O Fine Japanese Cuisine in Irvine is highly praised for its Omakase menu, fresh ingredients, and excellent service. Customers appreciate the creative dishes and tranquil, elegant ambiance. It's considered a favorite spot for many, especially for lunch and group gatherings.
Tip: Consider booking the private room in advance for small groups. A group of 4 can get a bottle of sake for only $1.
I came in for lunch on Saturday. There're plenty of seats available so it's not necessary to make a reservation in advance. The lunch special menu is superb. You can choose one main entree and one side dish plus free miso soup for $29. I'm pleasantly surprised to find out that the portion size was large, which is something rare to find in a Japanese restaurant. The food was also fresh and presented beautifully. I'd come back to this restaurant if I'm in the Quail Hill area again.
Love this place! A favorite lunch spot - service is always really good and the food is amazing. They have good lunch specials and their regular menu is delicious too. They can take larger groups too! Highly recommend.
I had an incredible dining experience at O Fine Japanese Cuisine in Irvine. Every dish was beautifully crafted and packed with flavor — from the sushi to the small plates, everything felt thoughtful and elevated. The ambiance was calm and elegant, making it a perfect spot for a special night out or a peaceful dinner. The attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients truly stood out. You can tell this place takes pride in what they do. Service was warm and attentive without being overbearing.
Came back to O Fine for Omakase and loved it! Super fresh ingredients, creative dishes, and great service. Still one of my top spots!
From the time I entered the restaurant until the end of our meal, I had the most hospitable, delicious, and spectacular time eating at O Fine Japanese Cuisine. Our servers, Iga and John, were great! They served us with smiles and a friendly attitude. Our gracious servers catered to our needs and checked in with us throughout the entire meal. They refilled our drinks constantly, asked us how everything was going, and made sure we were taken care of. I especially had a great conversation with Iga about her nails and how gorgeous they were. I'm a nail person myself, so it was really fun to spend a few moments admiring each other's nail arts. But I digress! We started off our night with a bottle of the Yuzu Bloom, a floral liqueur mixed with sake. The color was so pretty, and I'm a sucker for cute and pretty things. The bottle that the sake was mixed in reminded me of a lil pink potion, teehee. The alcohol itself was yummy! The tart citrus flavor is tempered by the smooth sake but neither flavor was too overpowering. I'm not really an alcohol person, nor do I claim to be an expert on it... But I do know what I like, and this I liked! Unfortunately, I only took a few sips because I was the designated driver for the night. The rest of my companions had no problem drinking down the rest of the bottle. We all enjoyed it thoroughly! ;) Onto the food. We started off with a couple of premium chirashi bowls, which came with miso soup and salads. And might I just say? It was divine! The sashimi selection on the bed of fluffy sushi rice was to die for, fresh as can be. The ankimo had a full, complex flavor to it that left me wanting more. The shrimp head was fried to perfection, a crunchy bite from start to finish. The blue crab had me clacking my nails together in a crab happy dance. The toro (my last bite of the dish) was fatty and filling and melted so easily in my mouth. The other sashimi bits and pieces added together made for a perfectly balanced bowl. The deliciousness of it all almost left wanting more, but thankfully the rest of our dishes were more than enough to fill that void. Along with the chirashi bowl we also got the Crispy Lobster Roll, Baked Lobster Roll, and the "O" Roll. Where do I even start? The crispy lobster roll was a joyfully crunchy bite filled with real lobster atop the sushi roll, with the rest of the sushi ingredients all rolled together in a soft soy paper that balances everything out. The baked lobster had a similar, yet different vibe, but just as scrumptious. The lobster shell decor helped to elevate the dish too. And the "O" roll had me making a similar shape with my mouth after that first bite. The freshness of the ingredients wrapped around thinly sliced cucumber as opposed to regular seaweed sent me to the beautiful ocean. What an ebb and flow of fresh fish contained within the confines of that snappy cucumber. It might have been my favourite bite yet! There is not an aspect of this fine establishment that has gone unturned and neglected. From the staff to the service to the fold itself, all stars all around. Eating at O Fine is truly a wonderful way to spend time with people who love food and who enjoy a good time. To sum up my experience: O Fine!
