La Loulou Oakland Reviews
We shared a cheese and charcuterie board that was beautiful and yummy. They also had a jazz singer and saxophone player when we went that were awesome entertainment! But they did have someone going around with a huge camera and microphone filming the whole night which was a little weird cause we definitely didn't want to be recorded and no one asked. Their bathroom is seriously a must see. I didn't take a picture but it's the best bathroom I've EVER been in a restaurant you HAVE to see it. Great date night spot $75 for 2 people
A truly wonderful place. This bar serves the best Sunday brunch, especially after the Berkeley Half Marathon — exactly what you need to celebrate and recover. Their cheese and charcuterie boards are exceptional and absolutely perfect for birthdays or special gatherings, beautifully curated and generous. The wine selection is hands down one of the best in the Bay, with something for every taste. The owner is incredibly lovely and radiates such positive energy — you can feel it the moment you walk in. The bar is a true reflection of her: welcoming, vibrant, and full of heart. A place you’ll want to come back to again and again. 🧡
This place has a great vibe and the owners really know how to host! We had so much fun during their grand opening, the raclette sandwich is perfectly paired with their wines. I also had a blast on their swing. That's right.. they have an indoor swing seat (fits 2 people)!! See video attached for proof of fun.
This has got to be one of the top 5 cutest bars in Oakland! I love the effort and detail they've put into designing this place. It's really an experience, not just a bar. I'm no wine expert, but I think their selection is great. And for anyone who isn't into wine, they have beer too!
This is such a fun new addition on Piedmont Ave! Right beside the office, this can be a little dangerous for too frequent happy hours. I have managed to taste almost half of the wine list up to now (yes, I’ve been almost every day since they are open), and every wine is a fun surprise. It shows that they have all been thoughtfully picked to bring a big variety. The food is really good. These a small perfect bite to accompany to wines while you’re waiting for dinner! The cheese plate has been accompanied by honey or jam - which brings a fun twist to sweet and salty. Being gluten free, I love that they have good GF crackers as well as delicious olives. The prices are fair (I would even say that the champagne is priced on the low end). There is even an option for flights where you can have a tasting of 3 different wines to equal to a full glass! The staff has been super lovely on every occasion. The owner is also always there and greets you as though you are a friend! I’m excited to see this new establishment flourish to ensure we keep a nice and fun wine bar in our neighborhood!
Such a wonderful vibe. The design of the space, wines, and menu are so thoughtful. So amazing to have this beautiful space to chill in the neighborhood and can’t wait to visit again. The charcuterie w the candied citrus, prosciutto, soft cheese, and honeycomb is so tasty. Vive le vin français 😘
I am in LOVE with the decor here. Great wines. Wished there were more food options tho
I am French and I must say : it feels like home !! What a place. You should definitely checked it out. Fabriques Délices, their supplier for charcuterie and cheese, a must have for a French place. We had a lot of fun, thanks to their team and friends who were there to support. We loved the energy ❤️
Beautiful wine bar with a stunning aesthetic, classy decor, and tasty high quality wines! Love to see this vision come to life and it’s exactly what Piedmont Ave needed.
So cute! Adorable design, great wine. Came for the first time on opening night and it was amazing.

Date night with my wife and had a wonderful experience. Loved the decor and the vibe. Felt like we had a taste of the French experience without leaving Oakland. The wine was fabulous as was the service and attention to detail. Highly recommend the cheese plate! Will visit again and often for date nights.
1/23/26 the esthetics are inspired after an authentic Parisian cafe. We met the owner (French) who walked us through a wine tasting of champagne , Cabernet franc , and Syrah - incredible wine for $23 ! They also serve charcuterie , bread, and small bites .
La Loulou is such a charming spot on Piedmont Avenue! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, but what truly makes the experience special is the owner. She’s incredibly warm, welcoming, and makes you feel right at home. A perfect place to enjoy great wine and even better company!
La Loulou is the place to be!! Such a beautiful space with an obvious amount of thought and care that went into making it the magical place that it is. It’s almost like you are being transported back in time to Paris. Knowledgeable staff, and of course delicious wine! This is the perfect spot for a glass of wine for any occasion.
This is my new go-to spot to catch up with friends. It's a nice change from coffee. The wines are delicious and the staff are very patient and knowledgeable, very willing to help you find a wine you might like. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere inside is awesome. I especially recommend checking out the bathroom...

