Sake Cafe Lufkin Reviews
Great little place. Good food & friendly staff. Can't wait to go back!
I absolutely love this place i come every chance I can the lunch or dinner rento boxes are amazing I get the sushimi and the fish is always fresh
Caught the tail end of the lunch menu and stayed straight through happy hour, and I’m glad I did. The food was awesome across the board—fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The staff was great: friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. What really stood out was how incredibly affordable everything was, especially for the quality and portions you get. If you can swing both lunch and happy hour like I did, it’s absolutely worth it. Excellent food, great service, and prices that make you want to come back again and again. Highly recommend. 🍣🍶
We knew we were in the right place when we saw how busy it was. We moved to Lufkin 2 months ago and this was our first restaurant to visit for sushi. The spicy tuna roll and tuna avocado roll were perfect. Excellent spicy mayo. The ginger dressing for my salad was on point. My husband enjoyed his chicken teriyaki bento box. We have found our sushi spot in Lufkin !!!
Great sushi and service. Happy hour is great for reduced sushi prices. Tempura was amazing. Had enough for lunch the next day.
I love the Bento Box! It is delicious and has many different parts with a lot of food! The service is always good! My only complaint is that the music can be a little loud and repetitive. Other than that, it is my favorite place in Lufkin to eat!
Sake has some of the best sushi in town! The Didi Roll is my family's favorite! I love their bento bowls! The atmosphere is laid back and the waiters are always great. My only complaint is that the music really ruins the experience and it is always the same repetative song every time we come in there. Other than that, it's great!
Okay - first of all the service was so good the entire family commented on it at some point. So energetic. I wish I’d posted the review same day and captured our waitress’ name before I spaced it!! Will update the review at some if I can. Despite how busy they were we still got fast seating, we were checked on regularly, and staff was so energetic and wonderful listeners. Our waitress engaged with and helped the kids make great picks. This might go without saying if you know the area or (get recommendations from others like we do)… this is where you go to get Sushi. The Sushi is prepared to perfection by dedicated artisans (you can watch through the glass at the bar). Sake Cafe is also very well staffed, clean, comfortable and huge spread of offerings on the menu. Enjoy!
This is a great place. I was seated right away. My server was fantastic. Helped me choose the fight dish for me. Even helped me out with getting me a menue that explained the different rolls and gave me samples of all the sauces because I didn't know what I liked to dip mine in. The teriyaki Salmon was very good. The food comes out quick. It's a pretty reateraunt and was nice and quite even during lunch time.
First time here. This place is amazing! Prices are great! We had the boat, which had sashimi, rainbow rolls, California rolls, thick tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, peppered tuna and white fish sashimi. Lindsey was our server and she was wonderful. She described different roles. Shared silly jokes. She checked on us regularly to make sure everything was great! We will definitely be back!!!!
Great food in or out! Have been getting takeout for the most part for the last year! Hard times for us all! They stay pretty busy during lunch and dinner times! That’s how you know they are great! Also recently went to dine in!! Tried new sushi rolls! They were delicious!!! Don’t just take my word for it! You should try for yourself!
Came in and requested sushi bar and was accommodated right away. Service was great and chefs at bar was very helpful. Waitress was very pleasant and attentive. So to the food...I ordered the Tiger Roll first and it was very fresh tasting and I received it pretty quick when all is said... after that I asked the chef for his opinion on a tempura roll...I don't know the name of it but it was fantabulous, had fried shrimp, rice, and crab with some other stuff. I will be back and hope if you're passing through or live around the area that you too will stop by and try for yourself...
We were greeted right away and seated promptly. The restaurant interior felt a little dated, but it was clean and spacious. It was quite busy during our visit, and we kept hearing staff apologize for delays, but we decided to order anyway. For our first round, we ordered edamame, soup, and a few rolls. The soup arrived first — it was okay but lacked flavor, and unfortunately, they didn’t have white pepper when we asked. The avocado roll came next; it was fresh and tasted good. The California roll followed and was also fresh, though it tasted almost identical to the avocado roll. Next, we tried the soft-shell crab roll. It looked great but had a very fishy taste and an unusual amount of lettuce inside, which felt a bit off. We also ordered a chicken tempura roll, which took about 15 minutes to arrive. It was hot and freshly made, but honestly, a little underwhelming in flavor. On the positive side, our server was quick, polite, and attentive throughout the meal. The food was very affordable and filling, which was a nice surprise. Overall, it was a decent experience, but we’ll probably check out some other sushi spots in town before returning.
This is one the cleanest restaurants in Lufkin. You can tell that the owners value their restaurant’s atmosphere and stand by a pleasant experience for their customers. They have a variety of choices on their menu, and have non-sushi options on it as well. Our food was very good, however I will say we had hoped the chicken tempura would have a more unique flavor. The chicken teriyaki was excellent. We got their fried rice, but I think next time I’d probably get their steamed rice. Unfortunately my wife and I didn’t try sushi due to shellfish and seafood allergies, but we have heard that this is the main reason to visit here. If you want sushi, give this place a try.
For Lufkin this is probably the best place to come for Sushi. Food is good. Dumplings and salads are always great. Soups are good as well. Most of the Sushi rolls we have tried so far are good. Occasionally rolls that include raw fish have fish that is not fresh as evidenced by texture and a little extra fishy in taste. They have a large menu but allot of the rolls do not have descriptions so you can easily order without having to ask the wait staff for descriptions. But overall it is a good place to eat. I am including the menu, our appetizers, soup, salad and the Rocky II Roll and the Lufkin roll for reference.
We got there before the lunch rush & were seated quickly. Server was nice, but not attentive. The good: The Osumashi soup was heavenly. Warm & seasoning was perfect. Goyza was cooked excellent, but no dipping sauce was provided. California rolls was the only edible sushi. Good flavor. The bad: beef teriyaki bento box. I thought the fruit was pineapple, but it tasted like a sweet mushed blob. Wasn’t even yellow anymore. More of a pale white. Does pineapple even come in that color? The teriyaki was COLD. In fact the plate was cold. So odd. The rice was room temperature & it seemed like a bottle of soy sauce was dumped on it. Not a fan of the seaweed salad. The other 2 sushi rolls were, just not yummy. We have been going to Sake for 4 years and that was the absolute worst visit. Nope. Not heading back.
Absolutely horrible! Placed order through the app they make you. Went in to pick up and the lady came to counter and never offered to help me. Two other people came in for pick up and she literally looked past me to help them. Will NEVER return!
