New City Brooklyn Reviews
The food is EXCELLENT and their prices are great. For a small Chinese restaurant I was extremely pleased. Decent street parking. The owner is super friendly and never messes up the order. They also accept credit cards so that's a plus!
I ordered the boneless rib tips with French fries. My order was cooked to perfection! I recently spent a few months abroad and I was missing NYC Chinese food, this definitely fulfilled my craving. The fries were crispy and fresh, even after being dressed in ketchup. The rib meat was juicy, not too much fat and lots of meat coated in the perfect amount of sauce. Unfortunately they only accept cash so I ordered with Uber eats while I was in the restaurant. The guy who took my order was nice. The egg roll I ordered was smaller than I expected but also not greasy at all which was nice.
It’s a local Chinese spot serving american Chinese food. Friendly people and fast service. Food is fresh.
The price is impressive Food really good😋
Ordered takeout and got the general tsos tofu. A lot of places don't make it great or even have it, but it was done nicely here. Will prob be my go to place for Chinese in the neighborhood.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. The daily special at $11.50 is an excellent value. Everything I've tried is top tier quick service American style Chinese food
I eat here all the time. General Tso or Orange chicken goes great with Wise Honey BBQ chips and a Coors Light. 🔥

Combos are great, service is quick. Excellent price to quality ratio. Classic Chinese American food done well
Best dumps this side of the East River. Korean fried or regular steamed, thems some tasty treats.
Food was really good. I had French fries with chicken wing. Cash only establishment. Make sure u mention their lunch special or they might not give you the price for those hours. Idk I looked at a photo of the menu and it seems they told me a different price even though I came during discounted hours.
Real good, hood Chinese food… real meat used and sauces are made perfect. Prices are a lil higher than the surrounding Chinese food stores. But when you order chicken, it is chicken! Can’t say that for “most” places…
They practically keep me alive some weeks. Best Chinese food spot in the neighborhood.
Food is great and employees are so nice! I came in very close to closing time and they were out of white rice, but they let me upgrade to fried rice even though i only had enough cash for white rice :) <3

Delivery or takeout, New City is a consistently good experience. The food is fresh, well prepared, & reasonably priced. Their delivery is remarkably fast. The food is really tasty. What's more, I had the opportunity to discover that they operate the business with real integrity. Let me explain. Once--awhile back, I ordered via GrubHub and paid with a card. Talking on the phone when it was delivered--and not paying attention, I looked at the receipt, and without much thought, handed the delivery guy the total--in cash. Multitasking (and hungry), I closed the door, continuing my phone conversation. I was sincerely clueless of my mistake. Within 10-15 minutes my buzzer rang again. It was the owner/manager of New City, who--after walking up several flights of stairs, explained what had happened. They kindly refunded my overpayment of their own accord. I appreciated that and have never forgotten. Consistently good food & prices had already made me a frequent customer. Their kind, honest response to my error definitely reinforced that. I cannot say enough good things about New City. Loyal fan here! ❤️
They have an all day special here where you can pick two entrees instead of just one. I got it with general tso's chicken and sweet & sour chicken, along with an order of wonton soup. All of it was good.

I love the Beef Chow Fun , they put a good amount of beef not like others , but I decided to buy chicken wings and fried rice . The wings were well done just like I like it . But the rice was too undercook . it was hard to eat . I ate the wings and had to throw away the rice . but it had a good flavor , just wish the rice was cooked .

Alright and affordable Chinese food for the area. They are cash only which can cause some inconvenience. Most of the dishes i got were pretty standard but the fried rice was pretty good. Everything needed soy sauce because it was rather bland on its own. An alright option to have around the corner but I'd rather order from other places in the neighborhood.
I had been looking forward to trying New City for a while based on its good press. When I arrived, I was quite surprised - it's like many other hole in the wall Chinese places - not some place I would ever sit to eat. The employees were nice. The food was a solid meh! Boneless spare ribs were good. General Tso's chicken was flavorless & the rice was dreadful (not sure how you mess up rice). So ... I'm glad I went here. Totally a one & done place - absolutely no reason to return.

Went here a few times over the past year, but this last time was really disappointing. The Szechuan wontons were in a sticky brown sauce (made with Ketchup!) and had zero spice to it. I asked for it to be extra spicy and it was just sticky, sweet, and not flavorful. I also got pork lo mein, with added spice. I should have asked for added flavor, because there wasn't any. Really disappointing. Also, cash only.
