Lucia Pizza Flushing Reviews
This pizza was really delicious. Reminded me of the old school pizza with the crispy but not burnt crust. The sauce was very good because as you know the sauce makes the pizza. The owner of Margarita's (my number 1 from day one pizza) on Jamaica Avenue told me that years ago and it still holds true. Lucia came close. Totally glad I found this GEM. 💎
If New York pizza was made to be grabbed on the go, a quick slice on the run, then Lucia’s in Flushing is the no-nonsense temple of that tradition. Open since ’62, it’s kept its roots dug deep as the neighborhood has transformed around it, from the days when Flushing was just another Queens pocket to now, the heart of the city’s largest Chinatown. Lucia’s has seen it all, and it’s still standing, proof that some things don’t just survive—they become institutions. You walk in, and it’s as classic as it gets. Behind the counter, there’s a little shrine to all the world’s currencies, stuck to the mirror, a testament to the crowd that comes through—ravenous teens, pizza purists, Chinese elders who know a good thing when they see it, and everyone in between. They’re all here for one thing: that New York slice, no frills, no fusion, just a taste of old-school Flushing. Lucia’s isn’t about the latest toppings or artisanal flair. It’s about consistency, a slice that’s anchored generations. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger, a little moment where you’re biting into history—crust, sauce, cheese, and all.
Great slice. The right amount of cheese and isn't drenched in tomato sauce. Everything sticks when you lift it up and very importantly a firm stance and crisp snap when you bite into the pizza. Right up in the alley to the stuff I had in CT and Boston.
So I just recently paid them a visit and guess what…they still have the exact same formula for their pizza since the first time I’ve been there in 1981. Wow I’ve been a customer for 41 years. The best plain slice of New York pizza ever made. They still have the same map of Flushing hanging up. Be careful of that first bite…will burn the top of your mouth.
Top ten of the NYC pizzerias, thin crust just the right crispness. Always fresh with the stretchy cheese and great sauce. This is a typical NYC pizzeria with the fixed stools in front of the counter. There's always a line, the pizza is always fresh. Every time I go to Flushing I stop at Lucia's. Love it. A pizza place opened down the block, that's a... um, NO!!!
An authentic New York Pizza experience. The owner's passion for pizza and big heart is definitely a major element involved in the magic of the Lucia experience... not to mention, I am confident that any pizza lover is destined to savor every bite. 🫶
I'm from Michigan, and my cousin told me that I have to try the pizza here. I was a bit skeptical about this, and I was totally wrong. The pizza I ordered was a special veggies pizza with cheese, mushroom, tomato, and onions. It was fresh and delicious!! The crust was so thin that it tasted like crackers but, of course, much tastier along with the toppings. I highly recommend this place.
One of the best classic New York Style cheese slice in all the boroughs. perfect balance of sauce to cheese ratio and excellent crust .I would bet money on it!!
This place is a true hole in the wall and intimidating at first as it is so busy and is standing room only. However, the man behind the counter was so friendly and took great care of me and my Dad! He was attentive with all customers who came through the door (and there were a lot of them!). The pizza was fresh and amazing (and inexpensive!), a true NYC pizza experience! There are not many pizza places in Flushing, so definitely check this one out if you are in the area!
Small pizzeria that gives retro vibes of when New York pizza was everything. Absolutely love this place!
Really want a real slice of NY?... Then try Lucia pizza. Authentic NY style slices... Thin the way it should be, great sauce and they use quality cheese as well. Just one of the best pizza spots hands down & I have been to many many pizza spots in NY. The place is very small and you're never getting a slice that has been sitting around. They are constantly putting out fresh pies due to how much traffic they receive. Now this place is as old school as it gets... None of all those specialty slices sitting in a glass case, nope. Just your traditional regular style pie and sicilian pies. They have some toppings that you can get like, pepperoni, sausage, chicken, onion etc... but you're going to have to ask for them. Other than that, like I said just fresh pizza pies never sitting around waiting for someone to eat them. It's you who will be waiting for a fresh pie out the oven and, I highly recommend letting it cool down as to taste the flavors that become intertwined in this great New York pizza slice.
