Burger Break East Islip Reviews
We have been coming to this place for decades. They continue to deliver excellent food, service, and that warm welcoming atmosphere over and over. We decided to bring family this time. We can never resist their mezedes (appetizers). We had the lamb riblets, a great green salad, and the plate of taramosalata, tzatziki, eggplant, with pita bread. For our mains, of course, we had their whole grilled and roasted fishes. We ordered the sea bass and the sea bream. The sea bream was divine! We could not make up our mind about which lamb. So, we tried the lamb shank with a side of roasted potatoes (they’re serious about potatoes here!). Another hit! We used to enjoy the whole lamb on a spit a they used to serve cuts from different parts of the lamb. We chose to share 3 desserts that capped off the meal sweetly!
My favorite restaurant in Palo Alto! Came here for date night and enjoyed great food and service. We enjoyed the baked feta tomato and the lamb tremendously. Waiter was fantastic. They bring you treats on a birthday or anniversary. Authentic Greek wines. Cozy decor and delicious smells. Not too loud. Good for groups.
Evvia Estiatorio delivers an unforgettable dining experience that perfectly balances elegance and comfort. From the moment we walked in, the warm lighting, rustic decor, and inviting aromas set the tone for a special evening. The grilled lamb souvlaki was the standout—perfectly charred on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and seasoned with a blend of herbs that transported us straight to the Mediterranean. The saganaki arrived sizzling and was both dramatic and delicious, while the fresh pita paired beautifully with the creamy tzatziki. Service was attentive without being intrusive; our server offered thoughtful recommendations and ensured our table was always taken care of. Even simple details, like the quality of the olive oil and the freshness of the ingredients, showed the restaurant’s commitment to excellence. We ended the meal with baklava, which struck the ideal balance of flaky, nutty, and sweet. Evvia is the kind of place that makes you slow down, savor every bite, and plan your next visit before you even leave. Perfect for celebrations, date nights, or anyone craving authentic Greek cuisine
Excellent and attentive service where the staff seems to try to stay one step ahead of your needs. A rare thing these days at what are pretty reasonable prices (about $100 per person with drinks and dessert). Excellent lamb dishes and good fish presentations. Great value and would be a pretty solid date night I think. The restaurant is on a closed street so you will be dropped off a block or two away if you take rideshare.
Have not eaten at Evvia for ages and happy we revisited! We did all appetizers and enjoyed everything we got: * Evvia salad * taramosalata with pita - good though I would've preferred a stronger fish roe taste similar to what we had in Mykonos * smelts - deep-fried goodness * grilled octopus - perfectly cooked Our next visit will be much sooner!
The service at Evvia was to die for and Ali made the whole night. He was warm, attentive, and just spot on with every recommendation—he really knows his fish and made us feel completely taken care of. We started with the Manitaria tou Fournoú, mushrooms baked with manouri cheese, onions, and herbs, which was such a standout. The Evvia Salata with crisp romaine, avocado, and that creamy feta dressing was simple but so good I’m still thinking about it. For mains, the Kotopoulo Souvlas, oven-roasted chicken with garlic broccolini and potatoes, was cooked beautifully—juicy, flavorful, exactly how it should be. Dessert was next-level. The Galaktoboureko with pistachio ice cream was rich and comforting, and the Yiaourti Cheesecake with a kanefe crust and huckleberry compote was unlike any cheesecake I’ve had before—unique, tangy, and delicious. And I have to say, they nailed the Last Word cocktail. It’s rare to find a place that gets it right, and theirs was perfectly balanced and bright. The vibe ties it all together. Evvia actually opened before Kokkari in San Francisco, and you can feel that same passion for Greek hospitality here. The space is warm and modern with copper pots hanging inside, colorful bottles lining the bar, and that rustic feel that makes it so inviting. The outdoor patio is just as good, with heat lamps that make it cozy any time of year. Between the food, the atmosphere, and Ali’s service, this is the kind of place I’d come back to again and again
This place over the years has been steadily amazing! Their lamb chops are always very aromatic! I was told they were invited to cook for Obama during his second term. Their service is always very smooth and attentive. Great pace in serving appetizers and main courses. Both indoor and outdoor seatings are comfortable, pleasant. Just really love this place!
A Sublime Experience at a Greek Mediterranean inspired Taverna with Interiors showcasing an open kitchen, fireplace & other Mediterranean motifs. We enjoyed the bar with soft lighting colored bottles around and then sat outside while enjoying a balmy comfortable Palo Alto evening to celebrate our cherished Rendezvous. Pinot Noir cheers followed soon with melt in your mouth ‘grilled Artichoke Eggplant’ Appetizer which was accompanied by a panko crust styled perfectly done Calamari. I particularly enjoyed the Robust yet light Greek Extra Virgin Olive oil with some warm Sourdough. She started off with a quote by Socrates and we engaged in philosophy orations while enjoying a most juicy Kotopoulo Souvlas. Bravo to the Chef ! The Wine Collection is unparalleled and She had an Engaging time discussing various Reds with the Sommelier. The service was unhurried and most attentive and many thanks to the charming Maitre d’ for accommodating our request to sit together as close as possible to enjoy our romantic evening.
Evvia delivers a great dining experience .. The atmosphere is wonderfully vibrant and the service is impeccable and gracious. But the food... the food was the star. Some of the highlights amongst others….. The grilled octopus was hands-down the best I've ever had, incredibly tender and flavorful. We also loved the creamy, authentic taramosalata and the whole sea bass, which was cooked to flaky perfection. We finished with the galaktoboureko, a warm, custardy dessert that was simply divine. While some of the dishes were a bit salty for my personal taste, it was a minor note in what was otherwise a flawless culinary experience. Evvia is a must-visit in Palo Alto.