High quality omakase in Irvine! We tried their 15-year anniversary omakase set and it included pieces such as toro, uni, A5 wagyu, caviar, and more. Some of my personal favorites were the toro uni ikura tart, toro with uni, and the king salmon belly. Everything was very fresh and beautifully presented. Our host was super friendly and took the time to explain each piece, which really made the experience feel special. The ambiance is clean and modern. You can choose between premium omakase or à la carte, making this spot great for both date nights and casual dinners.
Another unforgettable dinner at O Fine Japanese Cuisine, thanks to the impeccable service from Iga and John! Every bite was a delight, starting with the Premium Chirashi—a masterpiece of fresh, expertly prepared fish. The tuna was luxuriously savory, the salmon melted with mellow sweetness, and the monkfish liver delivered a decadently rich finish. For rolls, the Crispy Lobster CA Roll (with soy paper, lobster tempura, crunch flake, masago, and eel sauce) was a textural dream, but if I had to choose just one, the Baked Lobster CA Roll stole the show. Packed with lobster, sautéed onions, mushrooms, asparagus, masago, dynamite sauce, and eel sauce, it was an umami explosion—rich yet surprisingly light. We couldn’t resist trying their signature “O” Roll, a stunning combination of bluefin tuna, yellowtail, salmon, blue crab, avocado, and asparagus, wrapped in cucumber and topped with caviar and yuzu ponzu. Every element harmonized perfectly! And as an extra special treat we got ourselves the yuzu bloom sake. A sake drink with a subtle floral and strong citrus flavour profile. The ambiance strikes the ideal balance—upscale yet relaxed, making it perfect for both special occasions and laid-back nights out. O Fine never disappoints—I’ll be back soon!
There are 2 locations in Orange County. I normally come to the one in Irvine often than Laguna Beach. Most of their dishes were very good. Sashimi and lobster sashimi super fresh. Their rolls, udon soup flavorful. And I love Japanese food so I’d like to explore different Japanese restaurants
This omakase spot is perfect for special occasions! The Valentine's Day menu blew me away. Highlights included melt-in-your-mouth toro/scallop, shiso tempura shrimp, and silky chawanmushi with truffle. At $200+ per person, it's a splurge but worth it for the artful presentation, premium ingredients, and romantic ambiance. An unforgettable dining experience!
Occasionally I dine or get takeout from the Laguna Beach location, for the variety and quality of the sushi. I recently tried the restaurant week omakase menu. I took 2 courses home (sashimi selection and cheesecake dessert. This is my first experience with omakase, so I cannot compare to other restaurants. Each course was presented beautifully, in petite portions. The first course “fat bastard” was something I normally wouldn’t try, but I actually enjoyed it. I’m not fond of chewy or tough seafood, but the oyster was smooth and tender, without an overwhelming briny taste. My favorite course was the sushi sampler near the end. It was a filling conclusion with very different and complex flavors that complement each other. I also enjoy black cod, which was seared perfectly, and served with steamed veg medley. Per chef, alternate the slices of fish with the veg to balance the oily richness of the fish, which was great advice. I think the most intriguing dish was the tempura uni, Wagyu, and crab roll wrapped in ohba and tempura fried. The uni was salty and briny, the meat was rich, and the ohba was a clean, refreshing balance. Overall enjoyed my meal and would recommend to anyone who wants a special treat for restaurant week! I appreciated the addition of truffle aroma to some of the dishes.
Attentive service, good premium omakase($165 per person) ! Every dish is packed with flavors, our favorites are the A5 wagyu, toro with scallop, and lobster truffle chawanmushi. Good atmosphere, good for a date night or celebration!
