Apola Gyro Grill receives mixed reviews. Many customers praise the authentic Greek gyros, especially with fries, and find the prices incredible. However, some experienced dry chicken, slow service, and issues with the soda machine. Staff friendliness is noted.
Tip: Authentic gyros are a must-try, especially if you're looking for Greek food. Be aware that service might be slow.
Great customer service. Fries very airy and delicious. Ordered the beef and lamb gyro pita, very flavorful. Also, ordered a cheesecake very creamy and delicious. Clean atmosphere. Will return again to try the Bowls.
Greek Style Chipotle! This place caught me by surprise, and we really did not have the intention of going here but came as a "last minute" plan type meal. Thankfully, I did stumble upon this place, and the food is great. You get quite a lot of food for the price you pay and also some good quality food! You can see the meat being cooked daily! Highly recommend the beef and lamb or the chicken! They also have some other options, like the Fire Fries, and I would highly recommend those or the Feta Fries because they have some good flavors and sauces that compliment their Greek seasonings and sauces! The garlic sauce and tzatziki sauce are phenomenal with their Greek salad and Lamb! I ended up having the works wrap too, and added some spicy hummus and jalapenos! Added some great heat and solid spice flavor to the chicken! It's a great quick option for lunch or dinner! We even ordered this place for the Superbowl because we were craving it and the garlic sauce!
We went for the grand opening. Place was packed but well organized. I had a party of 8. Kids loved the food. We ordered the a couple of plates and gyros. So we got to try a little of everything. The gyro was very good and tasty. The plates were very good as well but I prefer the gyro. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Will come back for sure. Parking is free and there is also a parking structure.
Food: Traditional and modern twists on Greek food. Chicken, lamb, and beef choice. Veggies, salad, rice and spreads. Service: The staff was amazing and friendly. Clean with plenty of tables to sit at. Final thought: If you're in a rush and you want a quick bite, go here for Greek food.
This place is delicious. I like to come through on occasion for their breakfast burrito. It's really good! But hands down, the fallaphel and the gyros are always on point! I love the added twist of the fries in my gyro, yum! The staff is always friendly, quick, and organized. The establishment is nice and clean. I'm headed there now! Update: I came through this last week after a small absence from my Greek fix. I was super stoked to see Andre' my man and his crew were dishing out some delicious gyros. I NEEDED to get my hands on a gyro done up Maximum with fries and everything. I had the seasoned pork along with a small side Greek salad. It was awesome!! The gyro had their killer garlic spread tahini, hummus, and seasoned pork. I seriously couldn't wait to get home and dig in!! I'm always super happy to see Andre'and his customer service is absolutely on point! If you manage to save any room after your meal, I recommend any of the after dinner Greek sweets such as their baklava or lukomades which are like small freshly made batch donuts covered in honey and powdered sugar. Like Anthony Bourdain says, " you WANT this, you NEED this!" 💯🔥👌😎 UPDATE I still continue to come here for their delicious falafel wraps. I recently started going through my old reviews and realized that I hadn't posted any pictures. Keep your eyes open for their mailer coupon and the specials on their wraps. 👌😉💯❤️❤️❤️
Finally a place that serves authentic greek gyros with French fries and everything. Great food at a great price. Definitely coming back
Great way to honor our roots. I brought my entire family here (who are very picky eaters, with a combination of gluten free and vegan diets) and we all had such a great time. The staff were super nice, the food was AMAZING, and they had such a good selection of delicious gluten free and vegan foods!! We’re hooked and will be returning for sure.
Very nicely designed, you can see the food you order, menu is simple, 1-choose your base, I got the bowl 🍲 with quinoa, 2-choose your protein, I got the beef 🥩 & lamb, 3-choose your topping, I got tzatziki on the side! Really fresh food, huge portions! Perfect Mediterranean place for picky eaters! Definitely great quality for the price 👍🏻 Will definitely try their breakfast 🥞!
Whole plate of Mediterranean Goodness. Amazing Food, Excellent Service & Atmosphere. Thank you Esteban, we’ll be back.
Best Gyros around!! Gluten free options! Sweetest people and clean store! This is our new favorite spot and absolutely recommend!