Such a lovely wine bar! I love that it does not fall into the typical French wine bar we can find in the Bay Area and I love that I can eat other typical French food (Raclette sandwich!). This makes this place very unique. I can sense the attention to details and it makes me feel cared for as a customer. I really love the decor, it's very fun and OMG the swing is so much fun!! I had such a great time.
As a French person living here, I really appreciated how much this place reminded me of a bar in France. The atmosphere, the simplicity, and the conviviality were all there. The owners and staff were friendly and welcoming, the wine was very good, and the prices were more than fair. The selection of French wines is also impressive. And what can I say about the decor? It’s just beautiful! I especially loved the fun and thoughtful details, especially in the bathroom! I’m glad I found this place—I’ll definitely be back!
so this place sounded great. reality is... it's trying. maybe too hard. it's not over the top. over the top would actually be fun. but it's kind of a tracing of a real Parisian wine bar that you're not quite sure is trying to be authentic or goofy. the food was good. we had a cheese plate and some quiche. but the wine was... not great, honestly. we tried a Petit Syrah and a Gamay I believe and both were disappointing. I thought maybe they needed some air so we sat a while chatting about the odd choice of mustard yellow for the art deco designs. the wine didn't get better. the two employees that night were very nice and friendly. I wanna give this place a chance as it just opened last month. but our first impression was a bit of a letdown. maybe we expected too much....
The five of us went on a Thursday night around 6 and it was already lively. We tried sitting inside but it was a tight squeeze and really loud. We sat outside and one of us went to order. The food was quite delayed because I guess they were busy. We ordered a bottle of Sancerre which arrived promptly. Four of us were French natives and we found the wine and most of the food to be delicious. The onion soup was well seasoned with a perfect amount of Gruyère on top. The cup size was minuscule though. Also, the smallest and the tastiest quiche I’ve ever eaten. The salmon tartine was very tasty and well portioned. The cheese plate was perfect but the olives were tasteless and the nuts were stale. We were given napkins with silly sayings on it , mais franchement étant un resto français, ils auront pu nous servir avec qq mots français. Sinon, it was a good experience.

Very fun establishment that brings life to the neighborhood! I would have liked to see more variety of wines. Perhaps offering flights and tastings would scratch the itch. We got the charcuterie board and 4 wines. Fun experience but prices aren’t at the point where I would come back weekly. Still very much worth coming out for a taste!
I live in the neighborhood and am delighted to have a wine bar with fun atmosphere!! The service has improved a lot since they first opened. I would visit weekly if it wasn't so pricy. Some items I feel are worth it like the brunch and charcuterie you can tell the cheese is high quality and a decent-sized portion. Others like the tiny portion of soup and $16 for a mulled wine just don't make sense to me.

Was looking for a nice glass of wine (with my wife) in Oakland and this seemed promising. The atmosphere was great, such a cute place. But after that, the service was terrible (forgotten food), it was way too expensive for the glass of wine we got and the people working there seemed to be trying to emulate the classic French experience of barely paying attention to you and otherwise acting with an air of distain. Will try again in a year.
We spent 13 bucks on a tiny custard cup of French onion soup that was mostly bread. And while it was flavorfull, you can get a bowl three times as big for less that's even better at Cato's. But the real kicker was when I had just finished my first glass of wine and my partner and I were thinking about another or maybe a salad, someone came up to our table and asked us to move. We could not tell if it was an owner or a patron, but there were other tables open. I do not believe we will return
