Blue Dolphin Katonah Reviews
Delicious home made pasta with other crafted dishes. Pair it with very attentive service and cozy interior makes it a fantastic eatery.
Went here last weekend for the first time and enjoyed the food very much!
Great spot for fresh homemade Italian food. Service is great and very friendly.
The Blue Dolphin is my family's all time favorite place to eat. I live locally and for at least the last 7 years this has been our number one pick for dinner. I was shocked to see anything but 4 or 5 star reviews here. It is authentic Italian food, do not expect a diner menu. The owner and his staff are nothing short of exceptional and always ensure my table has a positive experience. The food is phenomenal (try the Penne Salmon dish), the wine is excellent, the coffee/dessert is perfect, and all for a very fair price being in Westchester. My only complaint is that it is not twice the size because on Friday and Saturday evenings there can be lines out the door and a long (but always worth it) wait for seating.
Delicious, fresh Italian food. Fast and friendly service. Always a good time. It's a bit cramped inside, but always cozy. If the weather is nice, sit on the patio.
Eating a meal at The Blue Dolphin is always an enjoyable experience. The seafood and pasta are so delicious. Their marinara, cacciatore and vodka sauces are to die for. Fresh seafood all the time, delicious specials daily, lovely wine and cocktails. The atmosphere whether dining inside or out is always fun. This restaurant is a must. Say hello to Alfredo, the owner. He makes everyone feel right at home. The staff is superb.
I used to eat here often because I worked in Katonah but after moving away and a gap of about 30 years, I went back to this place for a late lunch with my family. Wow did it deliver! The perfect weather didn't hurt as we ate in their cozy outdoor pavilion but the things under their control were also perfect: a very personable and knowledgeable waiter, plates served sizzling hot, some of the best pesto you'll ever taste, salmon done to a chef's kiss, a heaping bowl of risotto chicken, all followed by homemade chocolate mousse that I seriously don't think can ever be beat. You better believe I'll be back, and it won't be thirty years!!
It had been quite some time since I’d been here and the food was just as delicious as I remembered! Our group ordered Clams, Caesar salad with grilled chicken, Bow tie pasta with Pesto sauce, and an Arrabbiata pasta that was not on the menu. The pesto dish was practically licked clean . It was a large portion eaten by a tiny friend who seldom finishes her plate . The fact that she she managed to devour the entire plate speaks volumes as to the flavor.. I have to admit that I stole a piece of two because it looked so delicious .I ordered the Arrabiata, which was perfectly spiced. I think each and everyone of us enjoyed our food equally. The staff was perfect. They were very attentive, without being intrusive. I had to take a star away from the atmosphere simply because the overhead heaters in the patio area became too hot, and while they were incredibly accommodating in turning them off, it became too cold. Had they been adjustable heaters it would’ve been fine. Looking forward to coming back during the spring months and sampling more of the menu..
We’ve been going here for almost 30 years and hasn’t disappointed yet! Negatives: staff can get busy and seating can feel cramped. (Because it’s popular & small!) Positives: The food is delicious & unique (like this pork chop in a spicy, lemony wine sauce 😋) It’s a good place to celebrate life & friends!
Excellent spinach manicotti!! The pasta had chew, the ricotta filling and tomato sauce were better than what I would use at home. My partner loved the asparagus in her Asparagus Pesto Farfalle (and the rest of it too). Service was great, a fun and delicious place to eat, if a little loud.
All the pasta is made fresh down the road and the sauces are delicious. One of my favorite places to eat. Lunch is the best time to go in my opinion, just because of the mushroom sandwich and the pasta lunch specials! The staff are super friendly and everything is made to order. Take out is easy, but they do not deliver. Parking is in the back or around town; it is free to park. Only issue is that the place is really tiny, so be ready to wait on the weekends or during a busy time! If you are moving to Katonah or visiting, you have to come to Blue Dolphin! Also, try the dish I attached; it's pesto and marinara sauce mixed together with fresh pasta shells.
Really unassuming place. Do not expect your regular diner food. Maybe this little gem caught me by surprise? I was waiting for a regular diner menu, almost left when I saw the Italian food menu, Italian to me is the most overrated food (wine and olive oil the same problem for me). I was pleasantly surprised on how much I like the beef Lasagna we ordered, split pea soup and fried calamari. Everything was great tasting. The place is not the most affordable in the area, but it is totally worth it. Like I mentioned, Italian was my least preferred food but now this restaurant has some how changed my mind. Now I am looking forward to our next visit to make sure I wasn't just hungry :-) on this occasion. By the way the olive oil at the table was also great tasting and fresh and went perfect with their estrange but wonderful bread
Lovely restaurant and staff are excellent. Food is also quite good; the lower rating was due to the zucchini parmigiana. I do not recommend this dish because it was merely zucchini, too much mozzarella, and tomato sauce. No ricotta cheese or anything else. Every bite was a struggle because the mozzarella is stringy once cooked. Zucchini was not soft enough to make the meal less difficult to enjoy. So, if you go, do not have this, if it is on the list of specials.
My first time at Blue Dolphin didn't disappoint. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. The cacciatore and grilled chicken and the pasta were all delicious. We are outdoors under the tent because it was too crowded and cramped indoors where space is very limited. I recommend that you go on a day when the weather is nice and you can eat outside. enjoy the delicious food! 😋
The food was delicious with nice sized portions. The service was terrible. The server never came back to see if everything was ok after he served the food and my husband had to go looking for him to inquire about dessert. We wouldn’t go back because good service is important and there was none here.
Stopped in for dinner. The food was very good but the portions were small. They charged for refills of ice tea. Unfortunately a restaurant like this puts maximizing profits over value. Maybe charge a sit down fee too.
