Guatemayan yum yums Eureka Reviews
We had an absolutely excellent meal here! My husband and I ordered two plates of pupusas to try a bunch of flavors - the chicken and cheese was our favorite, but we would definitely order any of them again. We also had the plantain (YUM), elote (delicious, like a warm corn soup) and a strawberry margarita (tasty & fresh, on the rocks). Service was awesome, very quick and kind. The place was totally empty, so we had it to ourselves. Prices were good, and we felt super satisfied/full. Check this place out, it'll be worth it!
Ordered food to go. My husband and I had been wanting to try pupusas and this looked like they had some really good ones. It was our first time visiting California so we were not sure what to expect. The person who greeted us was very friendly, she took our order of three pupusas: cheese, bean and cheese, and beef and cheese. They were all super delicious. They came with pickled vegetables and a sauce. We also ordered the plantain desert to try and it was very good. Going back to the pupusas- you have got to try them, they were big and full of fillings and very delicious, very hot and fresh. I would def come back again.
Food is absolutely delicious! The staff is super nice and informational. Highly recommend
We loved it We ordered and split a few items and we were very happy with everything we tried. I ordered the Garanchas, I'm not usually one for ordering ground beef as a meat option, but everything was very well seasoned and the portion was generous, we all enjoyed them. We got two tamales, the Chicken Masa and Chuchitos. The Chicken Masa was so fluffy and moist and the Chuchitos was cooked perfectly as well, and for $3.50, you can't beat it. Then we got a plate of three papusas, one of our favorite foods. We got cheese and jalapenos, pork and cheese, and a plain bean papusa. They were cooked nice and crispy on the outside, not too doughy, not too greasy, perfect masa to filling ratio and the curtido was fresh and crisp with the perfect amount of oregano (a lot 😁). We ordered some tres leches to-go, so I'm not sure how it tastes, but it looks beautiful, topped with a strawberry drizzle 🤤 I would definitely recommend stopping in and giving it a try whether you're familiar with Latin American food or not!
On the corner of G and 5th across from Vern's furniture is this yummy place. There are corner and 5th st entrances and the space had a few rooms with mostly table and chairs, but there were a couple of booths in the way back by the large kitchen with glass topped wall to see what's cookin. We ate pupusas and garnachas for the first time ever and enjoyed them. We had horchata and Mex coke, which were great. There were no chips or a salsa bar. An orange sauce came with the pupusas, which are sort of like flat tamales. The large green bottled sauce on the table might have been good when it was opened, but it has a old oxidized taste to me. The jalapeno and cheese pupusas were pretty awesome. Both our plates came with a small pile of pickled slices of jalapenos with onions and carrots, so there was adequate heat provided. I missed eating tortilla chips, but it's not required I suppose. The meat and greens on the garnachas was very good, sort of like little meaty tostada's but not too crispy, so no crackups. A table was set up on the sidewalk for making pupusas on a walkabout, sweet. We will come back to try more Guatemalan food.
Amazing food. Freshly made tortillas. Famousa beer in the liter size. Great green salsa on the tables. Not to be missed.
This is a small little place downtown. It is just delicious! Open kitchen area and you could hear the lady making the pupusas 🫓 fresh! Never would dream of finding such good Guatemalan food in a small place like Eureka California.
Quesobirra tacos were absolutely amazing and my guy loved the papusa. The birraquesodilla needed salt but it was all so delicious. We will be back!!
So delicious, great vibes, warm and comforting food. I want it 3 times a week. Crave-able!

