Cousins BBQ Fort Worth Reviews
Great bbq spot, love them weekly specials
This place is amazing! After visiting the Ft. Worth botanical gardens, I decided to try out one more BBQ place before we travelled to our next stop. We got there right as they opened, thus beating the crowd. We ordered the Three Meat choice which included 3 slices of brisket, 2 pork ribs and 1 german sausage. We got two sides with that but we wanted to try more so we had coleslaw (of course), collard greens, their creamed corn, and potato salad. All were wonderful. The slaw was especially good. Now, the meats: brisket was tender and very flavorful, the ribs were meaty and tasty, and my wife (the sausage savant) thought the sausage was fabulous. Great service at the order counter (it’s a walk-up, order and take to your table place). Friendly and upbeat. Clean and neat. Great photos and illustrations all over the walls made for some perfect atmosphere. We highly recommend this place!
The 3 meat combo has been my favorite choice for decades! Top it off with the sauce, onions, pickles, and peppers! Don't forget the Peach cobbler for dessert! It was my Dad's favorite also. When he passed away, we ordered enough for all of us to enjoy his favorite meal after the service.
The all you can is a great bargin for this wonderful food. I sometimes can not order more meat, because I get full but just getting the extra toast or an additional side makes it a value. We always get great and friendly service. We drive up from Waxahachie to enjoy this BBQ
Their moist brisket is absolutely, absolutely hands down the best brisket I've ever tasted. Not to say everything else wasn't good because everything else was incredibly good. With their all you can meat meal (endless meat and sides), this is the place to take your teenagers. Oh and a frozen goblet of shiner? Don't mind if I do. I'd take pictures but I was too busy devouring my food.
🔥 Cousin BBQ – A Must-Stop Spot! 🔥 I had the 3-meat plate and wow—more than enough to satisfy and still had leftovers for later. Every bite was delicious, seriously. The brisket, ribs, and sausage were smoky, tender, and packed with flavor. The folks running the place? Super friendly and welcoming. You can tell they care about the food and the people walking through the door. Whether you're passing through or planning a meal stop, Cousin BBQ is absolutely worth it. Great portions, great vibes, and just plain great BBQ.
I'm truly a BBQ foodie, I have traveled throughout the country from the State Fair to BBQ fairs trying as much smoked meats as possible. From local restaurants throughout Texas, cousins happen to be one of my favorite BBQ places. Love all the smoked meats! The greens are so tasty, loaded baked potatoes is good too. I also love the weekly specials. Wednesday buy one dinner and get one free. One, two or three meats. I have also experienced all you can eat BBQ dine in. Delicious I know Texas has so many BBQ places to explore and experience but I'm positive with the proof that my taste buds are sure cousins will not disappoint you.
I do not review often but I feel I must review this today. Everything was great but this piece of pecan pie that we shared was hands down the best pecan pie we have ever had. Ever. (And we both are native to Fort Worth therefore we are pecan pie veterans.) It was wrapped tight in cellophane and it was the only 1 in a basket with some cookies before the cash register. It had cinnamon and I could taste pecan praline in it as well. I cannot believe there is no mention of it already- I am calling tomorrow to see if I can purchase a pie. If you go, try it. It was fabulous.
Jocelyn and her manager gave me a free potato after I dropped mine on the floor they are good people very good food as well best barbecue in Fort Worth buy one get one free on Tuesday can’t beat that very good price and great service and the chorizo, macaroni balls are the best try them when u come and don’t forget to Tip the kind and caring people at cousins barbecue
One of the 2013 Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ Joints, which vanished from the list in 2017 and did not reappear in 2021. This was our 93rd 'cue stop in the Lone Star state, and the 383rd nationwide. We found the 'cue here to be very good; indeed, we would rate it higher than what is on offer at over a dozen of the places on TMM's list. The menu here offers real strength from top to bottom. $46.02 purchased a brisket and jalapeno cheddar sausage sandwich with house made fries, a Bev's smokehouse salad top with sliced brisket, a second side of Texas street corn, and a banana pudding. The salad was huge, fresh, and topped with brisket that was well smoked, with terrific bark; it was moist and tender even at five in the afternoon. The sausage also proved top notch, with good snap and sharp flavor. Both the fries and the street corn were excellent, and the banana pudding was so good that we went back and got a second order to go. We call this “destination 'cue,” and we strongly recommend that our fellow 'cue fanatics give it a try.
