Carmen's Kitchen New York Reviews
When you’re hungry this is where you need to go ! Their portions and food selections are fantastic and the service is second to none. The food taste 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 sweet potatoes / Mac n cheese / bbq chicken/ collard greens.. just trust me on this
The portions were phenomenal , the food was fresh, the line moved super quickly and the taste was super authentic. The price is unbeatable especially in that area. Also the staff was friendly, organic and fast paced. Definitely going back! Gracias Damas, el servicio es número uno en ese área! Dios te bendiga
Definitely Yummy.. You can't go wrong with their food... I will definitely come try their other selection of food they have. Line will get long. Try to come before 12 pm.
Good place but prices went up two dollars as of 2/12/2024. I like the baked chicken and sweet potato.
I made a wrong turn going to get lunch at work. Came across this gem. I looked in the window and it was everything I could ask for. Home cooked feeling in a to go spot. Glad I stopped in. This will be on of my favorites now when going on lunch. The food was delicious and felt like I just sat down and had a fresh prepared dish. Rice with beans, some Madurai’s. As well as Pollo guisado. I couldn’t ask for more. Except that it was only $12 and it felt like a portion your grandma would give you.
Carmen's Kitchen offers an authentic taste of Dominican cuisine reminiscent of the comedores in Santo Domingo. I recently enjoyed their baked chicken, yuca, and kale salad, all of which were flavorful and generously portioned. The baked chicken was tender and well-seasoned, while the yuca was perfectly cooked. The kale salad provided a refreshing crunch, enhanced by a light dressing. The prices are reasonable, making it an excellent spot for a satisfying meal. This is one of the most popular lunch spots in FIDI prepare to make a line during the lunch rush. Hoy llegue tempranito y encontré el pica pollo acabadito de salir. Estuvo crujiente y muy bien sazonado le sentí un saborcito a jenjibre no se de donde es Carmen pero ella sazona como sazonamos en el Sur de Errede.
Amazing amount of food! A wide variety of options. I would say one of the best quality and quantity to price ratio of the area. A healthier version of a Chipotle, with homestyle cuisine. The line can get long sometimes even tough they just recently opened, but the service is warming and makes the wait worth it! Super recommended!
I have walked pass this place several times and each time there was a line down the block. So Wednesday I decided to wait on line and I am glad that I did. On Wednesday I tried the Salmon with Green Beans, Sautéed Broccoli and Platanos simply delicious. Today, I went for the Fried Seabass with Macaroni and Cheese, Sautéed Broccoli and Platanos....once again, delicious. You will definitely get your money's worth and your tastebuds will not be disappointed. Just be prepared to wait in line for a good home cooked meal.

Never had a beef stew so tender, better than the way I cook it. 10/10 girls, and the prices are good 😌
Carmen’s Kitchen is hands down one of my favorite lunch spots in the neighborhood! The food is delicious, the place is small yet feels clean, priced fairly, and there’s plenty to choose from. Hidden gems like this are hard to come by these days!!!
Delicious Dominican food! They give you healthy portions and the food is great for an amazing price! Just be aware that the line moves quick and there’s no place to sit inside! But so worth it!
Carmen's is a very tiny restaurant that does not have any seating area, so you pretty much have to choice what you want to eat, purchase, and leave. I want to tell you that the food selection is good as well as the taste. The price is definitely competitive as well as the portions . Carmen's is a good to place that provides that difference when you are tired of fast food and want to surprise your taste buds with a delicious change. I've tried the salmon, and the jerk chicken so far. My favorite sides was the broccoli, yellow rice and a sweet potato.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Small spot with big homemade flavor! Everything we tried was delicious and felt freshly made with love. A hidden gem in the middle of Wall Street hustle. Highly recommended!

The lines can get really long during lunch (12-3pm). I had rice, fried fish, beans and broccoli. It was ok, not memorable. The rice and peas with stew chicken was better.
Food was excellent but the staff kept getting the orders wrong due to poor command of English. I wanted a grilled chicken but they kept hearing as Jerky chicken. Ended up with stewed chicken which was a nice surprise. Wish there were more labels and a more organised ordering system or just staff who can speak English a little better.

Unbeatable prices for great food with great portions in this area. Their chicken is so delicious. However, they seem to run out of stock often on chicken which is a big negative. I usually come sometimes during the afternoon just to be told that they ran out of chicken. So come earlier during the day. Large lines sometimes on weekends.
The food is good but the care of your food. My food was messy & wet. I could not eat it. They don't take the time to separate your food. If i have gravy why would you let my food swim in it?

I don't often write reviews. I informed them that I found an Anisakis in their fried fish fillet and they probably should watch their fish supply although it's cooked. They told me their fish is fresh from supplier. As someone who works with raw fish every single day in a food establishment, I feel like the response wasn't so nice and I was a little disappointed with how they handled my complain, I wasn't even asking for a refund at all and I brought the leftover food I couldn't eat anymore because I lost my appetite. I will not come back anymore, clearly can't expect too much.
I had read reviews online that said this place was Dominican, so I was super excited given that I am Dominican. And in this part of Manhattan the closest you get to Latin food is Mexican cuisine. So from a proud Dominican customer- this place is absolutely 100% NOT Dominican food. I wouldn’t want non Dominican people to come here and think this is what our food taste like or looks like, I took one look at the potato salad, and if anyone would have shown up with that dish to our family event, my aunts would have had a heart attack- that potato salad is nothing like what Dominicans make, this would be a disgrace. Anyways, on to the review- I had the bbq chicken, Mac and cheese, Moro (rice with red beans), and yuca. The Mac and cheese was not fresh- it tasted like it’s been reheated a few times this week. The Moro was okay but lacked flavor. The bbq chicken was good, and the yuca was good as well. The place is very small, no more than two ppl fit in there at a time, which is fine. The place did not look clean, which was a concern given that this is a food establishment. Nonetheless this is NYC, every restaurant has its mishaps when it comes to sanitation.
NYC HEALTH CODE VOILATION Overcrowded with boxes . I saw the guy in the red shirt dip his hand in a tray of meat and eat it. That is disgusting This is a shared space between the pizza place. There will always be a box of something that will eventually fall on you if your not careful. There is often a big bag of pizza dough pans tied up in garbage bag outside the door of the store facing/ covering the subway sign. There organizational skills sucks. You can tell that no one washes down the sidewalk where these two restaurants connect. The side of the sidebar is disgusting. I will be honest. My first time purchasing from this restaurant the food was amazing. The second time I was sick for a week. I'm not sure if it's the way the servers processed my order. Or if it is the food itself. The first time i was there the servers ( a short guy with a mask) took all precautions to not contaminate my food. .The second and third time. I notice the plexiglass barrier was not high enough for a customer to talk over or cough over the food. I also noticed the the workers ( mostly females) did not wear gloves or a mask completely over their faces. * Its flu time. The woman can barely speak English but they know how to flaunt their body parts to male customers. The beans and sucks. It is often clumped up The vegetables are often served with vegetables that mat have between sitting in the bin for a while The food temperature is often cold. I have to come back to the office to heat my food up. I swear everytime I eat there food I feel like throwing up. Good I purchased food three times Something is not right As soon as I bite into the food full fledged nausea huts me.