Best pizza iv'e ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked
This is my wife's favorite pizza. We travel up to 2 hours.
Most authentic NYC pizzeria left in the city. Old school goodness.
A classic Flushing nyc pizza place that stood the test of time having been in business for decades.
My mom grew up in this area in the 70s. All my life she’s compared every single pizza to this one, and now I know why 😂 too bad I was full because I would’ve loved to eat a whole pie here.
I've been coming to this pizzeria for more than 30 years. That's how good they are. The taste of their pizza never changes. I believe they make the best pizza in all of the pizzerias in QUEENS. Alway reminds me of growing in Brooklyn the pizza that we used to get after going to church. Brooklyn used to have good pizzerias back in the old days. When pizza was only 50 cents.
Def recommend dining in as, due to constant customer volume, pizza is constantly rolling out of the oven. As result the cheese just melts with the fresh tomato sauce, to deliver that sublime “yum” in your mouth. Def one of my fav pizzeria in queens.
Within these walls you will find a clean and well maintained establishment. On 8)18)23. I was extremely impressed with a warm welcome by all staff members accompanied with smiles. Mr. MIKE, is the boss. This fella is professional, kind and proactive. He expedites your specific order to meet your needs. For example, how you want you pizza heated and which toppings you prefer as well as maybe you will enjoy extra layer of cheese. In that regard, Mr. Mike actively listens to you and proceeds to delegate the order. Now we should also give praise and appreciation to Eddie. This gentleman is the Pizza Preparer. So he knows all of the precise ingredients and when arranged, mixed and prepared methodically together the outcome is quite great. So the remaining diligent workers I associate as the (((3 A's))) are, Arnold, Alex and Alfonso. It is because of these folks that the complete functionality is smooth sailing and Flawless. For the first time ever I ordered my food as warm, not piping hot 🔥. I enjoyed thoroughly not burning the roof of my mouth on scalding cheese. Kindly show your support and grab a slice on the go or stay for a while. I'm certain you'll not regret it.
Authentic New York Slice near the Main St. Metro Station in Flushing? Yes please! Lucia literally has the best Sicilian pizza that you can get in the area, and they even have a plaque from the SJU kids to prove that they are the best. We love ordering the house pie with pepperoni--it lasts a couple of meals, even with my large appetite. A slice is typically enough to stuff a petite Asian female or young children, and two slices usually does it for most people. Just be careful with piling on the toppings, each item will cost extra. The line can get slightly long during the busy hours, but the fresh slice right out of the oven is well worth the wait. If you plan to order a whole pie like us, definitely call ahead because it takes at least 20 minutes for them to bake a whole pie. Lastly, this place is cash only.
A quintessential “Queens Slice”. Gas oven baked, the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce to crispiness. Prices are more than fair and it makes for a great meal on the go. Everything from the regular slices to the Sicilian and beef patty with cheese is good here. I’ve been going here for more than 15 years, and while the face of the block has changed, this joint and its quality has stayed the same. Give this place a visit, the boys running this place are awesome!
A small and popular spot for pizza. Tried both the regular and sciccilian but I prefer the regular as the sciccilian felt dry. There was no queue to order, just go to the front and make sure the guys got your order and they will serve your pizza. Small spot with limited inside seating. Possible to eat at the counter. No restrooms. They take credit cards.
best pizza I wish I had pics but I finish my pizza before I realize it
Love the pizza. It's always packed though. Employees are great.
Best Pizza in the area. This is my family and I’s first stop before taking the 7 train into the city. It is usually our last stop when getting off that same train.
SO RELIEVED that Lucia's is still here! 🎉🎉🎉 I no longer reside in NYC, but I used to frequent this place years ago when GameStop was still next door & DuaneReade was OldNavy. During school days, everybody loved the teachers who ordered Lucia's instead of Domino's or PizzaHut. To newcomers- relax this is a small local shop, bring cash, enjoy that $3.25 plain slice of goodness and be on your way 🍕🍕🍕
We stayed in the Flushing area for close to a week, and in addition to all of the great Chinese, Vietnamese and Japanese restaurants we periodically went to Lucia Pizza. The place was always busy, with people dropping in for a slice or two, or picking up whole pizzas. We would typically order a whole pizza and wait for it to be made, so we were able to observe the whole process of making and cooking a pie. There were never any measuring devices or timers used; this is all about skill and knowledge, and it was amazing to see the care that went into ensuring every single pie was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful, and obviously knew their regular customers. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by for a slice!