I was craving a chicken gyro since I had one the day before from an event and I wanted more but didn't want to be amongst the busy crowd. Upon entering the establishment, my friend and I were warmly welcomed by the staff with genuine smiles, setting a pleasant tone for our dining experience. I decided to indulge in the pita chicken gyro with a side of fries, a choice that exceeded all expectations. The chicken was flawlessly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavors that harmonized seamlessly. Every bite exuded a delightful umami sensation that left me craving more. Their chicken gyro definitely exceeded my expectations and was so much better than the one I had the day before. The overall ambiance of the venue was tranquil and inviting, a perfect setting for enjoying a meal without distraction. I even ordered food to go for my fiancé and they agreed that it was delicious. I had a great experience and I highly recommend it if you're looking for a gyro filled with delicious goodness.
I don't usually give five stars to fast casual restaurants, but this was an exceptional first time visit. The ingredients (I had the chicken gyro plate with quinoa and greek salad, pictured) were fresh and flavorful, and the portion was quite generous. This will be a regular stop for me from now on!
Amazing, delicious food. Great Staff, always willing to help out with phone orders and they always have a great attitude. The prices are good too. Best Gyro I've ever had! :)
the food is amazing! the tzatziki spread is super bomb! I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys greek food. The service is also amazing, they’re super attentive and nice. I didn’t really know what to order when I dined the first time but they were very helpful.
I stopped there based on a Groupon 10% off and I wasn’t disappointed. The gyro was perfect and the service was quick. There was a wide variety of choices and baklava, too. The atmosphere is very casual.
The food was incredible and fresh. We had a bit of everything when ordering 3 plates to go. The server was really patient and helpful when explaining all the dishes. The food is really well priced for the portion sizes and quality.
The food was really good. We took vegetarians platter and it was yummy. The plate is definitely alot for one person. So if u planning to get soemthing for 2 people, i think 1 plate will be enough. The staff was very helpful and quick.
Simply one of the best Mediterranean Greek places to eat in the OC. They have the best pork gyro that you can imagine it's like eating fakin that is crispy and juicy with a Greek twist. They have a good variety of spreads that really compliment all the proteins and all the different sides they have. Take out here is a great experience because the portions are very good, and the food is always ready to be picked up if you order ahead of time
Cant wait to come back. They stumbled a bit with the menu items but fixed it quickly and nicely. Food tasted amazing and we are excited to try new things next time we come. good pricing for portions. came midday as fresh meats were being grilled and everything was temped well. we ate a mixed falafel salad, rice and gyro plate, fries and gyro plate and greek salad. yum!!
Great pork gyro, the meat was tender and flavorful; same with their tzatziki. The food is reasonably priced and it is one of mine and my boyfriend's go-to for a quick bite. The Greek sodas are also fantastic, I wouldn't have thought to try them, but the employee highly recommended them and I see why!
Exceptional establishment. The staff members consistently demonstrate a high level of friendliness and helpfulness. The food provided is of excellent quality, and the service is efficient. Overall, outstanding experience.
My husband and I drive down to O.C. from The Valley to eat their gyros. We end up eating 3...to make it worth the trip ;) That alone speaks volumes. Truly a great family run spot. Great food and always delicious, hearty portions of meat.
I'm a transplanted Greek from the East that has settled in SoCal, and with that said good Greek food is a bit hard to find. This place isn't good, it's excellent! The Beef & Lamb, chicken, and pork Gyros I ordered were fantastic. The pitas were fresh, the meats were tasty and moist, the Tzatziki sauce is authentic with the addition of dill, and the veggies were fresh, not wilted. These entire sandwiches were not soggy, greasy, drippy, or skimpy; they were fresh and generously portioned. I look forward to stopping in and trying the other menu items as well as the gyros. The establishment is clean and well maintained, the drink station is well stocked, and plenty of room to hold an office group meeting. The person that served me was polite and knowledgeable. The cost for all this... Not expensive! I got more food with better service than frequenting the tired clown, the plastic king, the dim star, or the neferious red head. They also serve breakfast, can't wait to try it!
