YGF Cupertino Reviews
YGF cupertino is my favorite restaurant. I go here at least once a week and it honestly has the best service. All the servers are kind and helpful and go above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Kevin is my GOAT. he’s the best ever and he never lets us down. The food OMG best malatang i’ve ever had it’s so flavorful and the food comes fast! Overall it’s a really good place to eat I highly highly recommend!
super great options, really fresh! i’ve tried the sweet & sour tomato and the beef bone and both are great. pretty cheap for portions
Ok this is like hella good I mean just share a bowl and it's 20 bucks for like 2 ppl and the meat is pretty great There's always a line and the insides are crammed full of people so you know it's good. Much better than that sad pizza place next door...
Good food but has a pretty long wait line, they have lots of ppl just hanging around after finishing eating which extends the wait time
Love this place! Super tasty malatang with tons of fresh ingredients. The spicy broth is amazing, and you can build your bowl just how you like it. Fast, clean, and super satisfying. Will definitely come back!
We love the food here but the space and seating is a bit cramp. Normal wait time is around 40 minutes on a weekend for dinner for us. You get to choose the food/ the broth and they heat it up for you. We've come here many times and really enjoy the food here.
I really enjoy coming here to celebrate after school finals or during the winter!! The service is really fast and it’s such a cozy and casual place to be with friends after a tiring day! It’s also really really cheap and easy to make you full, so I love this place 😋😋. The Malatang here is also the BEST I’ve ever had, the options are all so fresh and delicious, and tasted like home. Our server, Kevin, is literally amazing too 💕💕💕!
Very delicious soup base and very fresh ingredients. Service was great and staff were super friendly. Definitely recommend for some real malatang!!!
The soup base is very good and the ingredients are very fresh. Service was good and staff were super friendly. Great environment and good food.
FOOD magical ygf malatang. whoever makes the beef brone both needs three thousand more dollars. i personally love the potato noodles but i recommend getting a lot of meat (if you really like meat) since they charge by the pound. theres also a variety of drink options. SERVICE wait is generally pretty long 20-40 mins. after sending the bowl to the kitchen its then about a 5-10 mins wait for your bowl to come back. i was also offered a free drink since i made an offhand comment about driving a long time (40+mins) just to eat here. the workers speak chinese and english ATMOSPHERE really lively and busy atmosphere. table next to me was hilarious. parking is pretty hard to find. tables for small parties (1-2 people) are lowkey kinda small.
Malatang noodle hotpot by weight with a pick-your-own-broth option is a fantastic dining experience for customization lovers. You select your ingredients—from fresh vegetables to proteins and noodles—pay by weight, and pair them with a broth of your choice. The broths are rich and flavorful, whether you prefer mild, spicy, or numbing Sichuan-style. It’s perfect for those who enjoy tailoring their meals to their tastes. Fresh ingredients, quick cooking, and a casual vibe make it a must-try for hotpot enthusiasts!
The food was fresh and flavorful, and the service was friendly and attentive. Everything tasted great and was served quickly. A really enjoyable dining experience—I’d be happy to come back again.
I was here for the first time as my friend mentioned this authentic place. Since it was Friday we decided to come early at 11 am and to our surprise there was already a big line up at this place. You pick up a bowl and choose what you want and how much you want. There's a good mix of fresh vegetables, fish in the form of fish balls, meat, seafood, tofu and many more leafy vegetables, noodles of all kinds. Once you select it they will weigh it and will give you a table number to be seated. Based on the base sauce selections out of three kinds - sweet tomato base sauce, mild spicy which is with beef bone broth and the last with spicy yet with peanut sauce. Your food that you selected is taken inside their kitchen to cook and based on that your food is priced. I found this very reasonable from the point that you don't have to waste food. Usually when the soup bowl comes out it's huge enough to be fed to three people and one person can't finish that all. So this is good that you can pick and choose. I chose the mild spicy one it came as a soup bowl. The aroma of the spices were so tempting that I started tasting it. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. They will place the bill but will tell you not to worry or hurry, just enjoy your food. I really loved the ambience It is really good with lots of sunlight, numbered table seating inside, and giving more details about the type of their food. It seems they have more than 6K franchises opened around the globe. This restaurant just opened recently as they call it soft opening. I will definitely go back here to try out other flavors and food items. It's always advisable to come early as later at noon the line was outside the restaurant. I find this place very neat and clean. I will highly recommend it.
This place is poppin’; it’s almost always full but miraculously by the time people finish scooping up their ingredients and check out, there always appears an open table. The workers really do a good job on this. I do try conscientiously not to take too long or chat after I finish eating. The self-serve bar has a lot of options, offal, bullfrog legs, innards, vegetables that are rare at hot pot places. I think I tried too many exotic things and it made my stomach queasy. It has more variety than the Milpitas the location. The soups are different too. The workers are super duper nice and hard-working. They refill your waters. I highly recommend this place. Please support them!
We've been here a few times already. We had to figure things out first. It's just load a bunch of stuff in a bowl and pay by the pound. They seem to rotate some ingredients like vegetables and little fancy fishball thingies. They cook it all in the broth of your choice, and the broths are amazingly tasty. I prefer the medium spicy beef broth. IF you have discipline, it's a great meal for under $15. I always end up adding way too much good stuff. Also, the people who work there are super-nice. I will be back.
First, choose any food you like into a plastic bowl , and have it weighted, then choose the base. The price is dependent on the weight and the base. There are 4 types of base, 3 soup broth (tomato, beef bone mild spicy and medium spicy) and one dry sauce. There are plenty choices for the food. There is no slices of chicken though. The tastes of beef bone broth and the tomato are great! There is a side bar for dipping sauce with garlic, green onion , cilantro, chili, and sesame sauce. The waiters are very helpful. They will set up the seats for you while you select the food. They will put water, napkins, and chopsticks on your table. After the food of your choice is cooked, the waiter will bring it to your table. It’s pretty fast, as well as tasty!!!
I love malatang 😆. The ingredients at this location are pretty fresh, and the price is on par with the rest of the Bay Area at about $15 a pound. I tried the soup and the stir fry option; both are delicious. The stir fry option is a lot heavier and very oily, so it might be hard to eat more than 1lb of it. There is also a 1lb minimum.
I really love the beef bone broth. I get to pick what I like for my soup. Friendly staff. They tend to get busy especially during weekends.
Very good service and delicious soups. The staffs there are very friendly and the price is fair. I would recommend this restaurant and will come back often.Suitable for lunch and dinner.
Lots of choices for toppings and meat. Pricing was not too bad per person and it was a bit busy when we came in around 5 PM. Would come back again!
I've been a regular at Yang Guofu Spicy Hot Pot, and one of the things I absolutely love is that I hardly ever have to wait in line. It's so convenient! Their Mellow spicy mixing is fantastic, and what's great is that it's not overwhelmingly spicy. This is the go-to place for anyone looking for a flavorful and enjoyable dining experience without the long waits or overly spicy dishes. Highly recommended!

