Mugs Ale House Brooklyn Reviews
Best neighborhood spot. Bartenders are great folks.
Great neighborhood bar with friendly bartenders and great ownership!
Good vibes, great playlist, friendly service. We'll come back!
Very cool wish the outdoor area was open later
Proper UK style pub without annoying table service.
still one of the most fun places in Bedford Ave.
Nice vibes. Kind staff. Would go back to hang
The bartender on Monday (Edie, or was it Ellie?) was fantastic!
Fun vibe
Best bar in Williamsburg!
Great place to hang out with friends and family
Great Irish dive bar.
Great place and cocktails!
Jen was the sweetest bartender.
Try the sticky burger
Great atmosphere
Great place to go and have a couple of drinks. The Mugs Old Fashioned was fantastic! Will definitely come here again.
Local watering hole, it's always kind of busy but you can get a table, nice atmosphere but not too loud, has some sports on, and nice open aired place - been a regular since it opened
Love this spot!! We were visiting friends in Williamsburg, Brooklyn We are from Texas.. everyone was so nice great atmosphere and the PALOMA WAS SO GOOD
Good sport bar on Bedford.
Mugs Ale House is back in business... It was a bit awkward to see that the barmaid did not know about this bar's history. In any case, it is good to have it back...
The bar is perfect and Joel is great at his job, you should pay him more hourly.
Gotta say the burgers were really good here.
Jen was a lovely host in an impromptu visit. Thank you so much for making 2 Brits feel so welcome 🙏
Super friendly staff and really relaxed atmosphere. Great choice of beers too.
Great cocktails and a good beer selection in a spacious bar with plenty of TVs for the sports. Cheers!
Cute place. They have Spaten served cold and in proper Spaten beer mug. That’s all one could ever ask for.
Great spot to have a good time!!! Summer, winter or rainy days… good price and delicious food
Happy hour from 12 AM to 6 PM. Nice place, nice people and good beer!
Super great cheap food and great sports bar atmosphere
Great little establishment, ambiance and great employees. They make sure their customers are satisfied and welcomed.
Fantastic pub atmosphere. Great local place to grab a pint.
Great vibe and friendly staff. They also have a back room you can reserve and it is very sizable.
Very fun bar to watch NFL. Good selection of beers and a fun atmosphere.
Legendary so glad they are still open
Quick stop for St Patrick's Day drink. Comfy seats, nice beer selection
Best bar staff. Great vibes.
I love this place. Great neighborhood bar.
Great spot for a proper pint and some proper wings to watch some proper football
Loved the whiskey sours here, bartender makes them perfect!
Love this place, great atmosphere and very chill. Service is great and the chili is suuuuuuper good! Had the chili cheese tater tots, really good, fresh made chili👍🏼👍🏼BLT was also good. Party I was with, had cheeseburger, super good and juicy, avacado wrap and onion rings, everything well done and good. Place is clean and well kept.
Great neighborhood bar, amazing bar food, good for watching sports games, great for week nights
Russel is top tier. Pint of Guinness is as well
Great bar, Zac was super helpful also!
Friendly cozy pub in Williamsburg. It is so close to McCaren Park. The place is not noisy and If you catch the Happy Hours beers, the price gonna be cheap. I'm visiting once a week.
Love the vibe and great place to sit and people watch
The best pub Williamsburg didn’t know it needed. There was a big gap for an easy going, light, bright, fun pub which mugs wonderfully fills. Stellar staff, decent enough drinks and BYOF until their kitchen opens is a nice touch.
Spoke to the owners on our plan to bring 30 people for our post engagement party - they were friendly and happily willing to help. Friendly employees on a Sunday night and would recommend visiting Non-alcoholic options also - yum
5/5 I totally recommend !! Enrique & Marcello are the absolute best! they made me feel so welcome and they truly cared about my experience ! I found something that i lost not to long ago( and i wouldn’t have found it if i didnt didnt ask this about it , i’m truly thankful for them!!! they made my night and this is exactly why i would recommend this place, i had this high towel with a shot of baileys irish cream and ugh i really appreciate mugs and their service !! i thought i lost this scarf forever !
perfect ale house to hang out during the summer and people watch. get a mug of german lager and chow down on a smash burger for the perfect afternoon !
Great Guinness on tap at affordable prices thanks to the happy hour. Cool interior with vintage signs, friendly staff. Will drink again.
Both the Guinness and the smashburger here get A+
I think this was the same place that had food and drinks, but there were two different names. I think I left a review there as well. 10/10 for fun confusion!
I love this place! I stopped by for a beer while the girls were shopping. I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood. The bartender was great.