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the gyro at Apola Gyro Grill. I saw pictures of their restaurant online, so I decided to give it a try. French fries and gyro are two things that really shouldn't go together, and yet, they do! It's great for a fast food gyro. I honestly wish they had one closer to me, because I'd definitely go there way more often. Check this place out!
Delicious, curtious staff. I've now tried the beef and lamb gyro and the Hashbrown breakfast platter. They are both large satisfying portions. Sometimes large portions don't equate to quality food. This place is both quality and quantity. The resturant is very clean so eating there nice. Only one thing I would change is the AC made it very cold that I had to go get a jacket from the car. Other than that this is a great place to enjoy good food. Oh, they even have TVs to watch.they do to go orders and order online for pickup. They open at 630am.
Stellar food with great customer service. I eat gluten free because of celiac disease and they knew exactly how to avoid contamination. Gluten free gyro, falafel, Greek salad, and fries in a dedicated frier. So very good!
Good food. I had the lamb gyro. It is a good portion size and cooked well. Had an order of dolma, I do not think it is freshly made, possible canned and prepared. Falafel is good quality.
Always fresh and fast ! We got hosted by Esteban, it's a great guy with an amazing attitude definitely makes it great 👍!
Very tasty halal gyro! The guy at the counter was hospitable.
Great flavors! It's hard to find a good gyro place these days. This one is one of the best. One of my favorite parts is that you can shoot the toppings kind of like Subway if you dine in.
Friendly staff, delicious food that is fairly healthy (other than the fries, obviously), super convenient. If you aren't familiar with it, they use the Chipotle style model where you go through a line a and pick a salad, bowl, or plate, and then add whatever fresh proteins and toppings you'd like. It's white-washed Greek (just like Chipotle isn't really Mexican food), but it's good.
This Place is great! Very good Customer service by Yianni. I ordered the plate of pork gyro and i wanted rice and fries but they ran out. i was going to walk out because i changed my mind but he offered me the Greek salad and told me the fries and rice will be freshly made and will give it to me at no extra cost. he also apologized the wait and offered me a $10 dollar gift card. Management needs to recognize this guy and promote him to manager or at lease a raise. Good job Yianni!!! will defiantly return to eat lunch here again!
EXCELLENT breakfast burrito. I judge breakfast burritos pretty harshly and this one did not disappoint. Flavor was great with a solid spice and the bacon really set it off. A lot of the time you get some cheapo bacon in a breakfast burrito but not here. I will be ordering again for sure. Thanks ya'll!
Our family always loves Apola Greek Grill. Every time we are in the neighborhood, we have to go and eat Greek food.
Delicious Gyro (Yee-ro)!!! One of the best on trips I’ve had and the fries were a great added benefit of flavor. Was out here on a business trip and went there 3 times In 5 days. That should tell you how good the Gyro was. Get “The Works” and you won’t be disappointed.
Vibes are good. Got the falafel pita wrap, and it scratched that Greek itch. Gotta come back here
The food is always fresh and has great flavor. The staff are friendly. The floors, counters, tables etc are always clean. This is my go-to for a wrap.
Great prices, delicious gyros and Greek salad. Tastes authentic and they are one of the few that understands that french fries need to go inside the gyros.
I am a local and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!! Not only is their food super fresh and delicious, but I often get greeted with a smile. Customer service is phenomenal. My favorite employee there is Esteban because he goes above and beyond when serving you. I feel like we are all super quick to write a bad review when needed, but few of us really take the time to provide a nice one. I've been coming here for years, and today is the day I finally decided to give them a nice review. I should have done this years ago! Anyway, if you're in the area and you feel like Mediterranean, stop by! You won't regret it! :)
Very good food at a fast food Greek restaurant. I'm from out of state and would definitely go back again. The plate portion was a lot of food.
Great value and great food with generous portions.
The food was good, especially the pork in the gyro. Not crowded, well lit, and quiet. Nice spit to relax and have lunch.
Amazing gluten free food! With the in our family with celiac we are always looking for gluten free places. This place was amazing. They really care. They change gloves, get new food from the back and generally take pains to make sure it’s safe! Plus the pita bread was awesome! No one in our group (3 of us with celiac) were sick! And the food is amazing!
