Obelisco Oakland Reviews
Love this donut shop! The staff is so friendly & welcoming. The variety of donuts + freshness is top notch. Highly recommend!!
The specialty ube donuts 🍩 were worth the price and tasted fresh (even in the later hours) and the person helping us behind the counter was very patient as this was our first time. There are a big selection of coffee and assorted drinks to help put the sugary treats down and I respect the owner locking up the back area to discourage loitering in the evening hours. Will definitely return when that midnight donut craving hits~ *Tip: If you want a more light and balanced flavor, go with the Glazed Cake Ube Donut. If you want robust ube flavor, go with the Crumble Cake Ube Donut
Colonial Donuts has been an Oakland Gem since forever! 💎 One of the places in town that is a must-try! I've been coming here since high school, which was 20 years ago, the staff are super friendly and very kind. I usually get the donut holes, maple bacon, filled bars, and filled French Cruller. They are made fresh daily. They're the best donuts in town! 🍩
Colonial had a great selection of local donuts and pastries at a reasonable price! As someone who used to live in Chicago, where the coffee and donut selection is outstanding, this is a great Oakland mainstay. On my first visit I had the maple bacon donut, which is slightly more expensive but worth it, and also got a lemon pastry. I will definitely come back!
The best donut place in Oakland. They are open 24 hours, and usually have a hot batch around dinner/8 PM or so.
Always tasty. Open late! Ask for fresh ones. Thai tea is good too Update 3.1.25 I got a warm one y'all. The BEST cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life. This place hits. 🍩
24/7 open, great for a pitstop on our way out of town. Enjoyed the donuts!
Colonial has been a local donut spot for ages and I love their glazed and chocolate donuts but I didn’t know they have recently been making mochi donuts Friday-Sunday?!?!!! I found out through their instagram and had to try some and they were so good! Chewy but not to bland anyway I am so happy to that this local spot I have loved now makes mochi donuts.
Only place open in the middle of the night and what a pleasant surprise these donuts were. Delicious & great prices - was surprised this place wasn’t busier. Actually came back to get a dozen for the drive home😂👌

i love this place. they are ALWAYS open. true 24/7. they have a large variety of donuts and drinks, all very cheap and reasonable. i try to visit whenever i can even though i live pretty far away. 24/7 places are super rare in the bay area! its more of a place to pick up a donut rather than stay and eat, but it works well for them. highly recommend
Best and FRESHEST donuts in all the East Bay! Very sweet staff! The little older gentleman behind the counter, the most often ....is adorable and makes me happy every time I see his smile! 🙂
Service is fast & friendly. You can buy Lotto tickets here. No chairs to sit .
I stumbled into this place, not expecting much, and now have a new favorite donut spot in the bay area. These donuts are light, and perfectly fried. Left in the bag for half an hour and the paper is not soaked through with grease at all, yet the donuts are still crispy! They're not too sweet and very affordable. Definitely would recommend.
The best in the Bay, maybe the world. Go here for an incredible donut without all the overpriced trendy hype. Tons of variety and always fresh! They are loading up trays straight from the oven no matter what time you go. They also have gluten free mochi donuts in multiple flavors. No misses!
My favorite donut colony. Sometimes in evening they have hot fresh donuts, a special treat. Nice variety and hours. Not to judge, but there is no seating or bathrooms. I’m sure for good reason!
Classic counter service donut shop with great selection, plus coffee, tea, and a fridge full of beverages. Open late for after-party munchies!

Yummy donuts, great variety, fast service, expensive prices. We were lucky found parking in front. Pricey but worth it if you want a great donut. Unusual selection. Highly recommend.
My parents used to take me here. I quickly figured out that I hadn't visited in over 25 years, but the idea of how good they were haunted me. We had a reason to make the drive after dropping my son at the airport. The look and feel was much like I remembered. My maple bar was delicious. When I was a kid, we used to get there when they were still warm, and that would have been the only way to improve my recent experience.
Best donuts in all of Oakland. I came in at 2 am and they were bringing out a fresh batch of the apple fritters so you know this place keeps their donuts fresh. I tried their apple Fritters and they were crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. They were not overly sweet and not oily at all. They fry them to perfection. I also tried their Maple Bacon donut and its the perfect contrast between sweet and salty, fluffy and crunchy. I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been coming here for years and have always loved this place—hands down some of the best donuts around. I understand that times have changed over the years with everything going on, but I was surprised and a bit disappointed by what happened during my most recent visit. I stopped by around 3:00 a.m., expecting them to be open as usual (being a 24-hour spot), but the doors were locked and there didn’t seem to be anyone around. The lights were on but no one was home 🫤 No signs, no explanation—just closed. I even waited around for a bit to see if anyone would come out, but no luck. What made it especially frustrating is that I drove 40 minutes to get there and was planning to order four dozen donuts for an event this morning. I ended up having to wait a couple more hours for another shop to open. It wasn’t the end of the world, but it definitely left a sour taste. So for now, it’s a 3-star experience. I still love the donuts and will continue coming back, but if the hours have changed, it would be really helpful to update them on Google, social media, or even just a visible sign at the door. Just something to let customers know, especially for those of us driving out of our way.
