The Live Oak Maspeth Reviews
We have lived on FPR in Ridgewood since 1998, and I always passed over this place, assuming it to be just another neighborhood pub. Recently we had guests over who wanted to try their food, so we finally went there for dinner. The quality of the food was so impressive that I have been kicking myself for not visiting sooner. The shepherd's pie is outstanding: tasty meat filling, chunks of carrot and a fluffy layer of mashed potatoes baked to perfection. We also ordered the chicken pot pie: large chunks of white meat chicken, potatoes, carrots and celery in a creamy white sauce, topped with a freshly baked crust. Both dishes are clearly made on premises, not frozen, and it shows in the flavor. We have re-ordered both now on several occasions - both dine-in and delivery - and they are consistently outstanding. More pub favorites include fish n chips and bangers and mashed. Pair either with a fresh pint of your favorite beer and you can't go wrong.
Had an absolutely fantastic night at The Live Oak! Victoria was truly the highlight of our evening. Her service was exceptional. The menu had so many amazing options that we couldn’t decide what to order, so we ended up getting a variety of dishes and everything was delicious. The drinks were outstanding as well. Victoria’s attentive and friendly service made the whole experience memorable. Highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely be back!
Late night drinks. Decent beer selection. Great service.
Vicky is an excellent bartender. Extremely sweet and helpful. Couldn’t ask for a better bartender. Excellent atmosphere.
Dropped by for wings and fries and both were delicious! Highly recommend. The vibe inside was cozy - will have to go back for a drink.
Great local spot with good comfort food!!! Bridget is the absolute best. She is always so nice and friendly when we go in, and she is always on top of whatever we need.
I am so grateful for this hidden gem. Jes, bridget, Linda and all of the staff THANK YOU for the best service! May the luck of the Irish bring you only happiness! Shar, Sean and Terry
The absolute hidden gem in Maspeth. The young lady who runs the entire bar and is the waitress , is charming with a wonderful personality and attentive to your needs. ( Makes a great Martini also) We have been there several times in the last two years and the food is exceptional and reasonable. I also want to congratulate the cook, who is exceptional. Lastly they now take Credit Cards. Good Food Great Drinks, Great Service. It's a Must for anyone looking for a nice time.
I have been there personally. The owner is a nice lady. She is Irish so she knows how to run a bar/grill. Food is also good
Courteous professional. Lorraine is the best. Never had a bad meal here and since the pandemic they're service is even better. Thank you to Lorraine and live oak for keeping me fed without gauging their prices. I've seen that going on in other restaurants and you guys haven't done that. You'll always be my go to. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sweet little place, always super clean and well lit. Great food! Really! Way beyond standard bar fare. They also have awesome bartenders. I am partial to Xee and Allison because I used to work with those superstars, but I have never gone in there and had a bad experience with any other staffer. I am reviewing now, however, because they are offering takeout during the quarantine, and I just wanted to thank them publicly for it. All the delivery guys have been so sweet, so kind, working in dangerous conditions but never letting it show in their attitude. The resilience and commitment is so admirable----I can't wait for all this to be over so Brandon and I can be jerks about the jukebox and drink with our maspeth buddies. It has renewed my commitment to spend money locally. Hang in there, Live Oak! We love you! Thank you, and be safe!
Everything from ordering our food to conversing with the waitress was very friendly. The food was delicious and good portions as well. The price for food and drinks was average for New York. Will go back again when we are in N Y.
This is a hidden gem. They have super crispy wings. It is the only place I order the wings with sauce on the side. The truth is they don't need sauce. If your into the protein meals their chicken or shrimp Chipotle skewers are the best. I struggle not to order weekly as there stuff is always fresh. Great chef and wonderful staff of your eating in at The Live Oak.
This place is awesome. Just recently moved to the neighborhood and from day one they treated me as if I been going for years. All the staff is super friendly, and have a great selection of food. Friday nights they have live music which is pretty great, and If you are into sports there is always somthing playing. Great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. It's an all around great bar.. Can't go wrong here
THIS PLACE IS CASH ONLY. Didn't know this before hand and saw nothing on the website that mentions it. Found out because only 1 menu had a piece of tape on it saying it. The waitress was very nice, friendly and quick to come over, take our order and bring our food. The fries were well down, crispy and hard. The pretzel was chewy and not very warm. But their beer battered chicken was great!!!! I would consider ordering again just for the chicken. Maybe I'll try something different next time.
Just tried to call and see what kind of beers they had on tap because my boss is super picky and we wanted to come here for our monthly meetings and she just told me to go online and look -____- like what if I cant? What if I’m driving? I have been a waitress before and you should always want to upsale and bring IN a customer. She SHOULD’VE mentioned the beers on tap on top of any happy hour hours! That’s what I would’ve done not direct me to the internet menu.. I called for a reason........
Ive been to this establishment twice. Both times the vibe was very “cliquey” unless you’re a regular don’t bother. Sad because this place is very close to me.
Came here twice. Once during covid. Once in 2022. I wanted to give a second chance- new season. The beer both times was flat. The vibe inside is unfriendly, and boring. Cash only, for flat beer. No Happy Hour, nothing interesting going on. Bad music, bad brews, full price, don’t recommend this place.