Everything was super tasty! We had the Beef and Lamb Gyro with a side of fries. We ordered both crispy and the came out perfectly! Had 2 orders of the Dolmas and those were fantastic! Next time were in the LA area we'll be back for sure!!
First time going yesterday, we had the beef/lamb sandwiches, fries and side Greek salads. All was delicious and great friendly, customer service.
The food was Amazing and the service was even better. First time at this place, and we were impressed. Damian was at register. And he was just super cool. We loved this place, can't wait to come back.
The staff are friendly, portions are generous, and the prices are affordable. The quality of the food is also amazing, everything tastes fresh. My favorite food item is the mixed 50/50 lamb-beef Gyro. If I could buy it by the pound I would.
The salad is perfect. I had a dish with pork and it was delicious. I had an issue when it was time to pay due to not having cell coverage. The employee offered to replace my fremch fries with a fresh batch. Now that is customer service!
Yummy! Just wish I could get more than 1/2 of a slice of pita to go with the plate... 1 should be standard, and an extra slice should be $0.50 ...
Be realistic. This is a gyro shop....this is why you come here. Some would consider a gyro the perfect sandwich...The food is fresh and cooked on the rotating gyro machines behind the counter. They periodically shave off the cooked meat and put it in the serving station with the veggies where they assemble the food on front of you. They even add a few French fries to the gyro...just like in Greece! They also have salads and some spreads like hummus and tzatziki....I feel lucky to have a sandwich alternative when I need my quick fix...!!
*Inexpensive I went to this place a while back last month. I have been meaning to write a review. The service and food were awesome! Wish I got the female workers name since she was amazing! Very helpful, she recommended to my friend what to order since it was our first time. I got the falafel gyro it was delicious! The worker gave me free baklava it was so good! I bought another one! Definetly recommend. Indoor seating available. Plus they have coupons you can use if you eat there often. I think I paid around $50 for 2 meals and the bottle of wine.
Apóla Greek Grill serves up some of the most authentic Greek food you’ll find! 🥙 The gyros are packed with flavor, the pita is soft and fresh, and the portions are more than generous. Their sauces and sides taste homemade, and everything is seasoned just right. The staff is welcoming and quick with service, and the atmosphere is casual yet inviting. If you’re craving real Greek comfort food, Apóla is a must-visit!
Apola Greek Grill serves up some seriously good Mediterranean flavors! The gyros are loaded, fresh, and packed with authentic taste, and the portions are generous without skimping on quality. The ingredients taste fresh, and everything has that homemade feel. The staff is friendly and quick, making it an easy spot for both dine-in and takeout. If you’re craving Greek food that’s flavorful and satisfying, this place definitely delivers!
Por fin un lugar que sirve auténticos gyros griegos con patatas fritas y todo. Comida excelente a un precio increíble. Sin duda volveré.
Food was almost perfect. We ate here 11am and we got very dry chiken inside our pita gyros. Except that, food was delicious. We were only customers and it took over 10min to get food…
Casual eatery, plenty seating, located in same plaza as Walmart. For $10+tax, the special for a limited time which was the Works was a good deal. It came w beef and lamb gyro. It was a little dry but the employees gave me more tzatziki when I asked for it. The fries were crispy and I was given a mildly spicy sauce to try w them which was tasty but prefer tzatziki.
I've ordered online before and it was always delicious. Dined in this time and the guy behind the counter was gruff and impatient. The chicken was dry. And it was over $20 for a single item plate.
It was a little average for the amount spent. The food tasted fine, but the meat was a bit dry. Not complaining. I would go again but order something different.
It wasn't as good as our last visit, unfortunately Greek salad is much better, when the ingredients have awhile to marinade, this was apparently just made and the tomatoes were too green and hard 😢... But I can say, this was the qst of 5 times eating here.... I STILL recommend going 👍🏻😊
I've eaten gyros in many different states. The 1 here had beef and lamb mixed, first time for me like that. It was good, sauce was excellent, fries were very good but only a little bit on the sandwich, wish I had a little more. But overall, it was good .
