The Astarita Brooklyn Reviews
Great spot for a lowkey, intimate birthday dinner with family or a casual bite with friends! The seasonal salad is a must. The arugula pizza was a group favorite as well. Thank you to Tina and team for helping host our group of 18– so welcoming, attentive and yum. Throwback playlist was a plus.
Just had eggplant parm and a huge calzone delivered. The best eggplant with ricotta that I ever had, and the calzone is huge and so delecious. Asterita’s is a must try!! Warm atmosphere and the owner Tina, is very friendly and attentive!🍕
Stumbled upon this pizza place after a stroll through Greenwood. The staff was attentive, even though we were there during off hours and the pizza was fantastic! We ordered the Mr. William and would recommend to anyone visiting Brooklyn!
The laid back atmosphere made it easy and comfortable for dining with our kids, who are already asking when are we going back?! The pizza was absolutely delicious. Great sauce with a light and airy crust, you won't feel bad that you had four slices! The whipped marscapone on the Nutella pizza helped to make it the best I'd ever had. I will absolutely be going back very soon!
This place is a hidden gem. I'm not sure why it wasn't more packed. The pizza was delicious. It was a perfectly crispy crust and didn't get soggy with all the toppings that we ordered. The cheese was absolutely top quality as well. This is one of the best pizza places I've been to and I make it a point to try a lot. I'd love to go back and just get the plain pizza. I'm sure it's perfect.
Both non vegans and vegans enjoyed the food here! Great staff and the outdoor seating is cute!
What just happened?! I came in here because for some reason Luigi's was closed on a late Saturday afternoon. Yes, this isn't a slice shop. Honestly, I randomly saw this place out the window of a bus as I was passing by... Crispy thin crust, robust flavorful sauce, thick fresh cheese, fantastic veggie toppings. Reminded me of a New Haven style pizza in terms of size and finish. We also had the Cesar salad to start, and it was perfect. Fresh baby kale, high quality craisins, crunchy walnut bits, and tasty goat cheese nuggets. Don't sleep on this exceptional location! 🙏🏻
Amazing food, service and vibe. Owner is very nice and has an authentic neopolitan wood burning stove that's makes the crispiest crust that side of Brooklyn. Highly recommend great prices as well!!
AMAZING pizza (so good I forgot to take a photo). We got the Capriccioso and the Greenwood Vegetable and two salads. Nice crispy thin crust, great sauce, fresh toppings. 12/10
The “mr. William” is a must. It’s an amazing atmosphere and Tina is the sweetest. Has a very cozy atmosphere, like you’re going to your aunts house for Sunday dinner. Love this spot. 10/10 such an amazing addition to the neighborhood!
Ordered out the calzone and pie with anchovy. Love love love the crust. Have since built our own calzone and pies depending on how much we want pizza as supplement to dinner. Located in residential block of Greenwood, this pizza place is perfect for the neighborhood. Can also imagine it a close enough walk for those visiting Green-wood Cemetery for their programs and walking tours.
Just had a pepperoni pizza, it was excellent. The spot is very cute, and the people there were nice. It's great to have a good spot because that area on the graveyard is kind of a dead zone (pun intended). There menu looks great, we're going to try it again next week.
Top tier pizza, this neighborhood gem is hands down the best in the area. The Mr. Williams pizza did not disappoint.

Mama Mia 🤌 I'm a truck driver, and I've tried many different places throughout every state, but I've never had pizza like this place. Its pizzas are unmatched, the best I've had. I wish the chef the best of health to live to 100. Pizza #1✔️
The nicest people, the best food, so cozy! Thank you guys!
I can not even begin to explain how amazing this place is! The atmosphere is so laid back and relaxing, the staff is so friendly and accomodating. And the food.....OMG. The pizza is so fresh and crispy. And the dessert pizza.....beyond amazing. I would highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to everyone!!! I will definitely be back soon!!
