Sapalta Himrod Reviews
Cannot rave enough about this place!! Sitting outside on the patio leaving this review because of how fantastic it was. The atmosphere is incredibly quaint and cozy, truly a lakeside hideaway. What a hidden gem! We want to become regulars here. The food was artisan, and yet approachable. The seasonal flavors and expert plating were amazing. The dishes we had were absolutely outstanding and it’s clear that quality ingredients are prioritized in the makings of the dish. Their wine list was unique and had fantastic options, and some really great reds on it. The service was excellent, I was chilly and they even wheeled over a heater without me asking! Truly such a charming and lovely place. We absolutely will be back!! Thank you all!
Absolutely lovely experience. We came for my birthday and got the charcuterie board, cocktail flight, transfusion cocktail, special salad with scallops, burger and the special dessert. No complaints about any of the food. The ambiance was on point for outdoor dining and the service by Khloe was great. I highly recommend for a nice farm to table experience. :)
Nothing but great things to say about this restaurant! The owner and staff were all amazing and friendly. The items to choose from were spectacular and all delicious (Had a great mocktail selection for the pregnant ladies). Atmosphere was relaxing and quaint. Overall, a fantastic experience!
I just found this photo from our 2025 FLX summer vacation and wrote this to my wife: "Maybe it was the beauty of the moment; the witty conversation, the beautiful setting, your gorgeous eyes, the delicious food, the perfect service and the great drinks. This was one of the most relaxed wonderful meals I can recall. Thank you!"
Wow. This must be the most impressive meal in the Seneca Lake area. The drinks were thoughtfully crafted, the food remarkably prepared and flavorful (including dessert!), and the service rivaled the most considerate found in any NYC establishment. Our server Tori was especially helpful, attentive and insightful with her drink and meal recommendations. (And all of that without even mentioning the unbeatable lakeside views!) We will certainly return here every time we’re in the area from now on!
Very nice upscale meal! Scallops were amazing as was everything including the soup, salad and bread!! Great for a date night or special night out! Highly recommended! Update from my Birthday dinner in 2025. Still excellent. Limited menu but what we had was great! Crab cake, steak and burgers were all great as were the deserts!
We had a nice dinner looking over the water. Food portions are good, but don’t expect to get full off one item. The Steak and Potatoes were excellent:)
Fantastic food at a fair price, definitely get a meal here. Got eggs benedict that was absolutely phenomenal! Great tuna tar tar, and wonderful cocktails too! Everyone was so nice, couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Everything from start to finish was perfect. Our waitress, Alex, was top notch and she had awesome recommendations for us. Every single thing we ate was so fresh and prepared with so much care. The scallop dish really shined, but the Moroccan shrimp and steak were also amazing. Do yourself a favor and get the potatoes. We also shared the pea shoot salad and crab bisque which were divine.
Wonderful service and lovely location. I ordered the filet that was delicious and cooked perfectly. They had local beer and wines that were an excellent addition to our meal. Highly recommend and would come back when in the area. Don't hesitate to make your reservation now! 😀
Great service and excellent food. Scallop was masterfully done. The crab chowder was very tasty. Loved the cracker with eggplant dip. Highly recommend the outdoors on a nice day since you're able to see Seneca lake.
Came upon this hidden gem looking for a place to have brunch, sat outside and got to enjoy some coffee and lake views. Quite nice really.
(updated review 7-3-25) Always had excellent food options at Sapalta but this evening they had only 5 entrees and one was a burger and one was korean buns (vegetable bao) - so not really the same as we have seen usually which is a 9 entrees with lots of options. Coupled with this was a loud band playing outside where we were eating and we had to speak at very loud levels to hear each other at dinner. Will wait and see if the menu improves before returning. Cocktails and appetizers were excellent as always. (review from 2 years back) An excellent menu of salads and appetizers and entres. Local and fresh. Seafood and steaks and other options. Great combinations of greens and cheeses and other ingredients. Beautiful venue. Nice outdoor dining and indoor decor. Wait staff were attentive.
Sapalta has become one of my favorites in the US. It has the friendliest service, a beautiful scenery, top-notch bartender, and the food, oh, the food. Yes, the food! This is a must-go when you're in the Finger Lakes (Seneca, to be exact). My wife and I were lucky enough to be staying at Plum Point Lodge when we are here so our room was only several feet away. It very romantic with great live music and the lake backdrop. Our appetizers: Hummus platter and a bread plate. Both fresh made. Ninety percent of the menu is locally sourced and they list the farms and sources. I had the pan-seared trout and it was perfectly seasoned and balanced with the rice. My wife had the gnocchi with meatballs. Fluffy and light gnocchi and delicious meatballs. Dessert was a tart and a tartlet. Served with the freshest fruit and prepared just sweet enough without going over the top (with sugar). Light enough to want another (take it home for later). Our drinks were ready quickly and made with care and quality products. The owner even came over to our table and greeted us, making sure we were satisfied with everything. This made us feel right at home and like our satisfaction truly mattered. Do yourself and someone you care about the favor of enjoying Sapalta together. We'll be back here ASAP!
