What Customers Say About Katsura
Katsura Sushi in El Paso offers a mixed experience. While some customers praise the fresh food, attentive service (especially Jackie), and peaceful atmosphere, others report issues with slow service, price increases, and poorly prepared sushi with skimpy fillings. Katsura El Paso Reviews
This is my favorite sushi place! Very festive, live music certain nights. Great prices and great rolls! Recommended menu items. Shake tea and combination rice are always a hit and never a miss!
Love eating sushi here, especially Nigiri and sashimi! 😋
I'm not big on sushi but I like this place there tariyaki and there fried sushi are pretty good
The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Ask for Andrew he took great care of us.
Got to try this restaurant and found quite delicious and inventive rolls. The Spicy Mango contains both the sweet of a mango sauce with a sight burn of jalapenos as it is garnished with such. The Sea Snake comes tastefully with eel and eel sauce combined with cream cheese that delivers a delicious taste that has a hint of banana at the very end. The misi soup bursts with flavor and stuffed shrimp serves as the perfect appetizer. Looking forward to returning and digging further into the menu.
Wonderful sushi menu. Reasonable prices for great quality Japanese food in the area. They have non-fish options for those who are new to sushi. Comfortable atmosphere. Green tea is tasty, no watered down as in other places. Must try green shaked tea.
First time in Katsura and YOU have to go! It’s the cleanest and cozy spot with amazing food. The Tempura Shrimp Roll is to die for. IT WAS FIRE!! The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. Good place, delicious food!
Really great happy hour specials and an even better variety of sushi rolls to choose from! Something for everyone on the menu. This is the second time we visit this place and it's really good, never disappoints. I recommend the panko roll and the chicken special is very tasty. They're coconut tea is perfect and refreshing. The service is always great with a very attentive staff. If you are skeptical about sushi, try this place and I bet you'll get hooked. Keep up the great work!
Absolutely wonderful! The ambience is very calming and our waitress Alexis N. was very attentive, friendly, and funny. Highly love their miso soup, California roll, and mini rice balls with eel sauce! Most definitely coming here for sushi from now on!
Our waitress was Alexis N. Literally sat down at our table and wasn’t in the best of moods. Alexis took great care of us and turned all of our moods around. She was so nice, positive and always smiling. Thank you for taking care of us Alexis.
Great variety of food. Kind of empty and slow. Food did not disappoint. Be very prepared to pay extra if you pay with card I paid with debit but still had to pay extra plus tip. Take cash if you dont want to pay a little extra & it is a fee doesn’t go to server. Our server wasn’t attentive we had to ask serval times for sauces etc. however she was friendly.
Delicious rolls!! I ordered via UberEats tonight and it was great! They gave me everything I requested on the side (chopsticks, sriracha, spicy mayo). Perfect order and the rolls were delicious. Only suggestion is, can you please label the rolls next time so I know what to order next time? Thanks, guys!
Started with the gyoza, which was crispy and a solid choice. Has the special combination sushi plate, the Nigiri was very good. Healthy portion and very clean tasting. Did a tuna roll instead of california roll, gotta say the tuna roll had a very healthy amount of tuna which I appreciated. Service was very good, atmosphere was good, nothing to complain about.
I love Katsura Sushi! The sushi is always fresh and the atmosphere is really nice. My favorite is the spicy mango roll, it’s the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and I get it every time I go. The service is great and the staff are always friendly. Definitely one of my favorite sushi spots in El Paso! 🍣🩷
Katsura Sushi was a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, and everything tasted fresh and well prepared. We truly enjoyed our visit. The sushi is a bit overpriced;however, it's probably the better of the sushi's we've had since moving to El Paso.
It was my first time here and the service was excellent. They have an amazing sushi selection and a modern dining are with good vibes. The wait staff was extremely professional and friendly and made sure we were taken care of in a timely manner.
Highly recommend this location. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the food was fresh and delicious. This is not a fast food place. If you want to have a great family experience where you may interact together, I recommend this location.
