It’s a beautiful place with good food and bar. The service was great, shoutout to Anji who served us. She was lovely.

Gabriel is amazing!! He was me and my friends’ waiter and he totally rocked it. I asked for lots of French fries and he gave me a whole plate of them!! When I tell you his my king, he really is. He went out of his way for my friend’s birthday! Give this man a raise!! Lastly, he saved the day when he found my friends card! My guy is a real one!!

Great tasting food!! Went again for crab cakes and was impressed with the size and flavor. Staff is super attentive and food comes out fast.

My wife and I dined at Matchbox, McLean this evening. While we always enjoy the food, the service has traditionally not been stellar. As a result, we do not visit Matchbox as much as we would like to. I am happy to report we had outstanding service tonight. Thank you, Darren, for making our experience so wonderful. Darren was friendly, personable, attentive (without being overbearing), proactive refilling our beverages, and displayed an upbeat/positive demeanor. We hope to see Darren, again, in the future.

Darren, our server, was amazing and elevated our dining experience. He was very friendly and attentive. Sunday brunch was good. Crispy fried catfish and creamy cheese grits. Hot, fresh, and delicious. Will be back!

Our excellent server, Juan, took great care of us. Everything was delicious & times perfectly. 10 out of 10 - would definitely come again & ask for Juan.

Had dinner with Darren the server. He was prompt, courteous, and fun. We will return. The restroo. Was clean, and food delivered quickly and SO Hot. We had chicken fettuccine and a half and half pizza 🍕

The food was amazing! Silvia offered us the special barbecue shrimp bowl, and we tried it and had wonderful taste! Totally recommend it!

This matchbox has been our chill spot every Friday. Juan was amazing tonight so I had to post. Food is always good and the vibe is always chill.

Dinned in with family, food was delicious and restaurant feels very clean and cozy. Service by Ivonne was pleasant, GM stopped by. very professionally chatted with us and made sure things are going well. Thank you for a great experience.

Angelica was my server today, and she was absolutely amazing! She had such great food recommendations, and she made sure our drinks were always refilled. She also created a really fun atmosphere. The music was great, especially after I had five mimosas. I had a wonderful time here!

Brunch was great today. It was a bit different today. We've always had a nice experience, and we're now regulars. Things didn't run as smoothly as we're used to. Chuck is always attentive and a great server. We'll be back because we enjoy the staff and the ambiance. Hopefully, the kitchen staff will make adjustments to maintain ticket times better.

We came in at about 11:20. It was very clean and the service was swift. The place has just opened so it was empty and we had practically no wait time. Our server was very attentive and the food was great.

Gabriel (from Colombia) was an excellent waiter with prompt service, a welcoming attitude, and willingness to work around our son‘s allergies.

I came to the McLean Matchbox location with a couple girlfriends, and the service was amazing. We got a truffle and mushroom pizza and the chicken Alfredo and they were both 10/10!! Our server was Darren, and he extremely attentive and made sure we had a good experience/great customer service. The manager gave us 2 desserts on the house and made us feel so comfortable and ensured that we had a great time. Definitely would come again!!!

We enjoyed a fantastic evening for dinner at the bar. The food and atmosphere are very nice but our server Ivonne was the element that made our experience. My wife and I arrived after a trying day with several setbacks and were just looking to have a quick bite and depart. Ivonne’s infectious positivity and hospitality inspired us to stay for a wonderful evening. I will now add Matchbox to my short list of go to cozy havens to spend a night in McLean. We had a great experience at Matchbox! The food were amazing, and everything came out fresh and hot. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, perfect for a night out. A special thank you to Gabriel, our server, who was outstanding! He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. His great attitude really made our visit even better. Definitely recommend this place and will be coming back soon!

One of the nicest restaurants in McLean for a casual meal with an array of selections. One of the new entrees is veal scallopini and it was excellent. Chicken very tender, moist and covered with tomatoes, artichokes, and mushrooms in a light lemon sauce. They also do a great job with salmon.

