At Bistro Moulin, we're a beloved Cannery institution serving up hearty French bistro fare and wine in an intimate setting that transports you to Europe. As locals have come to know us, our unassuming space has become a haven for those seeking authentic flavors. Our guests rave about the rich aromas of slow-cooked dishes like Coq au Vin, expertly paired with glasses of full-bodied reds. In the evenings, our warm atmosphere is set by European art adorning the walls, creating a cozy ambiance that's perfect for dates or gatherings with friends. We're grateful to have become a part of this community, serving up delicious meals and making memories along Wave Street.

My girlfriend and I visited this place last week and I’m writing in from FL! Dining at this place was truly an experience. Not only was the entire staff extremely welcoming and knowledgeable of the menu, but the food was remarkable! Every ingredient seemed to be hand selected to craft the perfect symphony of flavors. The scallops appetizer was amazing - hands down the best either of us have ever had! I had the chefs special with grouper (catch of the day) and my girlfriend had the filet! 5 stars isn’t enough! We will be back!

An unassuming European bistro with beautifully-done dishes that will leave your senses delighted and your belly happy! Every dish that we had was delicious — escargot, FOS, lasagna (special,) gnocchi, profiteroles (special,) and Pistachio cake — and we couldn’t stop raving about the lovely, airy texture of the handmade Italian gnocchi and the deep richness of each of the dishes that we tried. A favorite now in the area, that every local should try! The owners, Frederico and Sabrina were such gracious and beautiful hosts, and they made us, and every guest in the restaurant, feel as if we were treasured family coming together for a meal. A must-eat-at establishment!

We visited on a Sunday evening and Chef Federico greeted us with a smile and waited on us the entire meal. We had four delightful courses and chef paired amazing wines with each course!! Thank you for the fantastic dining experience!!

I wish I could have rated the food higher! More on that later. On arrival we were warmly greeted and offered a couple of different seating options. Choosing to sit by the window looking out over the street and passing parade. We decided on champagne to start with and being a little warmer than my preference we tried a glass light French rose whilst the champers chilled. We ordered scallops and the salmon ceviche for starters. Both excellent and quite large serves. For mains we had the fish and steak. I’m a huge carnivore and the steak was as good of a it better than I’ve had anywhere in the world! Yes I know this is a big statement but it’s true! Of course we had a glass of Pinot noir and a white to accompany both dishes. Staff attentiveness was great without being OTT. We dined here about 5 years ago. It was good then but is awesome now!

Wow, what an amazing experience at this little gem of a restaurant. We started with the scallop appetizer which was to die for, and moved onto the peach and arugula salad, which was equally delicious. Then for our main, we chose the seafood risotto, which had some of the best flavors we’ve had in a while, even the desserts were delectable. This is a family run establishment that is producing some of the best food we’ve ever had, and thats saying something because we are huge foodies. If you’re in the Monterey area stop by and support this wonderful little restaurant.

Went to have our 10th year wedding anniversary dinner. Our waiter was super nice and knowledgeable. She suggested us a very good wine (probably one of the best wines we've had) to go with our dishes. We were seated right away when we got there, it was around 5:30pm. We were asked if we wanted still or frizz, we chose frizz (san pellegrino) -- NOT FREE! We then ordered our delicious appetizer (smoke salmon carpaccio with capers). Make sure you use the lemon zest it was bomb! The bread they served was fresh and delicious! I got pasta with truffles, and my husband ordered the cannelloni tartufi (it's a filled pasta with beef tenderloin, ricotta, truffle, and pink vodka sauce) so.good. ! We finished it up with a delicious chocolate sorbet dessert. French food never disappoints. The ambiance is great! We never ran out of wine in our glass. Our waitress was very attentive, i wish i got her name. She deserves a raise! Overall, we had a great time. A must try! P.S. i had a great time doing my own fancy food plate art. 😉 the last 4 photos are the real plate. 🙂🙃

All of the food was amazing. I highly recommend the pork cheek. It’s more tender than regular pork. I would go early, or make reservations long because they are often fully booked up around dinner time. The one time I successfully walked in, it was at 4 pm.

A wonderful little French restaurant! Cute atmosphere and an intimate feel for dinner. Everything from the complimentary crostini with the carrot tapenade to the berries and profiteroles we all so good. Their cheese charcuterie board was wonderful with the best brie and Roquefort cheese! My husband enjoyed the baked beef tenderloin cannelloni. We would definitely come back and enjoy another meal!