Great Environment. Food Was Bomb. Service Was Okay. Ordered A Ramen Which Says On There That It Came With All These Topings And It Didn't, So Had To Order On The Side. Just Felt Like Waiter Could've Mentioned That
**It's not as bad as the reviews would make you think!** Me and my family have really enjoyed the Katsura restaurants of Juárez, so when me and my dad where in El Paso yesterday, we decided to give this one a shot. I looked up the reviews for it and initially I got worried, since many of them went full negative and rated 1 star. However there must have been some huge revamp between the last negative review and my visit, because it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. The tables were clean and the waiter that served us was very friendly. However something I have to note is that the service was kinda slow comapred to the other Katsura restaurants I've been to even though there wasn't a lot of people. I had a veggie yakimeshi and a ramen soup (thinking it was going to be a small bowl). Both of the dishes were very clearly freshly made. The rice in the yakimeshi was very good, and it didn't felt burnt or compacted. I've never had ramen before, so I didn't know what to expect. Some people in very old reviews compared the ramen to instant noodles, but I can assure you nowadays that isn't the case. The ramen had a much different flavor and consistency than those of instant noodles. I don't think Katsura is exactly what you'd call authentic Japanese food, and I don't think that it really matters as long as the food is good (plus like 99% those "Japanese food connosieurs" that you see around on Google and Yelp are just pretentious hipsters who haven't eaten in Japan, aren't Japanese that have tasted actual Japanese food or haven't taken a gastronomy course, so you shouldn't really trust them when it comes to authenticity). I think they must have changed chef or something because again, my experience was nowhere near as bad as the old reviews made it out to be. That said though, the rolls is kind of expensive (dad ordered a roll which was worth around 13 dollars), which is weird because the ones in Juarez are very reasonably priced. My final veredict is that the food is good, but if you're not someone who's got time to spare or are looking for cheap meals, this is not the sushi restaurant for you.
Iyve lived off of Zaragosa for 8 years but this was my first time trying in service at this place. It was late on a Friday evening when we went. Service was a bit slow but the food was good and came in the great portion sizes. The menu seeed to extensive and repetitive but there was still plenty to choose from. We would definitely go back to try some other things out.
So nice place!!, my first time in a suchi bar, and so yummy, nice place, so amazing service, I recommend it. Praices variet between 6 to 20 dollars so not bad. My favorite was sapacy tuna hand roll so love it not so spacy but really delisus. The soup are great too. 😊💮🍙🍖🍱
Great lunch deal, food looked great on spouse’s plate. My cucumber roll was okay. Wasn’t expecting it to have rice and the cucumber cuts are clunky n breaking apart so it’s hard to eat, but the fish inside was good.
Went here to celebrate a birthday. Service was a bit slow, but the staff was friendly and helpful. The miso soup was tasty but very salty. Ordered several types of sushi, they were all beautifully arranged. Very eye appealing and delicious. Had the chicken teppanyaki, tasty but the vegetables were very salty and chicken dry. We had some lychee saki and fried cheesecake. They were delicious and we had a lot of fun, regardless of some salty food.
Overall experience of @katsura_zaragoza was really good. Now I will be honest not everything is for everyone but it still is fun to explore but it's important to be clear on what you're ordering as there should not be a mix up. The customer service first off is amazing and the fact that if by chance there is any possible issue it can be discussed and the management take you serious. I appreciate the one on one. They are doing pretty well cleaning wise. Luckily most of their orders are take out and believe me it's super #worth it!!! Eating at home; I'm sure can be just as as fun. #sushi #rolls #japanesecuisine #shareable #pricey #specials Possible Appetizer 1. Miso 🍲 Y'all I believe this is probably the best miso I've ever had it's not salty the nori (seaweed) is chopped up small the tofu are cute little cubes and the salt is perfect! Definitely say yes if they offer. 