A beautiful restaurant with a small museum of food attached. I ordered the longaniza de valladoid which were nicely cooked and spiced, served with a tomato salsa, tortillas and onion. My only constructive criticism is that a little bit more sausage for the price would have been appreciated. Impeccable service.

Amazing New Year’s Eve dinner. We were served incredibly by Marcos our server that evening . I think this is the best regional food in Merida. Cooked the old fashioned way and with layers of flavor. I come here every visit - it’s a must go. I would give it 6 stars if I could.

Went for breakfast as it was the only available time in the booking system on such short notice (big plus for online booking availability). The food was amazing, I had Huevos Divorciados. Vegetarian options are available. The place itself is really nice, totally recommend. The staff was so-so, when we initially mentioned we only wanted drinks they seemed a bit disappointed and disengaged and the food took a while to arrive. However, I would recommend the place for the amazing food.

A great place for Yucatecan food in Mérida if you’re looking for an elevated fine dining experience. The staff was very friendly and explained all the dishes with patience, the restaurant in a renovated old mansion and the decor is on point with great choice of seating both indoors and outdoors. The Aqua Fresca & Iced Tea was incredible as well!

This is one of the best meals you'll ever have. Poc-chuc is incredible. I could eat here every day for the rest of my life. If you like Mexican food, you'll like this place. If you love Mexican food, you'll love this place.

The museum is a free little experience to learn about the culture. Be sure to check out the huts out back. The food was good and had a traditional feel.

An outstanding dinner experience for anyone seeking truly authentic regional cuisine, though in Mérida, authenticity seems to be the standard everywhere you go. From the moment you arrive, the setting is warm and inviting, almost transporting you back in time. We started with the panuchos and pimitos, which were the perfect way to open a great gastronomic experience. For me, the Pollo Pibil was the standout dish, distinctive, beautifully prepared, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The lechon al horno was equally impressive, and squeezing the (sour) orange over the dish brought all the flavors together. For us, overall, was a wonderful, memorable, and very satisfying dining experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mérida who wants to experience regional cuisine at its best.

At Mugy, Yucatecan classics are treated with the kind of quiet respect that suggests lineage, not trend-chasing. The cochinita pibil is all citrus and smoke, pork pulled into tender submission, wrapped in that unmistakable achiote warmth that tastes like early mornings and buried pits, lifted just enough by pickled onion to keep it honest. And then there’s the relleno negro: a deep, inky bowl of controlled darkness, turkey and pork swimming in a sauce so complex and ancient it feels ceremonial, anchored by a dumpling of masa and the steady presence of a hard-boiled egg. This is food that doesn’t explain itself and doesn’t need to. Mugy doesn’t shout. It remembers. And in Mérida, that might be the highest compliment you can give.

We've eaten at and recommended MUGY for many, many clients. It continues to be one of our favorite, authentic Yucatecan restaurants in the city. We also HIGHLY recommend visiting the gift shop to learn more about the different types of local seeds, beans, and peppers. The complex flavors of Yucatecan cuisine are made even more delicious by learning the different components, flavors, and spices that go into each dish. This particular day, we took clients in so they could learn more about food preparation, spices, and cooking techniques. They loved going in to each of the huts in the back to enjoy different smells and descriptions of the recado seasonings and to watch the ladies making tortillas from scratch. HIGHLY recommended for an enjoyable meal and/or to learn more about Yucatecan cooking!

Fantastic and delicious local cuisine! If you come for 3pm you can experience how they cook the meat underground like a tandoori and they offer you a bit as well ! Portion sizes are really good and try the desserts especially the papaya !

An extraordinarily unique experience that combines elegant seating in the middle of a beautiful hacienda with an attached museum and show of how cochinita pebil is made at 3pm.

The moment I arrived I was greeted with such great joy. Food was incredibly delicious and the drinks were also great but strong! My server was incredibly informative about everything and made the best recommendations to me as I was on my own but still wanted a variety of foods to try. The pumpkin dip (kind of like hummus) was incredible!!

Everything was amazing and I would even say that this restaurant has the potential to be Michelle recommended. The dishes were beautiful and the tasty. The tortillas chips could use some more love however. The servers explained the dishes in detail and were fast.

Great atmosphere and background music. Wonderful customer service. Traditional Yucatán flare entrees but seemed same as any of the local restaurants, nothing special. Vegetarian options available with nice presentation but with lack of flavor. YET, Best tres leches ever had!

The place is incredibly pretty and food isn’t as at all, but it’s not incredibly either. It is still a must go if you’re in Merida. A lot of traditional options and the service is great. You can get a good reference of what your experience in Merida will be like, by having food here on the first day of your trip.

Came here as I read and watched amazing reviews about the food. Sadly, my partner and I were disappointed with the quality of the food ( especailly at a higher price point ) and felt they could’ve put more time and effort into creating something really unique and delicious. Was also really put off by the waiter asking about tips. Not everyone that visits is from the US! The only positive aspect would be the beautiful interior and plants decorating the space. I'm afraid this would be considered a tourist trap ...

We usually go to Museum of Yucateca Gastronomy (MUGY) once or twice a year with our guests We took our friends there a few Fridays ago. This place is still popular among tourists and some locals. We went there without a reservation, and the host told us that it would be over an hour to wait...we decided to wait anyway, after 20 mins our name was called and we got a table. Four of us, we ordered six dishes, which included Pollo Pibil, Camaron Mugy (two dishes that we always order whenever we come here and they were delicious) Dogfish Empanadas (no one liked it..fishy smell) Chicharra (which was ok..not much of taste..so bland) Pumpkins soup (which was not too bad) and Regional Sample which came with four small different kinds of dishes to make our own tacos ( all four dishes tasted the same) We know that we come here for the ambience not for the food. No doubt, this place has a beautiful setting...just too bad that there are only a few dishes to our liking. At the end of the meal, we asked our friends to rate the food, and every one agreed to give two out of five, but the ambience was five out of five. The total bill included food, two juices, one soda and one beer and the tip was about 3,200 pesos

The food was decent and looked great in photos, but the taste didn’t quite match the presentation. Service was disappointing—staff seemed inattentive and not very helpful. Overall, dining here was underwhelming. The only highlight is the location.

Food was good. But waiters need education if you want to advertise as your self as "restaurant of gastronomy". They are keep watching tables from behind of customer and keep waiting until they find an empty dish. This felt like very uncomfortable, and someone was keep watching me during my whole meal. Some of waiters were talking in the middle of tables. I understand they can have a rest but if you have nothing to do, just go back to your position and talk there. I couldn't focus on my meal during my whole dining. And even I was eating, waiters came to me and asked me if I want to remove those dishes bloody 4 times! Did they want me to leave as soon as possible? Idk, services of this place is almost same level of taquerias outside. I'll not come back here again.