Evvia is a beautiful and spacious Greek restaurant in Palo Alto with lovely outdoor seating that’s perfect for a relaxed meal. The ambiance strikes a balance between upscale and welcoming. For appetizers, the saganaki is absolutely to die for—rich, perfectly crisped, and bursting with flavor. As for the main course, the lamb chops were incredibly tender and cooked to perfection, packed with bold Mediterranean seasoning. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience feel personalized and warm. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Greek cuisine in the area!
This was my second time at Evvia and it was just as good as the first time I went! One of my coworkers originally told me about this place and took me here and I couldn’t stop thinking about the calamari I got. This time I ordered the calamari, zucchini chips, and artichoke souvlaki for appetizers. Then I ordered the sea bass Psari Psito for my entree. Everything was delicious! The whole grilled fish has such great flavor. 10/10 It can be a little hard to get reservations here, so definitely look in advance, or sometimes you might get lucky like I did and find an opening the day before (likely someone cancelled). The service was also excellent and the waiter was very attentive. I’m sure I’ll be back again in the future!
Grilled lamb chops was the star, cooked medium well and came out amazing. Ambience and decor is ideal for most environments.
Octopus was incredible but I was afraid of it. Definitely recommend it. Sauce the prawns came with was amazing. They cut my rib eye up for me which I loved. It was slightly over cooked however flavor still good. All the appetizers were delicious we tried like 6 that I didn’t have room for my steak. Made me a great martini. I couldn’t get them to fill my water to save my life however. Overall decent. Get the octopus and keep an open mind!
We were seated quickly at a cozy outdoor table with heaters, which made the space feel warm and inviting. Arriving with a serious appetite, we started with four appetizers, and the standout was definitely the Garides tou Fournou—perfectly cooked prawns bursting with flavor. For the main course, we shared the Arnisia Plevrakia (grilled lamb), which was absolutely delicious. The portion size was generous yet ideal for two people. A small note for improvement would be serving the bread warm; once we mentioned it, our waiter kindly accommodated the request. Overall, the service was attentive and pleasant, and the food arrived promptly without feeling rushed. A very enjoyable dining experience that we’d happily repeat.
We had a great dinner here. Service was great and the ambiance was very nice. We were sat outside in the patio and it was warm enough with the heat lamps on this chilly night. The standouts were the Smelt, Octopus, Pan Fried Cheese, Grilled While Fish, Rib Cut Lamb Chop, Cheesecake, Lava Chocolate Cake, and the Phyllo Dough wrapped Semolina Custard. Just a great experience overall!
Extraordinary service very welcoming team, very accommodating and nice restaurant. It was my first time visiting Evvia. I met friends for cocktails and appetizers which were "ok". It wasn't bad just ok. Tinny portions even for appetizers at a large price for their tiny dishes. I can't stress enjoy what a lovely atmosphere and wonderful service. Their desserts options were very nice. I had the rice pudding with a pear. It was ok.
We celebrated a special occasion at Evvia Estiatorio and it was an unforgettable experience. The food, ambiance, and service all came together beautifully. We started with the crispy zucchini chips with tzatziki, which were light, crunchy, and perfectly paired with the refreshing dip. For mains, the grilled whole fish was cooked to perfection—flaky, tender, and full of flavor—accompanied by charred vegetables that added the right balance. The lamb chops were another highlight, juicy, tender, and infused with rich Mediterranean spices that made every bite melt in your mouth. The warm, elegant atmosphere made the night feel even more special, and the staff made sure everything went smoothly, adding thoughtful touches throughout the evening. If you’re looking for authentic Greek flavors in an upscale yet welcoming setting, Evvia is the place to go. Perfect for date nights, family celebrations, or any occasion you want to feel truly special.
This is a decent place to have brunch. The food is good. The salmon I have is not crisp on the edges so I am a little disappointed. The sauce is a wrong sauce for this salmon. Improvement: It will be better with a dill lemon sauce, being Greek, you could mixed the fresh dill herbs with yogurt and that will make the dish better. Never pour the sauce on the fish as it will make it soggy. The sauce should always stay at the bottom at the base and the fish lay on it.
I heard it's a fantastic restaurant, so we came specifically because of its reputation. Thankfully, we made an online reservation—otherwise, they wouldn’t let you in. Even though we had a 5 p.m. reservation, many tables were empty, but the staff told walk-in customers that the restaurant was fully booked for the night. We glanced at the menu and ordered the famous octopus leg. It looked very plain and unappetizing, and it had a weird smell—not sure if it was because of the seasoning or the quality of the octopus. We also tried the grilled cheese recommended by the server. Oh my, I regretted ordering it so much—it was extremely salty and felt too heavy as an appetizer. After eating the grilled cheese, I almost lost my appetite. My mouth felt so salty that I kept drinking water. Lastly, the lamb shank was also just average—bland and nothing special. I feel like I could’ve made something better at home. The service, however, was excellent. The staff refilled our water promptly and were very attentive. Maybe this restaurant really isn’t worried about lacking customers, or perhaps they’re genuinely too busy, which might explain why they weren’t very friendly toward walk-in guests. After the meal, my husband had diarrhea when we got home—all because of that grilled cheese. Maybe this place is more suitable for people who prefer heavy flavors. For me, it can be summed up in one word: salty. I won’t be coming back.
