Cathryn's Cold Spring Reviews
WOW. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since. We had the alla Buttera with gf penne and Lamb Ragu with gf gnocchi. They were able to make both gluten free easily, and I was beyond impressed with both. Cathryn’s has a vast wine selection, and there were many options to pair well with the meal. The waiter was so friendly, and the atmosphere is beautiful at night. There’s a reason this place is packed- it was a really lovely and memorable experience, cannot recommend highly enough.
Came here for dinner and they do take walk ins. We were seated right away. The food is good. We had the specials of the day, cod and rack of lambs. The cod comes with mushrooms and grape tomatoes. The lamb is juicy. Both the cod and lamb comes with green veggies, carrots, and mash potatoes. We also got the half a dozen of raw oysters. It taste better with the cocktail sauce. This place does take card payment. We also had the tiramisu and the lemon targuto. The place was celebrating their 25th anniversary.
Been coming here for most celebrations in my life and it's always a pleasure. The food is outstanding and a nice alternative compared to common italian restaurants. You wont find chicken parm here and it's a good thing. Step out of that comfort zone and try some new dishes and flavors! Staff is always so friendly and conversational. Looking forward to more anniversaries, birthdays, valentines and more at Cathryns
Cathryn always produces a wonderful meal when I visit, as we did last night for our son's birthday. Cold winter evening made warm by delicious dishes.
Kathryn’s is perfect for a cozy little date or casual lunch ! If you can get a table by the front windows you get a great view of downtown cold spring and the surrounding mountains. Food is delicious and classic Tuscan fare
Went as a walk in. Had Melissa as a server. She was wonderful! It was a very busy night but we got our food and drinks fairly quickly. The whole time Melissa was attentive and so friendly. Will definitely eat there again to sit in her section
The food was very tasty, the servers were attentive and extremely nice/polite. Great atmosphere as well… I do wish the portions were bigger, however, I am still giving 5 stars because I enjoyed it so much.
A wonderful dinner with great service! Both my partner and I were very impressed. I had their seasonal ravioli (squash and ricotta (?) ravioli in a sage and brown butter sauce) and it was delicious. Would recommend that, the tricolore salad and the squid ink pasta (my partner’s choice). The service was great, the servers were incredibly kind and gracious with us. Also, some of you on here don’t deserve nice things. Horrible reviews for not being able to bring your dog in, talking terribly about people regularly working double shifts... Dining in a restaurant is not a given right, it is a privilege.
This restaurant was amazing! We walked in without a reservation on Saturday night and sat at the outside patio with our dog. They brought over water and treats for her immediately. Our waitress was super sweet. She was also making our cocktails and tailored them to how we liked. They have many specials as well so you’ll definitely find something good to eat. At the end of our meal, the manager Dan came over to chat with us and made sure we had a great meal. We told them it was our anniversary and they brought out dessert with a candle in it! Overall, awesome experience at Cathryn’s and highly recommend to anyone visiting cold spring!
Amazing place with the most wonderful food and atmosphere. The service was outstanding, everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. One of those rare spots where both the food and the people make you want to come back again and again. Thank you so much!
I recently had dinner and also brunch at this old restaurant on Main Street. The stag is like a warm family of engaging people. My server was very knowledgeable about the town and attractions. The food was exquisite and they accommodated a few changes without issue. Have discovered a new favorite!
Had a delightful lunch here. Great food, atmosphere and service. We had a delicious salad with hearts of palm and avocado. The soup of the day was lentil. It was a perfect soup for a damp day. The main was a roast pepper ravioli and a spaghetti with wild boar sausage. Cappuccino for dessert was nutty and with perfect foam. Service was warm and the place is easy on the Eyes.
Service was excellent. Staff were all helpful and courteous. Everything we ordered was wonderful. We ordered the squid ink pasta , venison, mussels, and oysters. Of all these, the venison really stood out. It wasn’t gamey and the reduction was a perfect companion. Would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a place to eat.
I've been going here every year after hiking up Bull Hill and have never been disappointed. Service is extremely friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food is great, plating/presentation could be improved but it doesn't stop you from chowing down!
The service was truly amazing — everyone was so friendly and attentive. You can tell the staff really cares, even though they seemed a bit overwhelmed with the full foliage rush. That said, I think the food could be improved. The dishes sound more sophisticated than they actually are, and the prices don’t quite match the quality. My pasta (fusilli with mushrooms) was pretty basic, though the burger meat was very good. The outdoor area feels pretty standard, while the inside has an upscale vibe but confusing décor — the paintings don’t really fit the theme. The wine prices are also on the higher side, even compared to Manhattan. Overall, wonderful service and kind staff, but the menu and ambiance could use some adjustments to match what the place seems to aim for.
