Sancocho was incredible. Full of flavor, depth was good and balanced. Cozier place, very warm and welcoming staff. Bachata playing and it feels like a place where everyone knows your name if you from this part of town. A gem. Will come again. Blessed to have been lucky enough to drop by

I have been eating there since I migrated from trinidad 🇹🇹 to live here they always have good food my go to is the yellow rice with red beans and the carbon chicken my cup of tea delicious 😋 highly recommended and don't forget to wash it down with a natural cold lemonade or coca cola I didn't give full 5 stars because I know they can do better and need a little more effort or work to reach a 5 in certain aspects of the business but they have good food and making the place is always busy

So for a long time i had no idea this place was so close to me, i used to order my spanish food from Mi Casa on 117th and Jamaica ave, but they wound up shutting down and reopened under new management. After searching and realizing El Rey is 8 blocks away i stopped in and decided to give them a try, i am certainly thankful i did, the food is seasoned just right without being to strong, the service was very fast and courteous, and not to mention the prices are great . i usually order the roast pork(Pernil) with white rice and beans on the side with an order of sweet plantains , and it would cost me almost 40$ at the old place i ordered from , this order was half the price i paid and was so delicious, they have a great selection , and the staff is great , even the delivery is pretty fast i only suggest confirming the address before hanging up, as they had my address wrong and my delivery took 45minutes, once it was corrected i get my deliveries in about 15 minutes!!! hope you enjoy as much as i have , this is my new go to spot!!!!

Mid*range variety of options, servers were ok, atmosphere was very social, with a sports event on the television& music playing in the room. I took my food order home, greatly enjoying the pineapple cake!

I’ve been dreaming about Monfongo con camarones since I left the restaurant! I had that with a passion fruit drink. The perfect meal and it was so delicious! A great spot in Queens. Would definitely come back again!

My co-worker always orders food from here so this morning I decided to order breakfast with him I ordered a Ham Egg and Cheese and a Bacon Egg and Cheese on a roll ( one for breakfast one for lunch) When the food came it was hot and fresh The Ham and bacon delicious not salty at all and the bread was a huge hero roll not a smaller roll like other places I have ordered from Awesome Thank You El Rey for the delicious food - will be ordering again!

A really wonderful Dominican reataurant around the corner from a pub I frequent. I think it is family owned & run. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the food is always great and fairly priced. I probably visit five or six times a month.

Authentic Dominican food, variety. Most choices are good, unfortunately the Pernil ( pork or chicharron) very dry.,some others too greasy. Noise level especially evening too loud, interferes with dinning experience. Lots of food choices good soups. Waitresses hard working and deserve a good tip.

Tasty Spanish food at reasonable prices. Generally riendly staff but the big guy seems to be in a bad mood. Good for take out. Parking is difficult in the area and the restaurant can be cleaner.

Ate here at this place for the first time. Wasn't impressed, was a bit upset by the end of the night. First a server asked if we wanted to go upstairs, she said they had food upstairs as well that we could choose from, but to our surprise the 2nd floor was part bar part karaoke station,(ok), so you could order food upstairs but only to stay there and eat (no to go plates on the 2nd floor). Apparently on the 2nd floor,(it's to order in) they have a small area for karaoke and dancing, to which we were unaware of, Ok, so then they blasted the music so loud you have to scream to talk to the people at you table because the loudness of the music is a total exaggeration, this guy raises thevolumeso loud that you have ringingin your ears by the time you leave, (i say ok play the music so people can enjoy it, but not so loud to the point where you have to yell to the person sitting next you because they can't hear you (so not good🤔). So we ordered because we were already upstairs so we had no other choice, i ordered white rice, beans and beef stew, which was pretty good, my husband had white rice, beans and some chicken which was like rotisserie style, his aunt ordered pork shoulderand salad with a side of smashed plantains. My husband said to me the chicken was dry, and he didn't like the taste of the beans much either. I think his aunt enjoyed the food somewhat, but anyway food service was ok. Then first we had one girl come over and serve us then, another come and took over and took care of us while we were there, so then we were a little confused to which one was our actual server, so at the end of our meal (which because of the loudness of the music we had to cut short because we couldn't even sit and talk and enjoy our meal) so we ate quickly and was ready to leave at which at that point my husband's aunt wanted to tip our server (i mean the girl that actually took care of us while we were there, the one who SERVED us), But the other girl that only came to us to bring our drinks in the beginning came to get the tip, we were like what?!, Mind you she didn't come to us all night while we were there, just that one time. Anyway, would i or (we) go back?, maybe just to order out, from the display, which is on the 1st floor, but not to sit and eat, i don't think so, not again.

I ordered the roast pork via Uber Eats and they sent me burnt meat. You could taste the carbon. It wasn’t just overcooked, it was burnt. And I don’t know how they managed to do it but the sweet plantains were burnt too. The only thing edible was the rice and beans. How can a business send that to a customer?

I was really disappointed with my order. The rabo guisado was not authentic at all and the flavor was honestly terrible. On top of that, when I opened the white rice, it had a strong, unpleasant smell. Overall, the meal was not good and I wouldn’t order from here again.

I bless my food before consumption. As we are this magnificent dinner my husband was eating beans and found a staple in the beans. My husband was very concerned as he extracted the material from his mouth, due to my anxiety I phoned the restaurant. There was no pity. It was like a joke. I was disappointed. They was worried about making me feel better while I’m trying to spread the awareness. Constantly repeating I don’t know how a staple would have gotten into the beans. Sad part is my husband loves this place. Only place he eats from every Sunday. So now because of the nonchalant attitude when a staple has been found in my food has gotten us her. It’s likely I will have this place of business closed down due to food safety negligence. I always order delivery.

So I had order the ribs with the sweet plantains today and let me tell you guys something this is the most nastiest ribs I ever had in my life and I feel like they didn’t even cook it they just put it in the microwave and serve it because when I had it I felt like I was eating left overs and it was over cooked but the sweet plantains were good but overall I wouldn’t recommend this place because the food it’s not being cooked they are heating up their food.

Service was very bad. They did not serve water until I asked many times. I ordered Stewed cod fish, the fish was not fresh but bad, taste awful. Never come back.