Highly recommend their Omakase experience. Awesome values, service was great and professional. I booked their private room to celebrate Mother’s Day with my mom, upscale atmosphere! 5 stars
If you go absolutely FERAL for uni and enjoy a casual little sake pairing to go with your omakase, I have found THE perfect place for you. Omakase literally translates to “leave it up to the chef”, and during our 13-course experience, they laid on the uni or sea urchin HEAVY--like I’m not kidding, almost every other dish had uni--your girl was in heaven~ It's truly such an intimate experience. You learn about the backstory of each masterfully prepared dish, and you have to get the sake pairing. Started off with a little pink mixed sake that was SO good, and we even got to try one that’s compared to as the Lamborghini of sake! The halibut with even more seared halibut fin on top was like nothing I’ve ever had before, and the tempura shiso leaf-wagyu-uni concoction??? Spectacular, give me 14 of 'em right now ;) Thanks for reading! ^-^
Definitely O Fine Japanese Cuisine 👌🏿 I had the best, delicious King Salmon Sushi 🍣 and Sashimi Soy paper roll. Unique presentation 👌🏿 👏 They have the best Halibut with Truffle oil sushi 🍣 😍, highly recommended
O Fine delivered an epic dining experience, with exceptional service that even included charging my phone. The Yellowtail Collar dazzled with its perfect blend of flavors, while the Tempura Ramen offered a delightful mix of textures and tastes. The fried shrimp heads were a surprising highlight, offering a delectable crunch and flavor that added to the culinary adventure. And let's not forget the A5 Wagyu, which was a delightful addition to the feast. In summary, O Fine delivered an unforgettable dining experience, where every detail, from service to cuisine, contributed to a truly epic evening.
Loved the Laguna O, so my wife and I had to try out Irvine. For starters out server Cody was simply amazing. The way he described the dishes was nothing short of brush to canvas. He also recommended the best sake we ever had. Kubota manjyu. The good...... It just might be the best sushi you will ever have. The Toro from Spain and the yellowtail were terrific. I would recommend this place to anyone that can appreciate the difference in quality with the higher grade sushi and spectacular service.
Gem of a restaurant! This is for the sushi lover and the non sushi lover. Their cooked is great too which isn't always the case in Japanese restaurants.
Excellent food, excellent service. Our waiter Jackson was very attentive and knowledgeable on the menu items. I would recommend coming here during happy hour between 5-6:30.
The food is phenomenal, fresh and refined. Pleasant atmosphere and very attentive waiters. A bit pricey but worth it in the end. Well done, O Fine!
Expensive but worth it. Great Chinese Sushi joint. The Fresh Menu is great. Great Yellowtail Belly. Good Philly Roll.
Amazing lunch deals on the weekdays. A chirashi bowl for under 20??? A nice chilean sea bass for under 20??? I'm sold. Great portions and great flavor.
Great service. Sushi, sashimi, and rolls were all excellent. The host that sat us had great customer service and was extremely helpful!
I loved this place. I had Sushi plate, and my hubby had sashimi plate. Both were excellent. Service was excellent. Will be their regular customer.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. You should try some of their signature rolls, the ORoll was delicious. Service was fantastic also, Jackson was a phenomenal waiter.
Great place to dine for sushi. Polite, friendly and courteous staff. The quality of food is at its finest. Love the atmosphere.
Great food; music is terrific - light jazz piano, etc., no loud vocals; great atmosphere with the blue decor; but they never answer their phone. What's up with that???? Wait staff and servers and friendly and very knowledgeable; sushi chefs do a great job. atmosphere is very relaxing and I wish I could eat there daily.
When I saw the menu I questioned if I would love this place… it was one of the best sushi restaurants I have been to. The chefs here are outstanding. Try the scallop roll. A remarkable dish.
