Chulo's Cafe and Cantina Los Robles Reviews
This place continues to be one of the best breakfast restaurants in the county. Always great service and quick, delicious food and coffee.
First visit, had heard good things and was not disappointed. Excellent breakfast, fun and attentive staff. Try the Bread Putting French Toast.
We eat here at least once a month and are never disappointed. Great choices, fresh, great service. Kid friendly too!
Save money of the airfare to fly to Peru and eat here! The excellence of Peruvian gastronomy is known world wide and Chulo's does not disappoint. I have eaten in Lima, Cusco, Aguas Calientes, and Ollantaytambo. Chulo's is as good or better than the best restaurants in those cities.
this place.. is amazing. i literally crave their breakfast burritos on the daily. the staff is super friendly too.
THE. BEST. FOOD. IN. TOWN. Without spending 3X as much as one of the fine dining establishments downtown, this is the best breakfast, brunch, lunch or early dinner around. Put this place on your list of places to go!
Great food and peaceful place. Worth the trip. Noel is a great waitress and Justice is a fabulous young cook.
Great menu with many choices. Tortas are great, loved the fish tacos. Fresh mango on the tropical salad was so good!
Been here a couple of times. Amazing food!! The staff is great and very organized. The ambiance is so pleasant. A hidden little gem in the middle of a medical district.
Went to have a meal to remember my father that was born in Peru.. first time very yumny. Clean, quiet, and good service.. who knew there was a good restaurant tucked back behind so many offices.
Wonderful meal. I had the carnitas which was very crispy and tender at the same time, perfectly done. My family had the local favorite which was a white sauce enchilada with crab and shrimp for the meat. This was done to perfection as well. Wish there was one in SLO.
One of my favorite places to eat! Such a hidden gem among doctor's offices. The food is so good! Love getting brunch here after our appointments.
As a local in the Paso Robles area, I have eaten at several other breakfast places. Here are the benefits of this place over the others. - parking was easy. The location is next to a hospital a bit tucked away from everything else in Templeton. -food was cheap. -lot of choices for food. I had some bomb linguica and eggs while my wife enjoyed some chilaquiles. -coffee was ok. They also have lattes and the like. -very kind staff. One of our waitresses might not have known what an Arnold Palmer was but I think she figured it out for us. Overall definitely earns the good reviews they get.
When you drive up you are thinking no way a restaurant is here. But then you see it. Nice place clean. The food is amazing Carne asada was so tender. Everything we ordered was perfect. We don't write many reviews, but felt we must. I recommend the visit and enjoy a great meal.
DELICIOUS choice after wine tasting! All six of us raved about our food choices. Super casual, unassuming place but WOW. So great!
We LOVE Chulos. We go there at least 1 to 2x's a month! You have to try the "LOCAL FAV"! Absolutely delicious - along with their chile rellanos, burritos and chimigangas (so good). The cocktails/beverages are wonderful as well. AND we also enjoy our servers - so nice and wanting to make sure that we're taken care of - we feel like "regulars" and are treated that way and see some other Templetonians there on a consistent basis (Pilg's - lol). We've only had dessert there once which was excellent (strawberry crepes) -- it's because we're so satisfied/stuffed by the end of our meal that we just can't eat anymore. We have to learn to "share" an entree!! HA! Maybe NOT!
Wonderful staff and exceptional selection of food. Definitely a memorable and enjoyable meal for our family!
The whole family loves everything we have tried here. Consistently great food and we are always treated really well.
Always amazing food. We're just lucky it's still a hidden gem so that we can get seated immediately! Keep up the good work.
Great food and great, friendly service. Ordered chicken fried steak was very flavorful, sister got the chilaquiles verdes special and were delicious!!!
Such delicious food! We had breakfast and it was fantastic. This is our new spot!
Food is always delicious whether is breakfast, lunch or dinner! The locals fave is to die for. Friendly welcoming staff. All around wonderful place to dine or even pick up.
Lunch to end my vacation. Crab and shrimp enchiladas were the best. Margarita was perfect. Not right off the freeway but DEFINITELY worth finding.
