Shiku Coronado Reviews
Prompt and friendly service. The seaweed salad was bright and tasty, very refreshing start to my meal. The sushi was fresh and nicely displayed. Great saki, too.
I loved the setting. This is the second time I've come to eat. always well received, with a smile. good location, nice view. Recommended for French people visiting San Diego. Congratulations.
I saw this place on instagram and wanted to give it a try, I go to UCSD so i’m already in the area. I’ve tried many sushi spots around San Diego and this was by far the best one I’ve been to. The meat was so fresh and did not have that fishy aftertaste. I had the salmon nigiri and the negi toro rolls. I would’ve ordered a lot more but didn’t want to spend too much money. They make the food right in front of you so you can see them making it all from scratch. The waiter was very attentive and came by my table many times. It was not too crowded and very peaceful. Would definitely come again!
My husband and I are staying in San Diego for a conference and decided to visit La Jolla. We came across Shiku because of their amazing reviews. I am SO glad we did. The service is quick and the sushi is fresh and frankly out of this world. We highly recommend this place! Our favorites are el cartel and the prospect!
Absolutely amazing. Great service!! I can’t remember the waitress’s name but she’s young and brunette she did great! The food was so fricking good too. Happy hour prices at $5 can’t be that 😏
I'm not a big fan of sushi but my wife is I brought her here to maintain the harmony and peace within our marriage. The place is comfortable and casual. I thoroughly enjoyed the Indiana Jones roles (but I don't recall the exact name of the dish). I really liked their California rolls too (I didn't take a picture of them). If I were with my sons, or with my buddies, I would have eaten a lot more!
We had a great experience here! We started with the gyoza and it had good flavor with a little bit of spice, I think from the sauce. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi and I was happy to see a generous amount served! It had great flavor and the meat wasn’t fatty which is a plus for me! It was definitely a pricey meal but I’m glad we were able to visit!
This was my second trip to Shiku Sushi and it was even better than my first. This trip, the owner and staff selected my menu each night and I was never disappointed. The servers, Jacky, David, Ashley, and Hana, all exceptional and the food AMAZING! I I so love the specialty rolls, Casanova, Summer Beach Body, and Indy-ana where my favs!
Very unique no rice rolls, I ordered summer beach body rolls and shiku . it's very delicious and light for stomach . I eat only summer beach and other I took it with me . One roll was enough but I like trying different usually. I have great service with friendly spirits. Jacky was lovely and very friendly.
First off ignore the fishy smell when you walk in. I have passed over this place three times because of that (my) rule. I'm glad I did because this place is awesome. Small sushi joint with a handful of tables inside and out, and a sushi bar. Extensive menu with really good fancy rolls, and a sashimi special with thick cuts of very quality sushi. The garlic edamame had a citrus ponzu flavor that was unreal. Ordered the crispy rice and that was the stuff of my dreams. I could eat that every day and not get tired! I got the Prospect roll and the spicy yellowtail roll. My son got the Dragon and my daughter the lunch sushi combo. All were very very good fresh fish and perfect rice rolls and the sashimi was huge! Definitely two biters. Reasonably priced, good service, will go back!
Really great spot! My friends and I unknowingly came in for happy hour on a Monday and was greeted with $5 wine, appetizers, and hand rolls. I took advantage of it and ordered the house white and a shrimp tempura hand roll while sharing the cartel roll. The food was really tasty and our server was awesome! I’d definitely come back again.
This is a hidden gem in La Jolla. This is a nice cozy little family restaurant not far from the coast. The staff here is amazing. They are on their game. The food is fresh and very flavorful. We tried several of the sushi roll, nigiri, sashimi, short ribs and the bulgogi. The meat dishes had some much flavor. When we are in La Jolla this is going to be our place to eat.
Reservations recommended because they reserve a table by the window. Not a great view but better than in the back. Food was good but recommend calling ahead if you intend to order a non sushi dish to ensure they aren't out of it (my experience).
I recently visited Shiku in La Jolla for dinner and had a delightful experience. We had a mix selection of sushi, which was fresh and flavorful, and the Korean bulgogi, which was surprisingly enjoyable by out younger crew. The food quality was pretty good, with reasonable prices. We had made a reservation for Father's Day, and although we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our table, it wasn't too bad considering it was a special day. The restaurant is not too big, creating an intimate atmosphere with friendly staff. Parking might require a bit of driving around, but it wasn't too much of a hassle. Overall, Shiku provided a great dining experience with delicious food and a welcoming environment.
