Nice place with lots of character and very atmospheric. They have table games, card games, feels like you stopped by your friends house. Make sure to bring cash to leave a tip for the musicians.
Open music mic on Sunday’s. Super chill vibes, sorta reminds me of summer camp. Impromptu everything. People just jump behind the bar to make you drinks, no one knows anything, everyone knows everything. I loved it. Very LGBTQ friendly
Neutral Ground is reopening in a new location at 9000 Hickory Ave. I can’t figure out how to update Google, or I would!
Nice new space! Same good jams...

GO. Such a cool place, amazing musicians, laid back atmosphere, couches, cool building, super hip people.
Great place to chill while listening to music, playing board games, and drinking coffee or tea.
Cute and quaint coffee shop offering live music. Definitely visit!
Such a great little spot for tasty coffee and really good music. Neat neighborhood, too!
One of my two favorite places in town to play music (the other one is Buffa's).
Chill space, friendly staff, live music, and pots of tea are $3. A+, glad to have wandered across it.
Really good vibes and the open mic night was great
The people who run it are lovely conversationalist and the place is unlike anything I've ever seen.
Like the entertainment, free. Nice. Mixed ages... everyone is at home.
Looking forward to the new home of this beautiful community! HFB
Great place with good music. Remember to bring cash.
Great place. Andrew is the man. Great music
This is a unique quirky nonprofit lovely little snug and friendly oasis
Played a gig, had fun, got paid. 10/10
Union of artists, great city secret, unaffected by tourists.
One of the coolest and unique coffe shops around
I love all the art! And the guy on piano
Nice relaxing place with good live music
The capital of singer/songwriters in NOLA County.
chill spot with dairy free milk options :)
Credit card machine was out, but I'd go back again
Good people, chill vibe. Go and relax
Very reasonable price on popcorn.
Great place to unwind and end the day
Live music, enough said 👍👍☕🎼🎤🎸🥁🎶
super cute coffee spot
The only place to hear acoustic music in New Orleans. I know. Isn't that pathetic? It's supposed to be a music capital, but that's really just for jazz, funk, Dixieland, etc. Anyway, it's a coffee house with live music. I expected a little more variety in the coffee and baked goods, but I came for the music. It's an oasis.
This is my place of places to go and chill and hang out. It's open from 7pm to midnight every night. The only time it closes is New Year's or is it - yeah New Year's eve. But this place you can be who you are. No pretense. Tucked in the covey of uptown on Danneel Street which is between St. Charles and Freret Street is the place for musicians to play before a live audience. Caveat - sometimes you have to bring your own crowd. But if you promote your show - they'll pass the tip basket around and you could make a few dollars for the night. Every musician that's worth their salt has booked a show there. Allain Touissaint played there before his untimely death. Now on Sundays there is an open mic. It's the longest running Open Mic in the south. Now there is no alcohol which makes it a great place for recovering alcoholics to enjoy a nightlife.
the neutral ground just can’t be beat! love spending time there, and the people can’t be beat! always good music, and if not it’s at least interesting. can never resist getting a root beer float and playing trivia with pals and this fun and local spot.
Saw my friend Bill Barry perform, nice place, cool people. Laid back atmosphere. We both live in Hollywood so the experience coming out there was even more special.
One of the best cafes I've ever been to. I'm never leaving. I'm hiding somewhere in the floorboards. Toilet paper is not an issue because the pawns are the perfect shape to plug holes. 2 dollar coffee can't be beat by anything you throw at it , and neither can comfy couches, nooks, open mikes, or the street lice I dragged in from a 9th ward flop house and rubber all over the cushions.
Staff were respectful and calm.
Cozy and inviting spot, perfect for hanging out with friends without having to drink alcohol. Friendly staff, fun games, great coffee, clean bathroom, good live music and a lovely ambiance.
Old wooden plank walls, comfy sofas and good coffee, what more can a modern beatnik bohemian ask for, oh yea, live music an poetry, check. If you like just hanging at a friend's comfy couch, drinking coffee floats and wishing you were high so inspiration would hit your repressed genius, then this is the place for you.
Best for late night hot drinks, snacks, chess, or just hanging out in their opium den of a pillow room. Good live music, nice people, and fun times.
Don't leave New Orleans without visiting Neutral Ground. There aren't many places this cool, places where you say "Wow" when you see the decor. But it just gets better from there. The food is 'Wikid Awesome' and the people are just cool. There's nothing stale or corporate about NG; it's for humans, artists, music lovers, and, oh yeah… coffee hounds. Neutral Ground defines the word,'Welcome'.
I found this place through some friends and had a blast, so much so i went again later on during the week. What characters! reminds me of an odd but loving family. Ohh and the coffee's not bad either.
So when we where visiting we wanted to find a place for all ages that would not break the bank. Neutral Grounds was perfect. We only planned on going there one night over the 2 weeks we where there we ended up going every night.
Go here, great local spot!
Amazing intimate live music spot. It is a coffee house, no beer or mixed drinks, which means that it is kid friendly!