The pupusas were generously stuffed and flavorful! Tried their birria pizza which was a huge and delicious portion for a great price.
The food was great, fantastic, excellent flavors. I had pupusas and the Guatemalan fries. Loved the green hot sauce they had at the table, haven't had anything like this stuff before. The vibe of the restaurant was just opened. It felt like things were sort of haphazardly arranged. Random stuff in the corner in front of the door that looks like it should be the primary entrance. It was also a little dirty, not concerningly so, but again it felt like they opened recently and were still cleaning up the place, but they've been open for over a year. I found the menu a little confusing, a lot of things are not described, it just gives you the name of the food, and it's Guatemalan food that I've never heard of before, so I have no clue what it is or if I might like it. I also feel like the layout and overall formatting could use some work. They were also out of coke and pepsi products, and horchata. They also do not have an ADA compliant door handle to the restroom. Overall I think you should eat here, it's great food, I just mention these things in case they are paying attention to reviews for feedback.
I’ve been here several times and the food is phenomenal!! Their prices are amazing and you’re getting so much for it! Their steak and guac had so much flavor. You can’t go wrong with their fries either. As a Dominican/Venezuelan, this food is very similar to my own culture. Every time I come here I feel like I’m at home trying my mother’s food. Everyone should come pay them a visit!! They’re genuine and hardworking people and I appreciate the love they put in their food.
We got the fried plantains, churro plantains and plantain con leche. All there were amazing!

Stopped here during a roadtrip with my husband. The food is fresh and tastes amazing, my husband is Guatemalan and he was a bit skeptic at first, but WOW! Highly recommend this spot, it is reasonably priced also.

Very nice place with friendly and caring staff. We had the chili relleno and the garnaches with a bean and pork puposas. Overall, the food is very generous with large portions. But my relleno could be warmer and the garnaches shells were a bit too stiff. Also everything needed a bit more flavor and the condiment on each table was a picamas hot sauce that was perfect for my relleno and the garnaches.
This was an interesting place with friendly people and good food. I wanted to try something Guatemalan so I ordered a Pupusa. It was good and so was the enchilada, but what I got as an enchilada didn't look like any enchilada ever had before. I don't know if there was a misunderstanding

When I walked into this restaurant, I got the impression that they had just opened and were still fixing/figuring things out... but I guess that they've been open for at least 8 months now. I did like that it was an open kitchen and how clean everything was. The food was mediocre in flavor. The dish I liked the most that I ordered so far was the jalapeño and cheese pupusas. Everything came out hot and fast, too!

The food was fresh and unique. Awesome house made corn tortillas. We ordered "Guatemalan tacos with shredded beef" and to our bewilderment it was CORNED BEEF! Maybe this was a special for St Pattys a week before? Extremely weird and it just didnt work. Empanadas were mostly crispy, but the fillings were bland. Everything came with an orange sauce that tasted just like cream of tomato soup. The "enchiladas" were tasty, but like everything else a bit bland.
Ordered on DoorDash. Got a pollo tamale, pork & cheese / jalapeño & cheese pupusas, & garnachas. Tamale somehow tasted like a straight black olive, pupusas were cold, & garnachas were literally soggy from so much salsa. To top it all off, ordered Mexican Cokes and were given Diet Cokes. Disappointing because wife and I were so excited to try a new place.
The birria tacos were depressing so was the burritos little meat and the burrito looks like they put together everything in a bowl and slap on the tortilla and wrap it up only. First and last time I'll ever order something from here.

Shutdown for cockroaches! There is NO excuse for this to occur. Cockroaches are not a random infestation you get out of nowhere, and they do not just randomly sneak into the business to instantly spread. Here’s the truth about roaches: continuously practicing poor health & safety precautions that put people in danger is how roaches breed. Despite resilient features, cockroaches need a particular environment to develop an infestation. These are cold, damp, and untouched areas. Having unsanitary environments on-top of not properly disposing of waste, which includes cardboard (not just food) is how they get inside. Which means, eggs travelled on something delivered inside and there are not measures to ensure that those things are disposed of and kept in the correct areas. If you have lazy business practices, you get cockroaches. Another prime example of why you should stay home and eat! Humboldt kitchens are lazy, and don’t think the other restaurants are much better. An average kitchen in Humboldt is a disgusting cross contaminated mess.
Well the paupusas were good, the empanadas came out of a deep frozen bag and the gazpachos were inedible, burnt to a crisp. It was a take away so we discovered this back at our hotel. They should be embarresed to hid burned food in a box and watch you walk out the door with it. This is poor quality control and discurtious to their clientele. I LEFT A TIP, BUT I WANT IT REFUNDED