Friendly staff and fast service. Same tasty Malatang as I remember back in China. A must try. They also offer it without spicy in case you bring a kid.
We ordered fish maw & chicken soup & beef bone broth. Both broth Would definitely come back if I miss something soupy

Love malting noodles! The meat here is especially soft and tasty. Started coming here after my old favorite hole-in-the-wall type dry pot noodle spot closed and this ended up being an upgrade. My kids love it too

Great noodle option outside of ramen, udon, or pho. Instructions could be clearer, but basically you enter the store and immediately grab a bowl and fill it with whatever frozen ingredients you want. Then you get the bowl weighed and your cooked bowl will be brought out to you. The ingredient options was a little on the small side, but it is a small restaurant. There's also a little sauce station.
Really enjoyed my visit to this Malatang restaurant. The food was flavorful and satisfying, with plenty of fresh ingredients to choose from. The staff were kind and attentive, and the store was clean and well-organized. I gave only 4 stars because of the location. Parking might be a bit difficult.
Came here for lunch on a Sunday with a friend and we got here early because we weren't sure how long the wait would be. Arrived at 11:45am because the place doesn't open until 11:30 am on Sunday and it was very easy for us to find parking. I've been to the Milpitas location and wanted to give this one a try since it's the same restaurant and I like it since it's a build your own noodle bowl and you even get to choose the broth base. I went with the tom yum soup base and it was delicious. I will also say that this location didn't seem to have a bottle of mala spice which I was a bit disappointed in. The seating arrangement of the store has the tables really close to each other in the restaurant.
Honestly, not my favorite, but it’s not bad. I like the concept. Also, you can pick and choose what you want to put in your soup. I wish there was an option to try the broth before choosing. I personally, didn’t like the broth I chose, but I didn’t complain either. I like the sauce bar with the option to get extra cilantro! I love cilantro! Not sure if I’ll be going back, because it’s not my style, but my friend loved it!
My friends and I went around 7pm on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was very full. We ended up waiting around 15 minutes for a table to clear that could seat us. YGF is a hot pot that charges you by the weight of the ingredients. There was a wide selection of ingredients, but some of them were mislabeled. After choosing your ingredients, they weigh the bowl and ask what kind of broth you want. When we went they did not have the Tomato broth which is their only non spicy/malatang broth. It took them less than 10 minutes to deliver our cooked food. The sauce station was quite messy and almost empty when we were grabbing our sauces. The restaurant was almost completely full the entire time we were there.
stopped here on two separate trips and during both visits, I really enjoyed the milkiness of the spicy beef broth along with the flexibility to choose how much to eat. there's a good variety of veggies, meat, and seafood. however, i did have a friend bring up a really valid concern with cross-contamination as a vegetarian and how each item was placed and everyone just going back and forth between each fridge of veggies, meat, and seafood. definitely would be interested to see if there's any way YGF can improve this process as their concept is so fun to be able to DIY your own hot pot! i also recommend for yall to check out this spot as it allows each person from the party to get the amount of food that they feel is suitable for them. their ambiance is super casual and can be a bit intimate as each table to closely lined. their staff are very chill and laid back - in a sense it feels like a cafeteria-style because you pick up the food, drop off your food, and it's brought back cooked along with a sauce bar in the back for easy access. tip: - lots of parking available but this plaza does get busy so there might be some wait time with parking - lots of great desserts/boba options available nearby - perfect for small groups (friends, family, and dates)