My favorite is the pink Peruvian beans-divine and creamy followed closely by the vegetarian burrito, fresh, full of veggies and crunchy. Then there are cheese enchiladas. Everything is so good and made more so because of Carole and her friendlly and helpful staff,. So glad Chulos has started serving dinner on weekends. And to top it off, they are community minded and involved. Thank you. You are doing an excellent job. Nancy Fiske
My favorite place to eat at the central coast. The food is always amazing along with the great service. We've made it our family Sunday ritual.
There food is so good there the mimosas are good too different flavors too. They are very friendly there & there outside patio is so cute & relaxing.
The food is delicious and you can get Mexican choice on a normal breakfast like nopales with your scrambled eggs. However the traditional breakfast dishes like French toast are also delicious. We sat outside on the patio and were at a comfortable distance from the other diners. There's a small water fountain that provides a nice backdrop atmosphere. This is a little tucked away place, a bit of a hidden gem worth looking for.
This has been a hidden treasure on the Central Coast. We live close by and were surprised to find out that it's been open for 11 years. The food is great and the menu is extensive. They're only open for lunch, which is unfortunate. My husband loved it so much he wanted to go back the next day and so we did. We went again the following weekend, lol. The owner is very friendly and they aim to please.
Great place to eat!! The food tastes Great! We would be Happy to go back. My cousin made reservations for lunch for our group. They said they had no reservation for us. But it was not an issue they got us right in and seated our group of seven. Very nice place to have a Great meal.
The food was delicious, the service staff nice and efficient and the ambiance was very nice It is also quiet. No busy road
What a delightful lunch yesterday! I wonder why it took me so long to go? Maybe because Chulos is at the end of a dead end street, surrounded by doctors offices, labs and a hospital! oh those lucky people! To have such a convenient restaurant, with such wonderful food and oh so pleasant environment! I am coming back. The al pastor burrito I had was excellent. The meat was quite tender and the pineapple added a nice touch of flavor that I will remember for sure. Her enchiladas were very nice with a quite tasty sauce. We ran into other friends there and joined their table. The had ordered sandwiches that looked HUGE. and they were, and they gobbled them up completely. Chuck said he had tried many things on the menu and continues to come back. Silly me will be following that lead for sure! So fresh, nice staff, and great surroundings. See you there -- Oh and the patio is fabulous too!
Our waitress went out of her way to make sure we received a great meal and that everything was as we ordered. This is a great place to sit back and enjoying a great meal. Will definitely be going back soon.
This has become one of our all-time favorites; for both breakfast or dinner. Well beyond what we think about as "Mexican food"; this is Caribbean food. The value is outstanding, with great selections and specials. We eat here about once a month and we are always greeted like old friends. Somewhat out of the way, among a group of medical offices, at the very end of Posada Lane.
Great service, quick serving. Great music, great waitresses. Great atmosphere, 9/10 would go again. The burritos are to die for but the tamales were too fluffy. Great place overall!
Incredible...I selfishly didn't want to write a positive review in order to keep this hidden gem hidden. But truly, the food is both plentiful and fantastic. We appreciate our friends in Templeton sharing their discovery. Warm chips and perfectly spiced salsa to our meals cooked to perfection - clearly there is pride in ownership at Chulos. The service is spectacular. Everyone is courteous - greetING all with a smile. And unlike the average restaurant...here you'll feel a warm atmosphere which enhances your meal. A new family favorite.
Friendly staff and lots of menu items. For breakfast, there are definitely many options ranging from classic diner food, to Mexican cuisine. Outdoor Patio was cozy and they were also accommodating to us, as we had a dog with us.
Their specialty coffees were filled with great flavors and perfect to drink first thing in the morning. I had the Huevos Rancheros and it was delicious! Next time I'm in town, I will definitely be returning to try something else on their menu.
Pork tamale and Peruvian beans were so delicious. And don’t sleep on the churros… perfection. Enjoyed sitting out on the patio. Will definitely go back to try their breakfast.
Delicious food! We had their chilaquiles and breakfast skillet - both were delicious and the portions were generous. Would absolutely love to return here and bring the whole family next time :)
Excellent Latin American fusion food. Food always arrives timely and hot. Wait staff is friendly and personable. My friend had the chicken tortilla soup which was excellent. I had the Chef Special Sandwich, shrimp and avocado on a ciabatta roll with spicy chili 🌶️dressing. Hot! And delicious.
