The Gibson Brooklyn Reviews
i love a martini and even tho they're a dive bar they not only made it for me but asked how wet or dry i wanted it and if i wanted a lemon/lime twist or dirty. cozy little spot with the packers game on and FANTASTIC drinks i will be back. shoutout corey for being the best bartender ever!!
First time trying a Bloody Mary was here and oh, boy! It really put the standard up there for every other place with a bloody Mary! 🍹 The staff is super friendly, very helpful when asking for recommendations, even when it's busy they take care of you! I really, really love this place ✨
Classic neighborhood watering hole with the friendliest staff and inviting atmosphere. Plus they let you bring food in! We've had a couple socials here for our gym members and everyone always has the best time.
Great spot to hang out with friends for some casual drinks. The bartenders were super nice and fun, made great beer recommendations and even helped me decide what to get for dinner. The description mentions food but note that this place doesn’t serve any kind of food!! But they let you bring food in or order delivery to the bar. Will definitely be back!
Awesome bar and atmosphere! Bartenders were super sweet and accommodating, they had artsy movies playing and the mood was lively without being too much. Would definitely recommend going here if you’re looking to have a good time!
Stumbled in running from an insane down pour. Bad weather brought us here. Overall, it's a great place. Staff are friendly and attentive. Large selection of scotch and fairly priced drinks for the location. Feels like your typical bar. It's clean, has good patrons, and has a large space to sit. There is an outdoor setup where Ecuadorian food can be purchased. Decent and unusual bar food.
Didn't have food but a very good variety of whiskey. Bartender was professional, attentive, and put great care into making our drinks . Dive bar atmosphere but- be ready for the " Manhattan" pricing happening in Brooklyn these days. When I'm in the area I'd stop in again.
Great local whiskey bar. Lots of variety of spirits, large space with outdoor seating and a patio. Small bites menu that's a little limited. Bartenders are all nice, spirits are all appropriately priced
Part sports bar part whiskey bar. Good haunt for any whiskey lovers as they have numerous cocktails focused on them and boy they are sure strong. Did not expect a rowdy bar though, as there is a sports bar down the block; a lot of sport fans and a contrasting atmosphere of what to expect as a “whiskey bar”.
Love this bar and selection of whiskey is unparalleled in the area. The cc charge on top of tax though really leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Effectively paying 11.11% extra on every drink for those paying with credit cards beware. I shouldn’t be punished paying with a globally accepted payment method. It’s the cost of doing business for the establishment to use visa and attract those customers. I don’t like when businesses pass the buck on to the most important part of their business, the customer.
Good vibes and solid drinks but they charged me two times for the same round. Once initially and then another when I closed out. In this economy too. Asked the bartender and he said it was a "pre-authorization" thing but usually pre authorizations are done in a much smaller denomination than the price of two cocktails. I will definitely patronize a different bar next time I'm in the area.
The drinks weren’t great, and to add insult to injury the bartender spoke to my group and I in a condescending manner. Won’t be returning that’s for sure
Why is there a 2 year old inspection grade sticker on window ?...... Reply to owner / if your establishment was up to code with department of health then you should put latest inspection grade sticker on window ........ it's a violation that you have an old sticker on window ....... health department contacted ....expect an unexpected visit soon .
My parents were visiting from out of town. They prefer chill bars with beer over nice cocktail lounges. I checked google and found The Gibson. It was truly awful. We walked in and the place reeked of wet dog. We waited to see if we should be seated or have someone seat us. Not a single person acknowledged our presence- mind you, the place was not busy at all. There were maybe six other people inside. We looked to seat ourselves a dog started barking very very loudly. Then there was another dog that got all riled up because the first dog was barking- explains the overwhelming smell of wet dog. I don’t drink beer so I wasn’t sure were else to take my parents. My dad went to order a drink at the bar. He waited at the bar for over five minutes without a single employee acknowledging him. My parents are very nice pleasant people. I’m a nice pleasant person who works in the service industry. We never spoke to a single person who works there in the fifteen minutes we were there. We got dirty looks and eye rolling from the other patrons when they heard me say it smelled like wet dog and never got acknowledged by a single employee. I asked a friend where we should go that was a chill atmosphere with beer and they recommended Skinny Dennis. We went to SD and had a really great time. The employees were very nice, the vibe was fun, the band was great, the other patrons were (New York) friendly. The Gibson is tragic. It’s a bar for living breathing walking memes of people who live in Williamsburg circa 2011. And it smells.
