Book Chang Dong Soon Tofu Flushing Reviews
A really great tofu stew place with a good assortment of alternative entrees (marinated/spicy pork belly, galbi, etc). Their bibimbap is actually one of my favorites - super fresh and a generous portion - just don’t get it to-go (I think they pre-pack them and it was soggy & wilted the only time I got it to go). I’ve had most of the dishes on their menu and all of it was delicious.
I was looking for a new spot, got bibimbap beef on hot stone. It was filling, well seasoned, tasted clean and fresh. Got all the little appetizers that come with the meal, all tasty. Left satisfied, waitress were attentive, nice and the food came quick. Came out to about $21, $27 with tip. Will go again.
Korean Restaurant that sells Tofu Pot Soup. They have a wide assortment of Tofu Soup. Can also order meat / protein combo with the Tofu Soup. They serve complimentary side dishes that changes seasonally that includes Kimchi, pickled vegetables, Bean sprouts etc. Overall, the service is stellar, food is great as well, but for some reason lacks the umami "kick" from before. Maybe because i ordered mild spicy? Next time I'll order the regular spicy. But still a great restaurant and solid choice for tofu soup nonetheless. 100% recommend if you're getting tofu soup!
SGD is a Korean Soondubu chain specializing in Soondubu and other Korean staples. The staff are friendly and bring the food out quite quickly, and there was little wait for a table. We got the LA Galbi combo with the Original Soondubu, Seafood pancakes, and a stone pot rice. The rice was pretty good, and went well with the soondubu. The soondubu was pretty average, comparable to other places, with the portion size being a bit expensive compared to other locations. The seafood panckaes was good, a bit on the oily side but was good portion and crispy.
Mung bean jelly was my favorite banchan and they gave a black sesame barley congee as a first too. The LA galbi and seafood scallion pancake were the best dishes we ordered. The perilla soondubu also had a nice clean taste! You can also add noodles or ramen to soondubu as an option which other spots normally don’t have.
One of the best Korean tofu pots I've tried. But stay away from the ramen, it's disgusting. They add it straight to the pot so it leaves a starch flavor in it that ruins the whole thing. The kalbi is excellent, well worth the price. Everything else is on point, good service. Highly Recommend it.
I can't say that this place would be a comparable replacement for BCD, but the food was solid. Ordered the pork soondubu and kalbi platter. The side dishes were fresh, the radish kimchi well fermented and tasty. The soup base of the soondubu was flavorful, and the portion generous. I didn't find it salty at all. If anything, a little more salt wouldn't have hurt. The kalbi was seasoned well. The hot stone pot rice was perfect, leaving a delicious scorched rice crust on the bottom to end the meal
Craving for some tofu soup, this place did the job. Food is above average. The layout of the restaurant is nice, it gives each table privacy. Their banchan is ok, some are lacking in flavor, their kimchi taste a bit too fresh, probably didn't fermented long enough. They do refill their banchan, which is nice.
Food and portion was good for the price. However, the service was horrible. Our waiter was attentive for a bit in the beginning but she disappeared and never checked on us. We pressed the bell multiple times and no one came over. We had to flag down other waiters.
Portion fail. Pricing fail. Food is OK at best. 4 people spent 120 dollars and left hungry. If the food was great, at least above average, I would have been OK. But it was OK at best. When I looked at the prices, I thought they would at least come in with large portions. Look at the photos for reference. Pork belly, 30 dollars. Maybe 2 strips? Seafood pancake with barely any seafood, came in slightly burnt. 20 dollars. Marinated pork, 30 dollars. Tofu tang, 19 dollars. Needless to say. Not returning. Seriously. Go to other popular Korean restaurants in town. This is not worth it. There are more Chinese people than Koreans in the restaurant. I wonder why.