Stopped by here for the first time and really had a great lunch. Things got off to a great start when I ordered the garlic edamame -- which was hands down the best appetizer I had as far as I can remember (oh so garlicy)! The main platter was a solid as well. Tasty miso sauce drizzled salad with rich tasting teriyaki salmon, crunchy mixed tempura and good California rolls. Service was very very attentive and extremely friendly (literally no empty cup or plate stayed on our table longer than a minute!). The very relaxing and soothing modern interior design tops it all off.
My FAVORITE Japanese spot (and I’m Japanese) 😊 My fiancée and I come here regularly for date night, and it’s an amazing spot for a nice dinner (but you can also wear casual / business casual and fit in.) The service is super fast even on a busy night; the servers are so nice (Jinny is the best server ever!). My fave dishes are the Chilean sea bass (served on a cast iron dish), red snapper sashimi, and the O Sushi roll. Highly recommend!!
Great experience, calm music. Really fresh fish and rice. Was able to eat a delicious lunch in 15-20 minutes price is on point for the quality of fish you are getting.
Thank you so much holly for serving us she was very informative about each meal and gave such great service. And special shoutout to Thompson for seating us so quick amazing environment
Baked Lobster Roll Fresh lobster, tempura-fried. Comes with a side of sautéed mushrooms. Wrapped in soy paper instead of ordinary seaweed to keep the high savory flavor. Chirashi Bowls - Highly Rated * Very delicious, very big altogether. The bowl is big enough to split with multiple people. Some of the ingredients are as follows: monkfruit patte, toro, sweet shrimp, tamago, salmon, blue crab, octopus, spicy tuna, scallop. It is served with real wasabi, which is freshly grated as real wasabi is only spicy fresh. "O" Special Roll A four-part fish roll in one bite, topped with various roe. Excelent for wanting quality bites. The main fish flavors are bluefin tuna, yellowtail, salmon, blue crab. Yuzu sake Very delicious with strong flavors of citrus and yuzu. Pairs very well with the savory dishes. Overall, if you are looking for higher-end sushi dinner, O Fine in Irvine is a very good choice.
a hidden gem in irvine! i was truly impressed by the ambiance and quality of fish here. in an elegant dining space, @ofineirvine serves premium omakase or a la carte dishes with some fish imported from Japan! my favorite was the Chirashi bowl which had thick cuts of high quality fish and the red snapper sashimi with the most delicious yuzu sauce. i’d say the prices are definitely more high-end, but it truly matched the quality of food. great for a celebration or date night!
One of my favorite sushi spots in Irvine. Especially in the Quail Hill area. The food is delicious and the fish is very fresh. It’s super convenient and easy to get to and I’ve always had a good experience!
Excellent, fresh food! Always a good place to get together with friends.
Overall a very enjoyable experience. The food was very good, but I'm closer to a 4.5 here only because I felt it was a little expensive for the quality. That said, the ambiance was chic but not too quiet, and the service was good. I ordered a couple of cut sushi rolls, but I would come back to try some of their entrees.
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The decor is very modern and the restaurant was quiet, which would make this a nice place to go on a date. They have happy hour specials on food items like calamari and hand rolls, as well as special pricing on beer and sake. The quality of their fish was good. I didn't order any of their fusion-style rolls (they aren't really my thing), but what I did order was very good. I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again.
Special sushi rolls look elegant and taste delicious. Lobster baked roll is the best while the O signature roll is unique and worth trying
I previously posted a review for the Laguna Beach location based on our dine-in experiences, which I found to be better than one or two dine-in experiences at the Irvine location; however, I recently began ordering online for pick-up or delivery from both locations and have found the Irvine location to be superior. The quality of the pick-up and/or delivery orders are far superior to the pick-up or delivery orders I have received from the Laguna Beach location. After receiving several amazing pick-up and/or delivery orders from the Irvine location, I determined that this is the location that consistently provides not only amazing quality sushi; but also amazing service. The sushi at O Fine in Irvine is amazing. You cannot find better sushi than O Fine in Irvine. The quality and presentation is what makes this restaurant stand out. If you love sushi, you have to go to O Fine Sushi in Irvine or Laguna Beach. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed, particularly at the Irvine location. I just wanted to add that even a year later, the quality of the food and the service has not wavered. It’s still the best sushi in OC!
