The host recommended a fried chicken appetizer to pair with our bottle of Bubbles (sparkling wine)—a surprisingly delicious combination. Their famous duck fat fries are absolutely to die for. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Compline Restaurant in Napa, and it was such a delightful experience! My friend had been wanting to try their famous duck fat fries, and they did not disappoint — absolutely delicious and well worth it. The atmosphere at Compline is relaxed and chill, making it a great spot to enjoy lunch and catch up with friends. The staff were amazingly courteous, attentive, and kind, which made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. For lunch, we opted for the sandwich of the day, which was a BLT, and paired it with some fun drinks. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying — a perfect balance for a casual yet elevated meal. Another nice touch is that Compline is dog-friendly, which is such a great option for anyone wanting to bring their pets along. The staff was accommodating to all parties and truly went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a pleasant time. Overall, we had a wonderful lunch at Compline. Between the delicious food, friendly service, and welcoming atmosphere, it was an experience we thoroughly enjoyed. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Napa and looking for a spot that combines great food, great drinks, and great vibes!

Compline is where flavor meets artistry. From the first bite to the last sip, everything sang in harmony. The cheese board was a symphony of textures and taste—each selection more expressive than the last. The tuna tartare? A delicate, melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece layered with nuance and grace. But the true surprise was the fried chicken with polenta—golden, tender, and soul-satisfying, even for this Southern heart raised on the real deal. Paired with world-class wines that danced perfectly alongside each dish, the evening was nothing short of magical. A place where food becomes memory. We’ll absolutely be back!

Fantastic food, wine and service. We arrived on quiet Sunday evening and had great attention from our knowledgeable server. A blind tasting round, followed by dinner was classy yet unfussy. I was delighted to be treated with a dessert for my birthday. Though I was out with friend, this qualifies for a good date night location.

DELICIOUS! Go try this place right away! The food is excellent, the service is good and the atmosphere is laid back California and fun. Don’t miss the off-the-menu burger or the the duck fat fries. The cheese board was excellent as well, as was the pork. And their wine offerings are wonderful as well and our waiter had excellent wine pairing recommendations for us. The chef came out to say hi and thank us and was super kind. All in all, a delightful experience. Highly recommend!

Great service, AMAZING FOOD, great location. The restaurant looks super well put together, great decor and ambiance. Service was spotless. Food was absolutely great, we got the hamburger, the coconut and tofu soup, and the carbonara finishing off with the brown sugar cheesecake. Amazing.

Do yourself a favor and head over to this restaurant and wine bar. On Sundays there are blind wine tastings which is really fun and helps to build your understanding of your personal tastes of wine. The bar tender was very friendly and helpful the whole night. For food, order the duck fries! Maybe even two orders. Everything we had was wonderful!

We always enjoy our time at Compline. The food is amazing. I'm a vegetarian and I really appreciate when chefs can prepare versatile vegetables. All my other friends rave about the duck fat fries! And the desserts, yum! The atmosphere is inviting and warm, you can take home your favorite bottle of wine from the wine shop in front, too! Last but not least, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and on top of it. We loved sitting at the bar and watching Angel manage 100 things at once without breaking a sweat. You won't be disappointed!

The Compline makes the best burger I’ve ever had, and their duck fat fries are divine. Truly, an exceptional dining experience. We split the burger and the spaghetti carbonara and a few glasses of wine and they were all excellent, as was our waiter Ivan, who was professional, knowledgeable and gracious. We even bought some beautiful bottles of wine (wine we had enjoyed so much with our meal), and they offered them at 50% discount! I really can’t recommend Compline enough, it knocked our socks off. P.S. We also ordered the Escarole salad with celery seed dressing and for me it was possibly the tastiest salad of all time. Highly recommend!!

Had dinner at Compline after a day of wine tastings and it was the perfect ending to an already wonderful day. Had dinner at the bar and the bartender was so nice and helpful with recommendations, wines to pair with dinner, and the restaurant was great vibes. I have visited this establishment twice, each time specifically to enjoy their duck fat fries. Their exceptional crispness and superior quality are unmatched by any other fries I've tasted. During my most recent visit, I also sampled the lamb meatballs, which I paired with a 2020 La Cabotte Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This wine displayed a lovely deep ruby-purple hue with pronounced notes of fresh plum, cherry, orange zest, and herbal spice. The pairing was quite successful. However, I did note that the restaurant's price of $110 for this wine is considerably higher than the typical retail price of $59, which I checked afterwards.

With a new chef we decided to give this place a try. It’s tucked away off of 1st street. Service was immaculate. Food was rich and tasty. For my partner who prefers quantity it was a bit disappointing. Otherwise all was good. Nice atmosphere

Very elegant and well decorated interior. We almost got the prefix menu, but then decided to order a la carte. The portions were somewhat small. The wine is definitely great. Its located in the heart of Napa, great location!

This is the definition of SMAll plate eating. I don't recommend going in hungry. The food was kind of meh. The highlight honestly was the salad.The service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice but nothing very fancy. It was a little bit on the noisy side.

As a local Napan, I really want to like this place but it fails to impress. It claims to be a wine oriented restaurant, but it has one of the weakest by the glass lists in the Valley! Can I get a glass of Californian or Oregon Pinot? Sorry not on list. How bout a glass of Burgundy? Nope not on the list. They had one Pinot by the glass from Australia! The Whites were just as limited . And the food...ehhhh. The duck was 3 mini slices and a confit that was the size of a big strawberry! Duck fat fries were good but not great. Crispy chicken wings? Tasty but definitely not crispy. No excuse for this place not to have a deep by the glass wine list. And last but not least, why did you take perhaps your best dish, the burger, off the menu! Hoping they change their ways as I've no reason to return.

I hope Compline takes a closer look at their seating practices, because the experience made me feel singled out instead of valued as a guest.

We really wanted to like this restaurant. We come to Napa annually, and this year all our evening restaurant visits were good ( Angele, Torc, Press, Farm, French Laundry ). The wine list is fantastic, the service good, but the food was awful. The crab, dry, salty and uninspired. The Uni pasta was a decent carbonara but the uni was overpowered by the pork. But the duck.. microwaved, pre cooked and gray. I cook duck breast often and order it often. Medium rare should be red and juicy.. not dry, hard and gray. Inedible I’m sad because we love Burgundy, and their wine list is amazing,, but the food isn’t
