South Beach Munchies Miami Reviews
Really fantastic place for a wide variety of Latin dishes! And the prices are super affordable. If you're attending an event at the Miami Convention center and are looking for authentic food with choices other than overpriced food carts, then check this place out. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The only downside is the persistent flying rats (aka pigeons) that jump all over the tables, so make sure you its clean and dont leave your food unattended!
After a lot of walking and wanting to find a local spot for empanadas, Google brought me here and then I saw the roast pork being ordered so I got in the sandwich form a real cubano , and the Inca Kola was highly recommended a real Peruvian drink very similar to champagne cola. Both definitely a must and I'll be back one more time before I leave. The employees are a treat as well!
Amazing Latin store. I got the guava and cream cheese pastry, the arepas, with fresh squeezed orange juice and I have never been happier. Great location close to the 3rd stop on the Big Bus Tour. This place made me wish I was local so I could eat here all the time.
I was so happy I found this place during my stay in South Beach! I checked out many Cuban/Latin menus around the area to find the most authentic food, the best coffee, and the least “touristy” spot- Munchies was all 3! It felt like a hidden gem off the main street of Collins Ave. I wish I would have discovered Munchies on the first day of my trip because I would have dined there everyday. Yes, be prepared for pigeons staring at you- they are all over Miami- tables were cleaned very quickly and it felt very sanitary. Also the ladies behind the counter were very sweet! This place was BUSY and they kept the long line organized and going. I can’t wait to dine here again during my next South Beach stay!
Authentic and delicious Cuban food!!! And a great variety of Latin American empanadas.
The food here is excellent, and the staff is very welcoming. I tried the Greek omelette and it was delicious, and my wife had the croissant breakfast sandwich also amazing. We also had the detox power juice and it was so refreshing.
Surprisingly ecxellent small diner! Philly cheestake+fries+soda total 14usd, and dish is large for me. Ill be back :) gracias
We went to Munchies in South Beach twice over our four day trip to Miami. Although there are many chain fast food restaurants in South Beach, we wanted to try something more local, and Munchies did not disappoint. Munchies has great empanadas (we tried Venezuelan beef, Columbian chicken, and Columbian beef), and I had by far the best chicken Caesar salad I've had in YEARS. Portion sizes are also very generous given the prices. Friendly staff and service.
Damn…. Munchies is on point! Everything on the menu is delicious 🤤. Drinks are fresh and environment is friendly. Except that you have to fight the birds sometimes to stay away from your table. But it’s South Beach and it’s expected.
I've been in Miami Beach for 2 days now and this is the best food I've had yet. Plus it's more vegetarian friendly than most of the other places around here! I'm definitely coming back before I leave!
Outstanding food and service. They took such good care of me while I was visiting from out of the area. Amazing food for a great price! Next time I am in town, I'll be back! UPDATE: I came back a year later and it's still awesome!
The food at this place is amazing!!! The staff is so friendly. Pastor is always so nice and takes care of us with everything we need. I come out from Detroit for this place and I go everyday when I’m in town. Try the Columbia empanadas they will change you life! Five stars highly recommend! Always fresh and tasty!
We got the Cuban sandwich and a mahi sandwich and they were delicious. The price was great. What a good spot.
Recommended!! I am in town for work and woke up starving in my hotel. I chose this place because it was the quickest to be delivered on ubereats. Oh my God, the steak sandwich was incredible. Flavors were fresh and authentic. I also got my order in 10 minutes, delivered, so I know they made it fast. I will definitely be eating here again.
You must try their Cuban!!! I was so hungry and happy with my meal that I didn’t even take a picture. We showed up right before closing time and they were kind to us and brought our food our to the outdoor seating. The portions were generous! Just FYI, most Miami restaurants charge 18% tip, don’t be surprised but keep an eye out for it. I’m don’t mind especially when the food is great. Would return for another Cuban in a heartbeat!
This place has the best cafe con leche (latte) and pan con mantequilla (toast with butter). They are open late at night and early in the morning. They also have good media noche and Cuban sandwiches and plantains. They have a wide menu of food and drinks and low prices.
