Bar Veloce New York Reviews
This was a nice stop for a drink before our reservation at Delice and Sarrasin. I was so surprised to see that happy hour was from 3 to 7 EVERYDAY! Even on a Saturday! I got a $7 glass of rosato and my partner for a couple $5 beers. We sat at the bar and enjoyed that, but if you're lucky you might get a spot outside.
One of the best wine spots in EV. This is one of there few locations in the city and they just opened after a renovation that seems to have elevated the ambience and class of the place. Went for a glass of wine on Wednesday night, enjoyed the vibe so much we ended back here on Sunday for the same glass of wine. Try the Borolo. It’s absolutely incredible!

I don’t know how anyone can say anything negative about this neighborhood staple. The service is always great, the happy hour specials are unpretentious and perfect, and the staff are always kind and welcoming. I live in the neighborhood and often come here with my little dog to read and relax, and I am always welcomed with a smile and a cold drink. This is one of the most underrated staples in the neighborhood. So if you haven’t been here before, you definitely should plan a visit.
Nice chill place in the East Village; a bit away from the crazy busy part which is great if you are looking to avoid the loud noise.
The last time I went to this bar was back in 2001when we would end our vespa rides at this place and it's great to see that it's still open and running. I was always a fan of the Stella on tap back into he day the along with the moz, tomato, and pesto toasted panini. This was a great happy hour and warm up spot.
My new favorite place. A great selection of Italian wines, amazing service, great vibe. Food is ok, nothing special, mostly paninis and bites, but their olives were delicious, and the bread was nice and warm.
Great experience with amazing staff my only concern is not having much more food options for very hungry people. Other than that the panini I had was great but I didn’t want to order two of them cause I was starving.
Excellent service, good selection of wines, and nice paninis.
Dear Veloce , I trek from Chelsea to the East because John works the bar. For years used to go to the one in Chelsea but the female bartender there, Dara must hate humans, (miss Christo, Carla & Francesco) so I stopped going. She is terrible. She is unpleasant & terrible wine mood/service. Why she works in this industry is wild? Rocco was fabulous, what happened to him? However, was delightful to accidentally have drinks in the east village & meet John. Who also happens to be a Sommelier. I now leave my hood, Chelsea, come to the East Village only when John is working. He knows his wines. Friendly. Great humor. Excellent service. Wish all wine bars had John’s … I never go to the Chelsea Veloce anymore. Only East. I like hanging w/ oriented service people not ppl w/ severe mood swings. Take note Chelsea. We all stopped going there. John is TOP!
This place is absolutely incredible and we can’t recommend it enough. We’ve made major life decisions talking over a glass of great wine here.
Would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for an event space (or just a good time). Very helpful staff, great drinks, and a beautiful venue.
Great wine bar with great old world atmosphere. Went during happy hour and they had great offerings. Awesome selection.

Splendid knowledge and hospitality from the bar manager. Highly recommend this cozy place for your wine dinner or just hanging out with your friends before your dinner reservation.

Headed over to meet a friend for happy hour on a Tuesday. Great outdoor seating, which was semi closed off with a low wall and mini evergreens. There was one selection each genre of wine: a red, a pinot grigio, a rose, etc.

Bartender was arrogant. Would set down drinks and not say anything and Like put them out of reach. They wouldn't put on the live Mets game instead played a replay of f1 because they refuse to play American sports. I know it's not a sports bar but the way they went about it was rude.
Wine, small plates and martini were good. Olive was super tasty. But their bathrooms are as small as airport bathrooms which can be pretty unpleasant. 3 stars for tiny bathroom :(

Waitstaff didn’t seem to have an interest in educating me on types of reds they offer. Once I ordered, wine was delish. However, she never came back. The other staff had to tell her to service me. Again, still waiting, she was told again to service my area. Never did. Other staff poured me another glass. She was quick when I asked for the bill. Good wine, horrible service. Go find good wine elsewhere
waiter didn’t check on us for almost an hour then came around 10 minutes after happy hour ended to take a second round, disappointing service!

Terrible service. Came on a Saturday 6PM and felt uncomfortable the minute we sat down. We ordered two of the same drinks and they tasted completely different. One was way too sweet and the other was way too sour. The bartender kept giving us looks every two minutes, my girlfriends and I felt extremely uncomfortable. Poor customer service, was not even half way done with my drink and he already handed us our check. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning.
I enjoy Bar Veloce and was glad to pop into this location (my first and last time) before seeing a film. Unfortunately, I left without ever having a drink. The bartender, an older man, never acknowledged me and silently set down a glass of water after minutes of me sitting at the bar. Never came around to ask what I’d like. Gave him grace considering he was tending to outdoor patrons as well. However, a guy with skin much paler than mine came in, stood next to me, and was immediately addressed. I interrupted him and said I’d been waiting to order and he totally stepped back. But the bartender waved me off as if I were a nuisance. Literally waved his hand at me. When I say I was disgusted, I mean it. Got up and promptly went across the street to another wine bar where I was treated with—wait for it—respect. Will gladly go out of my way to never patron Bar Veloce bars again.
The bartender added a 25% mandatory tip without asking and then prompted an additional tip. Since when do you need to mandatory pay tips for 2 drinks? Definitely not visiting again.
