Trevino's Mexican Restaurant Merced Reviews
Very cool place with great food great service and beautiful art. Will definitely go there again and I highly recommend for some great Mexican food.
Great food. The Chile rellano is excellent. The menudo is dam good and they serve pata as well. Excellent carnitas.
Food was excellent, service was great. Never had a bad meal or service there.
Best Mexican food I have ever had! We just got back from puerta viarta mexico and could not find Mexican food even close to trevinos. My husband and I always get the shredded beef Alex senior burito and share it and get the diablo (spicy salsa) on the side. Even though we share the burito it is so big there is always food leftover. We also get their homemade horchata and flour tortillas with butter on the side which is also the best. All around the best Mexican food around. I can't say enough about this place!!
Delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly service.
Great tasting food. Plenty for leftovers.
The food is always delicious, and a really good value. Staff is friendly and attentive
The best chicken fajitas! Our family has never been disappointed in their food! Packed house last night, so happy to see things getting better and people starting to go out more! 💙
Love the food, great service and locally owned. My soda never ran empty and I was never without beer. Molcajete meal is the most glorious looking and greatest tasting thing ever
It was absolutely delicious, I went a few months ago when I hit one year clean from S.H. , it was the first time going there, the staff was very kind and helpful.
Nice portions of food to one customer. Great atmosphere and staff. Recommend for business meetings as well. Just relax and enjoy the service
No complaints, place seemed kinda empty for Thursday night but the food was cooked perfectly. One of the best places I've ate some Mexican food.
OMG 😲. Ordered the wet burrito to-go for lunch. Soooooo good. I cant stop thinking about it hahaha.. laying in bed cant sleep, too excited ill be in merced tomorrow and will definitely get another. Trevinos is definitely my go to restaurant. Good service, quick as well. Bomb chips and salsa 😋
Excellent food and they are so nice! Really attentive and friendly service. It's easy when passing through to give in to the tall, grabby signage of the various fast food offerings right off the freeway, but if you venture just a block or two farther you'll be rewarded with Trevino's. This will definitely be a regular destination for me! We had the pollo con hongos and the barbacoa lunch specials. Both were great. Tortillas and everything made from scratch, too.
Love their service the indoors is open, out side is avabile. Drinks were perfect. The cook was on spot with my chil reano, beans were perfect for those home made warm torties. The chips are served warm with salsa. Everything is So fresh
OMG.... Have never eaten here before. Not since I knew it as Keno's. Old school Era. It was the best Mexican food I have had in a long time. I mean a long time... I had chili Verde and the others had chili Colorado and it was slap your knee delicious. Excellent refried beans, homemade tortillas, and fresh fresh food. Compliments to the chef and great customer service. 👌 Delicious and worth trying ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
They're chile verde delicious. I get it everytime i go there! Pretty much everything there is great!
I spent 5 months in Mexico and this is most delicious and most authentic Mexican food in the States!! It is by far the best restaurant I've ever been to in a very long time! EVERYTHING is homemade and so fresh! You must try the flour tortillas! The rice and beans are addictive! The staff is so friendly and the service is fast! Highly recommend!
I love their Shrimp of the Devil! They have really good beans and rice too. Homemade flour tortillas. So good! They have set up for outside dining and all employees are wearing masks.
We come here about once a week and are never disapointed! Wonderful food and the best customer service. Wide variety of items on the menu, something for everyone! I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
I had the chili Colorado, flavor was excellent and their corn tortillas are house made, delicious! Salsa is chunky and not too hot. Service was also on point. Definitely will return.
The food was great, the staff was great. It was my first visit but it won't be my last.
Excellent service! Great food! Highly recommend.
Wonderful family owned restaurant, the food was fantastic, fresh, and flavorful. 10/10 recommend
Took my cousin's to eat lunch, pleasant atmosphere and the service was great.Food portions were just enough and served quickly once we were seated. Waitress was very attentive and very polite. Will definitely return.
