HaKaCha Ithaca Reviews
Great experience at HaKaCha. The staff is so friendly and helped us with a birthday cake. The fried rice was awesome and coming someone who usually don't like fried rice dishes. Also the pad Thai really amazing and the chili oil they gave with the edamame was so good... That schezwan spice that lingers on your tongue. Great experience!
I had the Thai fried rice with tofu, and I don't think I've had better. Maybe because the tofu was cut smaller so absorbed the spices better, I don't know, but it was delicious! My husband had the bacon ramen and gives it a 4 out of 5. He loved all the mushrooms in it, where sometimes those are skimped on.
I've lived in Ithaca for the last 4 years, and Hakacha is hands down the best restaurant in Ithaca. No others even come close, period. Their salmon squid ink pasta, brussels sprouts, and mango chicken salad is to die for. I'm writing this review because I'll be graduating, and I don't want this restaurant to die out because it's such a hidden gem.
I love their food. I got a crispy chicken salad with mango and sesame dressing it was delicious. A friend and I shared a spicy seafood squid ink pasta because we were curious but also nervous to risk a whole dinner on it. It was SPICY and absolutely delicious. I got more to go to feed my family. I'll will definitely go back to try there whole menu. They have a limited menu but I believe they have chosen to serve the food they do best and it shows. Visit #2 I got Salmon Green Curry Noodles. So delicious. 10 out of 10 recomend.
This was an interesting fusion between Italian/Japanese? I can't really tell. The spicy bacon pasta was very tasty. The bacon ramen had a light broth that tasted almost like minestrone? The creme brulee was perfect. An interesting combination of flavors and cuisine. Add Thai iced tea and hot tea for roughly $60 with tips. Service was prompt and attentive.
Outstanding! This place definitely lives up to its rating. Don't let their small menu fool you. Everything we ordered was reasonably priced and VERY VERY good. Just their brussel sprouts alone were exploding with flavor. What really made it amazing was all of our entrees: pad Thai, fried chicken mango salad, spicy bacon pasta, and squid ink pasta. Everything, and I mean everything, was extraordinary! Our server was very nice and provided us with their favorites. I would most definitely come back!
We're from Pennsylvania, outside of Philly, so we know good food. Up in Ithaca for the weekend. Came here on a whim. Absolutely fabulous! Little hole in the wall in a little strip mall. The establishment is clean and inviting. We had the fried chicken, shredded pork on toast and gyoza to start. My wife had the chicken with green curry and I had the bacon ramen. Their Thai iced tea is great. The apps were fantastic, especially the chicken. And our entres were fabulous as well. My wife really liked the green curry, and she is not an adventurous foodie. The bacon ramen was killer, I COULDN'T STOP EATING IT! Highly recommend Hakacha to anyone who enjoys well made Asian food.
The location of this restaurant was very interesting. It was sandwiched between a gas station and DMV. Very unassuming. We drove past and almost wanted to try another place. But glad we turned around. The restaurant was open and clean. Spacious. The wait staff was welcoming and efficient. We ordered the Vegetarian Ramen, Seafood Pasta and Breaded Chicken Green Curry Pasta. I had the Vegetarian Ramen. Probably one of the best I ever have. The broth has great flavor (not watered down) and the noodles were al dente. The mushrooms went really well with the broth and noodles. High praise to the other 2 dishes too.
The fried chicken salad is so good. The breaded coat is crispy while it’s very juicy and tender inside. The sauce is fitting well, too. I also got the spicy seafood squid ink pasta - the scallops and shrimps are very fresh - wish the pasta sauce can be creamier tho. Shredded pork bread and green tea cheese cake are classic.
Amazing for dates and special dinners. Loved everything about the experience down to our amazing service by Preedee who was very kind and personable! The Salmon Curry Pasta and the Fried Chicken Mango Salad are big hits. Despite a full stomach, we finished a slice of the most delicate and delicious cheesecake!
The service leaves a lot to be desired (partially because they have one server for the entire restaurant including online order for pick up, etc.) So not a place to go if you are pressed for time. But the food is excellent. I highly recommend the squid ink pasta with salmon!!
It’s a fusion-style restaurant with interesting menu. You got everything here and there. Pasta selections are specifically unique. Dey not traditional tastes. Salmon squid ink pasta came with a cream sauce. Salmon was huge, pasta portion is big too. Tasted good but pretty straightforward. Fried chicken was good but slightly dry. Fried brussel sprouts was flavorful but something might overcooked so it got a little bit bitterness.
I ordered the vegetable Ramen and there was no flavor in the broth. The tofu, mushrooms and other toppings didnt really add much to the dish either. There was a stark contrast between that and the Bacon Ramen which was very rich in flavor. When I got to the bottom of the vegetable Ramen all the flavor "sediment" was there but it still didnt taste like enough. We also got an order of the Brussel sprouts. They were good but needed something like a dipping sauce to cut through the fried taste.