Pleasantly surprised that such a fine restaurant is hidden in a small shopping center. We randomly stopped at the shopping center one day and decided on sushi as we were walking around and this restaurant turned out to be amazing. We tried a variety of popular items including the baked lobster roll, O Roll, Toro Fantasy, and a few other sides. We were amazed by the quality and taste. The service was impeccable and the restaurant incredibly clean. I live about 30 mins away and I would gladly make this drive again. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Great Sushi! The Otoro is consistently good! I haven't had the omakase yet, but I have seen many reviews and will try it soon. The seabass grilled is really good too! I like their sparkling sake, Mio. Really good!
O Fine is the best way to have high-quality sushi in a full restaurant setting without a wait, as they accept reservations. The sashimi sampler is my favorite thing to order, followed by a wide variety of fresh fish sushi options.
Upscale, clean, authentic Japanese restaurant! Fish was fresh and perfectly cooked/designed … very diverse menu and enjoyed every bite. You will not be disappointed … oh, and the service is fast! What more to like? Loved it!
I just had one of the best sushi and sashimi dinners of my life! The chefs were very engaging and helpful! Their dishes are very creative and extremely fresh and delicious. I will be back here again for sure! I highly recommend this restaurant! It is an amazing experience!
absolutely lovely place, great service! gave us to go cups for our iced green tea! nigiri was amazing!!
It’s my second time having dinner at O Fine Japanese. Both times were excellent! I always start with the Yellowtail sashimi with w/Jalapeño. It’s not spicy at all. Take the Jalapeño out if you don’t want a slightly spicy kick. It is the perfect size to start with, and it’s also super delicious. For dinner, we had the “O” roll, which is the roll wrapped in cucumber instead of rice!! It was great since there was no rice, and it was very light. We also had the “Sashimi” roll, which is wrapped in soy paper. That one was also amazing, light yet super delicious. I do recommend this place :)
O Fine Japanese Cuisine 6731 Quail Hill Pkwy Irvine, CA 92603 (Dung Le)
Food is great...some ingredients can be fresher and price point is definitely higher than a regular Japanese restaurant but they market this place as more of a high end Japanese fusion restaurant. I like the fact that they have a private room and their sushi chefs and staff are attentive and friendly. They do their best to accommodate you and your requests especially when youre celebrating a special occasion. Its definitely worth a try if youre in the area.
Uni Nigiri was Japanese (they had Spanish option for less) and $37 for 2pcs but it was goood. Wagyu fried rice was big portion but greasy and I don't think anyone would tell that it was wagyu meat inside. Not worth $48 at all. Baked lobster roll was good but $$. Poki nacho was alright l. We didn't finish it. They said their fish was never frozen but it was still fishy for me. Rock shrimp tempura was good that we ordered another one and other appetizers were pretty good.
The quality of the food here is good and they also serve a variety of Japanese selections. Their dessert is pretty good, although there are not a lot of options. While nothing really stands out, I did like the consistency with their dishes, never dropping below standards.
I had the premium chirashi. It was good and plentiful for the price. I also had the A5 wagyu sashimi. It was excellent👌
Hard to find fresher fish. This place is worth the wait. Although I was one and got in quickly. Don't expect service with conversations. You order and hand rolls get plopped down on your piece of paper mat. Six rolls are enough. My mouth is watering thinking about this place.
The fish is really fresh, and they have a live tank for lobster and amaebi. They also have really good imported wagyu. Price is a little high, and the sushi rice seems a bit dry, but overall a great sushi and Japanese restaurant.
