Fabulous wine bar with a lovingly curated, locally driven selection. I was lucky to find myself there on “Wine Wednesday,” where mere glass prices are charged for whole carafes (a deal which will no doubt see me back future Wednesdays), but even without the deal, prices are very accessible. My second glass (or, well, carafe) was from a producer with whom I wasn’t previously familiar, and I was delighted to be brought into “the know” — be sure to look for P. Harrell, if their wines are being poured. I was additionally pleased to see that same wine for just $38 on the retail shelves. As a student, I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to drink such wonderful wines without breaking the bank. I look forward to my next visit to Alta Vina!

Lovely wine bar with a nice, laid back vibe and a great selection! The woman who helped us gave a very thorough overview of each wine, where it was grown and the context. We had the flight (which is always my favorite way to do a wine bar) and then had glasses by suggestion afterward. They have a few snacks as well and sparkling water, which I always appreciate. We stopped in here on a Friday night and it was lively, but not so full that we couldnt get seats. Extra bonus points because they are dog friendly and kindly brought our dog a water bowl!

Alta Vina is a lovely wine bar focused primarily on California wines. The hospitality from Henry and KA were top notch. They were both so personable and welcoming and made our experience fantastic. I highly recommend letting them pick a flight for you. $20 for four wines!!! Such a steal. We will definitely be back next time we are in the east bay 💛

I'm so pleased to see this space continue as a wine bar, a real positive addition to the community. I had seen the "coming soon" sign and was tickled pink to encounter Henry, the delightful owner, outside as he was preparing for his soft opening. I returned with an out of town guest as we walked to dinner and we had a lovely time sampling two wines and enjoying a full glass of a third. Henry was warm and welcoming, generously sharing his knowledge and making us feel right at home. He clearly takes pride in executing his vision elevating deserving California wines. I visited once again the next evening because I had one of the wines on my mind and wanted to buy a bottle before he ran out of stock, and inadvertently spent another hour-plus enjoying Henry's hospitality and conversation. Looking forward to what lies ahead and seeing this blossom as a third place for the community. Check it out! Accessible, unpretentious, and chill.

We've come here twice since it opened and have had a great time both times. The wine selection offers an excellent variety of high quality wines. We ended up taking home bottles of some of the wines we tasted. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine, and does a masterful job of walking you through the all of the wines. They also offer great specials on Wednesdays -- no corkage on bottles, and 1.5-glass carafes for the price of a single glass

Awesome new wine bar in Oakland’s Jack London Square area. (For those in the area it’s in the former Mínimo space.) Owner Henry has a ton of fun wine knowledge that shines through on his well. Curated wine tasting list. You can get everything from flights to glasses to bottles. He features excellent NorCal varietals as well as other hidden gems. The space itself is beautiful and clean with ample seating indoors and out. Prices are very reasonable, and he has specials on Wednesday evenings, so I’m going back next week!

Henry is absolutely amazing! The space is really spacious and beautiful. Their selection is good too. All California wines, but not all Pinot and Cab. We had the Cary Q GMT and the Trousseau Gris! Both really yummy. Thank you!

So happy to have this space in the neighborhood! Henry, the owner, is a delight, and has curated a really lovely selection of California wines, many from smaller producers. Highly recommend coming by for a glass (and stay for the snacks)!

It was a joy to stumble upon this gem that is Alta Vina. We happened upon this when looking for a place to relax after a bike ride. We were welcomed with the friendliest smile from Henry. He is so knowledgeable about wine and shares his knowledge with such enthusiasm it makes drinking wine even more enjoyable. They have a great selection of wine. The space is big, warm and inviting . So happy to have this place in the neighborhood. Will definitely be back.

Grab a glass at Henry's, the other wine bars' envy. Curated wines, the experience is divine. Bring your friends, and stay till the end. But wait there's more, flights come in fours. Summertime hot? Ask yourself wine not. Give Alta Vina it's flowers, & hang out for after hours

We accidentally found our way in here during their soft launch. It’s a beautiful space and the owner himself was kind enough to build a full tasting for us when we couldn’t decide what to try. Great wine selection, super unpretentious setting.

As soon as you walk in you are greeted by someone. Henry the owner personally introduces himself and makes you feel welcome. All the wines are from California to showcase wine made in state as opposed to the big names. The wines were really delicious and they offer small bites. I didn't order any because I had just came from dinner but they sounded good and will definitely order next time and I will definitely come back back.

We have visited a couple of times and will definitely continue to come back. Henry, the owner, is very kind, knowledgeable, and creates a welcoming atmosphere. There is a great selection of rotating California wines (N/A as well!) and the space and staff are very dog friendly. A new Jack London neighborhood gem!

Cozy little wine bar with an excellent 5 pour flight for $20. Great bang for your buck and the wines are like nothing I’ve tasted before. Definitely picked up a bottle on the way out.