The food and service at Sapalta were wonderful! It was great to know that we had options for breakfast and dinner while on our honeymoon. My husband is a chef and he was very pleased with the quality and taste of the food. We will definitely eat here again if we have the chance to visit for an anniversary trip!
Highly recommend this amazing restaurant on the lake. The host sat us earlier than our reservation. Very polite, friendly and professional server. She was very knowledgeable regarding the specials and menu. The food is incredibly delicious paired with some great NY wines. Please stop and see the team here. Oh and BTW we own a restaurant as well and we can tell you they do it right here and you are in for a real treat.
It has been a while since I have rated a new restaurant.. but this one was worth dusting off my keys for. The drive up is through a beautiful but subdued section of woods that leaves completely unprepared for the amazing view that opens up before you as you pull into the *Inn* (should potentially be classified as a resort IMO) that houses this delightful establishment. The surprises didn't stop there. The staff was amazingly friendly, and even knew who we where from our reservation alone (#notjustareservation). The dinner menu was small but as they say, dynamite comes in small packages and this food is a flavor explosion that did not disappoint. My wife ordered the Trout and risotto, which I believe was caught in the stream near by, and she was blown away. The seer on the fish alone could have made the dish amazing, but it was nothing more then a subtle accent to a breathtaking dish. On top of that the food wasn't the only thing that they take so seriously! The cocktails: to die for.. the dessert: divine.. the service: amazingly delightful. To sum it up: no matter if you are looking for a high class dinner, or a first break in 3 years without your kid (guess our purpose) you cannot pick a better place then Sapalta.
Sapalta is the restaurant attached to Pulm Point Lodge (which also looks super cute!). Very friendly staff, yummy food and beautiful view of the water. They have outdoor seating patio and small bar inside of restaurant. Breakfast menu wasn’t super big but offered someone for everyone. Frittata was very flavorful! Definitely would recommend.
Beautiful restaurant with beautiful views. Limited menu, but we got 3 different dishes and they were all fantastic. Server needed some help, she seemed overwhelmed
This restaurant is fabulous! The location is amazing with a great view! The food was delicious. Service was friendly and helpful! The pier by the restaurant is a nice place to stroll by. I highly recommend this place when in the Finger Lakes area!
Stuffed Salmon had maybe 3 oz Salmon. Lots of cabbage. Sauce was good.
We went for mother's day dinner. The food was delicious, well presented. The wait staff were friendly. A quiet, quant place to eat. I would highly recommend.
Had THE best Black Pepper Burger, but the real highlight was the cocktail flight, each with a different berry, edible flower, and liquor.
Sapalta is the finest Lakeside spot you could hope to experience! Awesome Live Music, resort vibe, can’t lose! World class 🌎
Beautiful outdoor dining area on the west side of Seneca Lake, overlooking some old cottonwoods and the water. Make a reservation and be prepared to get what you pay for. My group shared the trout spread appetizer with seedy crackers, bread, garlic spread and capers. The entree I ordered was the portobello mushroom "steak" with a white bean cake and risotto, which they were able to make dairy free (veg friendly). The mushroom was probably the most delicious portobello I've ever had. Wonderful meal, sweet location, fine service.
One of my favorite and most beautiful, relaxing lake side place for dining and stay. Prefect place for date night and celebrations. Kids friendly!
A farm to table restaraunt with spectacular lakeside views. We had excellent service and the food was very good. We were lucky enough to get a table outside and enjoy the lakeside views. We will be going back
This entire place is a bucket-list experience! From the lodging to the restaurant, everything is 5 stars. Located conveniently from wineries and attractions as well. Also has one of the best sunrises in the FLX!
Had a delicious brunch here, homemade donuts were delicious, perfectly powdered/glazed, and yeasty. The shashuka and Nashville chicken sandwich were delish, but the star of the lineup for me were the pancakes. I'll be dreaming about those for a while to come! Beautiful setting and outdoor dining option. Would highly recommend :)
Family and I attended here for dinner on 05-31-2025. My overall experience was delightful! Our waitress was super nice and attentive. I ordered their “Popcorn (something) burger,” best burger I’ve had. And also had their “Walnut Old Fashioned,” very unique and tasteful!!! The view from the restaurant is super beautiful, the atmosphere is super chill. My family and I had a tasteful experience with a great view!!!
