Since moving to North America 2 years ago I was starting to lose faith in the continents ability to cook decent Indian/Bangladeshi dishes. Nimbooda has restored that faith. It is delicious, reasonably priced and the portions are a decent size. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Brooklyn.

Nimbooda is hands-down my favorite Indian Restaurant. I should also note that Nimbooda is BYOB with no corkage fee (and Prospect Heights Beer Works is literally one block away). The service is attentive and fast and they deliver. Most importantly, the food is outstanding. There are dishes I usually don't even like that I love here (Chana Masala for example). My favorites (besides that) are: Eggplant Bhindi Bharta, Mushroom Curry, and the Saag. They are accomodating about removing dairy from vegetarian entrees that have it. I highly recommend Nimbooda for anyone looking for Indian food in the area. As with most Indian restaurants, it's very reasonably priced as well. It's an excellent option for a large group dinner on a budget (inexpensive, delicious food and BYOB).

Delicious food and patient staff! We had the place to ourself (lots of takeout orders,) but the dining area is nice. I definitely want to go back and try everything!

Great food and great people! My husband has made such a sweet friendship with the team/family here. Great neighborhood vibe- dine in (byo) or take out. Our local go to. They always accommodate our request to made dishes vegan (no ghee). Channa saag is my hands down fav!!!! My husband loves the aloo gobi. I think they can do the Manchurian cauliflower vegan and we always get samosa and roti. Yum! Love to bring family here when they visit too - grab a bottle of wine for a comfortable dine in experience, vegan and non vegetarians all happy, and you can actually hear each other speak! I never write reviews but I Love Nimbooda.

Really good food and super friendly wait staff. They let us stay pretty late (probably later than we should have) and were very nice about it. Food is great + BYOB (wine store right across the street).

So grateful this place exists in my neighborhood. The food is authentic and always amazing. I usually order the Malai kofta, samosa chat and dal makhani and they are all amazing. Highly recommended.

One of the best places for Indian takeout I’ve ever had. So many places have the same basic dishes, but Nimbooda has an amazing variety. Highly recommend the Saag Chana, Papri chaat, bhindi masala, and the naan with pistachios and raisins.

I love this place! I always get the paneer tikki masala and its so good. Can’t speak on the other food but I have gotten the paneer over 15 times at this point and as a vegetarian I love it.

S

1. Chicken tikka masala was really nice and flavorful, not too creamy. Chicken breast was tender. 2. Crab curry was amazing, really lovely crab flavor. This was the standout for us. 3. Mango lassi was a lovely vibrant color, the best we’ve had in the area. 4. Samosa chaat was yummy but chickpeas were a little too soft for our taste and the sauce was overly sweet. Overall we loved it and can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely fantastic! There is no better Indian restaurant in Brooklyn, as far as I'm concerned. Well, at least not between the Navy Yard and Prospect Expressway and between the East River and Brownsville. The staff is wonderful, and the food surpasses anything in the area. So well spiced, and it all tastes far more fresh and delicious than the competition. Thanks, Nimbooda, for coming to the neighborhood. Please stay longer than I do. :-D EDIT: I did move! And Nimbooda is still goin strong and making AWESOME FOOD. I still come back to this neighborhood just to eat at Nimbooda because it's that much better than everywhere else. And don't forget they deliver!!

Nimbooda is my favorite Indian restaurant in Bklyn. There’s a sense of delicacy in foods and you can feel that it’s made by a thoughtful, skilled chef… (e.g. I was touched by the details like the small ginger topping on the saag paneer) Recommendations: Dal Tadka / Paneer Bhurjee / Saag Paneer *** When choosing a rice option for the curries, quinoa is a real gem.

This is great neighborhood Indian food. 25 years ago, Joy Indian on Flatbush was excellent. Not sure what happened but we stopped ordering. So I’m glad to have a solid contender east of Vanderbilt. We enjoyed trying some of the things that I haven’t seen on other Indian restaurant menus in NYC. I’m not an expert at all but I LOVE food from all parts of Southwleast Asia and try it frequently. So I’m glad there’s a solid spot over here. I will definitely order again.