2. Bamboo Roll Don't even know how to express I'm not a big raw fish fan you know I stay normally along the lines of fried rolls but I cannot kid you. This was amazing not fishy although there is definitely salmon and the eel sauce, spicy mayo and soy sauce were definitely a touch extra that cannot go wrong. Easy to eat swallow the roll was a great size shareable but you can also eat it on your own if it's all you're getting.Definitely recommend and I will get again for sure. 3. Sea Snake This will be the first time I truly believe more than 2 dishes are meant to be. If you're unsure definitely try this especially if it's your first time the eel sauce helps so so much. It's a little sweet and with the mix of the ingredients it just is ok point. Easy to eat swallow the roll was a great size shareable but you can also eat it on your own if it's all you're getting. Just as before recommend and I will get again no doubt. The Entree Dishes Dish 1: Chicken Yakiniku Rice 🍚 is to die for as soon as you top it off with soy sauce or eel sauce it gets even 1000 times better it's a straight 100 on its own not salty so you can season it yourself and or just mix with your chicken which I did. Now I will confess I don't think I got to enjoy this as much just because I was pretty full but it was good I would recommend even to share or maybe get as a dish maybe a child can eat. Recommend for a first timer. Dish 2: Yakisoba with Beef You love beef flavor and some salt this is for you it's pretty saucy but not like dripping wet. Full of flavor does have red cabbage so a surprise that someone who doesn't normally eat it likes it. If you want the cabbage softer I would request to see if they can cook it a bit more. It's a bit crunchy compared to the rest of the dish. The sauce is definitely something you can expect if you've thought of how Yakisoba tastes through documentaries or stalls at a festival. Dish 3: Tempura Veggies Anything fried tastes pretty darn good especially veggies. I love these and cannot complain. I'm not a fan of bell peppers but you can always share with someone that can enjoy so no biggie. I love how it's not over salty on batter and they give you a side of sauce to poor or dip the pieces in. I recommend if you like a side with your rolls. Beware though you may get addicted. It does come with fresh cabbage so only recommendation may be to ask them to boil it or you can save it and make coleslaw at home if you're not a fan of it raw like me. Final dish/appetizer: Cucumber Specialty. (This item was not something we ordered as there was a mix up.) I'm going to be honest. I tried one piece and my mom half a piece. Now I love cucumbers but I don't like things that taste a lot like tuna or anything that has big fishy taste. Though I recommend if you are a fishy fan and I mean really enjoy fish then I recommend it if you don't you may want to stay away. The cucumber tasted fresh and the inside was definitely a texture to behold.
The food was excellent, as always, but the servive was terrible. Our waitress had to be reminded constantly about our needs, i.e. napkins, chopsticks, water, refills on drinks, etc. When we decided we wanted a couple more rolls, she said they had several orders ahead, trying to talk us out of our order. I don't think management plans on enough help for Friday crowd.
It's "meh". I've eatten there before and wanted to give it a second try. It is kind of weird that the soy sauce is extra as well as the ginger and wassabi, I don't know of too many other places that do that. The sushi isn't bad, it just isn't good. I'm ashamed to admit I've had Albertson's brand sushi that was more delicious.
It's el paso. We are in a desert. You won't find good sushi here. But the service was quick, and the restaurant was clean. The sushi wasn't too bad. Just dont expect a lot.
1/13/24 Phone in order 3 rolls.Wait time 30+min.Rolls were decent size.Came in small size foam containers.Taste was plain all rolls tasted the same. .Picked up to go no wasabi in bag .Dragon roll, shrimp crunch, bermudez Rolls..Not impressed.Pricey.
I like this place. I want to love it but never had an experience that could make it so. One of the times a group of us had gone, our waitress asked if we preferred that she either speak English or Spanish.. We said "English please." Her reply was "Noooooo.", just like Consuela from Family Guy. We couldn't believe it. Out of the 6 or so times I've been, my order has never been correct according to how I had ordered it. Not so major to where I had to send food back, but I end up having to take time picking something out of my food that I had asked to not have in it at all. Good sushi, decently priced, less than mediocre service.
This place has a nice set up and good food, however the waiting was horrible. They are slow in preparing and the waiters disappear and did not see a manager around checking if service is good or not... Not going there again
The food is great but the service is extremely horrible. It's like pulling teeth trying to order. I'm also amazed by the lack of common Sense the waitress has. Of course we want drinks!
I've had their sushi before and it wasn't bad. I tried placing an order today. I called about 10 times (literally) and kept sending me to voice mail even after showing it was open.
The place is clean, well lit, plenty of seating. The manager was friendly and greeted us but... the food was kinda good but there was no flavor but the soup was really good .
Overprice! Portion size and presentation does not reflect the high price you'd expect when paying so much. Sushi was warm and did not taste great or taste fresh. Doesn't have bento boxes.
