Pomet Oakland Reviews
Great cafe to spend an afternoon! Love how many food options there is and the desserts were tasty! The cafe offers outdoor seating which is perfect on a sunny day. Although I do have to warn you the pigeons there will steal you food and a few of them are pretty aggressive... they keep coming back and I couldn’t chase them away😂 Keep a close eye on your delicious meal 👀
Stopped in here while waiting for my girlfriend who had an appointment at the nearby Kaiser. I walked past a lot of places to get here and I am glad I did. The inside felt cozy and comfortable, the kind of place you want to get a coffee & a pastry, sit down with a book and waste a few hours. It is going to take time to prepare your drink, longer than the big chains but you can't rush a good coffee you know. They had a nice selection of pastries that all looked good but I was here for lunch. I grabbed a menu which had a lot of options available. Pasta, pizza, breakfast foods, sandwiches and panini's. I ordered a double latte and the turkey and bacon panini. After getting my latte I headed out to the back patio to await my food. I didn't need to wait long for the food to come out. It had a nice little salad on the side that I wasn't expecting, some pickles and some peppers. The panini was excellent, the bread nice and crunchy and just enough of the aioli so that it wasn't overpowering. The very simple salad made an excellent side for this panini. Just some leafy greens and dressing. The latte was was great, really hit the spot. Overall a very satisfying experience. If I lived in Oakland I might consider making this a regular stop but alas I do not live here.
I love the food here! One of the best breakfast place I have had recently in California
I was sick so I ordered lentil soup and a freshly squeezed orange juice. After I ordered, the meal came in about one minute, maybe less. The juice, the lentils, and the bread were all delicious. Money well spent, no complaints at all.
Quiet and quaint. Friendly staff. Good food and great coffee, made well.

Cafe Chiave is consistently exceptional. The coffee is always outstanding, the food is truly top-tier, and the staff are genuinely cheerful and welcoming every single time. You immediately feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The music, the atmosphere, and the overall aesthetic create a beautiful, relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay longer and keep coming back. This place gets everything right — quality, service, and ambiance. Easily one of the best cafés around!
Great food. Yummy sandwiches and soups. Great coffee. Quiet. Hangout spot for mature folks and professionals.
Hidden gem! Great coffee, food and atmosphere. Just be careful, if you walk by too fast you might miss it! Outdoor seating and ample parking in rear
The turkey bacon panini is soooo good 💜the bread is so fresh. They also good meatball sub- garlicly-mmmm. There is a very nice selection of fresh pastries too.
Really good ice tea and muffins. The muffins are like 4 dollars, and are very big.
The sandwiches are SO GOOD. The bread is always super fresh and delicious, I love their recipes, and they have great sauces. The staff is lovely and I enjoy dining in, especially at their outdoor seating. Whenever I order for pickup, the food is ready very quickly. They also have great desserts!

Good casual Italian eatery, come here for eating not for presentation, pasta was fresh, and alfredo had mushrooms and spinach, I recommend for lunch on a workday break!

Coffee Chiave has become my go-to for a simple solo breakfast or brunch. The casual atmosphere makes it easy to settle into a small table by yourself and catch up on reading or knock out a few personal tasks without feeling rushed or out of place. I always opt for the breakfast special—they offer one each day, at least whenever I’ve been—and it hasn’t disappointed yet. Today’s was a chorizo scramble with perfectly crispy home fries, fresh pico de gallo, and crumbled feta. Hearty without being heavy. A nice touch: their coffee for here comes in small, medium, or large mug options (medium shown). And if you can snag the spot by the window, do it—nothing like a little vitamin D with your morning meal.
Location is casual local cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Great for study and casual meet up. Service is more of self service with cleaning up after yourself despite the tip culture. Food is great with variety of pastries and sweets. Drinks are larger than other coffee shops. There are some seasonal specialties like cast iron frittata, delicious and worth to come back.
Bagel was soft, salmon tasted fresh, slightly more cream cheese than I preferred but I just wiped it off. Overall tasty! Also got a caramel latte and it is delish!

2026 CURRENT MENU prices pics. Good, not great, local spot. Don’t look at old menu pics here showing $10 burrito that’s now $13🙂 Breakfast burrito was good, nothing special, very generic/vanilla, but for that, good. It’s 40% giant potato home fries though..see pic, and that was only in HALF the burrito! Tortilla was gooey and soft, that and the side sauce were the better parts. Place is a typical local spot, wood furnishings everywhere, nothing fancy, peaceful and sunny in the morning😊
While it's quite nice vibes, and the coffee is good, I had such a dissapointing pasta that I'm actually compelled to write a review. The sauce was fine, vegetables were a little chunky but that's a style, but the rigatoni was horrendously overcooked. Idk if they just have a batch of par cooked that they messed up, or screwed up mine in particular, but it really was genuinely awful. If you come here, come for the coffee and pastries, but steer clear of the kitchen. Or at least the pasta.
I am so disappointed. This use to be my favorite and I would come here weekly. I can tell you a few things that changed. This avocado breakfast is super greasy. The egg use to be sunny side and almost cooked like it was poached. The bread was overcooked amd the potatoes are no longer the purples, reds, and light brown medley with rosemary seasoning. I also use to have arugula included as a garnish and the presentation use to be so much better. I would have rated them a 4.5 if they still told their chef to prepare it the way they use to. The customer service was just....blah. The bartender never smiled and didn't even look people amd make a connection.

I had a mediocre coffee experience here. I got a decaf double espresso and it was 5$ (was charged additional 35 cents for decaf) I had to ask them for milk and it wasn't hot. Ok, maybe it was hotter before I put milk in it, but the staff also barely acknowledged my existence, didn't make me feel good. I do think their patio is great and I'll revise my review after trying their pizza.

Absolutely outrageous. My service animal and I were denied entry even after being paying customers. A gentleman, who appeared to be an owner or manager, did not allow us to sit inside because my PSA service animal did not have on a vest. This is in violation of federal law. Sadly, I don’t have time to hire a lawyer and sue them, and when I called the city, they didn't care. (I guess when you’re mayor a criminal under FBI investigation what can you expect) I guess as a restaurant, you can just continue discriminating against people with no consequences. The saddest thing is, I came to your restaurant with my friends from out of town because I wanted to support a local business. 🤷♂️ never coming back. #Discrimination

If I could give them a 0 I would have. They were very rude and uncomedating. I don't know about the food because it was obvious my kind wasn't welcomed. So I suggested we go next door much better choice in every way