The sit-down experience is PHENOMENAL. The food is incredible, I've been given free rice pudding SEVERAL times, everyone is so pleasant, and there's a 25% discount for dine-in rn??? The sweet potato chaat changed my life. Every single item on the menu I've ordered has been amazing. To order delivery from this sacred restaurant is like getting to HEAVEN'S GATE, and then not even GOING IN. My favorite restaurant in the area, and it's not even close. Had been here for lunch. We got their tomato basil soup and chicken Manchurian to start with. The soup was thick and delicious and felt so soothing on a cold winter day. The Manchurian was slightly sweeter but very nicely made. It was served with mint chutney, ketchup and tamarind chutney. We got chicken biryani next and it was amazing. Very flavorful and good portion size. Service was friendly and quick. Will surely be back.

A small restaurant with pretty darn good food. Everything I tried was tasty. I had lentil soup, lamb with coconut curry, spinach with chick peas, and roti. The lamb was a bit overcooked but the sauce it was in was excellent. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. I would definitely try again next time I'm in the area.

C

This restaurant offers a decent selection of popular indian dishes. I was happy to find salmon tikka but the small portion was a little disappointing. We had 2 vegan members with us and they were able to order a few dishes. Which makes this place an easy choice for a group of people with different preferences. So overall a good experience

J

I was craving for some yellow lentil Dahl on this chilly cold day and I wanted try another place than my usual one. I picked a winner. The Dahl kicks me in the best way, has a little spice and I almost finished it if it’s not for the Chicken Chettinad. My first time trying this dish and it’s another winner. Good amount of chicken breasts in a mild spicy red curry. The only thing that fell flat is the Aloo Paratha - the potato paste is too thin that I hardly taste and paratha is too thick and heavy than the ones I had in Asia. I have to dip into the Chettinad sauce for each bite and I can’t finish half of it. A star off for that but overall, great food and price too. Definitely will order again 👍🤓

J
Javier Kohen

The food is good. We tried the crab curry and the lamb in almond sauce, plus fried paneer cubes as an appetizer. Everything was good, but I've had better in other restaurants: the flavors could be more distinct, and I prefer the curries a bit chunky. The lachha paratha (bread) was outstanding without being too buttery. The service was friendly and attentive, the prices are competitive, and the atmosphere is refined. The best Indian restaurant I know in Brooklyn.

J
Jovine Marcotte

This place is great and the food is amazing!! The service was really nice, as well as the decor. Prices are reasonable, too. The only thing is the temperature. It was pretty cold in there, the whole time, because the door is glass and takes forever to close. It also seem like there isn't a heater. But it was really nice; we had a good time!

O

Good. The chicken in the tikka masala was just a little dry in texture and the saag paneer was a touch salty. However, it was satisfying. The keema naan was exceptional.

This is a really nice Indian restaurant. The staff were very helpful and kind, and the food was excellent. The achari tandoori mushrooms, excellent. The eggplant chaat, also excellent. Unfortunately I was by myself so I didn't get to order more stuff (well rice, but always rice), but I'd love to come back to try more.

This is the only Indian restaurant in NYC that I've eaten at in-person more than I've gotten take-out from. It's a tiny place that's never busy inside, but then again few Indian restaurants ever are since most of the business comes from take-out/delivery. Nimbooda's servers are incredibly hospitable and often bring out a little amuse bouche before the meal comes out (another perk to going in-person). I love the food. My favorites include the samosa chaat, chicken korma, and kandhari naan. If you have a sweet tooth and want a twist on your naan, get the kandhari naan! It's a little sweet and super buttery and SO GOOD. BYOB. Winey Neighbor is just up the street. And if you forget to bring something beforehand, they're cool about you running out to grab a bottle. Inside it's really cozy with an intimate vibe. I'll be back soon!