What a great place! Atmosphere is perfect and that smoky BBQ smell just makes your mouth water the moment you walk in. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I came in for brisket but when I heard about the new Smokey Stuffed Burger I had to try it and it didn’t disappoint! Everything is fresh, made in house and delicious. Don’t pass this place up!
Great food and atmosphere, steeeeeep prices. "Sweet" style beans were not as good as expected, more spicy than anything. Sauce portions provided were very small. Highly recommend the banana cream pie
Sliced brisket has always been good ever time I ate there. Unfortunately, however, I love mac & cheese—especially with bbq. But Cousins mac & cheese has ALWAYS, since it first opened, been watery with absolutely no flavor. It’s horrible. Not because it tastes so bad; but, horrible because there’s no taste at all. Since cousins is riding around the corner. From my house, I used to ride my bike up there. When I got older, I complained. They acted like I was so crazy. So I wanted it so badly to go to Walmart deli and order a pound of their mac & cheese, and take it there and let them compare. Even let their customers compare. And I guarantee you ever get her in that place or choose the Walmart mac & cheese. And that’s sad. Coming from a barbecue grill. I’m sorry that I rambled on about a side dish. But mac & cheese is a stable with a barbecue brisket sandwich. In conclusion, the place is very clean to help is very nice and polite. The brisket is delicious. But the mac & cheese just throws everything off—in my very experienced opinion with Cousins. Like I’ve said, I’ve been there hundreds of time probably thousands. And they just need to do something about their mac & cheese. It’s THAT bad. And again, I don’t mean, rotten or taste bad; I just mean, there’s no taste at all to the mac & cheese no cheese flavor no flavor of any kind. If they just go down to Walmart by 20 to 30 pounds/day from the deli and serve it there. (Perhaps with their own little seasoning on it. Nothing serious just something like a little Tony Chachere’s Cajun seasoning I bet the macaroni and cheese sales would triple After people started tasting it.
Had a meeting with a group of people, concerning the missing trio from Fort Worth and decided the original Cousins location would be a great place to have it. There was about 16 of us and everyone enjoyed their bbq. It was a great meal and Cousins was conducive to having a productive meeting. This is the original Cousins location that I personally ate at since 1983, right after Boots opened the doors.
I was a bit disappointed. I’m not sure if ownership has changed but the taste of the food was just ok. It used to be well seasoned and what I had my last 2 visits was much less. I did the All you can meat for 2, with 2 drinks and 2 desserts at $77.00. The desserts tasted like they were left out and maybe absorbed the odor of the room they were in. Moist brisket was dry. And gnats were flying around the prepared food behind the counter and flying on your food at your table
Unfortunately, I visited the cousins at the airport Fort Worth and the greens was so watery no flavor you barely had any greens in the container! The coleslaw was extremely tart wasn’t very good at all. The best thing I had was the brisket.. the barbecue meat potato was really good but because it says 1 pound don’t think you can share it. It’s 1 pound including the fixings on top of it.. I thought it was a 1 pound potato, and then you add the fixings on top of it. The sliced brisket is the best thing on the menu. I would give the actual restaurant a chance .
So they have this BOGO (buy one get one) on certain days but if you don’t tip they’ll give you THE nastiest, most unappetizing GO they can find as a penalty. I guess they say if you don’t tip you won’t get a quality freebie haha Atmosphere is nice and usually clean even when busy. Staff is normally pleasant as well except for this one guy that cuts the meat. He’s a seemingly wicked and very cold individual. I don’t recommend if this evil one is there. I’ll have to grab his name one day and add it to this review. Decent barbecue by the way.
Tried for the first time it was not to my liking. The chicken was undercooked and very light completed and the brisket wasn’t tender. I could barely taste any smoke and seasoning. The customer service was great but bbq is just not to my liking here