From the moment we stepped in, to the time we left all the staff was very friendly and extremely attentive. After we were seated we were notified that there would be a longer than usual wait time for the food. However, the staff continued to check on us and give us updates. When we finally received our food it was well worth the wait. Our food was served hot and well-seasoned. If you enjoy well-balanced and spicy I highly recommend choosing the Pollo al diablo. The layers of flavor they accomplished was outstanding. When I ate at this establishment over 2 years ago I was not impressed . I would not have given it the five stars that it now deserves. The staff is outstanding, the food is delicious. Other establishments in the Merced area should take note.
It's the best place ever the food is wonderful everywhere else in Merced is no comparison they are top notch
I’m so genuinely happy to write this review. Lol We’ve lived in Merced for 7 years and this was our first time here. I’m sad it’s taken so long to give it a try because it was really such such fantastic food. I got the fajita burrito (beef), it was so full of meat and delicious veggies! It was so simple, yet so delicious. My husband got the chili verde burrito. I tried some and it was also really tasty! Service was a little slow, but we weren’t in a hurry so it wasn’t a huge deal. After we ordered our food came out rather quickly. The staff was also very attentive and kind.
Trevino's is a great family owned restaurant conveniently located in the heart of downtown. For years, the Trevino family has been providing this community with delicious Mexican meals. The service is very helpful, the atmosphere is really nice and welcoming.
If your looking for some good authentic Mexican food then here's your place. The customer service here is amazing and the staff make you feel at home. The food is very good. My family and I are huge fans of chili verde and let me tell you!! Trevino's always knocks it out of the park. The service you'll get here is exceptional. The pricing here is affordable. This is definitely the place to bring you, your family & friends.
Enjoyed a Molcajete and a few Long Island Iced Teas at Trevino’s last night in Merced. Everything was delicious.
Service was quick and staff were super friendly and attentive. I enjoyed a delicious Carnitas Burrito and left happy and full. I was surprised with how empty it was, because the atmosphere is great and the food is too!
The food was amazing. The service was outstanding. I really enjoyed the artwork on the walls
For over 15 years my family and I have enjoyed this restaurant and their delicious menu. From their Enchiladas to their BIG Alex Sr. Burrito, nothing on the menu has disappointed us. My favorite dishes have always been their Pollo En Su Crema, Alex Sr. Burrito, and as of late, the Delilah plate (D16). The flavor of the rice is on point, not too bland and not too overpowered, the chicken or steak is always cooked right, the flavors of the salsas and sauces combined with the cheeses they use make this place the perfect selection for your next outing. If you love cream chicken, the Pollo En Su Crema is for you, if you love a huge burrito, then the Alex Sr. It is, but if you love shrimp and chicken and want something on the spicy side, then the Delilah plate is what you need to get. We made our own creation, we put the Delilah plate inside the Alex Sr. Burrito and covered it with the Delilah sauce and topped it with cheese...THIS is my new go to, and I can't wait to go back and have it again. If you're on the fence, since there's plenty of Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from, trust me - don't pass this place up. At Trevino's, you're always treated like family and always leave happy.
Very pleasant atmosphere, polite staff, and the food tasted great. I will definitely come back again.
An impromptu meal to celebrate our grandmother/mom. Forever in our hearts 💕 Memories and laughter will always bind us together ❤️ #Abuela
Huge portion of excellent Barbacoa Beef. Wow really great.

Excellent service! Great food! Highly recommend.
The food was great, the staff was great. It was my first visit but it won't be my last.
Food is great. Very friendly staff. Would eat there again and again.
Really good food, large portions. Had a waiter-in-training, but no complaints. Love the interior decorations.
Nice quick lunch. The taco salads were great and the lunch special not so special. Overall it was good for the price.
Food was very goo's. Service was very slow 🐌
Food is fire, but had to wait a looong time today! Not usually like that tho. Great place to eat!
Great service with a cool environment. Trevino's has been around for a while. Food is pretty good.
This place is a nice Mexican restaurant in downtown Merced. The staff was helpful and nice, the food was really good, and the prices are acceptable! Not much more you could ask for!
Used to come here all the time. They are authentic Mexican food. I love getting their barbacoa, camarones a la diabla, and their huraches. This place is delicious. The staff are really friendly.
Great Customer service. Food was good. A bit pricey but On Tuesdays they have 2 for thirty.