This is a very nice, reasonably priced neighborhood restaurant. We’ve been there many times and have always been impressed with the quality of food and service. Our server, Darren, did an exceptionally nice job tonight—courteous, efficient & professional. The bar is nice too. I highly recommend this place.

I had a great lunch here including the fast service. I dined at the bar & appreciate the additional happy hour specials that were available. Unfortunately, they ran out of the sticky ribs that I wanted so I got the flatbread & brussel sprouts which were delicious. There was ample free parking in the shopping plaza lot. I would recommend & look forward to my next Matchbox visit.

Gabriel was a fantastic waiter. He was friendly and responsive. Even to my kids when they requested dough and he had the kitchen cook it for them. Tonight reminds me of how important it is to have a great neighborhood go to spot for a family.

Great food in a casual atmosphere. Servers are usually great and efficient. Just had dinner here and our server Gabriel was fabulous. It is not a cheap meal by any means, but good quality, fresh, easy and fun.

Did the $35 unlimited brunch today too start off Mother’s Day with a party of 6 and it’s honestly unbeatable….. this is coming from a dmv food critic who eats all over and loves good food. We started with 1 of everything for the appetizers and everything was good except the burgers. As for food we tried almost everything it’s just that I noticed once we left they never brought the catfish out. Service started rocky as we sat for about 15 minutes today before anybody came to greet us but it evened out. $300 for a total of 6 people and we ordered back to back all we could eat until stuffed and the food was actually fresh and of good quality. I definitely would return and definitely recommend checking it out . I do think regular drink beverages should be free with the unlimited food $5 per drink is ehhh. So just drink water is what I would say. Buttermilk biscuits- 8/10 (cooked a little bit much) Cinnamon rolls- 10/10 Cesar salad- 8/10 (not enough dressing initially) Spinach dip- 1000/10 very very delicious and the garlic bread was absolutely the best with it! Old bay wings with ranch- 9/10 Buffalo wings- 7/10 (need more spice lol) Chicken and waffles- 8.5/10 Hot honey pepperoni pizza - 1000/10 the best item!!!! Hands down Burger sliders- 0/10 not well done and didn’t taste like actual premium burger meat at all.

Pizza was pretty tasty. Rigatoni with fennel is good too. S’mores dessert is huge and just mid.

Second time getting matchbox in McLean, this time takeout. Last time dining I was waiting for extended periods of time for a waiter, which was frustrating. I think from both experiences I felt that the food was over salted, but still a solid restaurant with good food.

Food was great. We had unlimited brunch. I took points away from the service because I was tricked into getting drinks. Maybe our server was new, but it was our 1st time there and I was told I had to drink if my son wanted to drink. We thought we were getting unlimited $1 refills after paying $8 for the 1st drink. When I asked for the check, the drinks were $80 alone. Mind u, I didn't plan to drink, smh

We had a wonderful time at Matchbox on Saturday thanks to Darren. He was very attentive and made sure all of our needs were met. He constantly provided us refills with our drinks and took our orders very quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a great all you can eat brunch place!

This Matchbox place is great! Not as busy as the one in Mosaic District, but good and service are the same! Our server today Darren is very good and efficient, and remembers us from previous visits. However, I do notice they sometimes have very new servers who do not know how to do things (such as applying the member points). I like their other servers who have been here for a while.

First time here at MatchBox…visiting from New Orleans. Server, Charles (Chuck), was absolutely amazing despite the constant food and drink mixups, inconsistency in time as well and our frustration with the lack of quality customer service from kitchen and other wait staff. My husband and I will be back to visit family here in DC and would love to give MatchBox another to chance to do better. CeeBee NOLA

The Brunch is now $42 per person. Comparatively, other area brunch's offer a greater variety of food for less. The food was good, but other than the brunch pizza, nothing great. We love Matchbox but next time we'll stick with the pizza. It's their signature food, always great, and much less expensive.