I always order the udon fire noodle dish with shrimp and beef. I love the dish the first times I usually order Togo. Now always comes out different , dry and with regular brocolli not brocollini. Just keep recipes on spec so your food is not different from what the guest are use to. Just saying cause it’s not a meal that’s not expensive for noodles. Just try to keep your recipe a the same.
As someone who used to work in a sushi bar, this sushi is maybe the worst I've had. Barely any avocado or crab and the shrimp is not de-veined. They also but cream cheese which i didnt ask for. The sushi rice is flavorless, like they just cooked and no vinegar or anything. The only good thing was the gyoza but even that Ive still had much better.
Decided to get dinner with an old friend visiting from Dallas. We were sat down fairly quickly but it was all downhill from there. Took a significant amount of time to get drinks only to screw up the lemonade and our waitress forgot our appetizer. The free miso soup sounded nice but then upon receiving the miso, you might as well boiled some water with some grass cuts cause that’s all it tasted like. When we received our food my friend’s girlfriend noticed the fish was not fresh and had it sent back. I pushed through as best I could but also came to the same conclusion, oh we weren’t served napkins either. This whole ordeal took over 50 minutes!! The only reason I tipped was because it looked like the waitress was new and I felt sympathetic to her situation. I didn’t want to leave a negative review until I was forced to live in the bathroom for two days. I feel bad leaving this review cause I typically just don’t go back to places with a negative experience but it’s a health concern now.
Overpriced, when you consider the portion and the amount of fish in each sushi roll. The sushi rolls themselves taste alright, but are just not worth as much as they cost. Food was a little slow to arrive, although my party only ordered two rolls. We ordered water, and without further clarification, the waitress brought us two bottles of water. We asked about it and found out that each bottle costs $2. If you are going to dine here, be sure not to inadvertedly pay for water.
Great Great service... Too bad the food is over fried.I ordered age giozas and a Dana Roll and sadly both were over fried and the taste of old oil I guess. Ask for a "limonada mineral" and the only thing I could taste was the syrup they add (NO, it is not natural) (Horrible). Their high prices do not reflect the food quality. I used to love Katsura.
I placed an order to go, they told me it was going to be ready in 20-25 min. It took them more than 30 minutes.
Took almost 40 minutes to prepare three roll when they only had 2 tables to serve. They dont even ofered a glass if water while you wait. Food is good but I will never go back
I wish I could give them a 0 star rating!!! They just stole $21 from me. It's not a lot I know but still they STOLE!! They charged my account and they claim it was a system error but I can't get my money back!!! Terrible
Don't ever get the lunch special. The teriyaki chicken was very dry and the rice did not taste like fried rice. The "cucumber salad" was just cucumber with lemon and rice noodles. Stick to the sushi that's alright.
The sushi was mainly just rice. I ordered the load your Cali roll which was supposed to be “loaded” with crab meat but it wasn’t. Definitely not worth what I paid for. Do not recommend.
I called 30 minutes before closing. They placed me on hold however not on mute and continued to talk and laugh with other employees. The hope was that I would get tired of waiting and hang up so they wouldn’t have to make it.
Don’t bother coming to this place. Food is nasty. Rolls are pre made and dried. 1 star is too much for them! Overpriced flavorless food.
My experience here was one of the worst i’ve had in a long time the waiter took forever to bring our drinks then after waiting 30 min asked if we needed anything else wihout ever taking us our food not only that but once he went to the kitchen and told em our food was missing he said it had to be to go and put in a box since the diner was closing
Went the other day, horrible. Server had an attitude and was really rude to me and my family for no reason, Delilah i believe. Katsura is one of me and my family’s favorite restaurant but this experience ruined it for me. Will only be attending the Katsura on the west side from now on.👎🏼
Service sucks. Food is great. They take a long time and you always have to be asking for a refill. This place needs better management.
I just placed an ordered I have eaten there before and it wasn’t that bad now I got my order sushi it’s not good at all taste like nothing the Bermudez supposed to have toreados well I guess they have no toreados cuz it didn’t have any on top of that i wasn’t aware they charge extra for soy sauce bottom line I’ll never come back to this place
First costumers of the day. I ordered dumplings and a roll. Within 30 minutes of leaving I got violently ill. I ended up getting food poisoning. Never going again.