My first time at The Astarita! What a cute little place. The atmosphere was so friendly and the service was impeccable. We tried the meatball as an appetizer! 👍🏽 Delish!! We tried the “Mr. William” pizza and “Pizza Bianco” for dinner. I never knew honey on pizza was even thing 👌🏽. Sooo good! And that Ricotta 🤤. They even have dessert, so to finish we had the “Miss Sofia” for Dessert! You have got to try it!! 🫶🏼This place overall is an absolute must try!! If you are in the area check it out. 🤌🏽🇮🇹🍕🍷#Foodcoma #Brooklyn #TheAstarita
Best pizza I’ve had in a long time! Friendly staff and great corner location. Outdoor sheeting is perfect for a great family night out. My kids loved it!!
Great addition to the neighborhood! Nice cozy ambiance and delicious pizza. We had the seasonal salad and the pizza with pepperoni and hot honey - both fantastic. As of today still BYOB.
Delicious! My son was talking about it and I finally got to try it not long ago. Now it's our "special" dinner spot. He begs to go. Staff is always friendly and we always order a little extra to take home. Even at the risk of it getting very overcrowded, highly recommended!
Stopped by this place because I live in the neighborhood and thought it was great! BYOB which is awesome and pizzas very tasty and well-priced. Split a pizza and a salad between two people and was the perfect amount of food. Great spot for a cheap date!
Beautiful place and authentic italian pizza. We love it and come often.
This place is so nice just like the owners. The woman is a sweetheart very personable. The pizza is delicious believe me you have to taste it for yourself
I've eaten here many times. Consistently delicious. Such a friendly staff. So glad it's in my neighborhood.
Great new pizza restaurant. We had the Williams pizza, Caesar salad and the Nutella pizza for the kids. All were delicious, the ambiance is nice and cozy and great service too.
Excellent food and ambiance along with a terrific staff. Pizza is unbelievable, light & airy.
This is one of the best pizza places. I'm so glad it's in our neighborhood
Amazing night out with incredible pizza and wonderful service for my first night out after an operation! Definitely coming back!!
Tina the owner and Paola our waitress were amazing! This place is a local gem. Can’t wait to return!
Very nice pizza! A little pricey but well worth it. Service is tentative but friendly. You can tell they're trying hard.
Delicious crispy pizza and a lovely homemade tiramisu. Cute atmosphere and very friendly service, will definitely be back to try more!
This is such a wonderful spot for a local family dinner date year round - cozy in winter and a sunny patio in summer. Great atmosphere, excellent food, and really welcoming warm staff, and an owner who goes above to take care of you. A real neighborhood gem! Love the Seasonal Salad, the Mr. William pizza, and our 5 year old inhales the Pesto Pasta every time. If you still have room you will not regret treating yourself to the Miss Sofia Nutella dessert pizza!
Really a special place.. warm inviting with kind hard working people. The food was really delicious. Honestly that was the best calzone I've had in my life (wife agreed!) and the pizza was chef's kiss. There are places like a certain one that will go unnamed on Henry Street that are honestly overrated. La Astarita however deserves a line out the door. Look forward to returning. Thank you for a lovely Sunday evening!
This pizzeria is a godsend to the neighborhood. It’s my go to place when friends or family visit. It’s not pretentious and there is never a wait for a table unlike many highly rated pizza places in Brooklyn and their pizza is on the same level as places that have lines waiting around the block. The staff goes above and beyond and is so accommodating- it is small but I had my entire family visit plus a baby in a carriage and they rearranged the restaurant so that everyone fit comfortably including the baby. The ambiance feels so special and unique, it’s such a neat building on the corner facing the green and lush historic Greenwood Cemetery. They have expanded their menu since first opening and now have a wine list, I can’t wait to keep coming and watching them evolve. Astarita has quickly become a neighborhood gem.
