The Hop Shop Brooklyn Reviews
This is such a great bar with an amazing rotating selection of craft beers on draft and crazy number of cans too. But, it’s also a full bar with friendly bartenders who know how to make a great cocktail. Love the Negroni and old fashioned! Atmosphere is laid back with low lighting and the music isn’t too loud for a good adult conversation with the locals who range in age from mid 20s to 50s. The back garden is lovely, seating is plentiful and children are welcome until 6pm, according to the sign in the window. Service dogs are welcome and present. I highly recommend The Hop Shop for a relaxing good time without fear of hordes of rowdy patrons.
Great bar with a focus on a wide range of craft brews, both on draft and in can or bottle form. For example they often have brews from Upstate NY or New England breweries like Wayward Lane, West Kill Brewing, The Alchemist. They tend to have several IPAs, a sour or two, a cider, some pilseners, a stout or two, pale ales, Guinness, several other interesting beers and that's just the draft list. They also have a full bar including some top-shelf liquor and, in summer, interesting frozen drinks such as the John Daly (boozy frozen Arnold Palmer because reasons). Past the long sit-at bar itself there are plentiful large tables towards the back to sit larger groups and you can bring your own food (no food is sold currently, so no rating given for food). Finally there's a big private courtyard belonging to the bar with seats and tables and some shared BBQs you can use in warmer times. Photo from a couple of years ago.
Amazing drinks. Even more amazing staff. Bring your friends and parties of 13+
Good spot for drinks my friend didn’t finish his beer. I drank more than i wanted to. Lots of dogs here
Love this place, the back yard is everything. Excellent rotating draft list and extensive bottle and can list. My wife is a big fan of their rose wine choice. Be warned it is very family friendly so there is a good chance there will be kids will everywhere. That's about the only downside for me. For food I'd recommend the taquitos. Yummy.

A very cool hang. Good music, great staff. They are a dog friendly establishment with a lovely outdoor patio. Do yourself a favor and don't walk, RUN TO THE HOP SHOP!!!!!
Great place! Met friends here for my son’s birthday and had an incredible time! Thank you for helping make this a memorable birthday for him. We’ll be back!
Great bar! Excellent beer choices and the staff is fun and welcoming. Highly recommended.
My favorite neighborhood bar, always make a point to stop by whenever I’m in town. Great staff that make you feel like family and great selection of beers.
It’s a great place to hang out if you wanna hang out with your friends and family and they’re also dog friendly it’s an amazing bar that I recommend you go to
What a great atmosphere! So many places are boring and overpriced. The Hop Shop is neither of those things. Loved it!
Fantastic bar with incredibly chill, laid back owners and bartenders who make everyone feel welcome. The beer selection is excellent, the crowd is always fun, and it’s one of those places where you can actually make new friends. It almost feels like a modern day Cheers!
There are so many things I love about this bar. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, the owners are knowledgeable and amazing to everyone who walks through that door. And my favorite of all is the community, it's a neighborhood bar that is welcoming to everyone and you know if you're stopping by to celebrate or if you had a bad day, there will be someone there with an open ear and perhaps a hug if needed.
This bar is the Cheers of Brooklyn. And great beers and sunset views.
Great beer selection. Good tunes. I’m in.
I fell in love with The Hop Shop three years ago! What brings me back is the very spacious and cozy patio they have in the back, the staff and owners love for dogs, ice cold variety of beer, the drink specials, and the perfect aperol spritz. The owners and bartenders are hard working but know how to keep a stimulating conversation and warm welcoming environment for their patrons. Every time I’m in the area I make sure to stop in for a few and watch a game or, if I’m lucky, I’ll get to catch some karaoke.
This a really great bar, especially for solo women who want to drink and feel safe. I love to have a glass of wine and read a book at a bar and I often have to contend with some drunk guy harassing me. I’ve never felt that way here! And there are usually solo woman doing the same thing. If you want to meet people, you can as everyone is super friendly, but you can also enjoy a quiet and safe night alone. Beer selection is great and the bartenders make great cocktails too.

Nice quiet bar with a backyard and a good selection of drafts, cans and bottles. There's some light snacks as well, and in theory free wifi, though I didn't inquire.

Absolutely unprofessional. Some blonde lady was directly cursing out and insulting my friends and I using very vulgar wording about “not enough tips” when my friends did tip. But they wanted tip about double the drink price. Most unacceptable behavior ever. I worked as server and bartender nothing like that outrageous behavior is ever acceptable no matter what and it’s not a good look for the business
wow. just wow at the service experience here. bartender proceeds to tell us she “does not even work there” but made us drinks anyway. she had no information on the drinks there, so my boyfriend and i did not tip her for our second drink. we did tip our first drink, but apparently it wasn’t enough. we’re in a group of 13 people, the only people there at the moment besides a reserved loud party, and some patron comes over screaming that we’re terrible people for not tipping. “owner adjacent” random guy comes over, with 3 receipts, telling us we did not tip enough. without even having a chance to explain that the bartender told us she didn’t actually work there, the patron (drunken lady) shames us and calls us losers. we’re a group of 21 year olds bar hopping for our friends birthday. they’re 40+ kicking us out of their bar. hope they had a great night shaming the youth. would not go back here if they paid me. crazy people who own this bar who clearly don’t want business, just people who “know the owner”. yeah good luck drawing in a younger crowd. random dogs running unleashed and smoking inside the bar. yeah what a great way to ring in the new year.