Lovely and cozy evening venue for live music. Fantastic espresso. Charming, creative decor, and comfortable. Run for and by musicians.
Noise Complaints and Cicada were both entertaining again. The coffee and tea were yummy. nice atmosphere. a little warm, though lol
Really fantastic cozy spot
Really cool and unique place. I love going on Sunday's to see the open mic night performers.
Nice and chill atmosphere to go and relax while supporting local artists during open mic nights! Good chance I'll be going again.
Great place, accepting of everyone with fantastic open mic nights and local music. My favorite New Orleans spot!
Amazing place! Ambiance and great coffee! Also live music every night
Had one of the best nights here. Come to watch beautiful musicians come together and jam out
Great music venue, offering musicians just starting out much quality face time at open mic as well as in monthly sets if they're game. I reccomend the iced Rasberry Hibiscus tea, but there are countless other great options and an overall vibe of commeraderee.
music is great at the building is perfect for meeting up with friends. Coffee was great too!
My favorite way to spend a Sunday night. Wonderful local live music and spoken word. So cozy, eclectic, and welcoming. Ruby at the bar is a great barista. I love getting a pot of tea and doing homework. Good vibes all around
A charming event space for music, poetry and art.
The best place in the world - amazing homely, welcoming vibe for newcomers, especially those traveling alone!!! Magically chill atmosphere, phenomenal people of every variety imaginable, great coffee, and amazing music. Sunday night open mic is always rad.
Very laid back, very hippie coffee bar. Prices are very reasonable, staff is really friendly and local. Went on open mic night and the music was 1960s and 1970s rock played by old guys who really love music.
This place is my favorite spot in New Orleans, it's the coolest coffee place I've been to here. It's an old school coffee shop with couches all around the place, super cozy and they have the coolest barista. They even have a really cool tea room, and they have live music at night most of the time, usually local young musicians and bands. The coffee is pretty decent but the looks and atmosphere of the place is so unique and friendly. It's honestly the one place I recommend to everyone in New Orleans.
This place is one of a kind hope it stays open forever!
Basically if someone turned their house into a coffee shop. Usually has live music and is very very chill. They offer drinks and snacks. Boardgames a plenty and artwork all over the walls. Check out Sunday nights for open mic night. This has been my go to spot for so long I remember when it had a hooka room.
Outstanding! Our favorite secret find in New Orleans. A small, unpretentious venue where anyone can play and sing. Just put your name on the sign-up sheet to secure a time slot and you're the star of the show. Great coffee bar adds to the funky decor and overall cool vibe.
Closing up when I got there (11pm) because the musical acts were done for the night but that makes sense. Vibe seemed really laid back and nice, would like to go back during the day while they're open.
Has a good vibe, coffee shop has just come up, it has found its footing with the musical talents that perform here and coming up with events that feel like they bring people together
Great atmosphere. If you're going by yourself, there are books and live music. If going with friends, there are board games and lots of comfy seats to sit and talk. The staff are also really friendly!
SUPER cool atmosphere. Little hole in the wall local place. My friend got up & played with the band. Great free book exchange there, too!
Me encantó. Muy amigable con la comunidad LGBTQ+.
¡Bonito espacio nuevo! Las mismas buenas mermeladas...
Un encantador espacio para eventos de música, poesía y arte.
Neutral Ground volverá a abrir en una nueva ubicación en 9000 Hickory Ave. ¡No sé cómo actualizar Google, o lo haría!
Not the best coffee, but super cute and cozy.
It is not there anymore. Closed for good.
Good coffee and entertainment.
For music performances and coffee it doesn't get any better than this. Great ambience and board games. Bathroom is a little bit of a wait usually. Very cosy place.
Chill, cozy, low-key, rustic coffee shop with live music most nights. Lots of great books and games. Great place to end the night.
Super cute hole in the wall coffee spot supporting local musicians with frequent live shows. So worth the visit to this cozy little gem
Good coffee. Didn't eat. We were there for open mic night. Heard some interesting performers.
Really down homey spot! Lots of little alcoves and character and games and books, and dog friendly! This is like going to your hippie dad’s cabin in the woods for some old fashioned coffee pot coffee and a good conversation. Always music, which is great unless you wanna concentrate (to write or think) as it is a music venue. Also, a bit of a younger crowd when I went (high school age), all polite but not quite what I’m looking for in my mid-30’s. Still I’ll def check it out again
Cool place.
You go here for the music and not the drinks. The $5 hot chocolate is Swiss Miss from a packet prepared with a hot water heater. I didn't try the coffee but I can only assume it's a similar deal. The dessert is apparently good according to the people I went with.
It’s a great atmosphere and study spot. I bought a some teas and tipped for my drinks however I felt like I was being berated about tipping more for the artist or spending more money in general which felt a little uncomfortable toward the end of me being there. I went there to study and sat in the back away from the music and was confused as to why I was being judged for not spending more money. Was my only negative experience there unfortunately. Drinks are okay, prepackaged most of them. It’s more about the atmosphere which is overall great and very chill.