This is a local stop for us and we are enjoying their expanding menu and attractive prices. We tried their meatballs for the first time and I've been on the hunt to try to recreate them at home. Really nice! They were cooked through, light and tasty. The 3 year old gave a thumbs up! Apparently you can make reservations now and that's important for the winter months as the seating inside is limited (in a good way).
Great food! Loved the meatballs! Loved the pizza! Only recommendation maybe add some garlic to the white pizza. Other than that great lil place to grab lunch or dinner.
Big fan of this place! Lucky to have such a fantastic sit down pizza spot right around the corner in an otherwise subdued neighborhood. Pizza's are on the larger side for the Italian style that they offer and are perfectly charred around the edges with a variety of well curated topping choices. The Mr Williams is my favorite. (pepperoni & hot honey). Super friendly servers as well. Currently BYOB, but they're very accommodating if you choose to bring your own bottle of wine.
This place has good pizza. The crust is thicker than some brick oven pizza, which I loved. The pepperoni with honey was my favorite of the 3 we tried but all we very yummy. Salad was very standard pizza place salad, but it is the house salad and I didn’t see the how the other salads were presented. The outside seating is lovely. It’s a pretty quiet block across the street from greenwood cemetery, a great place to walk after your meal! The inside is also chic and cool. The building is old and repurposed. I would definitely recommend and I would go back to try other options and specials!!
Consistently Amazing crispy thin crust pizza in a charming low key pizza restaurant across from Greenwood!! Salads are so fresh , large and delicious too!! Also they serve 3 different Other Half beers!!
I can’t say enough about how great The Astarita was with a big group (17 people!) for my birthday dinner! Every pizza was stellar, the Mr. William hot honey pepperoni and Nutella were my favorites but there was something for everyone and lots of vegetarian options. The service was awesome and so flexible/accommodating with the big group reservation and planning. Will definitely be back but for anyone looking to have a big group and have a great and relaxed experience (which is so hard to find in NYC!) this should be your go to place! Thank you to the Astarita team! 🤩
This is a great recent addition to the neighborhood. The food is fabulous and the service is great. We have picky kids and they love the pizza, all the pastas, and the dessert Nutella pie. Plus you can get any pizza with vegan mozzarella which is great for us because we have a lactose intolerant family member. We have been several times already and we will be back.
Went there for dinner with my wife and daughter, was by far the best meal we have had in New York in the eight days we have been here on vacation! The staff is super friendly, music is perfect in quality and volume to complement the delicious food we were served. Would definitely return and will recommend to friends & family! Keep it up guys, you rock!
My partner is allergic to gluten so we split a gluten free pizza. As someone who loves gluten, this was the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had - maybe even one of the best pizzas I’ve had ever - full stop. The salad was massive, which made it worth the price point. And the interior is incredibly beautiful.
We live in the neighborhood and love it here! Great food, amazing staff, cute indoor and outdoor seating
Had an awesome time sitting on the patio drinking Menabrea beer. Took advantage of the vodka sauce special and it was SO GOOD. They let you do half a pizza with one topping/variety and the other half with a different one, which is really cool. Also, super nice people work there - thank you guys!!
Really solid little sit-down pizza spot, hidden off the beaten path. The pizzas are perfection, and the charming interior feels like a fancy night out, never loud or crowded. I love bringing friends here when we're in the area. They're always blown away and ask 'how did you find this??' Truly a hidden gem.
I got lucky! I read the reviews and decided it was the place to go! Being from CT I know pizza! These guys got it right! It’s not a big fancy place but it’s nice, new looking and very clean. Our waitress was very friendly and took care of us. If I come back to the area we will for sure be back.
Came in a couple of weeks ago with my family, was super excited to try this new addition to the neighborhood. Exceeded expectations, really delicious pizza, the owner was incredibly welcoming, a cozy space (small but also genuinely cozy, feels really nice to be there!). Will absolutely go back.