Nothing at all wrong with Travinos I wanted to give five across the board, however I'm not gunna lie to a place I want to get better. My motivations are selfish, I'm human. Hahah -- food is off the charts, at least the L7 and D7 with extra crema sauce, extra grilled onion and some of there rice and beans on a fresh tortilla chip... Whoooo boy. Too bad they don't take food stamps. (J/king) lol Go, try the L7 and a bucket of chips. You can ask for cabbage salsa and sometimes they have it other times you'll wish they did. Try it. One of my favorites in Merced County.
As usual, a great meal. The good people at Trevino's give you plenty to eat at a fairly reasonable price. Friendly wait staff and pleasant surroundings. Overall, a great dining experience.
Food was good, but as they are really short staffed you will need to cut them some slack on promptness. As of Aug 2021, they are only open for lunch. Hope they are able to get back to their regular hours soon.
They have good food and great service. The tortillas are fabulous. My family is used to Texmex and I would say this is more authentic mexican food. Just a bit different than what we are used to but still delicious.
We visit Treviño's semi-regularly after church on Sundays. Have been pretty bummed out with these depressing closures but in doing their best to keep folks safe, they are serving their delicious food again! Enjoyed a date with my spouse today, sans kids, after church. Almost felt like old times!
Last week was my first time eating here the prices i would say are a lil high but worth it. i loved it such good food love the paintings love the environment and surroundings . And excellent music choice i will be coming back for more ❤️
Best most authentic Mexican food in Merced hands down homemade tortillas flour or corn best chips and salsa ever! It's in a nice location in downtown Merced the building fits the mood! Besides Moms kitchen this place has the best Mexican food ..Teri is the best waitress ever!
Probably the best Mexican food in merced. Great service, food is great and prices are reasonable.
1st time eating here the Male host gave the best service I've had in a Mexican restaurant EVER, he brought out 7samples for my girl nd I to try before ordering. He literally let us sample the full menu!👍
Stopped for lunch and it was a good experience, overall. Slow service in the bar during lunch, but once I ordered, all was well. Hot chips and very good salsa, for starters. Ordered the tostada plate with shredded beef, rice and beans and it was very good, and filling! Reasonably priced for lunch: $9.95. Only slight negative was that I ordered a margarita which was prepared in the backroom (rather than the bar). Clearly pre-mixed but kept at room temperature and poured into a glass that was also stored at room temperature, so it was warm when it arrived. Luckily, the ice chilled it quickly and, once chilled, it was actually quite good and was served in a nice sized margarita glass (not one of those puny things you get elsewhere). Good price for a nice sized margarita: $6.50. My only suggestion here would be to chill both the mix and the glass - the mix itself is very good. I would go back for sure - lots of things on the menu that I want to try!
They have a great menu of quick lunch items. I had the carne asada. It could have used a bit more spice, but it was good and fresh. They make their tortillas fresh, corn and flower. Steak came with refried beans and Mexican rice with tortillas.
I really like this restaurant. The food was good but the service is sometimes slow. We had 4 people in our party and the youngest kid had to wait the longest for her food. I always think the kids should be served first
Trevino’s for Mexican food and overall everything was great the service was friendly, the food was flavorful, and the portions were generous. The only thing that didn’t quite hit the mark was the rice, which was a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the meal. Other than that, it was a solid experience and I’d definitely come back to try more dishes.
We had the meatball soup and chimichanga; both were tasty. The margarita was very good. I like spicy salsa, so that's what was lacking for me. The service was great.
Food was excellent. Service and experience was rushed with a smile.
Customer service has always been excellent when I've gone here.

The food here is amazing. Service was ok. Brought us minimal chips at arrival. Forgot sour cream, had to remind them, but the atmosphere is calm, but stale. Too hot, empty, and awkward. And lastly, what is the deal with these restaurants in merced closing early on the weekends? I dont understand that. 😕
Visited Trevino's over the years sporadically. Food wait time can vary from 15 to 40 minutes. Food is generally good and have never had a problem with taste, temperature or freshness.
Food was Kinda average, service was meh. Clean dining room.
Went for a night out with friends. Had a margarita and one fish taco and the cost was $15.00. Pretty expensive, and service was bad.... Waited forever for one fish taco, and they weren't even busy...!!!