So glad we came here instead of all the other touristy restaurants that were rated best on tripadvisor. This restaurant is so cute, warm, cozy, and romantic. And the food and wine and service were amazing! We got a reservation at 8:30pm and easily found a spot to park on the street and it was free parking at that time as well. We didn't have to wait long at all before getting seated. We got some pate to start with and it was very good. I'm glad I listened to other reviews and ordered the spinach gnocchi. It was so creamy and delicious and the entree portion was huge! I definitely could not have finished by myself. My husband ordered the special which was a sea bass dish and the waitress was also nice to recommend a very nice wine to go with it. We were both very happy with our choices. The service was very good here, we were pretty much the last people in there but they did not rush us. And was excited to show us their unique cream brûlée, which we ended up ordering and it was pretty good. Very rich in flavor. Overall, an excellent experience. I highly recommend this place if you're in Monterey.

We celebrated our 25th anniversary there last week. The night was pouring down rain, however once inside, it was a perfect night. Food was to die for, service was excellent, and in fact it felt personal, and the atmosphere was friendly and subdued. Highly recommend.

From start to finish. Welcome to departure and everything in between what a meal. Perfection in plate presentation, temperature and oh my Lord the flavors. This is Monterey County’s very best restaurant. Service is also excellent since ownership duo lead that effort too. Place was full of very happy customers but is always is. Our #1 choice. Happy New Year!!!! Cheers 🥂

An absolute gem! Wow, Bistro Moulin was amazing! Chef Frederico recommended the French-style gnocchi and I'm so glad he did - it was incredible, easily one of the best dishes I've had in a long time. The menu has a great mix of locally sourced and specialty items, plus they had a ton of daily specials which made it hard to choose (but in a good way!). There's really something for everyone, and the wine list is thoughtfully put together. Service was top-notch - friendly and attentive without hovering. And bonus: parking on Thursday night was easy and free, which is always a win. You can tell Chef Frederico has put so much care into this place. His passion comes through in the food and the whole experience. We're already planning our next visit to try more of the menu.

My wife and I had a superb dining experience there last night. The food (she had the duck & I the Tortellini along with mussels appetizer plus deserts) was outstanding as was the service. The owner really knows his stuff and made recommendations that were spot-on. If you are in Monterey you’d be very happy if you eat there!

I read a lot of reviews, was a huge fan of the escargot!! & The gnocchi was phenomenal!!!!!!! Loved these dishes... Highly recommend these appetizer. Would not get the wild boar ragu again. Service was amazing!!! Family owned and well taken care of. Dessert special was mediocre had the ice cream puff balls and was not something I would get again.

Adorable and romantic spot with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The entrees were quite good—especially the eggplant agnolotti and the short ribs, both perfectly prepared and full of flavor. A highlight was the special peach and arugula salad, which was fresh and beautifully balanced. For dessert, the profiteroles were outstanding—light, airy, and indulgent.Recommended for a memorable dining experience!

I took my Girlfriend here on our anniversary and it was very expensive. The first few dishes were cold and did not taste very good, the entrees however more than made up for it. They sat me next to a big bouquet of flowers and my allergies started acting up and they made a fuss when I asked to be seated at a different table. All in all, will not go again but was an interesting experience.

The rudeness of the white female host and the man who appeared to be Italian was beyond imagination. Ironically, neither of them even seemed to be originally American, yet they were openly discriminatory toward visitors from another country, which was almost laughable. Do not go here under any circumstances. If this kind of behavior continues, it feels like they will eventually face serious consequences.

We have been coming here for almost 20 years (at least twice a year except the last 2 years). Went here tonight and was shocked at the service and the quality of the food. Did not know there were new owners. Unfortunately cannot recommend one of our former favorite restaurants anymore. Shot out to Geraldo who made our experience the best it could be. You're a rock star and too bad the owners don't behave like you! So disappointed and won't be returning. Also found it quite odd there was a small dog in the restaurant barking at customers where the owners were justifying the dog's actions??? They clearly don't care 😢I ordered the mussels, which we're not great. My husband's duck confit was braised duck at best. So grateful I did not order my former favorite dish because I'm sure I would be saying a lot more.

We visited this restaurant at a time when there were many empty tables. There were two of us, both women. An Italian male staff member and a white female host were extremely unfriendly. We walked in and stood there, but they ignored us completely and focused only on other guests, without even acknowledging us or making eye contact. We waited for over 10 minutes. Even after politely saying “Excuse me” several times, we received no response. They appeared visibly irritated only toward us. When we finally mentioned that we had been waiting for a long time, they became hostile, pointed their fingers at us, and shouted, “What’s the big deal about 10 minutes?” It felt very clear that we were treated this way because we were the only Asians there. The behavior was outright racist. In 2025, in the United States, this kind of conduct is honestly embarrassing and childish.
