Oak & Iron Brooklyn Reviews
Classic neighborhood dive bar. Exactly what you want, strong drinks, cheap prices. It’s cozy and inviting and the regulars were very friendly. The bartender was sweet and quick. Seems to be dog friendly, we met a puppy and a doggo in pearls named Dolly Parton!
To echo what someone else said: strong drinks, friendly service, but above all, cheap. Anything less than a 5/5 is a sinful. Thanks guys
Oak is one of my favorite friendly neighborhood spots. They always have a great list of draughts with a few rotating taps. This place isnt a rowdy frat bar, it's a place that has an admirable following of locals and wanderers. The kind of place you go when you're looking for some good conversation. The bar staff is always wonderful and the bathroom is always clean.

I first came here in 2018 and visited frequently. I just revisited after not having been here in a while. I loved it then and I still love it. It feels like it's from another era. It is a warm and inviting bar. There have been some minor changes but it still retains it's character. Mr. Moose, I'm happy to report, is still there above the fireplace. For some reason a cut out of Britany Spears has been added. The bartenders here are always nice, as are the customers. The prices are good and the selection of Draft Beers is good. The Cocktails are also very good. I will have to start visiting more often.
I LOVED this place! A friend brought a few of us along, knowing that I would probably enjoy it. The bartender was PERFECT! (We were there on a Saturday afternoon, I sadly didn't get her name...or if I did, I forgot it!) Everyone ordered something different and she was quick, funny, prompt, all the right things. It has a nice neighborhood feel and the bathroom is awesome! (My personal dive-y bar measurement.) I have a feeling it might get nuts on a weekend night (or even just any night) but it was the perfect place to grab a couple afternoon beverages. No pretensions, no stupid frills, just a BAR! Huzzah!
Good setting. Bartenders know their customers. Im a fan
Great beer, they have history nights which are very fun
Overall rating: 4.7 I absolutely loved this bar and will become one of my go tos when I’m in the area. Super chill, laid back, rustic energy. I wish I took some pictures, but I’ll have to update this when I come back again :) this is a great spot for solo, friends, dates and anything in between. I thought the bartenders were so nice and the locals were chill. I didn’t feel creeped out or weird at all. The booths are also different seating than I’m used to, but also loved. Wish it was a tad, tad darker & slightly too bright. But highly recommend!
Oak and Iron is a great neighborhood bar. It has a great seating setup. You have stools around the bar itself and 3 large booths where you can sit facing your group. There a lot of outdoor seating in a street shanty. It's not a dive bar. It's also not so upscale that you feel uncomfortable. The staff is great. Every bartender I have met is pleasant and attentive.
I knew this was the right place after ordering an old fashion, the owner pulls out a thick glass mixer, fills it with large ice cubs, and begins to stir religiously. Great cocktails, affordable, quiet crowd. Owner is hospitable and typically behind the bar. Nice getaway from the craziness down the street.
Place is great. Reliable traditional bar on a busy street. The people are always nice!
A great bar for the first warm day in New York. Great cocktails and bar treats
This place is special. There are bars all over the neighborhood but this is one of the only neighborhood bars. It's not pretentious, it's not over-priced, there's no sense of it being patronizing or contrived. It's a bar. As mundane as that sounds, it's actually quite rare.

I was here one weekday night with friends to watch live jazz. The theme of the bar was sort of sailor and carpenter-themed. The jazz band was alright but a bit rudimentary. Overall it was a fine night.

Aloof bartenders who are working for the irony of work. Dark lighting, design feels like early 20th centruy. Beers avg $7 with a happy hour from 4-8p. On Franklin Street with soooo many other food and drink options, you'd likely be happier picking another bar.

Good prices for the area and super strong drinks but like way too strong and not what you asked for. My friend couldn't swallow her drink because of how badly it tasted, she asked the bartender to fix it and it got worse. I couldn't finish my drink which tasted like pure alcohol.

Used to love to come here was a bartenders bar with the best but seems they have all left the building. Dog bar ... I think not but it's gone to the dogs used to have great music alternative, goth and great stuff not country but yeah may as well play stale music for this stale place sad what happened to New York's best bartender where is she now ???? Sad service and drinks so awful never go back. Too strong does not make a good drink and the crowd now is changing too.
Hard to rate this place because there was no staff to serve us. Waited for 15 minutes. Anyone easily could have walked in and taken what they wanted. It’s a great street, so kept moving.