A charming Italian restaurant offering fresh, authentic Tuscan cuisine in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The pastas are delicious and made with quality ingredients, and the outdoor garden seating adds to the experience. Friendly service and creative dishes make this a wonderful spot for lunch or dinner in town.
tried the fall special pumpkin ravioli with sage butter (which is usually a fav dish of mine that I have every fall) - it was terrible, undercooked, and tasted more like a dessert item or cinnamon toast cereal. also tried the basil linguine which was very mediocre. for the prices they charge and the quality of food, definitely do not recommend.
Arrived at 1:15 on time for pre reservations, were seated 15 minutes later. Ordered drinks but the drinks arrived after 45 minutes. We totally understand sometimes things get busy but the food came after additional 45 minutes. Pasta was uncooked and cold. Best part of the meal was bread with olive oil.
Saturday evening, busy, reservation at 7 pm but we were seated after waiting15 min. Server took another 10 min to come. Bread hard and cold, over toasted, I was afraid for my teeth. We ordered Linguini Nero al' limone with shrimp. Those were the most unfresh and dry shrimp I ever ate. After eating the same dish in Aruba, that was superb, this one was a big disappointment. That was my experience at this restaurant.
Avoid this place if you can. Came here after a hike. The old male host with glasses was incredibly rude while checking in and throughout our time at the restaurant. Our party sat down and ate in less than 30 minutes yet the host came to chase us out of the restaurant immediately after we signed the check. Pasta was undercooked and overall poor quality, especially given the price.
The host was downright discriminatory, don't waste your time with this place. The food and service once we were seated were both fine, but not worth what they charged and certainly not worth fighting with the host. When we walked in originally, we were told by the host, holding back a sneer, that they couldn't seat us without a reservation despite all the empty tables. We walked out at this point but we were hungry and saw that they took online reservations, so made a reservation, got the confirmation emails, then killed about 20 minutes on main street until our reservation time. When we walked back in, the host tried to tell us that online reservations actually don't count...even though it had been confirmed? We just stood there until he took us to a table. We should've taken the hint because the experience could be had at any Olive Garden for a much more reasonable price, complete with kids running up and down the aisle. The kicker for us, and the reason I decided to ultimately post this review, is because a retired couple walked in, confirmed to the host that they had no reservation, and they were still seated immediately, so the "ironclad" reservation requirement is only enforced for some people. There are so many nice restaurants in Cold Spring, don't waste your time or money with this one.
Went there for dinner tonight with reservation in from RESY. Unfortunately we didn't stay as we waited close to an hour to for our order which, came out as I walked up to the wait staff to close me out. I ended up sending my dish back and packing my wife's dish. The staff did remove a glass of wine and pasta from the bill which I appreciate, but would have appreciated more if they just informed us of being that slammed. I would have gone elsewhere and not wasted an hour there. For Management: Please do not take reservations if the establishment is not adequately staffed.
10/20/2024 It's interesting that the most recent review had the same exact experience as I did. Two tables that were seated after us got bread baskets and their water before we did. In fact, we didn't get the TAP water and coke that we ordered until AFTER we got our food. It was obvious that the people in the town were racist and the food was as tasteless as they were. If you're a person of color, don't bother coming here or stepping foot in this town. You'll be happier and so will the people who live and work here. Here is my experience here broken down by time: 12:34 PM - Seated 12:38 PM - Drinks order was taken (tap water and coke) 12:43 PM - Food order was taken (2 dishes, 1 soup) 12:48 PM - Bread came out with olive oil, bread was cold (not room temperature - COLD.) Also, I noticed that we received 3 pcs of bread as a table of 3. Looked over at the table next to us and they received 5 pieces (table of 2)... 1:09 PM (35 minutes after being seated) - Food was served (Pizza Margherita, Soup of the day, Fusilli Integrali as Funghi Selvatica) 1:16 PM (42 minutes after being seated) - Tap water came out. 1:18 PM - My coke came out 1:31 PM - Received the check I don't know why I tipped 20% to be honest. Both the service and the food were extremely disappointing. The pasta was the worst pasta I ever had. It was cooked al dente which is fine, but had no flavor whatsoever. The pizza margherita tasted like someone watched a youtube video on how to make pizza a year ago and then tried making it from memory. Also, who makes pizza margherita without basil? That's just weird. The field greens were good though. The only reason I'm giving the food 2 stars instead of 1 is because my mom enjoyed her soup. Oh yeah, and they charged $9 for the soup instead of $8 like it says on the menu. Posted the menu and receipt to this review. And just as a disclaimer, I couldn't care less if a small restaurant takes a long time to bring out food when they're as busy as they were yesterday. My main issue other than the food being bad was how our table was treated compared to others.