This place is very good! It has a Latin-Mexican twist and let me tell you, they are not shy on there plates! The food was amazing. My dad actually ordered a hamburger here and our eyes popped wide open when we saw it come out on the plate, served with huge steak fries. I had a combination plate, and the flavors were amazing. Our family can't wait to go again. It's that good! The staff are friendly and an outside patio area is great for summer nights.
Really good breakfast; on the pricey side, but the portions are generous and everything is delicious. Good luck trying to decide between the sourdough toast or a chocolate muffin--each are to-die-for good. Homemade corned beef hash isn't oily, just tender and packed full of flavor under a perfectly crisped top. Super satisfying.
I live in the Central Valley and love Mexican food. We made a pit stop here as the virus was lifting. Let me just say, AMAZING FOOD. I had my most favorite breakfast burrito yet. Anytime I take hwy 101, I intend on stopping here for a bite to eat. Great service. I walked by to thank the cooks and they were very kind as well!
Very good food. We showed up with a large group and they were able to handle us with very little additional waiting. Very friendly staff.
I've eaten here often and have always enjoyed it. I usually order one of the mexican dishes and it's always excellent. But today I ordered the California Chicken Sandwich. It was out of this world! Parmesan grilled bread with a satisfying crunch that melted in my mouth. Perfectly ripe avocado, tomato and lettuce with crispy bacon and tender juicy chicken dripping with melted Jack cheese. My husband, the die hard burrito guy, tasted it and declared that's what he's ordering next time. This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, at the end of a side street tucked in between a bunch of medical buildings. They have a nice patio and allow well behaved, leashed dogs on it. One caution. The attractive patio tables are topped with hammered metal and can get burning hot if hit by the sun.
Chulo’s is bomb. Have to get the churro pancakes. 5 stars for sure. Just go. Look no further. This is the sign you’re looking for
The food here is dope!!!! I went back the next day to eat more!!! Well worth the money and friendly staff and cozy enviroment
Stopped here for a quick lunch and so glad I did! Absolutely delicious food (pictured is the sope with carne asada, which was some of the most flavorful and perfectly cooked carne asada I’ve ever had). Dog friendly patio too - I’ll definitely be back!
Very friendly staff and tasty food. The patio, where we sat, was comfortable and had a nice small garden area to the side. We went for breakfast and the menu had plenty of selections and everything sounded tasty. We will definitely be visiting again.
Best Mexican Food for miles! Always consistent food and service!

High quality Mexican breakfast and lunch. We had a chicken taco salad and a carnitas burrito, Sangria and a Micelada. Large but not huge. Beatiful prep and service. Not Taco Bell.
Lovely spot for dining. We were outdoors but with a roof and one of the three sides covered by custom plastic/canvas wall/window. This cut down on the cross winds. Generous portions served on charming earthenware inspired plates. The Mexican dishes were authentic. The traditional dishes were appropriately savory and sweet. The portions were generous. The atmosphere and service were convivial. Order taking was challenging due to our large group and the number of specialty coffees ordered. Good value for the price. We would dine at Chulo's again.
Absolutely delicious! My husband loved the Chile Verde omelette and the pancakes were delicious. The ambiance was cozy and beautiful. Highly recommend when visiting Paso Robles!
Chulo's nails it! I had the club sandwich with fresh fruit. Everything was perfect. Our server was attentive and pleasant, and the beautiful fountain in the courtyard made the setting so serene. I hear they have breakfast too. I'll have to try that soon.
They were recommended to me by a coworker. My breakfast burrito was fantastic. My wife and I are always looking for a good breakfast burrito and this one was exceptional. I will be back. The service was fast and friendly.
The best authentic Mexican food. Machaca is off the hook!
Amazing food and super nice service! Honestly, 10/10 breakfast, so glad we stopped here. Their patio was under construction so they made an exception for our puppy to come inside - so nice of them!

Chulo's has a lovely outdoor dining area. The menu is pretty extensive including some Peruvian classics. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Great local family mexican. The huevos rancheros and sopes are both favorites. Many takers of the more American breakfast dishes but we cant help sticking with the southwestern specialties.
First time there. My Mexican Scramble was good with sliced country potatoes English Muffin. We plan to go there next time in Templeton.
Wide selection of delicious items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Can't go wrong here. Wish they had a full liquor lic6so they could do real margaritas.