The food was ok for the price. For what we paid you could get better tasting food for a cheaper price at some food trucks. The wait service was ok in response but friendly.
I did not stay to eat, picked up a take out order but the food was delicious. It was my first time there, place was pretty spacious. I think I would have enjoyed the meal there had I stayed.
Dishes was short of traditional spices and ingredients.. They didnt have salsas. They pointed to the table and said thats all they have as far as hot sauce... 3 stars for the portion of food..
Have a nice sized large party dining area. Service is okay. Peruano beans are prwtty good. Carne is a touch too salty a d taste pre-frozen. Wacky decor but nice aroma. Also heard that they have a bed and breakfast and rent room.
Delicious food, seemed a bit over done, flavor was very good. Excellent service.
It was okay. Service is mediocre, my chili Verde was bland but the guacamole and salsa were good. So were the homemade tortillas. They need to replace the torn up $10 shower curtain between the bar and the kitchen. It's filthy and gross looking which makes me question the state of the kitchen. Something that would take a few minutes and very little money should be taken care of.
Our party was pretty big. Took forever to get a cup of coffee....server kept coming back to go over our orders guess she was confused I don't know and it literally took over an hour for two people in our party to get their food so by the time they started eating we were already done. I ordered chorizo was a bit too spicy for my taste but the rice, beans and tortillas were really good.
Very average food “ small portions” no side salad or garnish” one waitress older women not professional three times fail” will not eat here again” who has ever heard of serving chili Rellano dry” the waiter ask you what kind of sauce you want. Maybe they are racist” every color creed deserves respect and good service. 17.00 bucks for grilled cheese rice and 1 oz ‘ beans Nope!
I recently visited a Mexican restaurant with a pleasant environment, but unfortunately, my experience was not up to par. The staff was friendly, but our party of 9 was seated at a dirty table with food remnants still on the chairs. The food was overpriced for the small portions served, with one taco costing $18. Additionally, my fajita was burnt on the chicken. Overall, while the atmosphere was nice, the cleanliness issues and overpricing were disappointing.
Nice place for lunch, food is pretty decent but nothing special just heated up in the microwave oven. The tortillas are homemade, which makes a big difference! They used to have a 2 for $20 deal on Tuesdays but not anymore. I heard they're doing 2 for $30 now but it's a pretty pointless promo imo as most of the menu is around the $15 range anyways.
Place needs a serious make over. It looks like 1983 inside this place. Margarita tasted like pure Tequlla and lime juice. I was seriously buzzing before my food arrived .Kids running around everywhere….think The workers don’t have babysitters so they bring their kids to work ? Food is meh. Won’t be back .
Food was overpriced. Albondiga soup was bland. I had to ask for garnishes that come automatically at other Mexican restaurants. Had to ask for lemons, chopped cilantro, and onions. Than added salsa to give it more flavor. My kids cheeseburger and fries were 8 bucks. The only thing that was good was the homemade tortillas and salsas. Bit beware they ask if you want a refill but don't tell you it's an extra charge. Also the place is huge but only one stall for men's and women's bathroom. 2 kids meals, one soda, albondiga soup and a chimichanga cost us 50 bucks. Thank God I don't live in California was just passing through.
Food was really good but the waitress was very very bad. Told me my food was next and "coming right out" then within 30 minutes had delivered food to various other tables. Now, I'm not impatient, but don't tell m my food is coming right up when it obviously isn't even started. Also, she asked twice if I wanted a refill, but neglected to inform me I'd be paying for each refill. In my opinion, refills should be free if I'm waiting 30 minutes for my food. Then asked for a to-go cup with ice and witnessed her scratching her head with the same hand she was holding my cup. Kinda gross lol
Didn't enjoy it...not alot of flavor. Service wasn't that great...I had to wave someone down just to get more water. My cup had been empty awhile.
There are 2 entrances, back and front and they both lead to the center, the art is beautiful but the ceiling with the chandelier you do not want to sit under it, it looks like a bad leak happened and it may fall. The food was bland, the taco shells were pre-made looked like taco bell shells, sad as it is a mexican restaurant, the rice and beans were tasteless and the drink my brother ordered had so much alcohol it was 3 drinks in one so maybe if u day drinking 😜.