Pizza was delicious, but the server ruined my appetite with her attitude & it ticked me off of her lying about not having pepper flakes but was honestly lazy to pack it. otherwise, food was amazing
Back in Flushing and had to pay my respects at Lucia Pizza 🍕—a real Queens legend holding it down since 1962. This is the kind of place that raised generations on proper New York slices. Thin crust, crisp edges, sweet tangy sauce, cheese bubbling like it’s got something to prove. I used to live out here and this spot was mandatory. No trends, no gimmicks, just a regular slice that still hits like a heavyweight champ. Some things don’t need upgrading—just another napkin. Queens classics only.
Great pizza. Took a little longer than quoted for the pie but they were swamped from the blizzard. I wouldn't order the extra cheese again, it's too much.
You want ol school NYC nostalgia pizza 🍕 you come here !! I hadn’t gone here in almost 30 years use to get slices here with my mom when caldor was across the street ! So I decided other day to get a pie to get that feeling and Woww perfect exactly how I remembered it ! Plus they still got that fruit punch machine 🥳which people forget about not me I got 2 large of them they couldn’t believe it I wanted it but I’m a real New Yorker from day 1 I was born . Thank GOD this family business still here ! Get yourself a real NYC slice here or pie whatever and fruit punch from the machine and your day will go great 😌 your welcome !
One of my many friends called Richard has been to this place and ordered two slices of cheese pizza. The food was wonderful, and the service was good. This place is always busy with people ordering other foods, eating, talking, and others. The pizza was wonderful that he enjoyed it.
I've had Lucia pizza twice while visiting Flushing, once through delivery and the other time in person; delivery is definitely not the ideal way to have the pizza from here due to the very long wait time, so I'm choosing to review my in person visit, on my last night in NY no less. Much of what's been said about this place is true, great and generally affordable pizza being sold in tiny store. The service is efficient, you can tell the staff there has been with the place for a long time. I ordered 1 regular slice and 2 pepperoni slices which took ~5 minutes to receive. Of the 3 slices I ordered, I'd say the regular cheese slice is the way to go if you're new to NY style pizza. The cheese is hot and nicely melted, the sauce isn't overpowering, and the bread/crust has a nice crisp to it. Expect a fair amount of grease and to fold your slice because how big they are. While I haven't tried NY's other famous pizza spots, I'm very happy with Lucia being my main impression of this dish here
Lucia is a tiny place with just a half dozen stools to sit, but the pizza here is delicious. The cheese is extremely hot, gooey, and floating on the sauce, but the taste makes it one of my favorite Queens Pizzerias. Just let it cool for a minute. The service is good, and Mike, the main server is always telling great stories. It's my go-to for a quick slice and coke in the downtown Flushing area.
Lucia Pizza in Flushing is absolutely amazing! The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. The pizza was fresh, perfectly baked, and full of flavor — truly some of the best I’ve had. The crust was crisp yet chewy, the sauce was rich and balanced, and the cheese melted beautifully. On top of that, the atmosphere was welcoming and the service was great, making the visit even more enjoyable. If you’re in Flushing, this is a must-visit spot for delicious pizza. 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕
Tiny little intimate pizza spot near Main St in Flushing. First time my sons had been to NY and of course they wanted to try a slice of the famous NY pizza. This place didm't disappoint at all. The cheese, the sauce, the crispy crust, the pepperoni were all on point. Service was fast and mad affordable. Pizza was a hit with my boys and I already knew it was going to be great. Hit them up if in the neighborhood, well worth it.