This farm-to-table restaurant was excellent. We had the wild mushroom soup and stuffed salmon for dinner in addition to the eggs benedict and peppercorn burger for lunch. What a wonderful experience.
This is such a pretty restaurant with lake views! The food was delicious and would highly recommend the butchers steak if you’re into red meat. The spicy chicken sandwich was good but nothing too special. The bacon/onion pie was delicious and appetizing and it came with a 2oz Riesling which was so refreshing! The desserts were delicious too, the earl grey crème brûlée had a great tea flavor. The affogato went super well with the doughnuts but the doughnuts themselves were just okay.
Beautiful place to have dinner. Like other reviews mentioned, service wasn’t the quickest and the food was ok/good, but nothing to rave about. Given the location it brought it up to 4 stars from 3. I typically don’t like to be critical but this place could be sooo much better if they buttoned up the service and worked on their food options and flavoring. Will try again in a year or two but no urge to go back anytime sooner than that. UPDATE: We came back a year later and everything was much better! We met the owner, she was delightful. The food and service was much better and they even spoiled our black lab. Highly recommended
This was place was almost perfect! Went here for dinner had ate on the patio. The view of the lake is excellent. We started with the sheldrake moon appetizer. It was phenomenal! My wife had the pork chop and I had the swordfish special. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and had a great char flavor. The swordfish was good, but not great. Half of it was over cooked and a bit dry, while the other half was juicy and tasted great. Dessert was very tasty as well.
Went here for dinner over Memorial Day weekend. First the atmosphere was great. We sat outside on the deck and had a fabulous view. Next, the service was pretty lacking. They were definitely understaffed. We were very patient with all of the servers. However, when it comes to the point where I brought up before we ordered any food that I have severe peanut/tree nut allergy and then was brought walnut bread, it was very astounding and rude. The waitress proceeded to ask why it had to be taken away since my boyfriend was not allergic. Not sure what that was about, but it was disrespectful and upsetting. Once I got over that and it was taken care of, the food was actually amazing. We had the Trout spread which was to die for. I had the gnocchi which was also to die for. The wine list and cocktails were outstanding, as well. Overall, a few hiccups but I would come here again.
Excellent location with astonishing view of the lake. Outdoor seating was perfect for summer nights. Attentive servers, innovative cocktails, and tasty appetisers and main dishes. Other than a weirdly bouncy tiramisu, everything was great.
We had a lovely evening at Sapalta. We made reservations in advance for seating outside. The view is beautiful. Our server Sue was wonderful and kind. She explained that service was going a little slow and some items on the menu were sold out. My husband and I were on a small getaway so we didn’t mind sitting, talking and enjoying our drinks and each others company. Our food was delicious. And the desserts ? Amazing! Like most restaurants we understood that they are also experiencing a lack in dedicated help but those that served us were able to make up for that. Wonderful people doing their best to give us a wonderful meal.
Our server Beth was excellent- very accommodating to our needs with 3 dogs. She was the BEST! Don’t let anyone dim your light!
Food was very good, but the menu was rather limited. Service was a little on the slow side. It isn't open every day, so check on that. We walked right in...not sure if it's always so readily available.
Atmosphere was delightful - we sat outside on the patio and the staff was very welcoming of our doggie. Food was delicious particularly the watermelon plum gazpacho, but we were a little disappointed in the green goddess scallops - just lettuce and scallops, definitely not a main meal. But dessert was also fabulous so would def come back and try different entrees.
Went here after a day of visiting nearby wineries. The food was a bit hit or miss, with my chicken dish being lovely, but other people in my group being lackluster about the food. The service wasn't great; the waitress was very distracted and rushed and not particularly pleasant. However, the views and ambiance was serene and lovely.
This place has a great view and people are nice who work here. The food is massively overpriced and we live in a big city with high end restaurants and are used to that. I had a scallop salad with 5 small scallops and a small bed of lettuce with stale croutons that cost $34. No sides or bread or anything. All the rest of the food was mediocre. Unfortunate because the view is great from here.
I would venture to say this may have been the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was Maddie and she was very friendly, prompt and knowledgeable of the menu. She made an excellent suggestion to try the Bison. Our meals were excellent, the meat was so tender it almost melted in your mouth, I’ve never had bison taste like that. They also had live music with a great sound. We are staying at the hotel and this was such a bonus. Excellent farm to table restaurant! Edit: three years later I went back excited to eat at my favorite restaurant and was very disappointed. Service was amazing just as before but man did the food take a nose dive. Not even close to the experience I had 3 years ago. The vibe, music and service were perfect though so I would go back and just get drinks.