Good food and service. We had a limited amount of time and they moved our order to the top so we could make the appointment on time, which we did.
The breakfast was acceptable but nothing special. It was on the expensive side. Decent coffee.
The food, ambiance and staff are amazing. Would highly recommend this place. However, only ONE unisex RESTROOM made it very difficult to even wash our hands before meal came. I think an establishment that serves this many people, should strive to do better for their patrons.
Quaint feel. Nice patio area. Warm friendly service. Good food. Enchiladas (cheese) were excellent. Will try chili rellenos next. Extensive breakfast and lunch menus also
This is a nice restaurant in a bad location. It's right in the middle of a medical building's street and block. However the food is always fresh and inventive. The outside dining area is relaxing. The prices are reasonable.
People mentioned service but for only one server and being the owner I think it was a 5..Fantasik.....food as well on point..we got the Very Berry Pancakes excellent 👌
This very beautiful Cantina nestled in the medical district of Templeton is my new go to. From the breakfast that is top notch they do not pre cut up their fruit it is cut up as ordered fresh fresh fresh! From the basics pancakes, french toast and omelettes to specialty items like homemade hash benedict. There burgers are cooked to perfection I recommend the ABC burger you wont leave hungry. We have several Mexican restaurants to choose from but with Chulo's beautiful decor from copper covered tables to their outdoor patio you can really relax and enjoy your meal. Some of the best mexican food around. Chulo's shrimp enchiladas will have you craving for more. Take a chance on Chulo's Cantina you will be happy you did. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner you wont be disappointed
I visited for lunch today with a friend. The service was very good. I hadn't eaten there for a couple of years, so I was looking forward to the mojitos and their delicious food. The menu seemed a little different and they no longer serve mojitos. My friend's vegetarian sandwich was full of fresh veggies and served with a huge pile of cut fruit. I wasn't very hungry and wanted to order an appetizer, but couldn't find any on the menu. I ordered a cheese enchilada. They had 4 or 5 lunch specials that looked really good. I will definitely go back again to try something new. They also serve breakfast all day.
Excellent food in this Mexican restaurant in an area totally devoted to medical offices. The patio is one of the most pleasant dining environments in the north county.
Food was good but not great , service was good and sever was attentive to our needs. No hot tea at breakfast time or hot chocolate if you were not a coffee drinker.
The atmoshere is nice, and the food is really very good, but the service was a bit casual. Fortunately we were there for a pleasant sunday afternoon meal, so the wait didn't bother us too much. The Chile Relleno and juevos was very good, as was the Juevos Rancheros and Chiliquiles. There was a steady takeout stream as well as indoorband patio seating. Overall a very nice relaxing meal.
I stopped by Chulo's for a quick lunch to-go. I wasn't super hungry, so I ordered a carnitas taco with rice and beans. I'm conflicted about this review because the food was delicious, the service was friendly, and my order came out quick. But with a small tip, my order totaled just under $20 for ONE taco, rice, and beans. The portions were not small, but even so, I just don't know if all the positives outweigh the fact that it was overpriced. Worth is determined by what one is willing to pay for something, and at the time, I was willing to pay $20. But I don't think I will be willing to pay that again in the future.
If you are in Templeton either visiting a doctors office or Twin Cities hospital give this nice Mexican food restaurant a try. The people and family that run it are very nice they have a relaxing patio. The food always taste great. Everything tastes fresh. Enjoy cheers!
Great food. Slow, disorganized service (during a busy Sunday lunch visit). Servers were friendly. Just a lack of management and leadership direction on process and operations.
Jomomma and Your mom are you doing today my love you are and I have a few questions for you when you have a few minutes you have to do it again but I will be back in town until the last I heard he was in his room you have to make a trip out to you have a few questions about it but I have a few more days to get the money and I will be back to work tomorrow at noon so I have a question MAMMY?

They need to check their prices! $8.99 for ONE side of bacon. Unfortunately, I ordered two sides before seeing the price. $19.55 (with tax) for 8 pieces of bacon.
Pretty good food. Slow but friendly customer service and clean. The food is a nice change to the usual in this area.
Sandwich was mediocre and the outside atmosphere was way too hot.
Over expensive for what you get. 20$ breakfast burrito without chips and salsa. Ridiculous.... doctor pricing. Sorry no more business from me.
