Good margaritas and food!! What more could you want from a Mexican place?
Excellent service and food, as is customary here.
The burritos were amazing. I wish you were open for longer hours.
Amazing food, staff and prices.
I liked it very much. Food is good, and the waiters there are nice.

Excellent mole poblano!
an excellent Mexican restaurant a great place to eat and I recommend that michelada I recommend also Chile rellenos shrimp and steak fajitas.
Best kept secret in NYC. Delicious food at affordable price. The ambiance is cozy. Must visit.
Out of every city I've ever been, this is my favorite place for Mexican food.
me and my girlfriend been going year for 2 years and the food is always GOOD !
This place and its staff are consistantly on point. Friendly great food comfortable seating
Quality local Mexican fare. Everything is a winner on this classic menu, at an affordable price. Friendly family run joint worth the trip.
Love having dinner there. Miguel is a sweetheart and the lady owner is very friendly as well. The food is good!
Best Mexican food in Brooklyn, try the chorizo burrito. It's not on the menu but it's outstanding. Less expensive then the other places and more space. Sean
Excellent service. Variety of choices. Food is delicious. Clean establishment. Pleasant ambiance.
Great authentic Mexican food! Service is excellent. Food is delicious! Pork burrito is my favorite dish.
Authentic Mexican dishes, spacious and peaceful setting inside or outside right off the subway.
Excellent food excellent service! Miguel is the best I come here all the time
Been coming here for years. The food and service and entire experience is always fun and tasty.
Great and authentic food! Super friendly staff.
I have lived in the neighborhood for 8 years, and never once have I gotten a disappointing plate of food here. It can take a while to get your food, but that's because they make everything to order, and I definitely taste the difference. My personal favorite is the cochinita burrito.
I've been with my daughter since before her fourth birthday and she's 18 now, so Aida the owner knows and loves her, basically since they opened. I love the service and the food. The best guacamole.
My husband and I have lived in the neighborhood for over four years now and Don Burrito has been our go to for a reasonably priced, tasty, sit-down restaurant in the area since we moved here. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, with pleasant servers and a relaxing ambiance. The food is solid. I particularly love their mole enchiladas and their tortilla soup, in fact, I think their mole poblano sauce is one of the best tasting I've had in a long time (complex, not too sweet, and deeply satisfying). While they do serve alcohol, they don't have a bar--just a few Mexican beers, red and white sangria, plus your basic margarita. I wouldn't complain if they upped their margarita game beyond margarita mix, the prices are reasonable and the drinking atmosphere is low key. NYC is far from the standard of Mexican food and Don Burrito doesn't have much on the menu that you wouldn't see in your standard Mexican restaurant (though recently they've made a few additions to their menu which expands their offerings a bit)--i.e. I wouldn't travel from Queens just to try the Mexican here (though if you're a mole fan, I do think their's is worth at least a few subway stops). However, if you're in the general area, I would highly recommend this as a spot to have a nice meal. You'll be able to find things on the menu for more picky eaters while still being able to chose options that are authentic and flavorful. If you actually live in the neighborhood, this really is one of the nicest places you can go for a good meal without paying a lot of money. We keep going back and are never disappointed.
I found Don Burrito by accident, looking for a quick lunch that could be delivered, I popped in while doing my chores and ordered for myself and a friend. The food arrived quickly, hot, and delicious! Those quesadillas were incredible! I thought I'd give Don Burrito another go for lunch today and ordered a burrito. Oh my God they did it again! Absolutely mouth watering delicious! This is no fast food operation, this is "real" authentic Mexican food and I'm hooked! The staff is friendly and accommodating, I tend to be a picky consumer and they satisfied my finicky tastes to the T. Thanks Don Burrito for turning out a quality product in this age of stale fast food options. Huge fan!
Wonderful atmosphere, I never have to wait for a table. The food is delicious. I'm back here as often as possible. The fajita 3 way is awesome.