The food has always been of a fond flavor for me but the price hikes have been really apparent over the years and lunch rushes are higher than ever. Don't think anything other than a facility expansion could correct it so it is what it is.
Food was good and the portions were respectable, the worker that helped us on the other hand, needs some training or needs to find another job, he seemed distracted and had some attitude while we ordered. The worker also gave me fries for my order that looked to have been sitting there for a bit. Overall would give it another try but customer service was a bit lacking.
Service was fast and there is a drive-thru option. I have been to Greece and other Mediterranean countries so I was not super impressed with the food. However this can be the best Greek food in Irvine I have tasted. It is located conveniently and parking is free
The food was pretty good but a little dry, and it’s on the pricey side. The atmosphere is great and very clean.
Note to restaurant owner: Please ask your employees to weight how much protein they have to add for regular and double protein orders. I did not get the portion for double protein that i paid for. Also, please ask workers to use separate tongs for placing each type of meat. Otherwise, they cause cross contamination between halal chicken and pork.
A bit over priced but not a bad place to grab a bite. The lamb and beef was dried out, not juicy. Could have been last nights extra. Not a talkative bunch working there but they were pleasant enough.
Fast food that has Greek aspirations but unfortunately the taste is not there. The location is fine on a Walmart parking lot the fast food ambiance is modern but at the end of the day Greek fast food tastes better than this.
Honestly, it was my first time trying their baklava, and unfortunately, the taste was bad. The walnuts or oil used inside made the flavor even worse; the oil smell was very heavy. It was an extremely dried-out baklava. I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant's interior is clean, and the entire team is very friendly. They have fast service. I hope I'll come back soon to eat a delicious baklava
Kids wouldn't eat their bowls. Said the meat (beef gyro) was dry and "not good". My chicken schwarma was dry and needed some seasoning. The spicy feta and tzatziki were good sauces and I was grateful for them. The rice was bland, and roasted veggies were sitting in a pool of oil. Portions are generous, but we threw most of it away as we didn't enjoy it.
The place sounded good on the outside and I love Greek food. I got a beef an lamb gyro. The food could be better if the server had been more enthusiastic and customer oriented. She just put a bunch of meat on a pita bread with that yogurt sauce, and tomatoes. It didn’t look at all like the picture they had in the store. She didn’t even ask if I wanted more toppings. When I asked her to get the other toppings, she looked bothered and proceeded to give me two minuscule samples of two of the toppings. I ask if they are included and she said yes, but you had to tell me before I finish the gyro. ….. Not recommended.
Pork gyro flavor was good. My only gripe is the service is poor and the food is cold. I got there at 820pm and the entire store looked like it was closed. The open sign was turned off, half the chairs up, all the gyro spits had zero meat and fully cleaned up. All the meat was shaved off and put in plastic containers to be microwaved or just dumped in metal containers. The people working couldn't wait to leave and they wanted nothing to do with customers. When a customer walked in, the look on their face was of complete dispair. It's the slowest service I've ever seen at a fast casual restaurant. One employee was sitting on his phone with his leg propped in front of a customer waiting in line a foot away, and never acknowledged them. He just sat there. I appreciate good service and I regret even tipping these people. They deserve to be fired not tipped. This place will be 10x better if management hired people that actually cared to work or have proper service etiquette.
Food was amazing!!!! But the workers in the front and 2 were so disrespectful it wasn’t even funny there was 5 people in front 2 males 3 females. Not only did they barely even bother to help but they were sitting and chatting while they were still on the clock not break and I only know that by then shouting it from across the store. They were yelling at each other from across the restaurant. The only reason I’m harder about this is I work at In n out and no matter how bad a day we are having it whatever customer service is what we strive to have the best of. If I acted the way they did at in n out I surely would be fired the first day. My friend and I were nothing but nice and respectful when they were clearly ignoring us.