The food was innovative, we liked the effort and the farm to table idea. The flavor was lacking given the upscale price. Salmon wrapped in cabbage was a good idea but a bit insipid, though the tuna tartare was nice. Our main server Megan was attentive and pleasant! I think the younger helpers who seated us needed more supervision. Gen Z stares, no greetings. It was 90 degrees out: they wanted to seat us in the only table in full sun, though we were the only diners there at that time.
I had high hopes walking into Sapalta at Plum Point Losge, especially with the cozy atmosphere and promising menu. Our experience started on a good note—drinks and appetizers arrived quickly, and the staff was friendly and attentive at first. Unfortunately, things took a disappointing turn when it came to the main course. From the time we were seated, it took a full 90 minutes to receive our entrées. This was surprising, considering the restaurant was only about half full and the menu featured just five main course options. There didn’t appear to be any clear reason for the delay, and we weren’t given much explanation or updates as time dragged on. When the food finally did arrive, it was decent—but by then, the frustration had overshadowed the flavors. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when you’ve been waiting that long with no communication. I understand that kitchens get backed up sometimes, but for a restaurant of this size and with a limited menu, that kind of delay is hard to justify. Hopefully, they can work out the kinks in their timing, because there’s potential here—but as it stands, it’s not an experience I’d rush to repeat.
We were here a couple years ago, and it was such a better experience than our most recent visit last week. I had been dying to go back, because during our first visit the food AND atmosphere were both incredible! This time - the food was very disappointing. My french fries seemed frozen, and my fiance's ribeye was 90% fat. My crab cakes were decent, but nothing special. For the prices that they charge, that should not be the case. Our waitress also seemed like she was new, and didn't really know the menu at all. I asked for a couple substitutions based on other things that I saw listed on other menu items, and her response both times was "I don't know if we have that". I pointed out that they did in fact have those items, and they did happily substitute for me. I really wanted to love this place again, because the atmosphere and location is absolutely spectacular.
Well not impressed. Very limited menu with many sandwhiches ..The chicken sandwich had a burnt bun and the pickle was a raw cucumber. Mayo was non existent.. the salmon stuffed cabbage was very bland. The aoli on it was the same. Disappointing. MY husband planned it for my big birthday. He felt bad. Was it bc they had a rehearsal dinner and wedding weekend. It's a pretty spot on the lake but the food is not Then we had creme brulee and the carmelized sugar crust was burnt. I complained to waitress hoping it would be removed from bill but all she said was yeah sometimes get heavy handed with torch... I'll let them know..no doubt the chef. Not a spot I'll return to
If you are thinking of going here based on the good reviews, DON’T. Sometime not too long ago their whole kitchen staff, chef included, left and now the food is inedible. I wish we knew this before taking our entire family!! We went on Friday for what we expected to be a nice dinner, and only 2 out of 9 of us liked their meal. I am not exaggerating when I say the cauliflower steak with couscous and gremolade was the worst thing I’ve ever been served at a restaurant. I truly could not believe they would serve that to anyone. It was like eating a whole plate of raw garlic. And I love garlic, but this was disgusting. The cauliflower wasn’t seasoned at all, everything was dry…my sister ordered the chicken dish which cost over $30 and was served the TINIEST piece of chicken. The waiter said nothing when he gave it to her, but then when he came around again she asked about it, at which point he said “oh yeah, the chef is making you another piece right now” …?? Which was very strange, and then the second piece of chicken was only slightly bigger and it was dry. My brother ordered the ribeye medium rare and it was served almost entirely well done. We complained and they said they could give us a free dessert…😒 The only people who liked their meals were the kids, who ordered chicken tenders and fries (hard to mess that up…) and my Dad, who ordered gnocchi in tomato sauce (also hard to mess up, but I wouldn’t put it past this place). We only found out that the whole kitchen staff and chef had changed when we got back to our bed and breakfast and they asked where we went to dinner, and we told them how disappointed we were. DON’T GO HERE!! Overpriced, horrible tasting food.
This was our group’s second visit with your establishment. Last year was amazing as to why we returned this year. Two of us ordered Steak at 55 dollars per plate and it was so heavily seasoned with pepper you couldn’t enjoy the steak. We ordered three dessert to go and two of them where supposed to be Tiramisu and was given the wrong dessert that ended up in the garbage. Very disappointed for the cost of our dinner.
Totally disappointing, made reservation couple weeks prior, had to confirmed it the day before, showed up last night, learned restaurant not open, was told they sent me email in the morning, a phone call or text would have been more appropriate. They were unapologetic and bit rude, blaming Open Table for not adjusting to their new “winter hours”, seems to me restaurant personnel should check that Open Table has made the adjustment. Interestingly their web site indicates that it is available “daily 4 to 9”. So they haven’t even changed their own web site, can’t blame that on anybody else. So at 7pm we were left with no place to eat as other local places were booked. They don’t deserve our future business.