Expensive compared to other mexican restaurants. $20 for small vege omellete with no meat.
Short staffed but could have done better. Messed up my order and I ate it anyway. Ordered a enchilada got a taco. Rice and beans were kinda bland. $2 mystery charge on bill. Good menu options though and nice atmosphere.
The cost for the two menu items seemed expensive. The Chile relleno burrito was average at best. The corned beef hash and eggs were mediocre. The restaurant is understaffed but friendly.
I had the steak omelet. It was the breakfast special. It was very under seasoned. I had to add lots of salt pepper which I usually don't. I have eaten here before and everything was fine. The portions are huge and I thought it was a bit expensive. In addition to the omelet I had coffee and juice for $25 not including tip.
Food has a strange flavor and sweet. Not the style of Mexican I prefer. Also a bit pricey - $9.50 for a bottle of Modelo!
The food was nothing spectacular, potatoes tasted like the frozen ones you see at Dennys, it was over priced for sure, $14 for two eggs, $5 for a standard cup of coffee that wasn't even that good. To top it off I was nauseous after leaving the place. Normally I trust the star ratings but I decided to give it a try. It was given a 4.4 and I can understand why. Not sure I'll be back.
It was OK food, atmosphere and service.

The misleading wait time, slow service, inattentive staff, and overpriced menu placed a huge dampen on our Mother’s Day family celebration. We just weren't cared for, in comparison to the regulars. Will never visit this establishment again.
No free chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant??? Food was ok but overpriced. Not sure why they are open for dinner, we were the only ones there. Very different from our lunch experience.
I added another star strictly for the service. Chulo's came recommended to us so we thought we would give it a try... boy, were we disappointing. The service was good. We could tell our server was very new (I think she may have been a busser but was helping out the servers) but she was very nice and attentive. The food was terrible. Out of 3 people, not one person had a good meal or a good beverage. I got the "pumpkin spice latte" which literally tasted like regular coffee with pumpkin spice creamer. The bloody mary and michelada were water thin and just had an off taste about them (the "Super Bloody Mary" came with one pepperoncini as a garnish and nothing else...what a joke). I got the 2+2+2 (2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon or 2 sausages, and 2 pancakes). The eggs weren't seasoned AT ALL, the bacon was greasy and slimy, and the pancakes were thin and dry. The others in the group got chicken fried steak and the hash Benedict. The chicken fried steak was mushy and lacked any flavor. The hash Benedict claimed to be homemade which I don't believe at all (it looked and tasted like it was out of a can). We could have gotten the same meal at Denny's for a fraction of the cost (yes, that's how bad the food was). We will not be returning.
I've taken my family twice to Chulos after church on Sundays recently. The food is amazing, however both times we have had horrible service. No smiles, messed up orders, wrong amounts on checks, and an attitude like we are an inconvenience from the moment we walked in the door. If service isn't important, I'd highly recommend this place. If you are looking for the great service and great food, I'd highly recommend selecting another establishment.
The only thing I can say is we had the place to ourselves at 9am in the morning and we still had quite the wait time before being served. Good food but overpriced for the portions and the wait. Also, we only saw our waitress when we arrived and we're seated, she took our orders, and when we were ready to leave to give us a bill and clear the table.
This place gave me food poisoning!! I will never go back. It was recommended by a friend.. the food was gross, never again! Be careful eating here.
Foods good. Service is horrible. It's been like that for a while now. I tried to call in an order and Service was still horrible. I will not be returning.
Stopped by at 4:15 pm for a drink and snack. I was turned away and told they were closing. Don't list your hours until 5 pm if you're not going to be open until 5 pm.
Two small regular street asada tacos . $10 each .. unbelievable! .. paid almost 30.00 .. two tacos and a mineral water. My first and last coming here
My $21 burrito was made of mostly soft, bland potatoes and beans. I struggled to find the chorizo and eggs advertised on the menu. Very disappointing, especially for the price.

Wait time was terrible and was not even that busy on Mother’s Day. Customer service could have been much better. Waitress forgot about us after we ordered and I had asked for coffee 4 times which I did not even get after 4 times asking for coffee. First and last time here. The chips and salsa were good. Very windy in the patio . Could not eat comfortable.
