Queen Bean Modesto Reviews
House built in 1908 and was converted into a coffee shop. Environment is welcoming and staff are friendly. They have many community events that are fun to attend. Will definitely be returning. The photos attached are from a comedy night. Totally unfiltered with adult topics.
Small, quaint little coffee shop in downtown Modesto. We went for the late morning live Jazz on Valentines Day. The outside seating area is nice, both in front and in the back. The inside area is petite, if it's busy, it's hard to walk through. The drinks we ordered were delicious, probably better than Starbucks. Would recommend!
The best coffee Latte I've ever tasted has a sweet touch but not super sweet I loved it and the place looks unique since it is a house turned into a cafe in which you feel comfortable when drinking a cup of coffee super recommended I would have liked to enjoy more of this small and comforting place but I was going a little fast but it will be one of the places I will return to for a latte coffee , sandwich and breakfast burrito 🌯 ☕️ ☺️. Thank you.
Absolutely adorable coffee shop in a truly unique, historical location (the house was built in 1908, and it really feels like it). the atmosphere was cozy and pleasant, with excellent coffee and service. I particularly appreciated the maximalist decor. this is no chic, ultra modern Cafe for the modern business person, but it is perfect for anyone who wants a cozy place to read or write while enjoying some of the best coffee they've ever had also, they don't take themselves too seriously, with some very funny/relatable signs and other decor. also also, they have a small display of local-made items like stickers and jewelry. my only regret is not getting one of their mugs
This is an old Crsftsman home converted into a chic coffee bar with excelllent food and a warm atmosphere. The venue also hosts comedy nights, a poetry slam, and other events . A wonderful place.
I went here for a night market/rave. Friendly atmosphere and vibes. I ordered a 20oz Azteca, I called it a "venti" and almost got kicked out 😅 (jk) and ordered an apple leaf. It was pretty good. The place was packed but service was quick. The establishment is quite cozy furnished with tables chairs and couches and coffee table and shelves adorned with books and other periodicals. I made my way out to the back patio where vendors were selling their treats and trinkets while a DJ played techno music while some people danced. Its like burning man but without the hedonism. I checked out some artwork and clothes. It was a free event for all ages.
I was coming here regularly here when the shop opened back in 2004. The it place. I have so many memories here I just can't believe it's been 20 years. I moved out of state and dont get back to visit. The atmosphere has changed a lot. It used to be more like central perk on friends. There were games every chair was different. Nothing was matchy. I love this place so much. Even though it's more modern and all the furniture has changed the charm is still there. I miss the scene it used to be but love the fact the bean is still alive and well. Love you all. It's worth the stop. My favorite place in a of Modesto The coffee is good I just forgot the pictures going down memory lane.
A perfect Sunday! We listened to local jazz band 'Jazzscape' while enjoying delicious and creative food. What a great Modesto gem.
Lately, I've been coming here to study. The atmosphere is lovely whether you're on the patio or inside the beautiful old house. It feels cozy and welcoming. A lot of people take selfies or video reels when they arrive because it feels like you're having a good experience when you walk in. It can get pretty busy sometimes, but the staff seems good about keeping up with everyone. The coffee is amazing. I love their cappuccino. If you like sweet drinks like mochas, those are great, too. They're not too sweet but still full of flavor. I appreciate actually tasting good coffee in the coffee drinks. Their food is delicious, too. Good portions for price. Again, the sweet treats are not too sweet, which I truly appreciate not being overloaded with sugar. Most importantly and enjoyably, I appreciate the always pleasant staff. They've always made me feel welcome with friendly vibes.
While attending the Poetry for a Purpose fundraiser for The HAVEN, this Iowa born girl had a I had a Midwest mocha and found it very tasty. I paired a white chocolate caramel cookie too, will save over half of for tomorrow's treat- a two-fer!. That was the cookie I didn't know I was looking for. The fundraiser was well organized, cozy, and the poets, spoken word artists, and hosts were awesome! It was the first time going to a poetry performance and I loved it! Sam the Ninja poet and Queen Bean owner, Victoria Popoff- Ardis the Studio V Pilates owner/fundraiser director HAVEN board member, Mae survivor whisperer, and Lady K the poet with passion created a night to remember for all of us.
Queen Beans Coffee – A Hidden Gem with a Century of Charm! Stepping into Queen Beans Coffee feels like taking a sweet little time-travel break — in the best way possible! Established in 1908, this cozy café blends vintage vibes with modern charm. The coffee is rich and smooth, the desserts are not only delicious but almost too cute to eat, and the outdoor seating area is the perfect spot to relax and unwind. Whether you’re sipping solo or catching up with friends, this place invites you to slow down and savor the moment. A must-visit for coffee lovers and sweet tooths alike!