Come here for fast delicious food in an air conditioned sitting area!
This is a great place! The empanadas are what we came for and that is what I recommend. Friendly service and very good fruit smoothies too. I loved the pigeons as it gave the feel of authentic hole in the wall dining.
The best spot honestly, the food is so good and fresh. I would eat here everyday!
A Local favorite and a much appreciated hidden gem once discovered…fresh and delicious meals, staff and service were excellent. Curb appeal can be better but the quality and quantity of the food leaves you satisfied on a budget
Pretty good. Normal / affordable prices. I went for breakfast. Cashier was ok, little awkward. But food was good & not overpriced like everything else on the area. I’d recommend & return.
South Beach Munchies is a hole in the wall eatery in the best way possible. They have a little inside seating and more outdoor seating. They also do a brisk to-go business. We had the ropa vieja, fried plantains and rice. Excellent! We split this along with some Cuban-style empanadas and an arepa con queso. The empanadas were solid but not outstanding. The arepa was not too sweet, which we liked. Definitely will consider going back if we're in the area again!
I'd been craving a Philly cheese steak after not having for over 6 years due to diet change. Having come across munchies in a search I was beyond satisfied. The meat is seasoned and tender; with peppers, onions and cheese the sandwich melts perfectly together.
One of the best spots for the locals. Cheap prices and good food! Been coming here for years!
This was my favorite place in Miami! Their coffee is the best, the people who work there are awesome, and I just all-around adored this place. They have great pastries, and while I didn’t try any other foods, it all looked good. The establishment is so cool - it was crowded, but in a good way. The hustle and bustle of it was charming, and they are still able to keep service very quick and efficient. Seriously, I would choose going here over going anywhere else on Miami Beach.
This place is better than all of the tourist traps in this entire area. They’re here to give you great food and friendly service. The food is so delicious and reasonably priced especially for the portion and quality.
I truly enjoy coming here and seeing such great customer service and information from Pastor about the many tours he offers tourists. He has great prices and packages that have a variety of sights! He also helped us as we came into the restaurant. He seated us and recommended some great dinner items. He is very polite and knows all about Miami tidbits. I truly recommend this cafe and ask for Pastor!!
Just ate the best meal of our vacation so far at munchies! The employees were kind and happy to be there. Yani specifically took great care of us and the food was so fresh and flavorful. I ordered the beef fajitas and didn’t expect them to be so good. It was such a satisfying meal- definitely give this a try if you are in south beach! You will not regret it.
I love this place I always get expresso shots early in the mornings after long nights of partying. if I visit Miami alone I usually eat here 2/3times during my stay either lunch or dinner. The food has always been good and hot. I don’t have any real complaints about the service food or location. Other then the pigeons joining you to eat and they are not shy lol if you choose to sit and eat outside but they easily move away if you scare them off Outside seating is nice well shaded with large umbrellas on hot summer days. I really enjoy this place it’s definitely a must try
We ordered 39 and Argentina empanada. The beef was well seasoned and soft with fresh salad. Empanada was also authentic. They were so good. The guy who served was so nice. We will definitely come back and enjoy another food
Came for empanadas which were amazing. We initially said no to the sauce but the guy at the counter encouraged us to try it. It was super good and complemented the empanadas really well! We stopped only for a quick bite late in the night. If you’re looking to sit outside and have a nice meal, this is probably not the place for you. The street outside is busy and there is a bus stop nearby. Also expect a service charge to be included wherever you go in Miami Beach. This place is no exception. I don’t like it either, but I’ve learned that that’s Miami. Nonetheless, empanadas were warm and delicious! Good for a quick bite/takeaway!
BEST food around, and prices are great as well. My whole family and friends enjoy this place everytime, and we come here at least once a day. Every option has never disappointed ever, from the empanadas to the turkey bacon clubs you will enjoy it. Smoothies are 10/10 as well, fresh fruit and option of milk or water. This will be the SPOT in South Beach, and you won’t regret it. Staff and owner are great people as well, always smiling and joking with you and makes this place even better🙌🏼🔥🔥
Good Latin food, reasonably priced, open late, and seating options inside or out.