Hosted my husbands 30th in the back section at Mugs for 30-40 people and it was the perfect space with our own bar and lots of seating. We had the best time! Worked with Zachary who was super helpful in coordinating the event with us, and then the service night of was perfect! The team here is really kind and flexible, so highly recommend for a private event or even just to come for food and drinks. Have loved the opening of Rick & Pete's for food in the back. Mugs is one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood, especially for sports!
Great barman. Music great. All the matches on. Good memories of Mugs years ago. Just as good in the present. Makes sense given the bars relation to 11th street in Manhattan
I’ve attended many birthdays and other special occasions in the main front room at Mug’s, and recently hosted a small get together on a Thursday night. The staff was super accommodating in helping me reserve a few high-top tables, especially given how last-minute my request was. The space is well laid out for gatherings of 20 to 25 people if you are looking to enjoy a bar atmosphere without having to be in a private room. Looking forward to my next visit!
Great bar. Great food. Great atmosphere. Great for Sunday’s NFL
This has been our neighborhood bar for the past two years since they re-opened. There will never be another bar to us like Mugs! Each and every bartender is so warm, attentive, and kind. The best season is when the windows are open and you can drink in the breeze! We always come in with an empty stomach to get food at Rick and Pete’s. Their smashburger is next level!!
Mugs Ale House is a must-visit for beer lovers, especially for their outstanding perfectly poured Guinness—with a rich, smooth flavor. The inviting atmosphere and friendly staff enhance the experience. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by for a pint! Highly recommended!
A nice little dive on Bedford Avenue. A separate bar and separate restaurant but food or drink can be carried across. All the usual beers and spirits are available. Food is adequate. The atmosphere is dark and woody. Good place.
Go-to bar in Williamsburg. They quickly earned my patronage for their attention to detail with regard to a correctly poured Guinness. Consistently a serviceable pint (see photo). Their in-house kitchen serves classic bar style fare done well. It's an easy self-ordering process from your phone and arrives quickly. Most importantly, there's always friendly staff behind the bar, which creates a real "Cheers" neighborhoody feel. Will be back soon!
Loved this cozy pub in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The decorations were nice and I got a kick out of their bar phone which is an old fashioned Public Phone. The bartender Audrey was very nice. The vibe is laid back. They reopened recently, so they don't have food yet but you're allowed to bring in outside food. The space is ample and they have T.V.'s. The music on the day I went was punk rock but it wasn't loud. They have a great Happy Hour but even without getting the well drinks, included in Happy Hour, the prices are great, especially for Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. I'm looking forward to visiting again.
The burgers are very good. The fries are fresh and hot, the mozzarella sticks are crunchy and cheezy, and the vibe is cool. Very nice place. The bartender is the best
They pour a mean Guinness. Friendly fellas behind the bar and some funky tunes you wouldn’t normally hear in an ale house
Great bar, great staff. Pulled up on su day and got to sit in the very sunny window looking out onto Bedford. The Irish coffee was a life saver. Great place to grab a brew watch some sports and hang with the locals.
Wonderful tavern with Gluten-free BEER options!! They don't serve food, but allow people to bring in food. We brought GF pizza from Vinnie's. The bartenders are the best!!
Great neighborhood bar. Want to watch sports? TV’s all over and a massive screen in the back room. For Williamsburg locals, this is Mugs under new management. The original closed during the pandemic (I think). The new owners also run the 11th Street Bar in the East Village (another great spot) and Mugs has a similar vibe. All around the bartenders are really welcoming. There’s what feels like a B&T crowd weekends, which is par for Bedford, but plenty of space that it’s easy for locals to avoid whatever’s going on with that. They do not serve food at the time I’m writing this. Edit: A well- designed backyard has opened. It’s expanded capacity by ~15-20% when the weather’s nice. Open till 10:00. Another reason to recommend Mugs.
A true pint, the games are on, and a window to read by? Sign me up. Food is great, quick, and reasonably priced. Favorite reading spot
Beautiful bar inside that either is from early 1900s or does a good job replicating it. Hidden screens turn on for special events, which was pretty cool.
Good bar with an attentive staff. Went during Knicks playoff game, it was packed and service was still quick.