Excellent service, excellent food. perfect spot for the family, perfect spot for a date, perfect spot if you want to have a few beers (or wine) and a nice pie alone. Glad to have this restaurant in the neighborhood, I will be a frequent customer. I suggest you try the delicious Mr.William, and support a local family business with an amazing staff. The Quattro formagi was also amazing, the Margherita was perfect. If you’re craving desert their Nutella pizza crust pie comes decorated with strawberries and bananas that guarantee deliciousness with every bite. The tiramisu is also to die for. I almost forgot the meatballs are amazing as well. You’ll get 2 large meatballs that could provide you 8 nice size pieces, with some ricotta cheese that just fits so perfectly with it… chefs kiss to this spot I must say!!
first time here definitely coming back I had an amazing experience ! A special shout out to the staff who helped us out
Let me start off by saying this place is one of my favorite pizza spots. It’s close to my home so I’m always ordering from here. However, I literally just ordered a pizza and the entire crust is burnt, as well as a few pepperonis. I still love this place, but they need to fix this problem. Not the first times it’s hapelened to me
Everything was perfection! The seasonal salad was amazing! Just when I should be full, the four seasons pizza came to our table! I would eat this during any season for sure! (I finally said enough after 3 slices) Quaint, warm and friendly!!!! Can’t wait to go back!
Tasty pizza, great service, and BYOB. The atmosphere is great and the staff are friendly. Most importantly, the pizza is so good! Thin and crispy crust cooked perfectly with delicious toppings. One of my favorite places to get a pizza in all of NYC.
Amazing pizza! It's a bit pricy and we wish there were some more topping options but it is delicious.
Very good pizza, Not your regular pizzeria! They have a very small menu, but everything is Brick Oven style! The restaurant is personal & small but again it has a family atmosphere, cute design & friendly customer service! Overall I highly recommend this place, best margarita pie in town!
This is such a little blessing in the neighborhood. The food is great and the chefs are always working new things onto the menu, the service is superb, and the atmosphere is so relaxing. I don’t know her name but one of the servers is an all time favorite, she has great energy!
Everything was wonderful. I recommend the vodka sauce. Pizza was perfection. All flavors blended beautifully with fresh ingredients. Our server was very friendly and not fake. Love the Tuscan style vibe of the pizza shop. 100% recommended!!
We had a great meal at The Astarita – delicious and generous portions, with excellent service. It’s a different side of Brooklyn here – calmer and more relaxed than just a few blocks south. Plus, there's an intriguing view of the place across the street that adds a unique charm to the experience. Highly recommended!
This place is a true neighborhood gem. A huge group of us came for a meal after my dad's funeral service at Greenwood Cemetery, and everything was so perfect. The staff were so kind and accommodating, and the food was incredible. Everyone raved about the classic NY pie and the white pie. Can't wait to visit again (under more joyful circumstances)!
This is some of the best high quality pizza you can get. The only downside is their hours. They are basically only open for dinners except for Friday where they are oddly open for lunch. How is a pizza place not open on the weekends for lunch?
Ordered off of ubereats. It’s really good! Nice crust, nice sauce, nice cheese. It’s a solid pizza.
Group of 7 after bowling nearby. The pizza toppings were tasty and not overwhelming, and the pizza was cooked to perfection - which in my view includes a little char on the crust. The service was prompt and friendly with a family vibe. We are so glad we happened on this place and will definitely be back!
One of the most delicious pizza i ever ate in nyc and I am here almost for 10 years also chef is very cool person
I love the pizza- they have a classic What I think is a brick oven pizza And it came out amazing I got the pepperoni hot honey pizza-It was amazing It was super good in the combination of flavors- It was a nice crispy slice but not too thin And even though it is a thinner slice it still fills you up without having it feel like you're getting the itis after two slices. I think for the price that you're paying for which is about 20 some odd dollars for the pie it's worth it Really good pizza Totally worth it Plus the actual sitting area inside and outside is a vibe Great for a nice chill night with your partner going out with friends to get some good eats
Tried this place the first time a couple weeks ago and loved it! We had the perfect dinner- a salad, pizza, and a pasta! Plus the recommended wines were well priced and delicious. Already have ordered take-out a couple times since. This is our new favorite neighborhood pizza spot for sure!