If I could've given zero stars, I would have. From the moment I walked in and waited to be seated as the sign asked, I was ignored. An older guy at the cash register finally made eye contact and nodded at me, so I took that as I was meant to seat myself. I did so. 5 minutes or so later, he walks toward me with a bag saying "Uber, right?" I told him I was not Uber. More time passes, waitresses walking by ignoring me, until one of them asks if I was Uber. Again, I said no. Finally, a waitress comes to take my order. "To go? " I request for here. Another waitress takes my order. I ask for a drink, to which she said "To go? " Again, I request for here. When my order comes out, it's in a bag. To go. This is by far the rudest place I've ever been. Every other customer that walked in was immediately greeted and seated. I don't know what their problem is here, but I don't recommend going.
I ordered sashimi, however, I was given nagiri. The sushi roles had very little flavor. Definitely not worth the $$$$. The only thing that was decent was the miso soup I also ordered.
Unfortunately, this is the worst sushi ive ever had. The rice was old, the rolls didnt stay together, and when i ordered delivery they didnt even have the courtesy to include the standard wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce to go with the rolls.
This place is terrible we have been there before and this time we ordered it for delivery and it was horrible I got the premier cucumber and the cucumber was brown the rice was over cooked and smooshed. The sushi was all very messy, we also got the Guadalajara roll and it was horrible it had no flavor and was just as messy and nasty as the other one. Will never be back this place is way to expensive to be this bad. if I could give no stars I would because one star doesn’t do it justice I have no idea what happened to the quality we have been customers several times and always spend at least $60 at this place and it’s disappointing to know it has gone down the drain.
I ordered shrimp teppanyaki for $19, i received the plate and had 5 shrimps and some vegetables, no rice and no noodles. I called and she said i had to add rice or noodles separately for more money. Very ridiculous. The shrimp was not even that good.
I ordered their Bermudez roll, and it used to be small and full of food. Today when I ordered it again, it’s a huge roll but it’s mostly rice and nothing inside. Their crab sunomono salad used to have some type of sauce and now it’s dry. My husband ordered chicken teriyaki and it was such a small portion for the price. Also, they charge if you want additional sauces like come on I ordered two rolls and I only get two sauces. That’s ridiculous. I will no longer eat there again.
I hope the owner or manager reads this review and takes notice of what took place Last night July 4th In case they are not aware. we ordered via uber eats, a 70 dollar order at 7 :14 pm . 20 minutes later we checked the app to get an update for our order and saw that it had been canceled with out notice. We called the restaurant and no answer. Knowing that closing time is at 10:30 we continued to call . FINALLY after calling from another number than the one we ordered from, an employee answered. We asked if they were closed the employee said "no not until 10:30" when we asked him about our canceled order there was a dead silence then he hung up the phone . We called back and of course no answer. . Dealing with hard times due to covid-19 you would think a restaurant would appreciate the support. Nothing was ever resolved. Terrible customer service. Maybe people should take their business elsewhere.
Absolutely terrible place. Horrible customer service. Takes over an hour to bring appetizers. Found hair in my food, disgusting. Waitress brought out the wrong food multiple times and charge my family and I for it. Wouldn’t recommend not even to my worst enemy
Enjoyed the Sushi but I left a personal item on the table and when i tried to get it back 10 minutes later, the manager said they would call me at the end of the day to see if they had it. The waiter had to have picked it up when he cleared the table. This is a very dishonest establishment and neither me or my friends will ever go back.
a.) Overly priced crap b.) Ordered a "prime rib" with veggies on the menu. Received overly cooked, dry, beef jerky PIECES in soup with "vegetables (a carrot)". Specifically did not order sesame seeded dish due to allergies, but food had a pound of sesame seeds. c.) the sushi was lack luster at best. If this is "great sushi", I'll get a five year old a sushi kit, some dry rice, and scant pieces of fish to make better attempt at sushi. You can come over to my house, and I'll make a fortune on the "great sushi." This place is basically another Mexican restaurant that wouldn't know "great" sushi if it smacked them in their overly priced faces. You the reader can go if you want. But be warned, its overly priced and overly cooked! To summarize: this place is 3/10 in quality.
