Chalateco Mountain View Reviews
Loved this place and people for years. The music a touch too loud. Outstanding gem in MV
Pupusas were amazing --they give you a side dish and a sauce so that each bite is flavorful. We ordered the quesadillas gus and the pollo guisado--The portions were huge, especially the pollo guisado, though the quesadillas with the fries/baked outer shell and all the works inside (chicken, lettuce, sour cream, spicy red salsa) were better than the pollo guisado, which apparently just tasted like regular chicken. They mixed up our receipts though the end result would be roughly the same anyway, and the servers were friendly though some speak limited English (they will bring someone who understands more English out if necessary). Atmosphere and lighting were both very cool!
I was craving some Latin American comfort food and this place fixed that right up. Great papusus, tamals, and tasty mole sauce. Good portions as well, see my photos. Service is a bit slow but friendly, it's just laid back. Will definitely come back for more papusus. Lots of options including breakfast.
Decent “sit down” Mexican restaurant with a neighborhood taqueria feel and setting. They offer take out or dine in (server attended) service as well. The menu is large, with various Mexican and Central American dishes such as tacos, pupusas, and some other dishes I’ve never tried! Food quality is good (similar to a taqueria), service is fast, setting and customer service could be improved a bit. The owner was nice but some of the newer staff were a little cold. Also, I wonder if this place would be better as a counter order and sit down spot - rather than having servers. Otherwise, this is a good spot if you’re looking for a quick and easy lunch or dinner and want to be attended to - rather than ordering at a counter or getting take out. Food is good for the area. I’d chose this spot if I wanted something between a taqueria and an nicer sit down restaurant. It falls somewhere in between!
The food tasted good, however, 20 minutes after eating, I came to the conclusion that I got food poisoning from eating at this restaurant. No bueno!!
Very bad service on the phone when they are busy . You need to have some one special for to go . Because they answer and put you on hold for more the 20 min. The to go is very important too .
Don’t go sit waiting for the waiter, just go straight to the bar to order. They didn’t even bother to let me know about it after waiting for 10 mins at the table. The guy who takes order doesn’t understand English. I asked for the rice and beans with burrito, but burrito came alone. Food is not hot, but warm. Very cold inside the restaurant. Music is too loud like at discoteque.