Having been here several times their service is really courteous and prompt. The food is excellent with its own regional flair, as would be expected from a traditional Mexican quisine restaurant.
Food is amazing, drinks are great and the service is just phenomenal. I love their festive atmosphere and the music. The owner and her son, Miguel, are a delight.
The food is consistently excellent (amazing mole), the staff is always friendly and inviting and I know that no matter what I'll enjoy my meal. Try the micheladas, too. Some of the restaurants on Cortelyou could learn a thing or two from this Newkirk plaza hole in the wall.
They have great food the Mexican Hot Chocolate is to die for . I never drank regular hot chocolate after I had theirs. The fajitas three ways are fresh and they bring it out sizzling on a skillet.
Everything on menu very good. Some items like cemitas, sandwiches on special bread, are not on menu but signs announce availability. They start you off with complimentary tacos & salsa. Clientele includes those you'd expect who grew up on food like Mexican plus norteamericaños who like the dishes. Dimmed lights and unobtrusive recorded Mexican music sometimes with yodels & accordions make for a comfortable ambience. Two baños available. Mexican beers & margaritas available; also horchatas.
Food is very good, not greasy, not overly seasoned. My favorite dish is burrito verde, made with chicken breast, it's delicious! Also carnitas tacos are to die for.
The food is wonderful. This is a very popular place for good reason. It is well worth the wait. I'm glad that I'm living in this neighborhood so that I can patronize Don Burrito.
One of my favorite places in the area. Been supporting this business for years. One of the things that got me threw when I couldn't eat much was there soup. They have the best chicken soup in the area. Thanks don burrito 🌯
It's a really nice place to either celebrate any special occasion or just to enjoy a delicious meal. The service tremendous friendly and helpful definitely my favorite Mexican spot.
Used to eat here at least once a week until I moved upstate but I make sure to stop by every time I'm in town. Great prices, large portions, friendly staff, and amazing food. The Mi Pueblo Burrito is incredible
My husband and I visited for the first time and ordered the steak chimichanga and the grilled steak enchiladas. Both dishes were delicious, generous in portion, and full of flavor. The plates were served warm, which helped keep the food at the perfect temperature—especially appreciated during the winter. The service was excellent: respectful, kind, and attentive. The restaurant is clean and cozy, making for a very pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back. As a bonus, it’s located right by the subway entrance, which is incredibly convenient. We loved the experience!
This store is underrated. Easily some of the best Mexican food in Brooklyn. They have beautiful atmosphere and amazing service. I cannot recommend them enough. When I say everything they make is good, I mean everything! Try it
After three days of eating food in a hotel, this made me feel like a real person again.
I loved the chicken enchiladas ,the Toscana is also really good
A favorite neighborhood spot. Love their mole sauce. The ‘to go’ order of enchiladas usually lasts me 2 meals. If you visit with 3+ people the Margarita pitcher is a great deal, margs do come from the machine so not the best ever but great price + good times def recommend! Guac is super fresh
Moved to the area 2 months ago and this is my go to “flavor” comfort food spot for the consistency and quality of ingredients especially the steak/chicken. Great pricing & the in-house salsa does the trick. Margs are solid and well price too! Really enjoy returning here. Wishing them many more years.
A nice restaurant that's been around for 20 years. The food is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly. Lots of options on the menu to choose from. My go-to order is the steak torta. Miguel the manager will take good care of you!
Good food, nice staff. Easy to get to. No fuss, and a pretty good sized menu. Free nachos and salsa when we sat down were good. Very attentive staff. It's not a huge place, but they have outdoor seating, too.
