Summer Salt New York Reviews
The baja shrimp tacos here are perfect. It's even better with a frozen margarita. The ambiance has a Southern California vibe and the food has a California beach flavor. It's a fun place to stop by for drinks and good tacos!
I'm from California. If you want a Santa Monica style burrito, this is the best I've had in NYC since moving here 7 months ago. I'm still looking for a San Francisco/Mission style place, but this is scratching the itch for now! And you follow them as they make your burrito across the counter like at a CA taqueria. Very happy to find this!
The food was so good. Some of the best I've had in New York. Absolutely stop by Summer Salt. Your stomach will thank you. Big portions and great flavor. Lots of options and sides. The staff was super friendly and professional. We were served quickly and correctly. No complaints! The vibe and décor are fun. Surfer/Cali vibes. Lots of neat wall-hangings with a few surprising items to find. They do a lot with the small space, but without feeling cluttered or claustrophobic. Very clean shop. Not a lot of space, but plenty of seating (or carry out). Bathrooms were very clean, too. Se habla español
Yum yum! Like so yummy! The food was so good. I can't wait to go back. Big portions and great flavor. Lots of options and sides. The staff was super friendly and professional. No complaints! Decor is fun. Surfer/Cali vibes. Very clean shop. Bathtrooms were very clean, too. Absolutely stop by Summer Salt. Your stomach will thank you.
Ive been here many times for lunch during work I just never reviewed it. Probably my fav fast casual burrito spot tbh just the option of having tator tots instead of rice is beautiful and makes the burrito that much more delicious. The salsa they put in is the perfect spice level, and the ingredients are distributed well. It’s massive and so filling too!!!
Walked into an unassuming casual Mexican joint yesterday. The reviews were promising and we weren’t looking for something fancy. Summer Salt offered Mission Style and California Style burritos and bowls and an assortment of build your own tacos. Their Carne Asada steak was exceptionally seasoned and cooked perfectly. But it was their adobo shrimp was the highlight of both my wife’s bowl and my tacos. The staff was incredibly nice, they let my confused pregnant wife try both the shrimp and the steak and then when she couldn’t decide added both to her bowl, along with mixing the rice and the fries of the mission style base and California style base. will definitely be going back for more!
One of the best burritos I've had in the city, and one of very few I know that does crispy fish with baja sauce; brought me right back to burritos I had growing up in southern California. The burrito was massive, the staff were very friendly, and the vibes were great. Very great deal for the amount of food you get. I will definitely be coming back every chance I get!
Baja crispy fish burrito hits the spot! Got California style (w fries inside instead of the rice and beans) and that was just like crispy deliciousness on top of crispy! Also shared an order of chips and guac with my brother. Personally felt the chips and guac were underwhelming and excessive in addition to a burrito each, but we were curious. Will be coming back for the crispy fish burrito, but def not the chips. They check vaccination status for indoor dining which is good. Easy ordering process and they make it in front of you. Basically like chipotle but with fish and shrimp options and obviously better tasting.
Excellent fish tacos! I love me some fish tacos! I definitely recommend the fried and Adobe fish tacos. They were delicious. The staff was friendly. The place is nice done. The place is clean. This is right on 23rd street between 5th and 6th avenue. Definitely a great place to get tacos! Check it out for sure.
Oh wow! What an amazing find during quarantine 😍 This place reminds us of our trip to San Diego. We got half carne asada and half shrimp to make a classic surf and turf burrito. The tortilla was nice and thin and chewy. Everything was really fresh and tasty. Will definitely come back again soon!
Chipotle like California style Mexican food. Just average food and service. Pan Seared Adobo Fish was cut into pieces, and there was not enough of it for the price... Can't even see it in the bowl. The guac is extra but it was iced cold, so it made my food cold... I had to microwave it for a few secs to get it to room temp. I would probably try it again less the guac so I can actually taste the fish.
Oh goodness… my review is solely based on the quality and taste of food. I told my (Mexican-American) husband if I had cooked this at home, I’d be saying “oh man, I f’ed up”. Like I don’t usually leave bad reviews but this was not only the worst “Mexican” foods I’ve ever tasted, but one of the worst foods period I’ve had. The carne asada taco was soooo overcooked that the texture was like it was canned and tasted like liquid smoke, and as my butcher husband says, definitely not short rib meat. The fish taco, better of the two we tried, barely ok, nothing to mention. Guac was so smooth it has to be store-bought or else that’s just a huge shame that a homemade turned out like that. Why does this place have 4.5 stars? It’s one thing to pay for mediocre food and a whole another thing paying for BAD food, and I’m not picky lol.