Excellent pizza, one of the best in the area. Great service and a nice relaxed ambiance in the place as well.
Great experience! Friendly staff, amazing food, very clean space. When I was leaving I used a cup to fill my water bottle and someone from the staff came and filled my water bottle all the way up which I didn’t expect but it was very much appreciated! I will be back. Ps use the left door to enter, thank me later :)
Just what we were looking for. I got the New York pizza with sausage and red peppers, it was excellent as well as the desserts. Very glad we were able to find this great place.
Their Classic NY Pizza is DYNAMITE!!! Honestly my wife is starting to get on me about having it too often! The people are so nice and friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and they have a small, but very nice wine list. I ‘accidentally’ get there early for pick up so I can enjoy a glass of red while waiting! Wish I could give six stars!!
Love this wonderful neighborhood restaurant! We were in town this past week visiting our kids and had a delightful time. Service was outstanding too We ordered the meatballs, Rose pizza and Caesar salad and everything was delicious! Often Caesar salads have too much dressing for my taste but this one was utter perfection. We will be returning soon, and we are all dying to try the Nutella pizza!
We dined in on a Saturday, we were a party of 8…. The restaurant is charmingly decorated, the service was impeccable, and most important the FOOD is Delicious! The owners obviously seemed to be hard working as they came over to speak with us. We were delighted with finding out their story and hard work on getting started. The pizza is brick oven, the oven comes from Italy and was built in their restaurant. The hospitality and service VERY friendly, you feel as if you’re eating at your grandmas house. I highly recommend this restaurant. Will definitely come back.
I am no spring chicken and have a long history of loving pizza. The pizza I had last night was the BEST pizza I have ever had, ever. The crust is thin but not dry. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. We had the four seasons pizza which was amazing. The arugula salad with mushrooms was great as well. Service was great, and we wish Tina much success with her great restaurant
Love this place! Great addition to the neighborhood and the owners and wait staff are very kind and accommodating. Love their Pizza (in particular the Mr. Williams) but all of their food is great, and they have continually added new items to their menu since opening. If you haven't checked it out recently it's worth going back. They now have their liquor license and offer more pasta and desert options in addition to the already amazing salad and pizzas. We sometimes dine with our young son here during the off hours and the are always super kind to him.
The Seasonal Salad was delicious and could feed 4. The Mr. Williams pizza was also great - perfectly crispy! Staff was super friendly and attentive.
Salad to start was excellent and generously portioned. Then came the pizza— delicious. Our new favorite neighborhood restaurant. Warm atmosphere and service on a chilly evening.
Such a gem in the neighborhood if you like a really crispy crust, proper sauce and high quality ingredients! I highly recommend sausage pizza and mushroom with ricotta pizza. Delicious. Shared a pizza among 2 adults, 2 kids. Perfect size.
One of my favorite pizza spots! I love the Mr. William pizza and homemade meatballs. The service here is always so friendly, kind, and fast. There is ample seating inside and the ambiance is very peaceful. The outdoor seating is perfect, I can't wait until it's warm enough again to enjoy a slice under the fairy lights!
First rate pizza! Absolutely spectacular. And don’t sleep in the Caesar salad. Amazing service, vibe, killer playlist. This is a restaurant you’ll want to repeat again and again.

Lovely pizzeria, with sandwiches at lunch, in addition to salads at all times. Very attentive service makes you feel at home. Beverages, wine, and beer, as well as desserts, are available.

Nice place, but the sauce is too sweet, and the rosé, which came highly recommended by the server, was mediocre. I'll give it another try. It's a real shame because except for sauce, the place is great.