So I'm a big fan of gyro and have a lot of taste experience though I understand it's subjective to a large degree. Pros, they give plenty of meat. Price so so. They offered to replace the cold one they gave me. Cons, first, the meat isn't served off the rotisserie, they cut a bunch of the rotisserie then put in warmer which might be there for a while. For the owner, this is a major selling point to have it freshly cut of the rotisserie and warmers are always a bad idea. Two, they served me literally cold meat. Then when I went back, they pulled of the Warner and tried to reheat on a grill!! R u kidding me. Luckily a nice young guy came, turned on the rotisserie and gave me fresh of that. Plus the employee was teying to blame it on 1 min it took to make, me sitting down and eating. If it gets cold like room temp , they it wasnt hot enough in the first place and you shouldnt come up with excuses. Third, they barely put the sauce or veggies on it. There is suppose to be a lot of both. For the manager again, the floors was super slippery but wasn't wet. It is a risk waiting to happen I recommend you look into why it felt greasy slippery. Final part, the flavor , at best just ok enough to eat. Again, it's subjective but as much as I have had it and all over the US and even outside , it's about as basic as it gets. Not sure why such a high rating.
Their food is so subpar compared to other Greek options in Irvine. I ordered a plate with falafel, hummus and feta fries and not only does it look blan it tastes blan. To pay $10 and eat something that makes me think cereal would have been a better option is so depressing. All their feta fries come with is feta cheese. Where is the tomatoes, cucumbers, spices like the nornal Greek mix?
Was very unimpressed. Been following them on Social Media for a while and been seeing great pics of their Gyros. Didn't realize it was Greek Fast Food but that's not a problem. My biggest problem was in how dry the meat was and just a sad gyro in general. Few fries, little sauce, like onions and tomatoes and just very dry meat. Must been the last of the spit or something. Very underwhelming, Below Mediocre Gyro. Hoping it was a bad day or something
El personal no es nada a Mable y la sodas de la maquina no tiene sabor y la comidad muy fria pareciera que es de un dia antes
I ordered this through doordash. I ordered the build your own gyro and requested it with tzatziki sauce. There was no tzatziki sauce on it and the meat was extremely dry and inedible. I threw it away. I've ordered the breakfast burritos before but I will never order a gyro again.
Awful service. I placed a phone order Saturday July 24th at around 1pm. My mom went to pick it up. The asian gentleman ignored her for over 15 minutes while she was trying to pick up the order and let my order just sit there and get cold. I got no syrup for pancakes, no jelly for the toast, no ketchup or creamer. Just awful.
Wow. Just wow. I used to come here all the time cuz it was the only place in irvine with a real breakfast burrito. Those times are long gone. They have doubled the price and cut the burrito down to half its former size which makes it 4X more expensive. To top it off its completely filled with potatoes to point where nothing else is noticable. This place has gone waaaaaay downhill.
Placed a pickup order for 2+1child. Missing items: No pita, no sauce with Falafel, no additional gyro. Also quantity very less. Very disappointed. They should ensure the order is complete before sealing.
Don't waste your time. I had hoped when they opened this restaurant that it would be different than the predecessor Garbanzo but it is not. I waited in line today for about 7 minutes or so, I'm not complaining about the wait. When I finally got to the front of the line, I realized that they were serving pre-made food sitting in heated metal containers. I asked if the chicken was fresh, I was told yes. I ordered a chicken kabob and watched the server pull out a greyish colored kind of meat on a kabob that did not look hot or eatable. If you truly love Greek food and I do, this is not the place for you. I declined the chicken kabob and asked if I could get something freshly made. The server looked past me and greeted the person behind me. I guess the answer is no to fresh food. I left without a meal, no way I was going to pay about $11 for a plate that is not fresh. I went to my favorite Mediterrania Grill down the street and got an amazing meal in 10 minutes.
In so many years eating this type of food and this place has been the first disgusting place to sell this type of food all the meat, it is disgustingly horrible. Anyone who thinks differently hasn't tried the real authentic food here.
Food was super salty. The pork gyros was dry. We arrived 40 mins before closing time and they were mopping and taking the food away to fridges. The employee was actually putting the fries with her hands in and out the frying machine. The spicy feta sauce tasted weird. Definitely not going back.
The food seemed cheap to me its. They could improve to obtain better results. I would eat there againg ... I thing the Greek food is good. La comida me pareció económica. Se come bien. Pudieran mejorar para obtener mayores resultados. Yo volvería a comer allí...