Update: Price increase. They’ve added tax in the last week instead of having it baked into the price. Two slices are now $7.08, instead of $6.50. So, I guess with tax a single regular slice would be $3.54. I wish they’d just include the tax as before and round up or down to some even amount. Still love their pizza though. Original review: Not sure how I never reviewed Lucia before. As a kid, I’d have a slice every Saturday. My parents would also often get me a slice on their way home from work during my picky eating stage. It tied with Barone for my favorite pizza place growing up. I really love their pizza and could easily have it everyday. Lucia serves the perfect NY-style thin crust pizza. It’s greasy and cheesy, with just the right amount of sauce. My mom absolutely loves their regular slice and their sicilians. Whenever she visits, she wants to order a pie. The house pie is huge and worth it. It takes about 25 minutes to make so order ahead for pickup, or do what I do—place your order in person, then go do your Main Street/Roosevelt shopping until it’s ready. There is no one in my family who doesn’t love them. They’re almost always busy, especially during meal times, when school lets out, etc, but if you’re getting only one or two slices, the wait is usually not long. It’s a real neighborhood joint even with the limited seating. (I’m old enough to remember when it was bigger and they had tables!) The service is friendly. There has only ever been one person working there who (whom?) I didn’t like and would actively avoid if he was taking orders, but thankfully I haven’t seen him in a long while. Everyone else is great, including the guys in the back making the pizzas. Tip: If you like your pizza crispy, like my mom does, just ask. But, you need to eat it immediately. If you get it to-go, it will lose that crispness. Better to crisp it yourself when you get home on a flat pan. It’s really actually better when you do it yourself at home. Sadly, they don’t offer individual white slices, but you can buy a white pie and it’ll be delicious. You can get it with toppings like jalapeños, onions, mushrooms, and peppers. Yum!
The best pizza! This is a true neighborhood gem! It has been here many years, it’s great to see some original businesses still around. Fresh, delicious and hot out the oven. Highly recommend for slice or a pie. Great, amazing flavor and all toppings available. Staff is also friendly and professional. 10/10 stars!
Don't look down on something just because it's cheap. Every time I used the subway, the store was always crowded with people. I heard from someone I already knew that this place was delicious, but there was always a long waiting line to get into the store, so I gave up. It was a rainy day. Maybe it was because of the weather, but there were few people. I was finally able to get my hands on this pizza. Many people ordered slice pizza, but I ordered a large whole pizza and brought it home. They bake it and serve it right in the open kitchen where you can watch it being made. I ordered a large pizza and waited about 20 minutes. Plain pizza is the standard here, and there is an additional charge for each topping added. I think it was about $24 with the pepperoni added. Red pepper powder, cheese, special sauce, and even disposable plates are provided. Even though it was busy, the friendly staff responded and my mood improved. The pizza was savory and delicious. It felt a little salty for my taste, but my son said it was delicious. All American food is too salty for my taste. Haha
One of the best local pizza joints in the area. The slices are classic NYC thin crust style with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The key may be that it's super busy so fresh pies are coming out of the oven all the time ! A hidden gem that I always get are the garlic knots. Even though it's usually standing room only the service is friendly.
Was looking for gourmet pizza in the area. Here's what we ordered: - Sicilian slice: quite well done. Exactly what we wanted - Vegetable slice: hefty on the veggies in an enjoyable way - Margherita Slice: lovely - Penne alla Vodka slice: easily the favorite of the night - Grandma slice: still don't know what this even is but so well received - BBQ chicken slice: this was the one we had the most difficulty with. Honestly, it's probably because we don't love BBQ sauce but it is a hefty amount of BBQ chicken - Meat lover's pinwheel: a lovely spin of various meats around dough. With a dipping sauce Overall, this place met our expectations for gourmet pizza and we were super pleased. I did ask for extra parm/sauce, which it did not come with, so was a bit of a bummer. But overall, quite a lovely place nearby for $4.5-6 slices if you want a variety of pizzas! I will say, not sure if it it was from Uber Eats or the restaurant itself, it took us 1.5 hours longer than anticipated for our delivery to be made.
This place is pretty legit if you just want a slice of plain cheese pizza. Pretty decent slice size and the pizza has a good amount of cheese. Crust texture and tomato sauce was on point. Only drawback that gets me from not coming back as often as I would like would be the price. May be I got spoiled by those $1 slice of cheese pizza in Manhattan from 2 Bros. Hard to rate this place for service since it seems to be a fast pace ordering style pizza joint so speak up with your order or you will be forgotten.
