Sealand Seafood & Steaks La Grange Reviews
The Cajun Seafood is absolutely delicious. One of the best I have tasted in the USA. I asked about having them make me some of their sauce and I would pay for it. The owner had never done it yet she made me a gallon to go. I just had to take some with me. Our waitress was 5 stars and above! Margarita is reallygood. Second visit here with same waitress and still amazed about everything. Plenty of truck parking. Simply walk to convenience store next door and let them know you will be dining in and they will give you a parking permit. Just state how long you will be staying. Overnight parking available.
The place is nice and is where we meet for one of my best friend's mother's birthday lunch. The fried catfish, shrimp and stuffed crab was delicious. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot fir your money. I highly recommend this place.
Just moved to the area and tried this place by chance. Awesome service from Alma. A large menu with a variety to choose from, and portions are easily shareable too. The coleslaw tasted better than homemade. Just the right mix of crunch and dressing. The steak was tender and had so much flavor. The alligator tail was crispy, and great with the ranch dressing. Three appetizers were probably too much, but we wanted to try a few options. We ended up taking home 4 containers for later.
Went.here on a Saturday afternoon. Even though there was only 1 server, she was pleasant and gave just the right amount of attention to our table. The food was really well made. We had the alligator as an appetizer, and the fry was perfect. Everything was good, and the price was fair given the servings were generous and the food quality and preparation was very pleasing.
The restaurant is showing its age, but it was clean. Staff very nice. My fried shrimp was delicious, and I know my fried shrimp! Hubby’s fried fish and fries were also delicious. The salad was cold and fresh, my mashed potatoes were excellent and had enough clumps of real potatoes in them to know they used the real thing, not a mix. I can’t get over the perfect shrimp.
Although it's not a 5 Star dining kind of restaurant, I appreciate the variety of food offered. My go-to meals are the Ribeye, Rare or The Boiled Shrimp, Extra Spicy. The Fried Rice is my husband's favorite. They have a bar & plenty of seating.
Visited for lunch on a Wednesday, with my cousin. I've driven by multiple times, but never stopped. We both had a catfish plate. The catfish was crispy and hot. It was quite good. The portion was generous. We had salad, which was fresh and cool. I had fried, which were good. My cousin had mashed potatoes, which he said were.from scratch. Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was clean, which was refreahing. Will definitely visit again.
We have been eating at this location for several years. Don't let the outside fool you, and they did get a recent paint job. Grape fried pickles, fried catfish and fried shrimp. I do not eat a lot of fried food in the previous two trips, the oil that my food was in made me sick. This time I ordered grilled (instead of fried) shrimp with no issues.
Traveling through and stopped off for what turned out to be a great lunch! I had the grilled shrimp, steamed broccoli, salad, green beans and tea. My husband enjoyed 2-lbs crawfish and a cup of gumbo. I can't say enough good things about our meal...everything was delicious. The only critique would be more cajun-flavoring for crawfish. Mt grilled shrimp were delish, and the broccoli steamed perfectly. Our server was attentive to our needs and very pleasant.
The food was good, but my order was wrong. I was there with 4 other people. The drinks were messed up too. The place is nice. The food good. Decent priced. Then we were left sitting with no checks long after we asked for them. She finely had us go to the bar to split the bill. Service was lacking, food, place, atmosphere, all great.
.If you're looking for something fancy, not the place. If you like good food, resonably priced, try this place. I would recommend the fish or shrimp. I've been back several times. Oysters only seem to be large and good during the season. The Alligator is excellent. we must have each visit. My wife had stuffed salmon very well. We had another good meal here. Don't order mashed potatoes they are instant. Chef salad, not too good, chicken was dry and tasteless. Update June 2025 service was good. But I had the worst chickenfried steak I ever eaten.
One of my fried shrimp was yellow. Not the batter but the meat. I asked about it and they said they mix corn meal and flour together but this would not make the meat yellow. Looked like scrambled eggs had been fried. They offered one extra shrimp but I said no. I had already lost my appetite. They took 4 dollars off the bill. I will not go back. I’ve cooked all my life and catered meals. I’m still not sure what made the shrimp yellow but it was not good.
The food is honestly hit or miss. The shrimp dishes are salty but pretty good. Everything else is horrible. The crawfish are DIRTY. The stuffed grilled salmon is dry and nasty. The dirty rice taste like old dish water. The butter sauce is salty and really spicy. The fried rice is horrible.
