Parnell's New York Reviews
AMAZING NEIGHBORS, AMAZING CITIZENS. First of all the food is great pub fare. Great burgers, great brunch, great bar snacks. My compliment today is what incredible fellow citizens they are here at Parnell's. From the first snowflakes, the staff here cleaned the sidewalk and crosswalk so their neighbors could walk freely.... even the crosswalk! And today i noticed they have shoveled every last bit of the mountains of ice from that side of the street. I just want to thank you for being so considerate of all your neighbors and strangers that will walk on the cleared of sidewalk! AMAZING! OUTSTANDING! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Friendly place, not snobby. Feels like a real locals bar; not made for tourists.
I always leave happy, and you will too. Our complete order came fresh, tasted excellent and showed skilled cooking. Our area has welcomed this restaurant warmly. Restaurant team members are genuinely nice. You should sample all menu items.
The high school where I teach had their year end luncheon for the faculty at Parnell’s. The manager, Brian, was so accommodating and gave us a great deal because we were a school. We had a lovely buffet and the food was delicious. Our server, Prenka, was efficient, friendly and so accommodating. I would highly recommend Parnell’s for any event and also just to have lunch with a friend, as I have also enjoyed.
Been there a few times for burgers. Lost in Sutton with Neary's and Morso gone. The special was pasta and shrimp, I thought, why not? It was fantastic! Pasta cooked very well, capers and lemon in butter wine sauce and almost tempura like shrimp. Really excellent!
Great Hamburger! It’s StPatricks Day so the place is packed and very lively but I live nearby and the place has a decent crowd.
Some friends and family recently held a memorial brunch service at Parnell's and it was a really lovely time. The staff at Parnell's are top notch people - friendly, fast, thoughtful, and caring. For what was at times a somber occasion, the Parnell's crew took care of all of us. Never had an empty glass or plate that lingered. Food was great - fresh and cooked just right. Big thank you to the Sunday morning crew at Parnell's for serving good food, good spirits, and friendly smiles.
I’ve been here a few times over the past couple years to meet with a friend/business colleague who is a regular. In midtown Manhattan it’s hard to find bars anymore that are nice and still have a “local feel”. This place is great. The atmosphere is nice . The burger is great and the drinks are very fairly priced for Manhattan. Very close the the UN and Consulate district so you get a nice blend of folks from time to time . Cheers!
Consistently good food and service is great except after 9pm they close the back dining room, strange because the restaurant is open until 11 most nites and the kitchen is in the back. Depending upon the night the cuisine can be spectacular. The special 3-taco special is superb as well as Duck a l'Orange if you hit a nite when the real chef is there. Fantastic warm atmosphere, tablecloths, well-spaced tables. We are extremely lucky to have such a well-run, lovely pub in our neighborhood. I take all guests and friends there. They love it too! BTW some nites there are drunk people sitting at tables who shout loudly when speaking, but they are cheerful and mean no harm - part of the atmosphere!
The Guinness seemed like it was served in a 10z glass....nevermind getting a proper pint or 20oz glass. Like a junior size compared to other Irish Pubs. Wrong item to skimp your customers on. Food was good though.
I like the bar and atmosphere. Old world charm. But my “happiness” was short lived as they are probably the only pub in the area without a Happy Hour so it became relatively expensive compared to other bars, pubs, restaurants in the area. I had made a plan to meet an old friend who suggested meeting there. I had a few drinks and ordered an entree. My friend just ordered an iced tea and then another iced tea. Probably my mistake but on the specials board it was promoted “Taco Tuesday” so I figured ok maybe it’s good. Bad move. It wasn’t good. $24 for 3 small tasteless tacos. But my bad for ordering Mexican at an Irish Pub. The check came and the bartender had charged me $10 for 2 iced teas. I had asked if there were refills but there was not. Seems like a lot of $$ to charge for 2 iced teas. That rubbed me the wrong way. The wine was $14 and the draft was $9 which I guess isnt terrible but at many locations the happy hour price was 1/2. The service was decent and the atmosphere good. The food was ehh. Maybe I should’ve had the fish and chips. Won’t be going back
There really isn't something too special about this pub. I have gone there multiple times because a former supervisor loves it for their lunch specials (~$20/per person, and you get a soup or a salad plus a "main dish"). The thing is, the flavors there have failed to impress me time after time. So I wouldn't recommend it necessarily for much, it's just OK. They need to revamp and rethink their menu.
The only reason I used to keep going here is that my son likes the chicken parm. But my salmon was dry and inedible. Potatoes seemed like they were reheated in the microwave from days ago. Tasteless and awful. The best thing is the service is always friendly. I won’t be going back and don’t recommend.