Z

A three of an Indian restaurant. Sauce is good, chicken is awful and overcooked. Spinach is bad. King of tandoor much better.

order a take out. price:food was okay but they didn't provide any utensils at all even after asking explicitly. so couldn't really eat it conveniently.

Hannah J. Song

The chicken tikka masala was flavorful and spicy but on the watery side :( their saag paneer was good but not enough cheese. Good garlic naan... their papadoms were the worst I’ve ever had. Super stale and tasted like a wet rag for some reason.... their customer service is really good though. Not sure if I would order from them again.

R
Reed Whitmont

Extremely bland, with added food coloring. Very boring.

N
Natalie Girvan

This place was a slightly upscale Indian restaurant. I took my husband here for hos birthday and he liked the food. We both had shrimp korma per our request because that's not on the menu. I must say it taste more like curry rather than the sweet almond flavor that it should be. There were no raisins or almonds in the sauce but the was a marchiano cherry in it. The mango lassi was super thick although not sweet, I had to keep adding water in it to dilute it. I don't think I would be returning. I will stick to Pearl's on Franklin.

T
Tamara

Okay if you're looking for something quick and flavorful. The garlic naan bread was spot on👌. The only issue was the chicken koorma. The dish is usually made with almonds but this was prepared with cashews and raisins, not what I was accustomed to.

NIMBOODA ONCE UPON A TIME SERVICE USE TO BE GOOD, NOW IT SUCKS..THEY ARE NOT ATTENTIVE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS AND ARE VERY RUDE! THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS MORE ON POINT BEFORE. LATELY, THE MANAGER HAS BEEN RUDE TO MY HUSBAND. SO AT THIS POINT THEY LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER.

S
Stephanie Mendez

Tikka masala was too acidic. Potatoes tasted of freezer. Completely disappointing and baffled as to why this is the highest rated Indian restaurant in the neighborhood.

W
Will Evans

Pretty surprised that people liked the tikka masala...tasted like Campbell's tomato soup to me, and it was under spiced and with dry, rubbery chicken. Better bet is Sapid, a block away.

Nimbooda, your customer service, your quality, and especially your quantities are TRASH since things have changed in there! I miss the nice woman who was running the joint previously. This may be the last time I order from here, tbh. Sad, since I used to order here often! I recently ordered the Cauliflower Manchurian & the coconut naan. I have ordered this many times before. The manchurian has gotten SOOOO much smaller, and the prices have soared sky high. There were only SIX (6!!!) in total worth of cauliflower florets in my order, each about the size of a dollar coin, with one piece being only about the size of a nickel! For over $8, that is about $1.50 per floret! It used to be half the container was full, now everything flies around it because it is so empty. Hardly no scallion and the flavor was not the same, either. The craziest part? I bought 2 WHOLE heads of Cauliflower for JUST $3 later that night! The coconut naan was burnt black but the flavor was usual, the only reason I'm giving the extra star. Totally poor experience these last few times.

L
Lee Card

Ordered 2 prix-fix meals tonight and the food arrived in a timely fashion. The lamb & chicken vindaloos were good, Onion naan was okay. However, the Garlic Naan was disgustingly burnt without any cilantro on it. And, the order did not come with the promised mango chutney/tamarind or any other condiments.

G
Ganga Verma

The food was sub par compared to other Indian places throughout New York. The portions were small (paneer tikka was 3 inch squares of paneer for $8.00). Food was cold by the time it came out. Ras Malai tasted like it was a pre-bought version you can buy at Indian grocery stores and defrosted. Was expecting much better based on the positive ratings.

R
Rob Williams

There could have been any fish in the Lobster Curry. The curry aauce was so strong and heavy I don't know what I ate. The naan was good and others enjoyed their meals.

P
Peter Kingswell

The Rogan Josh was an unrecognizable bright red goop and tasted like tomato soup. The guy who I picked up the order from was basically very rude and stands outside smoking frequently. Bummer.

JJ Harrison
JJ Harrison

We ordered two chaats and an order of samosa. While the samosas were okay, both chaats were cold. We couldn't even believe it when we touched the container and it was stone cold. I was incredibly disappointed 😞. I won't ever be back, but I hope others have a great time. They seem to have a nice space for dining in. Take out, however, is probably not your best option.