My fiancée and I had to find a venue to host our engagement party in a short period of time and Mugs saved the day! Everyone on their team was super helpful and were an absolute pleasure to work with. They arranged for us to have the back room all to ourselves and even set us up with our own bartender back there, so all our guests could get drinks easily. The food from Rick and Pete's was also very tasty and our guests really enjoyed it. Their event pricing was very reasonable and the space itself was cozy and laid back. If you're thinking of just grabbing a beer in the hood or planning a large event, I'd definitely recommend Mugs!
Reserved some tables for a large group over Halloween weekend and could not have had a better experience. All of the staff were so accommodating in helping us reserve our tables & made the whole experience that much more fun & easy. 10/10 all around, loved Mugs before but love even more now!

Good selection of beers. They need a better music selection.
Clean congenial place. Just had drinks at bar.
Cool place to have a beer 🍺
Great corner bar. Food is owned by a different entity from the bar and you need to purchase separately. The beer was fresh and cold but the food was just ok. I ordered buffalo wings and fries. The wings were breaded and not crispy. The fries were crispy but had no seasoning on them and no salt or pepper was provided.
Cool pub, fair amount of space, and a decent selection of beer.
Really lovely pub perfect for a cold, wintry day. It's super warm & inviting inside, great list of beers & good cocktails (which I always find a nice bonus from a pub), lovely bar staff and lots of space. I went on a lazy Thursday afternoon and the vibe was cosy and chatty. I'd definitely go again.
Good after work pub on my way home. A good place for a quick bite and a drink!

I am biased, because I loved the original Mugs. This newer interation is okay, but the menu is not the same and scaled down (about half the original draught selection) it has lost the gritty neighborhood pub atmosphere, and the food menu (separate business) is okay but lackluster IMHO. It's a good pub, but lacks the spirit od the OG pub. Might improve over time.
Food was fast and efficient. There is no wait staff so you order from your phone and a food runner brings your food. You must get drinks from the bar. I could not finish my tap beer. The smell of the glass or the beer was not pleasant. The beer did not feel cold and was served in a room temp glass. Smell reminded me of nasty tap lines 🤢. The group of individuals smoking legal cannabis made getting out of the building for our group and an employee almost impossible because the entrance was blocked and the only thing you could smell was cheap low end cannabis. Not a local but it seemed to be a place the locals enjoyed

Cool pub. Nothing too special though.
Went during weekday off hours so your experience may vary but I was served soggy, cold fries, they had terrible ranch and ketchup, and the wings were large but soggy and the chicken quality seemed sub-par. The buffalo sauce on them was the only thing that was ok. None of it was worth even two thirds of the price.

Bad service overall. Flat beer for $$$.
Worst music in the universe, somehow worse food
I am on crutches and went here and someone stole my crutches from me. Didn’t get any help looking at the cameras or anything.
Tried moving some chairs to the front and this lady who worked there came running to us with an attitude that we couldn’t do that. If she said it nicely we would have totally stayed. Walked across the street to Allswell for better vibes. Today’s date is 7/31 and it’s 8:50 pm.
I frequented Mugs when it reopened and even told plenty of friends to go but the one blondish bartender (man) is so extremely rude I won’t be going back. He ignored customers including me and when another customer saw they tried to help by ordering my drink and he started yelling at both of us. Awful service and attitude.
I walked into the restaurant looking for a good burger. Upon entering with my service animal I was told that the establishment is not perfect friendly and explained to them that it was a service animal. The bartender shrugged his shoulder and said it doesn't matter and I was refused service. He said the animal needed a service animal vest which is categorically incorrect. He then asked for paperwork which is a HIPPA violation. I was then berated by a patron who tried to grill me and nosed his way into something that was none of his business. I'll be taking my Business elsewhere and reporting this bar for an ADA violation.

The chilly burger was bland, they forgot every spice. It was also microwave food. The most ridiculous was catchup in the small plastic container and plastic utensils. Cheap, bad, tasteless. On 10.22.2025 it’s cold already, all windows were open and the fries got cold right away, ate my food shivering. But the food was very bad. For $28 on Bedford Ave, you need to do better. This was lowest of the low. Two days passed and I still cannot get over it that I paid on Bedford Ave for such crap $28. Two days later I’m still upset, even angry about this. I actually want my money back.
