Underground Pizza New York Reviews
Hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had. We stopped in for an early lunch and were blown away — the crust, the sauce, everything was perfect. We had a great time visiting with the original owner and founder. What a great guy! You can taste the authenticity and care in every bite. Friendly atmosphere, incredible food, and a place we’ll be thinking about long after our trip. Don’t miss this spot.
While visiting New York We happen to be just walking around and stumbled in. Food was delicious. I have had all types of pizza. My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed the service and atmosphere. Ben was wonderful to talk to. All the ingredients are fresh and what he can he makes from scratch. We will definitely be back on our next trip.
The pizza was so warm, chewy, and satisfying. It was doughy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, and the crust had a really lovely taste that complimented the rest of the pizza. The employees were all really friendly and they heated up the pizzas in the oven so that they were warm and fresh to eat.
Underground Pizza is an absolute hidden gem in New York. From the moment you walk in, the vibe feels unique laid back, cool, and everything you want from a true NYC pizza spot. The food? Next level!!! The crust is perfectly crispy on the outside with that soft, chewy inside that only the best pizza places can pull off. Their toppings are fresh, loaded, and full of flavor without feeling heavy. Customer service was outstanding, too. The staff was friendly, fast, and genuinely cared that everything came out perfect. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Easily one of the best slices in the city. Highly recommend! 🍕🔥
Excellent NY Pizza! The crust was crispy and the dough soft and perfect. We had two slices of pepperoni and mushroom. It was amazing. They offer up an extensive menu and a charming atmosphere. The folks behind the counter are helpful and warm. Prices are moderate to low. Service excellent, food over-the-top delicious.
Don’t let looks fool you- the pizza here is amazing! The shop itself is pretty unassuming but there was plenty of seating inside that was cleanly. I noticed bathrooms as well but did not use them so I cannot comment on the cleanliness there. I was so happy to see garlic knots here!! Not enough pizza places have garlic knots imo. I really enjoyed the large slice of pepperoni I ordered and the pepperonis were thick. Relatively cheap too! Definitely would recommend a stop here for lunch or a quick dinner
Great pizza close to Wall St and the Ferry Port if coming from uptown. The pizza smelled so good walking in. The staff was very friendly to our family. Recommend the Sicilian slice with all 3 pizza sauces. Good amount of seating for NYC and the lunch special gave us 2 slices and a drink for $10.50.
I was staying at a nearby hotel and was researching where to get a good slice. The two that ended up being tops were underground pizza and joes so I did a pizza taste off between them. Spoiler alert: Underground Pizza won. I got 3 slices: pepperoni, mushroom, and buffalo chicken. Underground pizza has slices that are thin but not floppy, high quality toppings (beautiful pepperoni cups), and cheese that truly compliments the whole experience. Joes slices were slightly larger and had a slightly better topping distribution but Underground was the winner in a big way. Also appreciated talking with the owner when I told him what I was doing. Excellent guy and hope he reads this because I told him I’d come back and tell him who won!
Found this pizza shop after a quick google search of what was next to me in NYC. I’m so glad that this little gem of a pizza shop came up. It’s a walk up counter and they have a variety of slices to choose from. We choose pepperoni/ sausage, pepperoni, and white. Once you choose they put it in a big oven and it comes out nice and toasty. You can choose to sit at the bar on the first floor. Or you can go up a small slight of stairs to sit down and eat. They is also a bathroom here if you should need it. Definitely give it a try you won’t be disappointed.
The vodka slice at underground pizza was my favourite slice in New York and came as recommendation from my partners father. In my short stay I tried many places but this took the top spot, not my usual Neapolitan pizza but I wish I could have another slice. Amazing depth of flavour, proper amounts of sauce and cheese with a super crisp and airy base. The “soda” as the yanks call it was very sweet just to my taste. The only discrepancy was the garlic knots weren’t very flavoursome. Iv had more garlic taste from a Frenchman’s breath. However that Vodka slice pushed the 5star 👍🏻 Highly recommend.
I was staying in the Financial District when I got the craving for a slice of Margherita Pizza. I really enjoyed this slice: it's ultra-thin, yet saucy. If you like a thin profile with the perfect sauce, this is the place for you. The only thing I wish it had was a little more basil. Thank you, Underground Pizza!
I reserve 5 pizza stars for only the holy grail pizzerias, but was visiting back home in NYC from Florida and took the ferry to FiDi, which is something of a pizza desert. We were with our little one and needed something quick and close and found Underground Pizza and it absolutely did not disappoint. The pizza was really good, and the owner was super cool. God how I wish I could stumble upon random pizzerias in Florida that have been there for decades and have pizza that can knock your socks off. Almost makes me want to move back! Not quite, but almost 🍕