3.5/5 stars. The inside is beautiful, and the dishes were nice. The baked lobster roll has good lobster pieces. The soft shelled crab in the rainbow spider roll was tasty, but the fish didn’t taste fresh (it was chewy). The O roll had good amounts of fish inside. This place is pricey! Would prefer AYCE at sushi damu
Literally the best sushi I've ever had. I don't really write reviews but I am so impressed with this place that I had to share. The menu is extensive. There are even vegetarian roll options. The portion sizes are great. Every bite was a flavor sensation adventure. I wish I lived in this city so that I could stuff my face with these beautiful rolls on the daily.
Because of its location, it is usually my go-to delivered sushi option. I did recently have the chance to dine here in person and was thoroughly impressed with the service, presentation, and the cool modern vibe of the room. High-end fish quality, tons of combination, and specialty rolls that will appease and satisfy almost any sushi lovers' discerning palate. The attention to detail in plating all of their food is stunning. For being a restaurant in the middle of a nondescript neighborhood mall area, this one ranks above the rest.
This comes from a non-fish-eater's perspective so take for what you will :) I have ordered from this place many times for catering and it has always worked well. It is pricey but that is expected of sushi. I went here recently for lunch and they have a very nice atmosphere. The wait staff is all very friendly and good about taking care of everyone. I got the marinated short rib and it was ok. Not the best I'd ever had, though, and certainly not 20 bucks good which is what the lunch meal costs. I can understand that price for a sushi lunch but not short rib (especially not that little meat) and not teriyaki chicken either. Other than that it seemed great. Miso soup was good and the tempura was tasty. As long as you expect to pay 20 bucks+ for your lunch, knock yourself out
Went here for Orange Country Restaurant Week 2022. Omakase price is $120/person for ~10 courses. The sashimi was incredibly fatty and delicious to eat/taste. However, the nigiri/sushi was underwhelming - of the 6 nigiri pieces, 4 of them were white fish with at least 2 snappers. And of the 4, 3 of them were terribly chewy. I eventually had to spit out some of it because it felt inedible. Plus, they didn't include any salmon so we ordered 2 separate salmon nigiri pieces.
Decent Japanese restaurant with a good selection of sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese food. The restaurant is modern and nice looking inside. The server was quick and helpful and all the food came out quickly. One downside - I never saw soy sauce and my opinion on food was asked after I finished everything, not in the middle of it. Crispy lobster and caterpillar rolls were very delicious though - would order again and recommend! Price wise it’s a bit above average but they cater to a slightly more upscale experience.
The edamame, miso soup, and salad were decent. The salad was extremely wet and the sauce was mixed in with water. The miso soup was good and edamame was tasty. For 5 dollars, it is only seasoned with a bit of salt. The chirsashi bowl was delicious and I enjoyed it a lot. It is pricey so will not be coming here very often.
Came here hoping for a slightly fancy sushi dinner. It feels more casual than it seemed online. The food was good but nothing noteworthy. We had a reservation but had to wait over 20 minutes to be seated. Service was very slow and did not check up on us often. We wanted the sashimi platter with assorted fish, but asked for one substitute because my boyfriend is allergic to shellfish. They declined and refused to accommodate him. l know this restaurant is new, so I hope it gets on its feet better as time goes on.
I'd been wanting to try O Fine sushi for a while due to the good reviews. Unfortunately I was unimpressed. The sushi is good, not great, and the Toro was sub par. For the higher than average prices the sushi needs to be better than average and just wasn't.
The fish was very good quality. The cuts are very thin, so it’s not a great value. Service was very good and the ambience was very quiet.
Food was good and would have given 5 stars but my fountain drink tasted horrible. The soda tasted dirty...might be a good idea to change out a filter or clean the machine. It was pretty bad.
Ordered omakase here for my dads birthday spend close to 600. With the amount spent I wish they gave actual real chopsticks instead of wood. The quality declined thru the meal and the dessert was not good.