Very upset. I used to come here all the time and the food was decent for the price. Now they have upped their prices and still have the old prices on the menu. I paid 90 dollars for two people when I used to pay 50 max for the same amount of food. Horrible this will be my last time going there.
Ordered a squid salad, seaweed salad, an eel roll and spicy tuna roll, to go. Both of the rolls were under sized and had 8 pieces each. Both salads were mostly noodles, with a quarter inch seaweed and squid on top. They couldn't even bother to give us wasabi and ginger with our rolls. All that for $41.00! Never again!
Been here several other times and it has always been the same lack of service but this time, tops it all. Today went with my wife and 2 kids, waiter offered us a table for 2 when he literally saw us with our kids. There is 1 waiter for the hole place, so you know its going to take some time to be served or even before some one comes around to offer something to drink. We kno sushi is not cheep but these people are puting their prices through the roof and on top of it all they will charge you for all the sides that you will eat your sushi with, like eal sauce, siracha, etc.this guys have also lack the quality of their food, it was one of our favorite places to eat sushi and now we are not even stoping by at all. This guys are litery struggling to make their rent so they have blown their prices way out of proportion. When we would have dinner there usually would pay $40-$50 for 4 rolls and drinks may be a beer or so but that was about it. Today we ended paying $80 for the same thing exept no alcohol. So heads up if you are heading that way. Food isn't worth the price ill recomend you to go to cattle barron instead
Such a beautiful atmosphere, server so nice, but the food was so bland it tasted boiled, by far the worse food I've tasted in El Paso, I pray they get a better chef, octopus was so rubbery, calamari tasted like it was microwaved, dumplings tasted like the ones I buy at Costco, ramen, is like the one that comes in a package, spicy mayo tasted just like mayo, I asked for Sriracha to add to the spicy mayo, sushi rolls by far no flavor, not even the sauces helped, and we paid almost 80 dollars, very sad and dissatisfied!
Waited over 1HR, 1HR! For a small to go order. Was not going to eat there since my 4yr old doesn’t stay still at restaurants & turns out I had to wait over 1 HR with no food and a tired kid. Also noticed the chefs were eating while preparing the food. Also pricey.
Over priced, poor communication with server, slow . Took an hour and half for 3 items
So I understand businesses have different hours for holidays, however when you display them to view for the public and we are still adhering to the hours of operation for dine in, you have the audacity to kick us out stating you are now closed only after getting greeted at the door and a table to sit at just simply displays your poor service and justifies all your ratings. Word of mouth travels fast...so do reviews. Thank you for not servicing us tonight ladies! We ended up else where with better service and food.
Absolutely horrendous service. We waited an entire hour (AN HOUR) to get our food. Half the tolls were completely undersized. Half the rolls were without flavor. The girl who served us did not acknowledge us at all while waiting for our food FOR AN HOUR. This is without a doubt the worst service I’ve ever had. I won’t ever eat here again and I’ll be making sure to tell every person I know to never eat here. You would think that after waiting an hour, the waitress would at least offer us more miso soup or, I don’t know, a refill on our drinks? This isn’t a joke: We literally had no refills on anything, nothing for a whole hour without any information on why it was taking so long or when our food was going to come out. Truly the worst experience I’ve had at a restaurant. It doesn’t help that I went for my birthday. I wish I could leave a 0-star review.
Absolutely horrible service. Our waitress came over all of three times during the whole time. Our appetizer (fried rice balls) took as much time as the sushi to come out. And the sushi was atrocious, it was warm and rubbery and was barely edible. I was legitimately afraid that I was going to get food poisoning from this place. It wasn't even worth the time to go in. Next time, I'll gladly drive another twenty minutes away to actually get decent sushi.
Food quality was poor. And service. Over salted miso soup. Over seasoned calamari. Over charged for simple sushi rolls that tasted bland. Took them over 30 to make 2 rolls. Servers aren't even familiar with what they are selling or serving. First and last time eating here.
What a rip off. $21 for a rainbow roll with stale cucumbers and nasty fish! Avoid this place unless you want to waste your money and end up hungry.