I've been to the McLean Matchbox now half a dozen times, and although I have never had a solid 5-star experience there, the burgers and pizza are good enough to keep coming back. Last Thursday, for our kids' anniversary, we had dinner here, and I had one of the worst restaurant meals ever. I chose the Faroe Island salmon on a bed of vegetables. It was horrible: dried out frozen salmon, tomatoes, raw corn and red onions cut in large chunks on a schmeer of some green oil that tasted rancid. I would have returned it, but our waiter was so ornery and scary that the kids begged me not to rock the boat and to avoid agitating him (he was upset because my husband asked for no ice in his water). That's not customer service, and I don't like being made to feel uncomfortable or fearful.

Place had a slight sports bar vibe but the Food was ok despite the pizza being thin crust. I guess that’s their signature baking style. Server was excellent. Took off one star because nobody at the restaurant acknowledged the two birthdays we were celebrating. I guess this isn’t a birthday place. Overall we walked away satisfied.

Unfortunately over 1 years since the opening of the place I'm deeply disappointed place has a great potential but the food quality is not the best and this and the atmosphere. Had the food it's mediocre I try some pizzas and they were undercooked inside probably quality of ingredients and also we try the spare ribs and the glaze the sauce was just too sweet overwhelming and you cannot feel the quality you cannot taste the meat at all new wine silver price and mediocre selection so overall it is another chain restaurant with people on top have no clue about selection of the wine and the TV only sports like you know we cannot see the news what's going on in the world or put the cooking channel why do I have to be forced to watch the sports all the time there was a concert back at 30 years ago champions sports bar if you want to watch sport you go to sports bar but this restaurant you know it's in McLean so it's not only for the people watch sport all the time then I go to bathroom and you have a 10 seconds faucet why don't you change in Virginia we have plenty of water we don't need to have a limitation how you can wash your hands if the faucet stops the water stops every 10 seconds

I normally don’t leave reviews for poor service, but I felt compelled to share our recent experience. My husband and I had visited this location a few months ago and were impressed. The food was delicious, which is why we decided to return yesterday to celebrate our son’s 18th birthday. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete letdown. The biscuits arrived barely warm, the pasta had an odd taste, and the chicken was rubbery. The only dishes we somewhat enjoyed were the Caesar salad and a couple of the pizzas oh and the taco bar was decent. Our server was kind and attentive, and I did express our concerns to her. I asked to speak with the manager, but he never came to our table. I didn’t want to create a scene, so we let it go at the time, but after spending almost $400 on a disappointing meal, I regret not pushing harder for a conversation. What’s most frustrating is that this review could have been avoided had the manager simply come by to acknowledge our concerns. Sadly, due to the poor food quality and lack of accountability from management, we won’t be returning.

I hate to be that person truly. The server was so sweet, but the food is just not good. Same as 5 years ago. Nothing seems to have changed. The pizza just tasted worse and worse with every bite. I don’t think my stomach should be feeling this way right now lol. I’m having really bad acid reflux and I don’t even have acid reflux.

Empire strikes back at Matchbox. This was our 4th visit to this location. When we arrived, the restaurant had a few guests already. We asked for a quiet booth and were seated at a booth on the far right side. It took 10 minutes for us to get an ice tea and a glass of water. We noticed that the menu had been updated since our previous visit. We ordered our appetizers, mini-burgers under a tower of fried string onion rings and mussels in white wine sauce. As a new item, the kitchen needs practice on cooking mussels. Sauce was good but mussels were over cooked and the bread was absent until requested. Dinner went downhill from here. Our entrees were the seared tuna salad and the shrimp linguini. We never got the seared tuna salad. The waiter mistakenly ordered the salmon salad. The manager did come by and apologized for the waiter’s error, commenting that it was a new menu. He asked what we wanted to do and we told him we would accept the salmon salad because we didn’t want to wait another 15 minutes for the seared tuna salad and the shrimp linguini to get colder. The menu description of the shrimp linguini was so beautiful I knew I had to have it. Boy, was the menu description wrong. The portion size was small for the price. When you finish a pasta dish, it is not unusual to soak up the remaining sauce with the bread. Regrettably, the sauce was so salty it was inedible. You will be safe to order simply things in this restaurant like burgers and pizza. Other than these, this kitchen is not capable of executing anything more complicated. They certainly are missing experienced adult supervision.