This was beautiful inside — from the décor down to the menu design, it definitely has that upscale feel. I came for the omakase lunch special. It was better than your average sushi spot and priced fairly, but it wasn’t anything mind-blowing or memorable enough for me to drive back out for. The ambiance fits the area — sleek and refined — but the food felt a level below what the setting promised. It’s nice if you’re already nearby, but not something I’d go out of my way for again.
Food: some of the dishes were good but overall I felt like the sushi and rice weren’t the best quality Service: the servers didn’t seem very enthusiastic or friendly. Food took quite a long time to come out Ambiance: we were in a room that was quite warm and stuffy, and the overall aesthetic wasn’t as nice as I was expecting
not a traditional Japanese dining experience. 1. the Ramen came out first instead of last. actually our whole meal was served out of order with the fresh uni and oysters last. 2. the sea urchin pasta had too much of an overpowering cream sauce and no visible uni pieces 3. the shogoku oysters had too much ponzu sauce. this place does get points for their nice decor and attentive staff. food mediocre. not coming back
2stars, why?: the ratio “ food for money” makes it much too expensive. I go to different sushi places every week and this one is a regular place but way too expensive.
Only reason for giving it a 2 start is not necessarily for the food, but for the fact that it is much overpriced, seems the place is trying to justify the high prices for their decor, however the sushi isn't bad,but it's nothing special to demand the high prices, had dinner for 2 and bill without tip was over 200$ and we got 2 rolls and some pieces of sushi, pretty crazy prices for sushi you can get elsewhere probably half the price, also sushi pieces were tiny, half of what you would get elsewhere and again nothing special about sushi quality. Do yourselves a favor and Go elsewhere and get same quality sushi for half the price.
Nice modern decor is the only thing going for it. Like others have mentioned food comes out at random and over 30 minutes apart from the first person to the last. First person to receive it finished long before the last person even got their food. Service is also terrible. Looks like everyone's first time at this job. Absentminded, not around and never even refilled our drinks (maybe it was extra). To top it off they couldn't run our Costco Visa card so we paid cash. They return change based on some other table's check which was much higher than ours. Don't know about lunch but dinner is overpriced for this pseudo sushi place. Everything is a la cart but menu is full of rolls and baked lobsters and such. No bento, sushi or sashimi sets. $35 chirashi. This is about as Japanese as PF Chang is Chinese. Portions are extremely small. Even my 7 year old had to order tuna roll and California roll. We ordered 3 yellowtail collar and one was double the size of the other 2 very small collar. Waiter says the person who gets the large one is lucky. Seriously!? A $16 yellowtail collar no bigger than a McDonald quarter-pounder patty is lucky? After spending $200 for dinner my boys grabbed 5 Guys burgers afterwards.
It was tasteless and the portion was very small, but it was extremely expensive. It was the worst chirashi bowl I've ever had, and it cost $60
Worst experience ever. Portions are pathetic. Do not go here if you’re hungry. Even if you’re not that hungry, it’s way over priced and the portions are a joke. Portions are for a 2-4 year old. And again, WAY OVER PRICED. You can’t even taste the quality or enjoy it because the portions is so small. Thumbs down for sure. Out of the way and don’t waste your time or hard earned money. If you want a fun atmosphere and real good quality for the same price, go to Sushi Roku or any other place than O Irvine Sushi. Ugh…🤮🤮👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Over priced. I live in QH but will never go there again. Used to he the spot but now terrible. Small portions over priced, no Love. Sushi is an experience and this place lost its flare. Never again!!!
So what can I say about this restaurant, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is good, but the service is below zero, explained why we went to eat there with my wife? and I noticed that there was a delivery person there, he was waiting for the order. And while we were standing there. We were waiting for a table to be prepared for us, he was waiting and he asked twice when the order would be ready, they told him different times and the order was not ready. It turned out that the order was ready 5 minutes ago. The girl was so busy talking on the phone that she forgot about it. That's how you got a one.
