhood for an easy delicious meal. Great vibes for dining in and I also order their chicken pho whenever I’m sick. Service and staff is excellent and friendly. Just a perfect cozy establishment!
The Pho is great. The owner puts great emphasis on quality and service. The bartender is not aware of this. He is rude. My recommendation: order take-out for delivery rather than pick up and eat where the waitress is serving you. All interactions with the bartender should be avoided. I noted that I ate for dine-in but I have eaten here for dine-in, take-out, and delivery and will say that the food is always the same level of good.
Nice atmosphere for a place with standard Vietnamese fare. Prices were a bit high, but you're paying for the atmosphere, location, and good food. Pork chops were delicious. I enjoyed the tenderness and charring. The wrapper for the spring rolls had an interesting texture. They reminded me of a Chinese crispy birds nest but more delicate. The team serving us were attentive and efficient.
Wow super delicious pho and impressed with the authenticity of the food. I always lived close by but never got a chance to try and I’m still thinking about the pho! Such a delicious place as the weather gets cold. Note: it’s definitely not a standard “pho” place, the wait will be longer and reservations are necessary. Staff is nice.
Great Vietnamese spot in Fort Greene! We stopped in for lunch around 2pm on a Sunday and there was plenty of space for walk-ins. It can be busy at night, especially on weekends, so going for lunch was perfect. We ordered the crispy spring rolls, beef pho (which they split in two bowls for us) and the bahn mi sandwich. All were great and we left very full. Service was very quick and just what we needed on a cold afternoon. Excited to come back to try other items!
Love this place. There are so many options, and all dishes that we got were delicious and had fairly big portions, reasonable price. I loved the vegetarian fried spring rolls—the filling texture was very meat-like. As well as the iron pot lemongrass curry—the blend of flavors are perfect! My husband also gobbled up his coconut chicken curry. Would highly recommend this place!
Nestled among the chic restaurants of Fort Greene, Mekong BK stands out as my preferred choice, focusing on a genuine culinary experience rather than relying on flashy interiors and branding. The restaurant's charm lies in its commitment to consistently delivering high-quality food. From the crisp calamari au beurre with its savory lemon pepper sauce to the tender fillet mignon paired with watercress and a special sauce, each dish speaks volumes about the authenticity and dedication to flavor. The beef tartare, featuring a hint of ginger, adds a unique touch to the menu. Mekong BK invites you to savor the real experience, where the focus is on the menu's delightful offerings rather than superficial aesthetics. And, of course, the Vietnamese coffee is a must-try, rounding off this unpretentious yet extraordinary dining experience.
The beef broth for the pho was very good, but the portions could have been bigger for the price. And please add some kind of chili pepper as an accompaniment!
Nice spot with pretty good food. Portions were on the smaller side, and I felt the price wasn’t really justified — you can find similar or even better food for the same price or less elsewhere. That said, no real complaints, the food tasted good overall and the experience was fine.
Pros: Food came out quickly and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice. The Country Salmon was delicious, if a touch too spicy. Cons: The Beef Bone Broth Pho was very bland, even with added hoisin and sriracha.
Great spot for Vietnamese cuisine, really enjoyed this place. Some notes on the ambiance… the light, temperature, and music were all PERFECT, very enjoyable to be dining in there! I loved the Crispy fried Spring Rolls and the Marinated Pork Ribs (appetizers)! So tasty and flavorful. I didn’t personally love the Beef Pho but others in the party did - I think it was lacking a lil flavor 🫣. The Ca Phe Sua Da for dessert was deeeeliiiiiicccccious, highly recommend. I will come back just to try their other desserts. Papaya shrimp salad is super light and refreshing if you’re not trying to eat anything heavy. The menu has ample vegetarian options.
I recently tried the Pho & crispy roll here. The soup was delicious, with a rich and flavorful broth that I couldn't resist. I consumed every last drop of it. The beef was tender, albeit with a slight aroma of rawness. The noodles provided a satisfying texture to the dish. The crispy roll was absolutely tasty. Overall, it was great.
I was excited to try out but I guess I picked wrong items.. the person serving our table was pretty strict with roles which another person seem like in a higher position came to help eventually.. but we already didn’t need it anymore. The crab and tomato soup noodles.. I DONT RECOMMEND. The soup was a clear soup with sliced tomato that didn’t match together. The weird meat balls got sands-like ingredients inside. Crab meat were invisible with only little shreds. Iced Vietnamese coffee was watery.
Food was fine. Not great. A bit over priced. $250 for 3 people. The service was awful! Waited 25 minutes for a drink. We had a 6:30 reservation. At 7:50 we were told we had 20 min because they needed the table. My son was not finished with his dinner and they tried to take it away. 10 minutes later the waitress came with the credit card machine to pay our bill. I asked if it said anywhere that tables were limited to 90 minutes and waitress just said “ I am the messenger. I don”t know.” We have never had an experience like this anywhere before. Awful! Not relaxing. Just stressful!
Was looking forward to dining here for lunch (they open at 1pm on Sundays). We got there at 1pm and it appeared not to be open. After waiting with other customers for about 10mins, they finally opened the door (just unlocked, they didn't open it for us). No greeting, just bluntly asked 'How Many'. We told the manager 4 people, but he refused to allow our service dog inside. My service dog is a small, well trained service animal. He is trained to detect seizures before they happen. I explained that he is a service dog and the manager said 'The owner doesnt allow any dog'. This a violation of federal law under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to not allow a service dog in any public area. The manager told us we can sit outside, but as it is 1pm on a very sunny summer afternoon - the outside patio is simply too hot for myself, my kids and my service dog. There is no awning, umbrellas or shade. It was such an uninviting and unaccommodating experience, we decided to dine elsewhere. It's a shame as I usually don't write these kinds of reviews. Normally we eat Vietnamese food regularly in Brooklyn and live nearby. It's a shame we has this experience. We will not come again.