Regular slice $2.50 Pepperoni slice $3.15 One of the last original establishments in Flushing, Main Street before everything changed (neither good nor bad). During the rush the pies are moving insanely fast and come out scorching hot which results in mouths/gums burning if you cannot resist the temptation. Nice thin crust but not a cracker though the sauce is a little on the sweeter side. Seating is limited so most likely you will have to stand around waiting for the 8 seater counter to open up or just opt for the standing section. If you want something more than pizza, definitely go for the chicken roll 👌🏾
I was excited to see how crowded this place was cuz it would mean that it was gonna be some damn good pizza!! I could barely get in, that's how crowded it was!! I ordered through the phone beforehand so I was able to get in an out of there fairly quickly. Just note that they would need 30 minutes to make the pizza. The pizza itself is extremely large and definitely a solid pie. Visually looks great and the same goes with the taste! There are some things that I wish could have been better though. The crust was more crunchy than crispy and the underside of the pizza was not as crispy as I hoped for. This is still a very good slice given that they don't use a traditional brick oven. If you're looking to grab a bite of pizza, I definitely recommend it!! — 01/10/25
Best pizza in queens. Always hits the spot honestly. However sometimes service can be bad, for example last time I called to ask for delivery and they said they csnt go that far and before I even had the chance to reply and say no worries have a goodnight, I got hung up on. I completely understand if delivery service isn’t able to go that far (although I’m 0.8 miles away) but a thanj you or you’re welcome is always nice to hear instead of js getting the phone hanged up. BUT PIZZA COMPENSATES FOR BAD SERVICE 100 percent
Pretty good New York Style pizza if you are on this side of Queens and don't want to go all the to the city for some.
I hear this everyday walking past Lucia's. "There's pizza in Chinatown?" Are you in a Flushing hotel searching "pizza in Flushing"? Sometimes you've had enough of Asian food, or your flight was diverted/cancelled, and you're "stuck" in Flushing, and just can't eat one more dumpling. Go to Lucia's! Is it the best NYC pizza? NO. Is it bad pizza? Far from it. Is it a tourist trap? NO! If you can't get to Sunnyside for arguably the best pizza in Queens then Lucia's is it. We grab a slice often. Prices fair, taste is always "goooood" to "very good". Service is perfect.
Small pizza shop well located and it can get pretty busy/crowded. Not a big fan of NY-style pizza, but it was good. Possibly one of the best option in the area.
Just started working in the area decided to get a slice at lunch. Tasted good but the sauce was a bit too saucy I lifted the slice up and instantly cheese and sauce started sliding off. Not sure if it needed more cooking time but was a bit disappointed in the structural integrity of the slice. Don’t get me wrong it tasted good but I had to use both my hands and may even recommend a fork when eating this pizza. Again not sure if it needed more cooking time because I see the other slices on these reviews and they look like they have better structural integrity. Just wasn’t prepared for a sloppy yet tasty slice of pizza for lunch.
My favorite no thrills pizza spot in Flushing. Sometimes you just want a slice , nothing more. This place doesn't disappoint. Can get a quick slice in a few minutes. Not the best pizza in NYC but a decent slice considering you are in Chinese heavy Flushing. Slices run about $3 each. Pretty good pizza slice.
This place used to have a solid slice back in the day. Unfortunately its been gradually deteriorating in quality over the years. Prior to the pandemic I would grab a slice from here quite frequently, maybe once a month. In the last couple of years I've tried to frequent it again but the regular slice just isn't the same anymore. I'm not sure what's changed, whether the staff, quality of ingredients or what the issue is exactly. The one good thing is they haven't jacked up their prices like everywhere else. Its just gone up to $3.25 a slice from $3. But I suppose the compromise has been the quality. The space itself is pretty tiny, maybe 3-4 people can sit comfortably but beyond that it gets cramped. I hope they can turn in around and it goes back to the dependable classic New York slice spot it used to be.