I have been coming here for the past 10 years. Feels like home, customer service A1 Family!
Employees are so nice and food was delicious
They say if you don’t know where to eat then just go to the place with the longest line! This place was it! The food is flavorful, the courtesy is top notch and you will leave full and satisfied. I got 2 plates of the red beans and rice. One with the steak, and cucumber side salad, another with the roast chicken leg quarter, an arepa, and plantains!!! Price was decent at around $40 including tip for the nice ladies behind the counter! Definitely eating here again when I’m in Miami Beach! P.S. we were so hungry and the plate looked so good, there wasn’t time for photos. Just go and you won’t be disappointed!
I’ve been coming here for years and they NEVER disappoint. The Cuban food is authentic and absolutely delicious every single time. The service is spectacular — everyone is always so kind, polite, and super quick with serving. Their ropa vieja is one of my all-time favorites, and let me tell you… the Cuban coffee is next level. Literally the best I’ve had anywhere in the United States. If you’re looking for real Cuban food with amazing service and consistent quality, this is the spot. Highly recommend — forever a loyal customer. 💛☕️🇨🇺
Food was delicious. We got the Steak sandwich, papa Columbian, cuban empanadas, and the fresh fried platano chips. Everything was amazing. Also, the young lady who help us was very nice and attentive.
Best lunch spot on the beach, I come here 3-4 times a week minimum
A very good place to have a delicious lunch in South Beach ,Miami Beach.very good price, very clean place nice staffs and friendly service Nelson is the best
Buena comida, precio conveniente y porción abundante.
The food is good and cheap. Cheapest cuban or medianoche I have found in South Beach. The bottom bun was a bit soggy from the pork, like they forgot to bring it out to me. But it was still really good and at $8 which can complain. They have a ton of cuban food and all looks made fresh.
Small hole in the wall. Service was fine. Tried empanadas from 4 different countries and Cuban sandwich. Everything tasted fresh. Fairly large menu so a good place to try out different dishes.
Quick small spot to grab a sandwich, sub, empanadas, and other great food after a tour. Reasonably priced. You know it’s good when the place is packed with Latinos. Give these folks a try.
Cuban Sandwiches and Empanadas were good. Prices are ok as they add 18% service charge to all orders.
I had the "Papa Colombiana" and it's pretty good. Rowdy area but nice and friendly staff.
Great food and prices but they closed at 9:50 last night. That would be fine if that is just what was listed on their google page.
The food is good, but the lady on the front desk doesn’t listen, she doesn’t let you finish talking, other than that it’s alright place.
So many pigeons and give the feeling of unhygienic. I ordered egg with Cuban bread and I need salt and hot sauce to enhance the taste. Staff was kind and hot food looked good
They cheaped out on the meat In a meat sandwich, a third (⅓) of the bun was empty... When asked - 10 dollars for "extra" - the sandwich was 10.98 Tasted just alright but comon
The food was very average. The service is a little odd. You order and go sit anywhere available. They should be able to remember you and bring your order out. The table behind us didn't end up getting their order. The staff were nice to help them. The seating area is right in the middle of the sidewalk. People pass by very close to the tables. We were approached by several people asking for money. Next time, I will take the food to go. Remember, the price displayed not including taxes and 18% tips added automatically.
Moderate option, had greater expectations reading the reviews that were talking about the best Cuban sandwich. The food was average, mostly fast food and very oily. The staff was not the friendliest. Expensive for what you get. Average experience.
Updated review since last visit …. Food has gone down hill with its customer service as well and freshness of ingredients, this place used to have us taking Uber and Lyft from every part of miami to patronize, Im sad writing this review also the tour I was sold in this same building was a COMPLETE !! waste of time and money , just keep walking & please make a left on Washington and get an updated fresh version of munchies where the food and customer service is excellent!