The pizza was very good. The crust had a nice oven, roasted crisp, the flavor of the sauce and cheese were good. I would say the margarita fell a little bit flat-it needed a little something. We also had a sausage and roasted red pepper that was much more interesting and flavorful. The room is bright and cheerful as well as was the service. They accommodated our large party with grace.
Ok so yes 3 stars for food!! Burnt pizza which you can easily see in pics. A very easy fix by trimming off the burnt crust. Taste was good and holds up like it should. Veggie pizza was mixed with margarita but the veggie side was too sogged up and did not hold up to the amount of veggies that were on the pizza. This was a group of 7 and my daughter said it may have been an off night.. it’s Friday it should be your best night. I saw other pizzas that had same look of burnt pizza and where the crust was left behind bc it was way to burnt.

Very good pizza and fresh ingredients (and I am Italian ...) but an extremely disorganized staff, sometimes rude wth customers. Note: super small and unconfortable tables - and shaking chairs - outside!
The "margherita pizza" seemed to be actually just a cheese pizza with some basil leaves thrown into the takeout box. The calzone was waaaay short on ricotta, to the point that it was hard to tell if there was really any in there; would otherwise benefit from some herbs to lend it some flavor. The menu could also use some additional options for toppings.
Female manager or owner scowled at us versus a “hello” or “welcome” as is polite customary practice to greet new customers. I had to ask if this was “Astarita” before she scowled an answer. Boris, our server, seated us outdoors due to the shower booked inside. Despite the reviews, Mr. William pizza was bland. Charging $4.00 to sub mushrooms in place of (much more expensive) pepperoni meat without transparency was a bit miserly. Okay seasonal salad. Atmosphere is bare bones. Loud hipsters dining on very basic tabletops nearby. As native New Yorkers from the neighborhood, we tipped generously and won’t return.
The place itself is very nice and quaint. But the pizza is very average (very bland) the margherita at least. Very pricey for the pizza and the toppings and honestly being from brooklyn.. with tons of other options to choose from (wheated, table 87, l'industrie, sotto casa, robertas, paulie gees list goes on) its v avg and lacks a spark esp fr the high end prices they charge. Going to skip returning with large groups or family.
Poor delivery quality but more than that, I was just really disappointed with the GF crust - I thought it would be a fresh homemade crust but it’s clearly just one of those pre-packaged ones that taste like cardboard
Perhaps this experience is due to delivery. Regardless not impressed. The pizza itself did not look appetizing, the calzone was extremely bland. Absolutely 0 flavor! I will say that the dough itself was fresh and was a good dough but my goodness. Lastly, the Cesar salad I paid $15 for which looked like nothing more than a cheap salad bar salad. I should have taken more pictures. Im happy everyone else seemed to have had a better experience. I paid $65 for a margarita pizza (half pepperoni), calzone, and salad. Do yourself a favor and save the cash.
Sorry to say this. We got the Greenwood Veggie pizza. I really wanted to like it, but it wasn’t good considering it’s in Brooklyn and there are better and cheaper pizzas every ten blocks or so. This didn’t live up to my expectations. Good service though. Watching the chef making the pizza was nice.
Walked in with a friend. We looked around and smiled at everyone. We were never greeted. We were never sat, or told where to sit. after a few awkward mins asking around, we left. To be gentrified is one thing but rude?!? Very rude establishment actually
Came in looking for a quick bite after work. Heard good reviews from this place. Always get food around my work and out of all days decided to give this place a try. Came in looking for a few slices to take home to try. Waited a couple of minutes but no one helped me. Asked one of the staff if they sell slices and he didn’t even look at me , just said no. It was a damn shame because the pizzas were coming out and looked decent. I would have brought a pie to try at home but the staff were not friendly or welcoming at all. Looked like they judge on appearances. Have never came across a pizza place in park slope or sunset that made me feel like that way . What a terrible shame .