I'll never go back there again. I ordered the Paquito burrito and in the menu it says it comes with melted cheese and red sauce when they brought it to me there was no cheese or red sauce I asked the girl about it she went and asked someone else I was very upset so I waited to calm down then I asked for a menu and there it was so I told the waitress and she ask the other waitress that took my order and she said I didn't order that so I told her oh really is that why you repeated my order back to me and I told you yes the paquito burrito so they asked if I wanted them to add cheese and red sauce they did but it was awful I didn't eat it or get a to go box I should have known when they brought the salsa n chips or should I say tomato sauce and chips.
Food sucked I can cook better food at home. No salsa for the food or tacos no guacamole ever . this is fake Mexican food. I think I would consider eating here if it where the last place in town even then I would considerably considered it. Would not recommend this place even to my enemies.
I only gave one star because there is not a 0 star button.Food sucks!!! Only thing worth a damn there is there chips and salsa!! Oh and make sure you bring your i.d if you are going to order an adult beverage because they carded me but then let a underage daughter of waitress assist and served my husband his adult beverage!!!
Sorry to do this but by far the worst mexican restaurant. Though the waitress was nice, the food lacked flavor. Ordered crunchy tacos, kid you not. Looked just like tacobell hard tacos. The salsa was more of a pico de gallo. No heat what's so ever. If you are looking for actual mexican food this is not the place!
Truly a horrible experience at every turn. The service was nonexistent, the food was a disappointment. The drinks were watery. I took my friend there to celebrate his birthday. I was deeply embarrass will never go there again.
Food was not it whatsoever and the service rude service didn’t want to refill my drinks because they said 2 refills is enough
Ordered outside with family. ,we waited a long time for food. Terrible, Ended up taking order home.My bill was $17 total for a soda and small nasty chili relleno meal. Looks like a kids meal.Watery refried beans, dry rice, No green sauce on chilli. Tastes old and rotten. Had to throw away whole meal.
I've been eating at Trevino's off and on for years, but today was my last visit. The service was atrocious. Our waitress took 20 minutes to take our order and then served other tables who came in long after us, while we were still sitting there waiting for our food. She even brought another table OUR LUNCH and we still waited 10 minutes after that to get served. Our waitress didn't bother to bring us our check either, although she brought other customers who came in after us their checks. We were there over an hour for lunch, most of it spent eating stale chips and waiting for our waitress.... The food is good for Merced, otherwise this place deserves -5 for the service.
Horrible food and terrible customer service! I ordered a Chile relleno and got a ball of grease, the Chile relleno looked and tasted like it was microwaved and days old! The rice portion is ridiculous! Like feeding a baby! The restaurant is all dusty and old! The only good thing is the chips and salsa! They need to remodel this place and start serving fresh food and better customer service!
When places look like a dump on the outside i am still willing to give it a try. The musk odor of the restaurant hits upon opening the door. How the hell does this past inspection? Walked in and out. Lost my appetite for Mexican food immediately. The smell of the restaurant lingers in my nose for a 2 minutes.
A cockroach ran across my arm. Never will go back.
The food was definitely not authentic. Put it this way, their idea of crunchy tacos is store bought Ortega like shells, taco salad, the bottom fell out because the salad they used was water logged. Salsa was very mild, like mild hot sauce with tomatoes added. Service staff didn’t bother with answering questions, caring or even brining the check, after asking three times. Three of us ate, three of us agreed. Maybe people that don’t know authentic and don’t like spice would say it was so-so. Those of us that have eaten authentic and spiced Mexican food say definite NO. The tacos and taco salad on the side of a box of crunchy Ortega taco shells and bowls would look better than the tacos and taco salad here so, didn’t bother taking pictures..
The restaurant is extremely unclean. Dirty floors, old and dirty carpet, unsanitary restrooms and dirty black marks all over the doors and restroom walls. Horrible low lighting. The Servers are inattentive. The food is low quality. Overly expensive and not worth the amount that is charged. Horrible. It is so dirty and never cleaned. The entire place needs to be redone and updated. A deep cleaning is needed.