I utilize this restaurant a couple times a month & would like to give Kudos to this vendor's leader Rolondo. Seems like only when He's There is when the service towards customers are on point & handled with care. My disappointment mainly is with the quality of the food. Sometimes when I purchase a platter choice here - the customer service from the workers within is rushed & the staff makes me feel like I'm bothering them or something. The rice & beans selections are sometimes clearly unfresh.... as if its been sitting too long or overcooked before it was served. I'm embarrassed half of the time of said service due I usually bring Guests from other states & countries. I recommend this vendor to them & they end up relaying back an unsatisfied experience. We shouldn't have to encounter issues with our food purchases, unnecessary bad service & such to add on top of that. Management at these Plazas truly needs to restructure with their workers of how to properly cater to their customers. We as customers should not have to put up & give in to such deplorable service. The platter selections are appealing indeed - just don't understand why the quality of said meals are not top notch as expected. Folks are aware of these issues & it has to clean up. The restaurant leader is always accommodating - just need to see the rest of his Team follow suit & take more pride in serving quality of food served there.
Food was good but pricing is a scam. Ordered Cuban sandwich. Price on menu says $10.00. When she rang it up, it rang up as $10.40 + tax. The cashier then added a 15% service charge half a second before changing to the tip screen (with the expectation that most people won’t notice that there’s already a service charge).
Maria Elena is the definition of horrible customer service. The meat in my sliders were bloody inside and I kindly asked to switch it out for another sandwich at the same price. She stated that the red was the sauce on the sandwich (it was not) and proceeded to tell me that they do not switch out food. What kind of restaurant is this?? I told her that I’m asking to switch it to the same priced sandwich or get my money back. She quickly answered that she will give me my money back because “you might not like the sandwich we make” with a sarcastic tone. They attempted to give me part of the cost of the sandwich. I demanded them to also give me the 15% service charge they include with any purchase because their service was horrible and I was not obligated to tip them. Oh, and if you want to have pigeon friends and be harassed by them when you eat, this is the perfect place to be. See photo.
Ver bad experience trying to order food. No response for any questions and just keeps getting ignored waiting in line
They add 18% gratuity automatically on their overpriced food. Asked for water and they said they dont have water?!? Tried to use a 20% off coupon we got from the duck tours and they told us it wasn't for breakfast food when on the coupon it said "breakfast, lunch, dinner". I had an omelet with ham, my hubby ordered ham and eggs. Dont expect a ham steak. It's cold cut lunch meat warmed with 2 over easy eggs. Cost us $24 just for that!?!? Staff is super rude! I would give zero start but it wont let me. 😵
Some guy that sells boat rides who I'm not sure if he works there also, but this guy gave my table away to a couple after I was already sitting there awaiting another friend to arrive. Then he drops my scooter and blames a kid that was there. Also, the outside area is full of pigeons flying all over your table and around the place. Order take out if decide to try.
Food at the place was average. For Latin food in Miami it’s very average. Unfortunately we also had a manager that was also a crook. They get you in, serve you then began trying to sell you on tours. We were sold a tour that supposedly takes us to private islands to swim and stop at etc and were told it is $50 per person and that we needed to pay 50% down. When we got to the tour it was a group boat that gives a tour without stops. The disturbing part was the price. The boat tour was actually $25 per person yet the guy selling the tours at Latin cafe was selling it $50 per person. Had he been upfront about the price and the tour we wouldn’t have paid $50 for this tour or we would have booked it from the bay. Unfortunately Miami as beautiful as it is, it has many dishonest people. My purpose for leaving this review is to warn tourists from booking with Latin Cafe any tours. Check the tours on aviator or even at bayside. We all work hard and we don’t work for free, but we should be honest. When I confronted them about the price difference I was told they are a separate company and charge for the service and asked if I would work for free. No i don’t work for free but I will never steal from anyone. Be fair, be kind and be honest and people will always come to you and refer customers to you. Steal from people and the word goes around Good luck
Lame. Spent $18 on a sandwich I was told would take 10 min to make, and it still wasn’t ready 20 min later when my bus showed up. I tried to be cool with them and contacted them directly two diff times to cancel the charge and they refused. Super unprofessional.