Poor service, Sushi is good but every plate is a surprise. You can order the same plate/roll a week apart and get something completely different. No 2 chefs prepare anything even similar. Food delivery is very unprofessional. It's as if No one has ever worked in a restaurant before. Too bad, could be a great place. 1/14/24 update. Food is still average. Prices are very high. 2 people, 3 rolls, 1 order of sushi and 2 Miso soup, and 1 cucumber salad. $150. Plus tip. There is a sewer issue in front of these restaurants and the oder on top of fish is just nasty. Sorry but the Quail Hill management needs to fix this for all the the restaurants sakes. Sewer and eating don't mix. I will say service has improved. The young gentleman server taking orders speaks and communicates well. All orders were correct. 1 complaint I do have is the management did not ask a child playing a game on a tablet at the highest volume to either turn it off or use headphones. I'm spending close to $200 with tip and I expect atmosphere. This is not McDonald's or the Pizza place. Parents, where are your manners.
Decent Sushi quality but overpriced with small rolls/portions. Not sure if management cannot hire enough people, but Saturday night was too busy for the staff to handle. I could see the staff hustling, so I don't blame them I'd blame management for overbooking the restaurant and having it understaffed. It took a very long time for everything. Even to get our check.
Bad take out experience This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. But now we have decided to stop going there for a while, since twice the take out experience was bad: Last friday the soup and rice was missing and today the rice and three rolls. So each time this meant going back, arguing with them and waiting for the missing parts. The food is still good and we will miss it.
This place is NOT recommended. Warning!! The quality is not on par for the price that is charged. Small sushi pieces and high price!! The shrimp tempura was somehow frozen and low quality!! I was wonder if there was any shrimp there. The potsticker from Trader Joe’s is better than this junk. The sushi chefs aren’t even Japanese??? We would be embarrassed to take a Japanese person here. Needless to say, we won’t be back after spending nearly $300 there….
The service was extremely rude. I called 4–5 times trying to place a pickup order and no one answered. When someone finally picked up, they impatiently told me to “wait a moment” and then basically put me on hold without any explanation. I ended up waiting for 7 minutes. I originally just wanted to give this place a try, but the experience was so bad that I gave up. Very unprofessional and frustrating. Would not recommend.
We have visited this restaurant for dinner many times so coming here for dinner seemed fine. When we arrived at the restaurant it smelled really bad, like a stinky bathroom. A bad foul smell. We then sat down at our table and it still smelled bad. Was it the smelly recycled fountain water? Not sure. After 10 minutes I went to the ladies restroom and it also had a bad foul smell. We also noticed the prices on the menu were extremely higher than our last visit on 2/15/2020. Wow, I'm sure prices went up due to COVID-19 and inflation! For the amount of money we spent on the food you would hope the smell and atmosphere of this restaurant would be descent. The smell seemed to dissipate. There were 2 other tables with guests near us. I wonder if they could smell this awful air. We ordered our food and it cam quick. Ordered scallop cut roll, veggie tempura for me, mix tempura with shrimp for my son, edamame, rice and wagye beef entre for my husband. For dessert we had the pineapple cheesecake as a birthday dessert The food tasted fine but 5 hours later my stomach doesn't feel the best. I'm lactose intolerant so not sure because of that or something I ate. My husband & son shared the same dessert and they felt fine. Overall, I thought the food was overpriced, atmosphere had bad smell and not worth the money. Won't be coming here again.
I like the place and even had my mother's bday in their back room. I was there with my wife last night. A lady named "AUGIE" who was the MANAGER. It was going to be our first time trying their sushi bar. I told Augie pls give us your best sushi chef. She didnt really even say anything and just sat us down by the kitchen door where every 20 seconds someone went by and said "corner". I said it to her again to make sure she heard me. By the time I realized it I didnt want to get up and move etc.. Their main sushi chef wss on the other side. My wife is pregnant so wanted a creative chef so can make some cooked stuff so she can enjoy. Nothing against our chef but not an expert or even close. I'm super disappointed. If the manager had just listened and accommodate us. There were many open seats.