The look, warmth and feel of this coffee shop is truly unmatched. Not only beautiful but also cozy and functional with both outdoor seatings and indoor charging plugs for computers Truly beautiful with amazing coffee and food A jewel of coffee shop Only complaint please be open until 7 pm and not 3 pm 💘
Addendum November 2024: We hadn't been here since the new ownership and it's still great. We enjoyed the breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. They were perfectly cooked and tasty. Since it was a nice day we had frappes. I then got a delicious cup of coffee. It's such a great idea for this to be a gathering place. Love the art and music. 2018: I've been here several times, but this is my first review. This is a great place to meet up with friends or acquaintances. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We'll be back.
I had a great experience here. The sandwich I ordered was very delicious. It was the Cali-Delight. Served on 5 seed sliced bread, mayonnaise, avocado, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushrooms, onions, ham, bacon, with cheddar and Swiss cheese. I also had a strawberry & banana smoothie that was good. For dessert I had a slice of their chocolate fudge cake. For the longest time I did not know they served sandwiches. Now that I do I will come back again.
What a nice surprise when i visited the Queen Bean for my first time today. I have dropped my daughter off here many times so she could meet with her friends but had never gone in. Doh! Discovered what it seems like half of our community already knew because it was packed at 10:30am! Great menu! I ordered the breakfast burrito without meat and an African Queen coffee. The atmosphere was relaxing the entire time i was there (4 hours for a business meeting) and even sitting outside on the covered back patio was nice and not too hot in the August temps. Theres to much to describe as far as ambiance so i shot a couple videos on the way out which unfortunately can’t be posted on these reviews. Will definitely be coming here more often!
What a little gem! Came in for coffee and chat time with my sister and friend. The chai latte is like a warm cup of heaven...WOW! Sylvia is such a sweet lady and she can really do magic with the food and drink there. I ordered the breakfast bowl, it's like the burrito but no tortilla, it was delicious. I added avocado to mine in addition to the choice of bacon. Perfect temperature, cook on everything and flavorful. Come sqitha side if salsa verde. The atmosphere is so welcoming and you feel very comfortable like if you were having breakfast at home with friends. I highly recommend Queen Bean and now know why my sister raves about it. Looking forward to coming back again and often.
First time! Its definitely a vibe. If you go on the weekend be sure to have some patience it gets crazy packed. The Tuscano was great, the breakfast burrito was ok, cesar salad had good flavor. Coffee was amazing 10/10. We tried the signature drinks and were delicious. Definitely worth it.
I've only had coffee here. The lunch foods looked very good. A feat place to meet for coffee. Also a great venue for a party, fundraiser, whatever.
My girl @_____was there for an outdoor sales event Hosted by The Funky Bunch. The host were great along with their mocha and smoothie. The costumes were fun, especially the little ones that came through with their parents. All guidelines were enforced. Lovely place all around. You're gonna love the banjo players. Ask about the banjo's west African origins.
I heard that this coffee place have good coffee and good sandwiches. I went with my family to eat lunch and have a hot beverage since it has been very cold. The customer service was not good, the people at the counter were not that friendly. We placed our order and our hot beverages. Took for ever to get our sandwiches and our beverages wasn't ready. We waited about 10 more minutes and we finally went inside to see if they were ready. I asked my drink without foam. By the time I got my drink it had foam and it was cold. The food was nothing special. There wasn't any open seats inside so we went and sat outside. It was very Cold. The experience was not that great, I don't know if I will be coming back. Again this place doesn't know what customer service is.
I visited this cafe after hearing good things from friends, and my mom who also knows the new owners. I was excited to try it, especially since it's considered a hidden gem in Modesto. Note that parking downtown can be difficult. The place has a cozy ambiance as it's in a vintage house, with plenty of seating inside and out. When I walked in, a customer was chatting with the cashier for a while, and I wasn't sure when it was my turn, until the customer stepped back though they kept chatting. There wasn't a warm welcome or much customer service to start, but I let it go. I told the cashier it was my first time and asked about any fall drinks I saw on their Instagram, but she seemed unsure and a bit confused the entire transaction. I ordered an iced chai with pumpkin spice cold foam (even though I don't usually like chai) and enjoyed it as it wasn't too sweet or strong. I also got the breakfast bowl with sausage. It was good, very cheesy which I love. After working for a couple of hours, I placed a to-go order for my boyfriend and me (two drinks and two sandwiches). My order ended up taking over 20 minutes. When the cook handed me the sandwiches in an open box, I asked another worker for a bag so l could carry-out. I saw her go back to the cook, who visibly rolled her eyes and sighed. As someone who also works in food service, I felt bad and apologized for not saying it was takeout when ordering--but they never asked either. Honestly, after this visit, I'm not sure l'd come back on my own. While the drinks were good, the service was underwhelming, and I felt uncomfortable at times, especially when I noticed some older caucasian customers staring at me (a POC woman alone) while I was doing my work. Though that seems to be a common experience living in the Central Valley, that's not at the fault of the business if that is their usual crowd. Overall, it was just an okay experience, and l'o have to consider coming back... I don't think I would alone.