Worst customer service I’ve ever received in my life. The owner is so mean when you ask him regarding to the quality of the dishes or even when you ask about the best food to eat. They just say “everything is good”. It’s so dissatisfied, because the empanadas are good. But I am not coming back just because of the service.
Is not open until 4 am showed up and the place was closed!
This place is a scam. They charged me $8 for a scramble eggs and when I received the order there was just a spoon of food inside. The photo shows a hole plate of scramble eggs with a toast. I obviously complained to the manager and his answer was "This is South Beach" I guess they just want to screw all the South Beach clients because of their location? Come on people... there are so many places in South Beach to go for a decent breakfast at a decent price. Apparently decency is lacking in your business.
Oh my goodness, the walls have no price when I ordered number 36 she pointed to a menu that was not the same menu I took home number 36 was 33 dollars but here it’s 14$ what the heck I would avoid if you don’t see the menus they have hidden
In addition to low quality food, I was robbed by the restaurant. I did the mistake not asking for a receipt when the waitress came for payment. The payment was done towards the end of the meal so they were sure that we were sitting another 5 min. Then another waitresses came and said the payment did not went through. She was assisted by a guy from the event bureau located inside the restaurant. Stay away from both the restaurant and this event bureau !!! They hope to get the opportunity to steal your money.
Don't waste your time or precious money. Trust me, I've been here twice and they will surely get your order wrong. I regret spending my $30 on merely breakfast food that they tried to upcharge me for because "it was not breakfast hours". Really just a scam for money to con spring-breakers and people visiting for Ultra. (I am a local...I see what's going on here). Careful...because they also like to make up their own prices. And your receipt will NOT have a breakdown of what you ordered. So you never know how much they are really charging or DOUBLE-charging you. The place isn't even that clean. I always try to give a place the benefit of the doubt, but if they make a mistake with your order they will NOT fix it. Shame on this place!
I live nearby and it’s the closest place for a quick bite . Unfortunately . Service varies from 1 to zero. Food is just average and below average (chicken tacos have the driest low quality chicken ever ) tried this place 3 times and however close the are , that’s it . How are they still in business ? Location . Would not ever recommend .
I spent 45$ in breakfast and they refused to serve me a cup of water. Offering only to sell a bottle of water. It was my understanding that by law all restaurants and food service establishments must have potable water supplied to the premises so I guess they are breaking the law. Some inspector should come and check.
Absolutely the worst experience at Munchies in South Beach. Nelson, the cashier, is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. This isn’t the first time I’ve had an issue with him. On a previous visit, he blatantly tried to steal from my order—yes, steal. I had to confront him to get the item I had paid for, and even then, he acted like he was doing me a favor. This time, he didn’t even bother to hide his disrespect. He tried to throw whatever stale empanadas he wanted into my bag instead of what I ordered, as if my money and preference didn’t matter. When I told him I wasn’t happy with the service, he had the audacity to get angry at me. His attitude is disgusting, and it’s clear he doesn’t care about customers at all. I’m done giving this place chances. Save yourself the frustration and avoid Munchies entirely. If they keep employing people like Nelson, it’s only a matter of time before they lose every customer.
The food was great however the service was quiet disappointing. The cashier denied us a cup of tap water after me and my friend spent around 40 dollars. She simply said water was “scarce” which we were shocked to hear since we just wanted tap water. She added her own tip without asking and honestly we wouldn’t have tipped her at all since she was overall quiet rude. And on top of that we asked for salt and she joked that we had to pay extra for that as well. Good food but horrible service
The female attendant is one of the most rude person I've ever met. A bad service and a slow quality food that don't deserve your time and money. Better get some subway or pizza around there anyways.
LATIN CAFE. Terrible service. They sold or changed personal. The last two times I had come to the place, there is a RUDE woman at the register, not paying attention to the customers but at the social media on her phone. No welcome, no manners, no nothing. Instead she keeps looking at the phone and asks you what n an annoying tone after long time waiting for her: “What do you want”. Very RUDE woman. If you support South Beach, go to a place where they welcome you.
Massive 15 percent service charge when ordering food to go. What service did I get charged for? No warning, no options. The Cubano sandwich I got was very dry.