C’mon in, el me solicitado través la puerta, c’mon in y prueba la comida mexicana más deliciosa de Ee.Uu, tenemos burritos hecho aquí en los Estados Unidos. Mejores que los burritos de Mexico. No hay burritos en Mexico, I replied without raising my voice, knowing full well this was a controversial issue. The burrito in México is a different animal all together. In I went, hopeful, but not ecstatic, this was not my first fiesta brava. I ordered some turkey-breasted mezcal and drank it down like tequila - Hidalgo! Before long and before you’d know it out was carried a burrito on a porcelain plate. Salsa, beer, and three mariachis followed in swift succession. Although the burrito was on the small side, the atmosphere was festive, the service attentive, and the overall experience muy padrisimo - absolutamente recomendado 🌮
Come here! The staff is friendly, the food is great with large portions, and the prices are so so reasonable. I was originally going to get a lime margarita but the waitress told she could also do a tamarind water with tequila so i had to do that. The steak tacos were fantastic. Thanks!
Really liked their food. It tasted fresh and was seasoned just right. Its one of those local places in the new Kirk plaza area (take q train to new Kirk plaza) that you will miss if you are not looking. Prices are decent and the service is good. You can do take out or dine in. The decor gives a small restaurant feel where it's dimly lit and has nice music. It can hold up to parties of 4. Don't know if they take reservations . If you are in the area I would recommend trying this place out.
I love this restaurant. It's like dining in someone's home. The customer service is so personable, tasteful, and consistent. The food is excellent. Always freshly cooked and displayed beautifully on your dinner plate. I highly recommend the restaurant to neighbors, colleagues and friends. Keep up the great job!
Great food..hospitality needs work but overall great food!!!!!
Excellent food and nice people love the burrito Verde with yellow rice and refried beans.
Liked it...only downside is that they charge extra for seconds on the nachos with salsa.
Good place to have a nice quiet meal. Good place to being the family. Decently good prices.
Good service, very nice selection and servings, great value and extremely convenient location. This is what "Nuevo Mexico" used to be at the old location when they were small, friendly and good,
I ordered delivery from here for the first time the other night. The guy over the phone was really nice and the food came quickly. Really tasty Mexican food, I ordered the chicken nachos and I was happy with it. Looking forward to ordering from them again.
Had the mole enchiladas - they were very good. The chips and salsa were also tasty. The waiter seemed not to care too much about us being there however.
Layout/atmosphere *Located right above Newkirk Plaza train station; brightly painted walls/standard Mexican restaurant decor, one TV inside; enclosed outdoor dining area on sidewalk Service *Good Food/drink *El Mexicano Burrito (steak marinated in Mexican sauce; topped with cheese; Mexican rice and refried beans on the side) - solid; decent amount of food for price but not overly filling
The food is just.. okay, prices are fair, and the service is okay. It's not great, but not bad. Don't know that I will come again but wouldn't be completely opposed to it.
We have become regulars. My friend and I were trying to find a new restaurant closer to us for authentic and delicious Mexican food! Thee Don has captured our hearts, and we have been addicted ever since. The margaritas are on point. The food has yet to let us down as well. The staff is awesome and I look forward to coming back. The plusity plus plus in my opinion is how affordable this restaurant is for the quality! Bang for your buck I tell you, this is not the margaritas talking. I decided to write this review after my fourth time going because I had to make sure! Thank you so much Don Burrito!
They were overwhelmed with customers and slow. The food was ok. If I have no other options and I'm hungry, I'll give it another try.
disappointed in this place. i biked all the way there hoping to grab a nice bite. the burrito was pretty basic. the meat was ok, the guac was ok, the salsa was watered down, the beans and rice were bland (and small portions). it was reasonably priced at $8 but they charged me $1.29 for hot sauce. granted, it seemed homemade, but too spicy for me to really eat. a bottle of cholula would've been fine. the service was good and i like newkirk plaza, but i will have to grab my mexican food elsewhere.
I ordered the bar-b-que 1/2 chicken with yellow rice and French fries. The fries was good, the chicken was dry. I probably won't eat here again.
The food is pretty good but the service is extremely slow- over 30 min to get food on a sunday afternoon.
The food here is okay better then the other Mexican spots in the area at least. Sometimes I order or dine in. The prices are also very good. The only thing that's negative which if it continues I will stop eating here altogether is the staff. There is a lady who works there that can be very nasty at times. She is sometimes rude or slams the phone when your are dine ordering for delivery makes up think they are going to spit in your food lol. The other staff member are OK but kind of bland so because of this makes the place less likable other then that it's OK.