It's was pizza. Can't complain too much. It's definitely worse than champion pizza down the street, but it's also much cheaper. So it kinda depends what you're in the mood for. Either way it's good for a quick bite
My experience was flawed due to an extensive bus delay back to my place so I can't speak fairly for a cooled off pizza, but it was fine. Very little char underneath.
They should remove their “Best Pizza in Town” sign from their front because it’s not even the best pizza on their block. $3.75 for a public high school tasting slice. The cheese smelled and tasted cheap, it was overly greased, and I waited an extremely long time for 5 slices + a hero. All the other reviewers have probably never tasted pizza outside of this place. Very disappointed
Pizza used to be good, the past 3 trips I've made though have been so horrendous I'm probably done with this place. Most recently I got a plain slice and a Sicilian but the plain slice literally collapsed in half as soon as I picked it up. I've never experienced a boneless pizza before.. I had to ask for a fork to literally eat the first half.. the Sicilian wasn't even heated enough. I'm convinced in order to keep up with the amount of people coming in they just rush out products while sacrificing quality. It really used to be good, a shame now.
I'm disabled and the delivery man ignored my orders to bring the food downstairs so it took me 15 minutes to get up the stairs. They came 20 minutes late, they forgot my beef patty but remembered to charge me for it and gave me an eggplant hero burnt beyond recognition. I will never order from here again and i recommend you do the same.
Waited 20 minutes after I paid, still didn’t get one plain slice. Apparently they fulfill delivery orders first rather than in store customers, regardless of who came first, cause delivery is more money. I got a refund and went to champion pizza instead, got 2 slices there for $5 fresh, crispy, and in my hands in less than 2 minutes. I would skip Lucia and go to champion instead. Very bad vibes at Lucia with claustrophobia and long wait time.
I ordered for delivery and both times they did not delivered the pizza until almost two hours later When i called they had me on hold for 23 min and the last time kept putting me on hold and hanging up They may have good pizza but they do not know how to run a business If they are that busy they should hire extra help and be more organized and Not treat their customers so poorly
Let me start by saying i am a huge Lucia fan. ive been going there since i was a kid. i tried to call the store to resolve this but this is a last resort. i ordered on uber eats to my store in a mall nearby. Lucia was using their own delivery people (i saved their numbers) and not ubers. The delivery guy called me after the order was already 20 mins late to meet him in front of the mall. i told him i couldn’t leave the store and he had to come here. he told me he would leave it in the mall lobby and to come get it. and then hung up on me. then he left a pic (attached) of the food in the middle of mall lobby. i called to speak to a manager and they kept hanging up on me. this was by far the worst experience i have ever had with any delivery. im still shocked how rude the staff at lucia was. i have this all documented.
The pizza was absolutely amazing & delicious but had to reheat it because for the 3rd time it took from 1hr 30min to 2hr delivery worst delivery ever
I live 3 blocks away from this pizzeria and it literally took these people 3 hours to deliver my pizza. I called multiple times and this chick kept leaving me on hold and ignoring my phone calls.... THANK YOU FOR THE EXCELLENT SERVICE !!!!!
Absolutely the slowest delivery in all of NY & I'm sure the owner is aware of it, which means he doesn't care to hire more employees & the word is out. DONT ORDER DELIVERY EVER !! Unless you want to wait 2hrs
The delivery service is the worst ever. 2 hours to deliver to an address that’s about 10 mins away and you call 3 times to see what’s going on for them to just say they are busy and act like they just don’t care. This is highly offensive to me since I’ve been a customer for a long time. Very disappointing
Ordered for delivery nearly took 2hrs & 30 minutes for delivery an absolute new record on how horrible they’re delivery and in-house staff and management is because if they really cared about there customers they would’ve handled this delivery problem years ago as this has seem to be an issue for over a year as I’ve heard and seen from other customers and reviewers.
Don’t order a pie , they will take along time. Just order 12 slices the crew is only fast with slices I waited 45 minutes for a pie. Deeply disappointed. I have to say goodbye to this spot. Plus, they cut the pie up like they were Chucky Cheese. These guys don’t follow directions well.