We went here right before leaving the state to go back home. Our waitress spilled most of our ramen and then spilt a fresh hot ramen on our table leg and floor. We had to ask her to mop the floor and ended up needing to clean up most of it ourselves. The manager never came to check on us and the waitress avoided our table after the fact. we were not offered a first aid kit and I had to ask for ice more than once. They gave us a discount of about $7, which was fine but the service itself was lack luster. I did ask one waitress for a manager and still the manager never came. We overheard them discussing our table and deciding to ignore us because we didn't cause a scene. Definitely will not be going back. The ingredients were cheap and the menu pricey for items that are basic. There was also a sign on the register that lied about the inflation of prices (which ingredients are more expensive but not to the amount the claimed) it was a weird experience overall.
Not worth your money at all. It's going to be my first and last time in this restaurant. Calamari was way too salty. It was already cold and stale when the server brought it to our table. Miso soup tasted so watered-down. The Ramen tasted and looked like the instant ramen you could get from grocery store for $.25 each. The sushi rolls hardly had fish in it. They took so much effort to make the fish slices as thin as possible. Spend your money elsewhere people.
Terrible experienced! Sushi was awful no taste at all like they use regular white rice! The miso soup was plain water with no seasoning. The ramen was so salty!
Very disappointed with this place. Waited long to be served and our food was not hot when it finally arrived. Server and staff seemed a bit lost and overwhelmed and the restaurant wasn't even full.
I had decided to give them a second chance, as last time my drink had rice at the bottom of the glass and was visually dirty. today we had super bad service, 15 minutes after sitting at table and not a single server even looked at us despite restaurant being almost empty. never coming back
I ordered through Uber Eats they were fast I given that but when I opened my order you could tell the sushi roll wasn't fresh at all. I ended up throwing it away. The sushi was dead cold like if it has been in a fridge for days. Never again. :( so sad cause I really wanted to sushi.
I work close to this location. We had gone in last week and were not only very pleased with the food but also excited to see that they delivered. We placed our order today and was told it would be 30 minutes. Here we are still waiting an hour later. I called to check on the order at 3:44pm and was told they were already on their way 20 min later still no food. Hope it gets here soon. Update it got here. Soggy . . Ugh
If i could give zero stars i would. Worst service ever!!! It took 3 waiters to sit us down and tables were dirty. Every single employee looked miserable and that ruined the experience. The music was horrible, i feel bad for the guy singing. The food was decent but the customer service was so bad that it overshadowed the quality of the food. If i ever return it would be for fried ice cream to go.
Complete waste of $50. I ordered three items and they were all cold when they arrived, no dip for the Gyoza, no wasabi or ginger included. The quality of the food was so terrible I was afraid to get sick if I ate I threw it out and ordered dinner from somewhere else.
Katsura Team, what can I say. I LOVE this place! Hoping and praying this doesn't turn into a LOVED this place. The Menu needs to be revised and practiced with Head Sushi Chef. I've been coming here for many years and eat multiple times a Month. Unfortunately, with today's service this will definitely keep me away for quite some time. New staff, is understandable which is part of every restaurant hiring new staff. Get the Menu right at least, ordered a Norwegian and Caballero Roll (something I ALWAYS order). Staff stated this was correct as it stated on the specifications of ingredients in the menu. This means they lack Proper Training!!!! Management, please from the bottom of my heart from a point of view of a Katsura lover. Get it right, or most people will be soon to be gone forever.
Overpriced, flavorless, and disappointing. Menu was provided and after we made our orders we get told the prices were old, and some menu items would cost more. Then once we got our sushi order we were caught off guard by the small amount of meat/stuffing. Someone orderered a plate, and their whole plate only had 4 shrimps then just vegetables and rice despite being $25. Super disappointing, and it felt like a complete waste of money. Save your money. Go eat sushi somewhere else.
Not worth your money!!! So overpriced for bad sushi and a plate that was just vegetables. So disappointing would never recommend.
They don’t follow the schedule they have on the website. We got there at 8:15 PM and they closed at 9:00 PM and the kitchen was already closed. They refused the service.
