Doc Watson's New York Reviews
I keep coming back to this Doc Watson's whenever I can! The workers have known my name since my first visit and maintain impressive attention to detail. The meals maintained quality, I want to be clear. The whole restaurant operates smoothly. The workers here show professionalism.
In NYC for the day and needed a spot with good food and smooth drinks and we were very happy to have landed here. Sitting by the windows in the back was a vibe too. 2 entrees and 6 drinks came out to about $150 and I’d pay it again. Bathroom is a bit small for the ladies but it was clean.
Picked up takeout from here. I was craving a good sheppards pie and Doc Watsons didn’t disappoint! My hubby got corned beef and cabbage and a side of wings. Wings were a bit spicy but he still ate them and he said the corned beef and cabbage was good too. Next time I’d like to enjoy the atmosphere there with a nice cold beer!
Went here on a cold Sunday and it is such a cozy place! It’s decorated beautifully for Christmas and a great place to watch some football. I got the spicy bowl, per the recommendation of our waitress, and my fiancé got the curry wrap. They both had an excellent amount of spice and were tasty. They also really filled them up with chicken. Hard to find a place in the city that gives you that much protein for a reasonable price but they do it!
Overall rating: 4.6 Super cute, watering hole in UES. I was in the area meeting friends and I really felt the local vibe which is hard to come by these few days. I got an espresso martini which was really good, but the sliders were OMG AMAZING. Very filling, very delicious. I was expecting the fries to be alright, but damn, they were good too! I’m so surprised for a chill bar. I wouldn’t mindddd if the prices were more reasonable, but I don’t expect anything else from eating in Manhattan. I’m not going to let the price affect how good this slider was! I recommend giving it a try if you’re in the area!
Very hospitable and full of locals. We were in a seating area that wasn't quite the bar or quite a table and everyone was willing to jump in and help us. Nice happy hour deals and daily specials. My girlfriend just moved to this neighborhood and I can see this being a regular casual watering hole!
Overall a great bar with lots of seating both downstairs and upstairs, sometimes they open the back patio as well, it is super nice. The menu is extensive with lots of great options, I think the hidden gem here is the salads, I got the Cobb salad and it was great. Lots of bacon and chicken, put a little Buffalo sauce on it and you’re set. Service is thoughtful and speedy, not much to ask for from a great city bar. Come for the game or a late night munch. The Philly cheese sliders are delicious, along with roasted veggies, and the Buffalo wings.
Solid bar with solid food. Went here for the jets game on a Sunday afternoon (4pm games). Small crowd. Mostly older folks. Lowkey. Not loud. I didnt love the cocktails. 4 out of 7 options have coffee or espresso - not always a bad thing but its like 5/6pm and Im not looking for that. The mule wasnt my favorite. The cocoa bomb was great. I got the Jalapeño mango wings and they were not hot. Definitely sweet. 10 medium sized wings. Not breaking any records here but they’re good. Fries were great. Sliders were good. Solid all around.
Nice brunch spot, with a fixed price of 18$ and two drinks. The food is pretty good and there’s quite a wide choice of things. It is quite clean and it’s a nice pub. Staff is nice although our waiter kept stressing us to leave (it was quite empty) I always take the avocados and toast, today was the first time that my eggs on top were over cooked, but our waiter took care of it rapidly and it was delicious as usual.
Food was better then I expected. The waitress was distracted by what appeared to be a boyfriend at the bar. I felt bad bothering her.
The turkey burger was basic—nothing to write home about. But the lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were fresh, which helped. Fries were hot and crispy, just right. The spicy chicken sandwich stood out: crunchy, well-executed, and the bacon took it up a notch. The maple waffle fries were a pleasant surprise—crispy, sweet-savory, and unlike your usual side. Service was spot-on across the board.
Working in the area so decided to give it a try. Cool little Irish bar. The weather was beautiful so they had the whole place open good cross breeze. Bartender was cool. Took care of us. I had a John Daly and the Chicken Cobb salad. The salad was good. I did dig in a little before the picture so it is bigger than the photo. Was a Saturday so the menu was mainly brunch and breakfast.
Dear Mr. Owner. I visited your bar after a few years of absence and I have known this place for 25 years and I found that nothing has changed. This is good and bad at the same time. The food is still decent but even the best food in a room that does not have air conditioning is not very pleasant. Technology has advanced and you do not have to install central air conditioning but one air conditioner right above the entrance door is a disgrace and a mockery. The only way to cool down here is to order another cold beer. Is this your way of running a bar? I really have a good opinion of the rest of your establishment but IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE AND TO INVEST SOME OF YOUR PROFITS so that customers feel more comfortable.
Food is overpriced and below par service leaves a lot to be desired. They take phone orders but they actually just don’t put them together. They’ll wait a long time in line. Lotta loud noise lotta TV screens. There are much better places in this neighborhood for your dollar.