I couldn't order I was left on the phone for over 10 min hang up and call back, busy tone. Never place a order
Food is ok... charging for hot sauce is such a turn off. I've never had that happen before.
I ordered take out, it came really fast, there was a lot of food but it was tasteless. No seasoning. Maybe it was because I ordered at 9:30 pm. This was my first time ordering from them. I will be ordering from my regular local Mexican restaurant going forward, so much for trying other places.
took for ever (45mins) to get the food done and very small portions (burrito and enchiladas) staff seemed lost the first lady that took us was neutral the second was nice but very lost. would give it another chance since ive only been once. prices are good enough to reconsider.
My wife and I ordered a couple burritos and chicken nachos... The burritos were okay, and the chicken nachos were unfortunately very bad. The chicken breast wasn’t even seasoned and chopped in squares..?? I’ve eaten chicken nachos before from different restaurants and have never been served this type of nacho dish. This looks like they ran out of the shredded chicken and thought this was okay.
Honestly, I had better places. I tried so much to give this place a chance but the food is not that great, very dry
Was good 5 yeats ago. BUT now sfaff is showed to be really unprofessional and bad mannered. Trying to get rid of customers and close earlier by putting the same disgusting 30 seconds loop of noise and drinkink with friends in the other side of that small dark hole. And what more, not alowing to seat on any free table on the whole side close to their party. Never again.
The tacos were so bland they had no seasoning I also waited 15 minutes for my food and was not happy with the results . The rice was a store bought box rice and the beans were grounded too nothing I would never go back here .
Wow. I will never order here again. To start (and repeat what others have said) the food had no taste. Also the portions are way too small for the prices they charge. We ordered a fajita and a quesadilla. The quesadilla is half the size i get anywhere else. The shrimp quesadilla had refried beans, onions, about 1/2 a bell pepper, 1/8th of a tomato, and 5 shrimp. All for the steal of $18 (no exageration).
Very bland, tasteless food. Service is lacking and unprofessional. Portion sizes are very small. Drinks are just iced sugar water with sweet and sour mix. Effectively mocktails and not even good ones at that.
Food has progressively gotten worst. The portion size are smaller and the food is tasteless. Such a disappointment. Even the kids notice the decline in quality. Such a shame!! we would not be eating here again.
On Sunday 9/23/18 I came into this restaurant and asked if one of my special needs client could use their bathroom. The server said yes, and we entered the restaurant. As my client was walking into the restroom, the server says our restrooms are for our customers only. This was after we asked, and we were told yes. The server then proceeds to roll their neck and say but didn't you just come from dunkin donuts? I'm not sure why this server felt the need to address me in such a manner, because I don't speak that type of body language. However I replied no my client just came from dunkin donuts. Then they continue with the bad behavior. Well why did she use the bathroom at dunkin donuts then, they ask? My response, if you didn't want us to use the bathroom, then you should just have said no. Please do not think that you allowed her to use the bathroom, just for you us to come in here for you to disrespect us over a bathroom. They replied OK. No apology, nothing. My client finishes using the bathroom, and I made sure it was clean. She said Thank you to the rude server, and we left. FYI there wasn't a bathroom at the dunkin donuts that we were in. I do not returm rudeness with rudeness, I write reviews.
It took almost an hour and a half to get our food (delivery, midday). It was ice cold when it arrived. And they mislabeled the meals so my vegan girlfriend got a big mouthful of fish and sour cream. Plus, the portion sizes and ingredient quality sucked for such high prices. This place is definitely off the list.
Never thought I’d say this for a Mexican restaurant, but the food had no seasoning. Honestly I had more authentic Mexican food in Tacobell. Just look at the picture, that pic is screaming “add color and seasoning to me”.The staff couldn’t get the order correct. They kept coming out with new plates and taking them back to the kitchen.