Walked in at 8:36, they closed at 9. As soon as I walked in, the chef and hostess/server rolled their eyes and sighed of annoyance. I then said how order would be take out, i ordered and waited till 9:08 to get 1 order of sushi. Cold but yet was overcooked and burnt on other parts. You could tell it was made in a rush but still took them over 30min to make it. Shame, I used to come and it was great. I guess I came a little too late for their liking
Where do I even begin.. it had been a few years since i had last visit this place. From what I remembered it was good. BOY HOW IT HAS CHANGED. As we walked in there was absolutely nobody that worked there to be seen. Sat down and waited about 20min just to get asked what we wanted To drink. (We should have left by this point) Why call it a Japanese restaurant but have reggaeton blasting on the speakers? Ordered the rainbow sushi as an appetizer and I promise you’re better off getting 3 day old sushi that’s been sitting at vista market. No flavor, rice was stale and did I mention no flavor? They don’t even give you the basic condiments that normally come with sushi, and for some reason their soy sauce is light brown. I felt terrible because my wife was craving good sushi so I said, ok let’s try another roll. Got the spicy mango sushi roll and same outcome. But the audacity to have their prices so high for sushi and serve that is beyond me. Our entrees included the udon and yakisoba, again very mediocre, had so much salt that I thought the US was going to go to war for it. They Charge you per can on drinks. In the end I payed 94 dollars for disappointment and regret. If you want decent sushi and food just go to Lins across the street or go to Koze that is about 2min away where you won’t feel like you got robbed if your appetite and money.
Food is everything. The server was super nice and on point and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food though? Awful. The sashimi was thick and hard, the sushi rolls were dinky little pieces of fish and the rice was just bad. I gave this place a shot because I was nearby and most sushi places are closed between lunch and dinner. Until they start making quality food, it's just not worth the bad experience. I'm sorry guys, I'm only leaving a bad review because I hope this gets the leaderships attention. Everything is awesome, even the prices, but the most important thing, the food, is not good at your establishment.
By far the worst sushi I had. First… you get tap water. Then ordered the edamame beans appetizer. It was doused with salt. Why? Then order three sushi rolls. The dragon roll, spider roll, and cabello roll I think. Every rolls were tasteless and straight from the fridge. You can tell the rices were old and started to have the foul smell. And the salmons were so thin like it’s for decorations. You can get better sushi from gas stations than this. Then the atmosphere… definitely not family friendly. They were blasting profanity music the whole time. Absolutely do not go.
This place is terrible. I made a mistake giving it a chance. Live and learn. Just go down the street to Albertsons and get some sushi there. You will save lots and lots of money. This restaurant is an embarrassment to El Paso. I am sorry to say. 1. Rap music playing inside a sushi restaurant. Seriously? Have some respect. Get rid of the samurai armor if you don’t want a Japanese atmosphere. 2. They don’t have a real menu, you have to scan a bar code and use your phone to view it online. It’s not a COVID thing because they give you physical menus for the drinks, but no prices, no pictures and someone made it on Microsoft word. Just black and white. 3. No Wi-Fi. They want you to use internet to see the menu, but don’t offer internet. They tease you with the Katsura Wi-Fi name there, but nope. 4. My nigiri 🍣 was bad. So thin it was almost see through. The salmon had skin…I don’t even know what to say. 5. Ordered a sushi roll, I didn’t know barbecue sauce was even a thing with sushi. It didn’t mix well with the cream cheese inside. 🤢 5a. The ginger was thicker than the sushi, which made the ginger terrible overall. 6. No free refills or waitress never offered us any. I think the lemon aid said no free refills . 7. $3 for using your credit card. No matter the price. $3 dollars. 8. We spent $70 for the worst lunch experience. Ambience was terrible. Maybe grass on one wall…it was weird. Not Japanese at all. Or maybe not even trying. Of note, the waitress is nice. It’s not her fault the place is the way it is. Just go get some Albertsons sushi, it is way better and you u can watch something fun with your family. Honestly.
Extremely dissapointed with my order. I went through uber eats to get 2 Philadelphia rolls and this is what a got. Instead of avocado they just put extra rice. The meat to rice ratio was so off it tasted horrible. Since i ordered through a delivery service it is frustrating to pay a lot in extra fees to have barely edible food.
This establishment is practicing unethical business!!!! This place needs to be reported for blind siding customers and not advertising their increased menu price for each individual item. Placing a little note on the menu does not suffice for informing customers of how much prices have increased. This is unethical business practice!!! Food was not worth what they are charging and the food was horrible! Not even worth 1star!!!