S
Sara Yerramilli

Food was terrible. Onion bujia tasted awful. Kadai paneer was watery and paneer didn’t even have any taste. Veg biriyani was too oily and filled with overcooked broccoli.

p
pooja padmakumar

The kathi rolls were awful! Definitely the worst Indian food I've had

D
Deployment Inc INC

Sent in incorrect orders. Then made me repeat my address 5 times even though we have similar Indian accent. Ordered 5 rosmalai and 4 rice pudding. They sent me 3 rosmalai and 4 sour cream . I called and requested to fix it. If they fix the issue properly I will come back and fix my review. If they did not satisfy, this review will remain here.

S
Soji Baby

Bad bad food, chicken is definitely the worst quality meat you can buy disguised in spicies so its harder to tell. Everything is overcooked to smithereens. They really don't care about cleaniness standards and practices and it will all go into your food regardless of if you can tell or not. Yuck.

C

The bad: Food - When people say NYC doesn't have good Indian food it's because of places like this. It's the same cookie cutter bland food you can get at 100s of Indian spots here, no spice, no oil, no authenticity, made in 5mins. It's made to cater to the pallette of folks who DONT like spicy food. I actually asked that they make our food spicy, but they didn't. My Saag Paneer was a bowl of cooked spinach with paneer - nothing else. Utterly flavorless to the point that it is insulting. 🤬 The good: Decor is decent. Prices are good. The ugly: It was summer, inside the restaurant was very warm, maybe 80-85f. No fans anywhere. I asked for A/C and they said "it's on but the wall is blocking it" meanwhile employee area has a small fan on blast. Owners probably forbid employees from touching the A/C The true kicker was the "togo" boxes were the tiny Chinese takeout boxes. Tell me you're the world cheapest restaurant owner without having to tell me! 😂

B
Brooke Seyoum

There was hair in my food and the tikka was watered down. Chicken was low quality as well. I’m disgusted.

A
Abhinav Yadav

The experience here was not great. We had a dine in on a cold rainy day. The place is small and cosy. I think they are more popular as take away since there was no one apart from us on a weekend. What I found very unprofessional was the change in price of food after we placed the order. They jack up the cost stating that the menu is outdated. However, my biggest disappointment was the tea they served, it was no where close to masala chai. The naans we good but the kadahi paneer was just capsicums with few other stuff. Not sure why it is so highly rated.

A
Agrita Dubey

This place is highly overated based on Google review stars. The food is not up to the mark and prices are on a higher side. Quantity is okay. We ordered masala tea, unlike most of the Indian restaurants the tea was not 'home-made'. Instead felt like tea bags from Trader Joe's with milk on side. Samosa Chaat was decent but low on quantity. Kadai paneer was a big disappointment. No gravy, no taste ..just peppers mixed with paneer. I do not recommend this place if one is looking for good homely Indian food.

C
Chris Waldron

Ordered via seamless. They blamed their bike guy but continue to give me half truths and blowing me off. Food is good but know the service is poor.

J
Julia Marquez

I was enjoying my food so much. SO much. before discovering my new friend. i didn’t realise he’d be included in the order. His presence was unwanted for sure. For how good the reviews are i imagine this isn’t a regular occurrence, still, it’s a darn shame. just thought i’d take note of it.

NAZ RUL
NAZ RUL

The shop is fairly decent, but I noticed one thing — the behavior towards people who place orders online isn’t very pleasant. It feels like only in-store customers get proper care. But placing an order online is still the same purchase, just through a different channel. Hopefully, they’ll pay more attention to this in the future.

MARLYN D
MARLYN D

Allergic to peppers.. Was promised there would be no peppers or spice and i understand this is an Indian restaurant. However I have ordered from here before many times over the year and revived no peppers or spices in my food but got home and couldn't get the 2 meals I purchased because I found dried Chilli peppers in my food