Check your food before you eat! I come here occasionally because I like the food and spicy bone soup base. Today, I ordered as usual -- vegetables and a few slices of meat. To my surprise, there was absolutely no meat in my bowl when it was served. I asked about it, and the waiter said the chef must have forgotten to put my meat in the bowl because they cook the vegetables and meat separately. They offered me a free drink, which I declined. They also offered to re-pick the meat slices for me, saying they'd give me extra. I just took roughly the same amount as I took before. The waiter was courteous and apologetic -- it wasn't their fault. But I was surprised that something like this would happen. Did someone in the kitchen eat the meat but didn't say? Did someone receive extra portion of meat? I'd like to believe that it was an honest mistake, not some sneaky business tactics. Definitely check that everything you picked ended up being served in your bowl!
Total Score: 5.33 Bathroom: N/A Didn’t use the bathroom Customer Service: 4.5/5 Very nice, led us to our seats without much bureaucracy. Also refilled waters which was helpful cuz it was spicy. Ambiance: 3.5/5 ‘Twas alright, bright and clean for malatang. Food: 2.5/5 The selection was not that great and everything was mislabeled. Also the soup was more salty than spicy Wow: 0/1 Normal malatang restaurant Total Score = (CS + 2*AM + 5*FOOD + WOW)/0.9
Came here for lunch . You have to pick up your bowl first and cashier will tell you where you can set . Honestly, I doesn’t like this , even just one person , but I pay $25 , set on small table is reasonable, because not even full house yet . All the table is small and very near each other . Food is ok , just like bowl of noodle soup
Tiny tables and space, food was just okay for charging $15-16/lb for food, stars for nice staff and cleanliness. Not worth eating for $50 for 2 pax, should have gone elsewhere cos the ingredients are sub par, 3 sections of food; but two categories of processed foods like pre packaged hotdogs, fishballs, canned quail eggs, frozen foods, etc. Only last section has fresh veggies and meats…

Update: OVERBEARING male staff with glasses, no need to policing customers. Do you like to be told how to behave and what to do? Little children should be aware of the environment under their parent's guidance, not you the waiter. You shouldn't instruct a customer how to act, when it's none of your business, as we have freedom of movement. A prevalent controlling autopilot stemmed from Asian culture. See how you feel when your own freedom being stripped away. This happened 10/19 lunch time. Glad we went elsewhere. -------- You pick your own food. They placed seafood first, noodles/vegetables/tofu in the middle, and sliced meat selection at the end. There are four types of soup bases you can choose plus two types of chilli dry pot style. The raw material all looked fresh and well-maintained. My favorite is the wife purple potato starchy noodle, beef tendon/tripes and various sliced meats. After picking the food, take the bowl to the counter and get weighted. It prices at $14.99/lb. We tried the beef bone broth soup base, and it was very good! The soup was not too spicy, full of flavors and it had no msg. Service was helpful, friendly and non-intrusive. The waiter volunteered to take a picture for us, which was kind. At the end, a staff came and asked us about the feedback. I might be too excited as a first timer and loaded too much food. The bill was unusually high. My suggestion is go easy on selections, skip weighty noodle and go for meats first. Overall the experience was quite enjoyable. Will be back again to try other soup bases.
Super expensive, each bowl is at least $35 given $15-$17 per lb. Food is so so unimpressive
